Apps automatically minimizing on atrix 2 - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi all. I am facing a very annoying issue wid my atrix 2. It automatically minimizes my apps while using them and jumps to homescreen. I usually go back to the app by tapping the app icon from "recent apps" tray by long pressing home button but this issue is especially very annoying when i m playing games. Sometimes i am able to resume them back bt sometimes it happens that i hv to start over the game after it gets automatically minimised. What i can remember is that i first faced this issue after i installed golauncher ex bt upon discovering this problem, i immediately uninstalled golauncher ex frm my phone bt m still stuck wid this issue. I m not too sure if this issue is due to golauncher bt it's really annoying. Is anyone else facing the same issue or somebody knows some solution? Plz help me...

Try clearing GoLauncher's cache in: settings>applications>manage applications, find GoLauncher from the list and click the "Clear Data" button and reboot. See if that takes case of it.

Thanks for ur reply bt as i already said, i have already uninstalled golauncher. Correct me if i m wrong bt i think android has a feature of automatically clearing the cache as and when you uninstall some app.

Not if the application's data is still held in the Dalvik cache. Do you have CWM so you can clear that with also?

My phone is a non rooted one. Plz tell me how to clear it's data from delvik cache.

If you're not rooted, you'll not be able to do CWM wipe Dalvik cache, I gave up on GoLauncher quite a while ago. Some like it, other do not. After one of the updates, I found the launcher laggy, and unstable. I'm using ADW Launcher and like it much better. There's many very nice launcher apps available, maybe try out a different one and see if you have the same problem- you may have some corrupted app data or something causing the FC's or whatever is happening...

Other suggestions are also invited!!! Please advice if anyone knows about some solution that does not involve factory data rest. Is it that only i m facing this problem?

Here's a copy of log just before my phone showed that automatic minimizing error. I retrieved this frm advanced system information app. Plz have a look if u can identify what's funny is going on...

No offense, prasannapmv, but he's already said that he's NOT rooted, and therefore he has no CWM installed, and cannot wipe Dalvik. This was my first suggestion, but he has no way to do this unless he roots and installs bootstrap/CWM.
To the OP, if I were you, I'd try another launcher (Go Launcher is not my favorite, and I have experienced lagginess, bugginess, and so on with it). Plus, its a little too "cartoon-y" for me as far as the original theme is concerned. The upside, I suppose, is that there are other themes you can use. But, try another launcher and see if you're still having a lot of FC's. Also, if you still are experiencing them, make note of which apps are FC'ing and uninstall them and re-install. Might have corrupted app data somewhere...

Yes to clear dalvik cache our phone must be rooted as far as i know. Your suggestion is correct he might try other launcher from google play and see whether the problem arise again or not.

When you re-install an app, depending on your settings at Privacy -> Automatic restore, the previous data/settings may get restored too. Maybe temporarily you want to turn it off. If you do not find any solution may I suggest to use adb and try removing content of /data/dalvik-cache (adb shell "rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache"). This directory should be writable even without root access. Reboot immediately after clearing it. Remember next boot will take a long time as the cache is rebuilt. If you do not have adb setup in your PC, try installing android terminal emulator and execute the rm command from that shell.

You are right, so you need to root to remove the dalvik-cache by shell command even with adb. So if some corrupted file is left in the cache, unrooted users have no way. Except maybe flashing a full image by RSDLite, which is maybe more painful than rooting.
There is another command "adb shell wipe data". Does that work?

That will ONLY delete YOUR data off the phone. It is NOT a full factory reset though.

Huhhh... i think i found the solution and since yesterday, i haven't faced this problem yet. First of all, thanks atrix_spider for ur support all the way. I had this app known as mobicop installed in my phone. It is an anti theft software which has a property to show up in the list of home screen launcher when you press the home button. I force stopped it and right now, no other such homescreen launchers are working even in background. When i had go launcher installed in my phone but was not using it, even then i noticed that default homescreen got reverted to go launcher homescreen l, even when i had selected motoblur homescreen as default. Now the problem boils down to the question whether this problem of will continue to be even if i have some launcher installed bt m not using it. From the behaviour of my phone, i guess the same. I found the issue with mobicop when immidiately after my phone jumped to homescreen, i noticed in the recent apps tray that mobicop was showing up as the most recent app launched.

