Helping to get my LG phone supported under the mobile Odin app? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I would really like to help get my phone supported in the mobile Odin app. I am using the LG CONNECT Android phone from Metro PCS, I have pretty much been flying by the seat of my pants learning the Android OS, rooting my phone, figuring out Titanium Backup, etc, etc but I have yet to mess with the custom ROM stuff (just can't find anyone to help me). It's kinda hard for me to get access to a Winduows PC (but I can get my buddies laptop if need be) and my Mac is the old PPC VERSION 10.4.11 and all the phone hacking stuff is written for Mac OS 10.5 and up and I can't install that OS on my PPC G5 so I can't use the programs out there to change my ROM from stock to custom and the mobile Odin app seems to be right up my alley. I see that I can't post in that forum so if there is someone that can will you tell the dev that I want to help get the LG phones supported? It's an awesome phone IMO, dual 1.2 ghz cpu and 2gb of internal memory. Everything i throw at it (apps, games) works great! So I would love to help him get my phone supported if someone can pass the word for me?
Thanks a ton guys,
Alex

My Optimus V is android-native (upgraded to CM7 with zefie Xionia kernel,) which I do use for phone functions and browsing; but for the past week or so I've been running Debian (first squeeze now sid) on it...
first a chroot while experimenting and getting Squeeze set up, now no chroot needed, can run Debian apps straight from the terminal, and non-driver-required functions. 3G Net access works. Haven't messed around with the wifi or bluetooth in Debian yet since I don't use 'em much.
working on getting x11 running native, since VNC access is slow and bites (works but no sound and gnash gives me a blank frame. I want flash compatibility, blast it!.) Anyone wants to help with native X on the Optimus V, let me know.
I'd post a howto and scripts and such, but I haven't hit my 10-post count yet here on XDA because of the limits on where I can post and I'm not gonna spam post just to get my count up. Why waste space spamming so I can post in appropriate locations just 'cause there's a protection against spammers which would force me to either spam or post silly/unimportant data? Once I eventually hit 10 posts in some way I feel is appropriate to do it, I'll put up a howto for anyone interested.

[Q] Android noob, Generic device, A few questions?

First let me introduce myself. The name is Darcy and I have been casually using linux and other *nix OS for about a decade. I am in school working on a programing degree ATM, and am a pretty quick study. Anyways, I without much research bought my wife a generic 7" tablet running android 1.6. I know what processor it has and Im hoping that leads me to a place to start. Ok so the device is a "Kasser Net'sGo" we didnt realize that its just a china pad with another companys name on it when we ordered it. So most of the apps dont run correctly, and in general the device sucks(on a software level the HW is fine although generic).
Anyways it apears that i can get into recovery mode to flash if i had no other choices. But since there are no official roms im hoping to find a build thats based on the same CPU or similar hardware to find a starting point. Its running the Marvell Aspen 800mhz chip and standard ddr2. Sadly thats all we have been able to find out about this device.
I have compiled custom builds for linux before, and i have now purchased a Gtab so i have a less garbage device to test some things on(i have allready flashed 2 different roms and fooled with a bunch of the settings). But we would realy like to do something with this other tablet. So if anyone can point me in the direction of some info on how to do android builds or a repository of chipset drivers and such that might help me that would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Android Rom Help- very specific Request

Okay so here's the deal, I have not been on this website since the Windows Mobile 5 days, so the new format is a little strange for me, for those of you who remember what the site used to be like.
So no, I am not a noob, just with the new Android operating system, I'm looking to do something very specific, if it can even be done.
Device Information:
ZTE Score x500
Android 2.3.4
400MB Ram
8GB SD Card
So here's what I want to do, I just bought an iPhone, but I only want to use it for work, I don't care too much for the phone itself but for practical business purposes, it's the best thing out right now, so I'm looking to turn the Android Phone into sort of an MP3/Entertainment device on steroids.
I'm looking for a ROM that removes all phone and data functions, retains WIFI and BT, and frees up as much RAM as possible, I haven't done any browsing through the site/threads yet, but figured posting this would be the best place to start.
Like I said, I haven't done anything like this since the good old WM5 days, so any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
MMCCORMICK

[Completed] Best smartphone to use as mini pc

I had bought the Droid 3 to use as a mini computer to run a few offline apps. However, the process of getting it to Android 4.4 seems impossible. While it boasts of a decent screen size and nice keyboard, all the work that has to be put into it is very discouraging to put it mildly. The rooting, removing bloatware, unlocking the bootloader, installing recovery and finally updating to the latest possible version of android is very daunting. At this point I would even pay for someone to do this. Is there another phnone that I could get for cheap (less than $50.00) where there would be less work and more straight foward.? Or any other suggestions?
Thanx so much
Hi !
What we can do for you on this matter is to recommend this thread which has a topic alike , we cannot advice on devices purchasing , there are way too many variables involved , thanks for understanding
Good luck !

Custom rom on old LG Voyager

I doubt this is possible, but I really want to do this for a project for fun. I have an LG Voyager (Model number VX10000) and since this phone looks a lot like a laptop, I want to make a Windows 10 look alike rom for it. I know this is a 12 year old phone, and I do not need help programming the rom for it, I just want to know if it is even possible to get rid of the stock rom, and install another rom onto it. Is this possible? Any answers are appreciated.
