Ok, so My baseband is latin american.. (Claro) I accedently updated to another Baseband :s and I took it to the Main Dept. They restored by phone back to Froyo... Dx Is there a Way I can Update it without changing basebands? But the REAL Question, is there a way to RIP the original ROM from a Phone?
ripping is easy just copy /system to /sdcard,
making rom:- make changes create a flash able zip and you are done
Does it Preserve the Baseband??? That's what's really important to me
Your baseband will change only if you flash a stock rom with odin...
If you flash any of the custom roms present here, using custom recovery, your baseband won't be affected...

So I just copy /system into a zip inside /sdcard for a back up?
Then is there a way to get 2.3.4 without using the Stock ROM?

Although I DO Remember Flashing to 2.3.4 via Recovery and Not via Odin :s

Hi ankit360, is this the same rom as the one used in Indonesia? I can only remember the SEA and 2.51.0. Can anyone please confirm? Is it possible to flash back to this version after I installed Pays/Korean. I never used Chinese rom prior to pays or korean (still confused about reverting back to eclair). Thanks
Just tried to restore my nandroid from last official SEA then flash the sbf. Everything seems to be normal. Most of previously installed applications FC. Gtalk won't run. Trying to factory reset
Okay. Everything runs perfectly after factory reset. I can even unroot my defy using superoneclick. Thanks ankit360 for the sbf

Hello, maybe i'm going to buy an Optimus 3D soon.
I've got some doubts about the flashing process: on Android i'm used to flash with ClockWork Mod Recovery, but i see that there you use another method that needs Windows on a PC.
How's that? Can i choose which one to use or do I really need the program on my PC?
And also the modified USB cable?
We still use Clockwork Mod Recovery.

Ok that's great, so for custom ROMs i won't need it
And what about flashing CWR? Is it Root>Flash from terminal?
Ok i should get it tomorrow (can't wait )
I've seen that to flash a radio i have to use the LG Flash Tool, right? I'm talking about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
And i have to change radio to switch to Gingerbread. Do I just need apps on my computer or also the modified cable?

Right, i think ROM manager is easier, even if it should work also with ADB terminal
So official Gingerbread will be released in 2 weeks? :O

you can but then it is better to update through zip files in recovery than trying lg update tool cause some people have problems updating through lg update tool after they have rooted and cwm. I never had any problem though. my phone is rooted from day one and has cwm and still getting updates through lg update tool...

First upgrade to official gb will have to be through either lg update program or by installing a kdz file of it when it is released. After that you will have the gb baseband already installed and you will be able to upgrade through zips

Ok perfect, but finally, to get official GB should i keep the original sistem or not?
And if yes, the problem will be still present with ICS, right?
How to get back to stock safely? I have seen the thread in the general area for showing the zips but I do not know which one to download and what to do after downloading. I bought it from a T-Mobile Store USA. Does it matter what baseband? How do I know if I have old or new? Please help with as much information as possible so I can get back to stock safely, thank you.
download LG USB drivers and LGMDP, install them, if the phone is not detected boot into recovery, mounts, and mount usb, now your phone is detected, update to latest android version available, that will make your phone to run GB 2.3 stock, if LGMDP it says that you have latest version just do it anyway
you will loose root and recovery
useing KDZ for unexperienced people is dangerous, but if you do, do not pull out battery before everything is done(if it takes 1 hour you will have to wait), unless you want to hardbrick your phone

Try tutorial mentioned in sticky area:thumbup:
Baseband doesn't matter in this case,if you are flashing stock rom from pc.
And if you're worried as that much try to flash Open Optimus/Oxygen/Gingersnap rom/s from recovery.
they all are stable and give you stock experiencesurely.

Our device doesn't support/having stock recovery ,only customs recovery support .
Check in setting - about device section -baseband version .
If you saw there v10x so you‘re on old baseband & if v20x you are on New baseband.
If you are on v20x then simply follow previous link instructions

I think you can flash the ICS rom on your phone then get the rom files via "adp pull" and put them into an update.zip. It's just a sugestion, I have never tried :silly:. Or you can make an update zip only with the modfied files.

Did it work or has anyone found another way?
I'm interested in this too
a lot of users are having this problem and if you want to receive an OTA you have to flash the stock unrooted firmware that will cause lose of data.
this guide will show you how to receive OTA again without losing your stuff
This works on GT-I9500 ONLY! (Lollipop 5.0.1 Recovery)
This also should work on any other model, but you have to replace the recovery with your model!
Steps:
1- Go to SuperSU and scroll down to "Full unroot" then reboot.
2- Download This file to PC and extract it.
3- Go to download mode by pressing the power key + home key + volume down key at the same time, then press volume up.
4- Flash the file via Odin (AP) or (PDA)
go to check the system status, you will find it Official
you can now receive OTA.
Q&A:
What is OTA (Over The Air)? Its an update which you can receive over wifi or mobile data.
What do i get from OTA? Well, if you root your device you wont be able to receive an update again, unless from flashing firmware via Odin.
- Why im still on custom status? Because you modified your system.
- What kind of modifying? Installing busybox, editing or deleting or changing any app or file system.
and some times xposed.
- How do i restore the old app? You can restore them by flashing firmware or by restoring Nandroid backup.
- Then what is the use of your guide? Well my guide helps in first place the rooted not the modded onces.
and always do Nandroid of the original system apps+data
you are still having your apps, data, pics, vids, etc...
you can root again at anytime.
check my thread for rooting if you want
im not responsible for any bricks
thank you...

At some point the update maybe canceled, because the update checks for the apps before the installation, always do a backup of your phone then remove what you want, after you want to update just restore the system folder from the backup