Glad to hear you got things sorted out. Now, get rid of that app and don't look back! In my experiences, anti-theft/virus/whatever apps will only cause more malice -even if their design's intent is good- and should be avoided completely.

Problem installing YouTube... Error: Insufficient space available

Recently I uninstalled YouTube because the application wasn't working properly. I don't remember what I used to uninstall it, but I think I used TiBackup. After uninstalling, I immediately went to the Market to reinstall. After downloading and attempting to install, I got the "Error: Insufficient space available"...
I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache and Dalvik cache, but it didn't fix my issue. I looked through /data/data and there was still a com.google.android.youtube. This contained a cache folder with 1312059254.cache I have a strange suspicion that this could be a problem, but I can't remove it.
I may be way off track, but any suggestions would be appreciated!!
If your device is rooted, you can try my app.
The corpse finder function might be able to remove the left over directory in /data/data.
If this wasn't the problem and it still says insufficent space you can use the system cleaner to free up some internal memory.
Let me know if that helped.
Thanks, I like the app, and com.google.android.youtube did show up as a corpse, but it won't remove...

Hm,
did you give SD Maid root permission?
Root is needed to delete files from /data/data.
If you look at the android log with apps like "aLogCat" sd maid should print the reason why it could not delete the directory.
You can also do this by hand if you are familiar with the android sdk and "adb shell".
ok, the main log that shows the corpse finder was unable to delete the corpse was
"D/eu.thedarken.sdm( 7598): rm: can't remove '/data/data/com.google.android.youtube/cache/1312059254.cache' Input/output error"
This was the same thing that I ran into when I tried to remove com.google.android.youtube manually through the terminal emulator.
Uh oh sounds like a corrupt file system?
Check some of these links, maybe one helps you.
Ah, I appreciate the help! I'm assuming that wiping and installing a new ROM would fix the issue?

Show your appreciation through the thanks button ;-).
I'm not 100% sure if installing a new ROM recreates the filesystem or just overwrites.
I'm pretty sure if you repartition when flashing a new ROM that the filesystem will be recreated.
Maybe someone else can shed some more light on this.
Installing a new rom is not the only option.
Check the sites found on google underthat topic, you might be able to fix the filesystem by running a check and scanning the fs for errors.
This are just some hints, not sure this commands are correct, but something like this:
- Find the device that is mounted to /data/data by typing "mount"
- Then type "fsck DEVICE"

[Q] Insufficient Storage, but 14.7GB free

I just installed ExynosAbuse APK v1.40 and i now have root so i could regain my copy/paste function back. (I delete everything in data>clipboard)
However now when i go to install any app i get the error, insufficient storage. As the title says I have ~15gb free (says the settings>storage). Even when uninstalling an app I cannot re install it as it says i have insufficient space. For example, i uninstalled angry birds SW (which was 60mb) and i cannot reinstall it, or any other apps.
Oh, and i uninstalled the Exynosabuse (but left root enabled) and now i cannot reinstall it to disable root. I also tried uninstalling the google play updates, and nothing changed. Installing apps with either google play or ES file manager gives the same result (insufficient storage space)
Thanks for the help.

If you are getting it for a particular app then try searching for the it using its name it must have left some file over during your previous installion delete all files with the app name and try installing it should install
Try uninstalling the update of play store by going into settings applications
The first one should do the trick

All of the apps in the play store that i tired (ones that haven't been installed before) gave the same error, not just ones previously installed. I also deleted some bloatware updates and tried to reinstall their updates afterwards. The problem persists.
I did uninstall the playstore updates and clearing the cache. Nothing changed.
I've restored to factory and its working again. Crappy solution though..

How do I get into recovery mode to delete dalvik cache? Is that where you hold down power and the volume button, cause I don't see anywhere to delete the cache when im in there. It's just a screen thqts says downloading.
I cleard the dalvik cache In link2sd but it says it's empty. Also cleared app cache with link2sd.
I did notice that the system file space is at 17% (243mb left) which is still large enough to install the apps I'm trying. I have 25gb free out of 32gb.
This problem is not limited to one app. It also happens with apps that never been installed on this tablet.
Thanks for the help.

Not trying to be rude here but it just is a little irritating when you try to help and you get ignored. Volume up and power till you see the boot screen then let go. And youll see wipe cache, do it. Then scroll to advanced and then to wipe dalvik cache, do it. Then go back to the firdt sceen and select reboot.
Also gmfeny had a suggestion did you try that?

The first time you mentioned it i had already did a factory reset and my GN was working for the moment. When the problem came back i said i tried it in link 2 sd and i did boot to what it thought was recovery mode (i did google it but i must have miss read. I was holding power and volume down to get into recovery screen) and didnt see anywhere to delete dalvik cache. I should have stated clearly that i needed help on getting to the right place.
I will try that next.
gmfeny, I have looked in data>apps and nothing about the apps im trying to install is there. Also this problem isnt limited to apps that i've previously installed. So I wouldnt expect anything to be in there on those apps. However there is a folder im not sure about. its not very big (256KB) and its names mcRegistry.
I'm not sure if its a big deal, and further since no one seemed to have commented on it. Is there a problem with my system file space as mentioned above? (17% left, 250MB)
thanks
I have the GTN80013 (32gb no GSM/cdma)
Im in recovery mode now and i selected wipe cache partition. I dont see anywhere that says advanced. The only options i have are; reboot, apply update from external storage, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, apply update from cache.
still cannot install some apks. I tried to install appinstaller (which i've never installed/tried to install from the play store) and it failed. Also my game emulators failed to install with ES file explorer.
I was able to clear the dalvik cache by gong to data/dalvik-cache And deleting everything. after restarting it waa rebuilt. still can't install apps.
Maybe it's not the same as doing it in recovery, but that's not an option in my recovery mode from what I can see.
Thank for the help
I finally solved my problem.
I had installed Link2SD and a setting in that app was causing the problem.
The Fix:
Open up the menu (context menu) > settings
Click on install location and change it from External to Automatic.
I can install app now.
The only strange part is when i first had this problem, i didnt have this app installed. As suggested above, it was probably the Dalvik cache.
For anyone who has problems finding the 'clear dalvik cache' in recovery mode; You can use lucky patcher to delete it. Its in the menu>trouble shooting> delete dalvik cache and reboot.
Or you can do it manually by going to data>dalvik-cache and deleting everything in there.
Thanks for the help!

Stuck in a boot loop after changing app permissions

I posted this in the Nexus 7 section, but this can apply to all AOKP based ROMs that have the "Permissions Manager" option.
Running SmoothROM with 4.2.2 (I think) and I was messing with the "Permissions Manager" settings under "Settings". I turned off several permissions on Facebook, such as SMS view/sender and location on it as well on some other apps. I then rebooted the tablet and now I'm stuck on a boot loop. I don't get how because these aren't system apps, so I don't think it should affect the system booting up at all. Sadly I didn't make a nandroid backup before doing this, since I thought the worse that could happen would be the apps force closing which is easily fixed. Since I didn't make a backup I rather try things that wouldn't make me lose any data.
I can get into recovery (TWRP) and have already made a backup of the current boot looping state. I have already tried deleting cache and dalvik-cache and still won't boot.
I have an idea: Turning the "Permission Management" setting to "Off" would make the apps have their default permissions. I would have to get into /data/data/com.Android.Settings and find the "Permissions Management" setting and set it to "false" or "off" through ADB. So I would have to pull the file and push the edited file back through fast boot or recovery. Anyone think this would work??
FWIW: I updated the kernel (Franco) with his franco.Kernel app 1 reboot ago, but it rebooted fine, not sure if it could be the kernel that has me in this bootloop?

I'm not talking about .apk or file permissions. I'm talking about permissions apps request, such as location, internet access, billing, reading contacts, etc. That's something the "Fix permissions" option in recovery mode has nothing to do with.

Since you indicated that you were running out of space, you could also check out SD Maid and use it to free up some space and perhaps clean up data from apps you might have uninstalled in the past. Improved results can be gained if you are rooted.

Link2SD completely messed up my phone

Alright guys I'm about to blow my top off here. The most recent Link2SD update completely messed up my entire phone.
For reference, I'm currently running an LG G3 D851 4.4.2, stock ROM and rooted. Everything was fine until recently when I started noticing a Play Store update app error "-110".
Not knowing what it was, I investigated, and found that my entire group of app installations have been completely screwed up.
1) First off, I can't install ANYTHING. No app, no nothing. I need to probably install an updated Link2SD to fix this nonsense...right? Can anyone direct me to how I would install the apk using ADB?
2) My mount script is broken and it's not working. It tells me "Mount script cannot be created. mount: Unknown error 150". As a result, my SD 2nd partition remains unmounted....which I think is the source of this entire problem.
3) Viewing my internal storage through DiskUsage, I've discovered that every single app I used to have installed has been "merged" into a single folder simply called "System data". Referenced through this photo here: http://i.imgur.com/ksukQGG.png . Instead of showing the individual folders, e.g.: Google Translate, Pocketcasts, etc, it just shows that big anonymous block of "System Data".
4) If I go to Settings -> Apps. Every single app shows up with "0.00b" as their app size.
HELPPPPP PLEASEEEE I will seriously monetarily tip someone if they can provide me with a solution to this.

HELPPPPP PLEASEEEE I will seriously monetarily tip someone if they can provide me with a solution to this.

Latest (free) Link2SD version
Latest Android Commander for Windows
Enable usb debugging in your phone's settings (Make sure you have the latest drivers for your phone installed)
Install Android Commander (AC)
Open AC while your device is connected
If your device is listed, press okay
On the right upper side in AC there is a option "Install"
Select the Link2SD APK (Try "update" if it doesn't work "normal insstallation"
Link2SD should be installed again

Thank you so much for the detailed response. Unfortunately though, it looks like I already have the most recent version installed, 4.0.9? Would this solve anything by basically reinstalling it? I was hoping there would be like a 4.1 version that would fix the issue or revert changes or something.
Update:
Tried installing an app through ADB and it now shows me this:
WARNING: linker: app_process has text relocations. This is wasting memory and is a security risk. Please fix.
pkg: link2sd-4-0-8-multi-android.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]
Any idea anybody? Like before, I'd be willing to donate to anybody who can provide me with the solution. Thanks!

Seems as you have 4.0.8 at the moment. 4.0.9 is the latest official and released 03/10/2015. By the way (most) people here won't help more willingly if your offer some bucks

Oh, I was trying to downgrade Link2SD in hopes that it would fix whatever happened with 4.0.9.
According to the about page in Link2SD, I currently have 4.0.9.
And haha thanks for the heads up...I'm really desperate though which is why I pulled that card out.

looks like 4.0.8. Thats why I asked. Have you tried to reinstall the app or does it offer an option to reload the mount script?

I can uninstall apps, but I can't install or update anything. That's why I was trying to install through adb instead, which unfortunately still doesn't work. When I open up Link2SD, it doesn't give me an option to reload, it only gives me the option to "Recreate mount scripts". If I click on it, it gives me the mount script error - "Mount script cannot be created. mount: Unknown error 150."

Is there any really important data on your installed apps? If I was you I would simply reflash the firmware and start from scratch instead of spending hours to find a solution. The point is that you don't know what you changed that your phone became like this. I have send a email to the Link2SD developer but I'm not sure if he can provide a solution.

I'm actually backing up all my app data as I'm typing this. The only concern I have though, is that my phone is actually on the stock recovery. I only rooted it because I didn't want to deal with the potential for something like this to happen (which would suck up all my time, haha). As a result, I can't flash anything. So if I decide to stock factory reset, would that clean the /system /data, and everything else that needs to be cleaned for my phone to work properly again? I thought that root (and potentially whatever screwed my phone) persisted through a stock factory reset, which would make trying to do that pointless.

I really don't know, if your root survives a factory reset. Probably it will. A custom recovery is really usefull as you can make complete nandroid backups

I suppose so, I'll have to make sure I can flash it properly though considering I'm finding it impossible to install apps right now. This is getting to be highly frustrating

Well, I solved the mount problem by formatting my SD card. But that didn't fix anything else unfortunately.
I also noticed a couple interesting things:
1) Android and Link2SD show my data and cache for ALL apps to be 0.00b. I know that's not true because I went to the /data/data/app directories and found the data exists.
2) I can use all my apps normally with no problem. that means all the files are there, and can communicate correctly(?)
3) I still can't install any app at all.
Next course of action: Completely disable link2sd's boot script perhaps? So what would that entail, deleting install-recovery.sh from /system/etc/ ? Anything else, or would that be good enough?
