clockworkmod recovery drivers verizon s3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

hello,
have the verizon s3. after i install clockwork recovery i reboot into it with the usb cable still in the computer and i get asked for drivers. I tried to point it to the sdk drivers but it didn't work. where do i get drivers for this because it would be nice to usb mount this with clockwork just in case something goes wrong, thanks!

Do some more research before flashing anything please! Clockwork mod is a recovery, it does not use drivers. You need the samsung driver if your trying to get communication between the device and pc.

I think the op realizes that. He is trying to use adb in cm recovery but he can't because the drivers do work in recovery so he can't.
If that is the case we are in the same boat bc I have been trying to mount my phone to push an pull from my phone in recovery via adb

Question about rooting process?

I was using theunlockr method found here:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-flash-a-custom-recovery-image-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
Under step 3 you're supposed to install the NVIDIA driver...and it says to hold down the power up/down buttons while plugging in the USB...well, mine never comes up with the "apx with an exclamation point next to it" inside of device manager.
However, with it plugged in still, in device manager it shows "NVIDIA USB Boot-Recovery driver for mobile devices" like it should.
So, should I be worried I didn't have to install the driver? Or is everything ok since it has the last step on there?
You didn't say if you were actually successful or not at flashing cwm recovery. If you're able to boot into clockworkmod recovery then there is no issue. If it didn't flash to your phone properly then you need to try again.
If you have to, just uninstall and then reinstall the drivers as directed in the guide.
Yes I was able to flash recovery and boot into it just fine.
That's why I was curious if I should be worried or not.

If you can boot into cwm then you're good to go. Had you installed the drivers at some point prior to this?

Can't use ADB in CWM

Apparently my problem with CWM v5 is a known issue and there is a fix for it, but I can't access ADB while in CWM because Windows can't find the drivers for it even though I have the sync drivers and the windows driver package from the "how to setup adb" thread. ADB works fine when my TF is booted into Android.
brando56894 said:
I can't seem to figure out what it actually causing this since I had changed a few things when I noticed it. Whenever I boot up my TF it will boot to CWM and it doesn't matter if it's a cold boot or a reboot. I first thought it was due to AOKP since one of the things listed in the changelog of v1.4 was a fix for booting to recovery, right before this I had CM9 installed and went into rom manager and flashed the newest CWM build. The first reboot was fine and the same went for the first flash of AOKP. I forgot to flash GAPPS so I rebooted and it immediately went to recovery. I went back to my CM9 backup and it was still doing this. I flashed roach's build of CWM5 and it didn't fix anything (actually it didn't seem to stick), I flashed CWM3 to test this out and sure enough on reboot CWM5 was still there, I even tried to flash CWM3 via rom manager and it didn't do anything.

No problem. I really didn't mean to be so harsh. Just kind of came out that way.
I understand I do it too One odd problem that I'm having is that Windows detects my TF when it's in Android and the drivers install successfully, yet when I reboot into CWM it tries to install the drivers but says that it can't find the necessary drivers. I have both Asus Sync and the ASUS Windows USB Drivers from here installed, do I need a third set to use it in the recovery?

If you're able to boot into Android, move the necessary file you need to internal before booting into cwm recovery.
ADB in recovery are for those stuck in cwm recovery and can't boot into Android at all.
What operating system do you have? Win 7 64bit? I had a same problem.
I used this tutorial:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/enable-adb-usb-drivers-for-nvidia-tegra-based-android-tablets/
You must change VID and PID, those you find in Computer > Properties > Device manager and select Android ADB (some device with ADB, I don't know exactly) > Properties > bookmark Details > select ID hardware and there it is.
Yea it was W7 64 I just ended up doing it in Linux because I didn't need any drivers. I dislike Windows anyway.

[Q] asus transformer sort semi brick need help asap please...

ok so ive had my tf101 rooted since i got the thing over a year and a half ago, i was running the megatron rom which was cm9 based and everything was good. today i tried to flash Eos4 and i got F%$ked out the a$$. so i did my standard procedure which was put the rom and gapps package on my device and then i wiped everything (after making a nandroid) and flash the rom along with its gapps. then i went to reboot it then i got shot back into recovery...so i was like wtf. i then found a way where if i hold the power and volume down for about 10 seconds i could cold boot android and once booted fix this problem with my recovery. unfortunately when i go to boot into android my device just bootloops on the boot animation ( ive left for about ten mins just to make sure) then i was like oh well ill just restore my nandroid, but for some reason clockwork mod touch wont let me use my microsd card, and its also not letting me restore from the backup i made earlier, it says files not found. i tried to connect it to my pc so i could just factory reflash it but unfortunately it will not be picked up by my pc through adb or apx.
so here is my main issue,
i just need to boot into android one time successfully so i can change the location of some ROM files and fix this stupid recovery bull****.
or if i could some how factory reset the tablet completely then that would be fine too
or or i could flash a different recovery that actually worked (currently on CWM 5.8.3.4 installed from rom manager which i realize now to be a huge mistake)
and i've tried ever tool on this forum as well and nothing works because it cannot pick up my device.
*** one other side note i am running windows 8 pro 32bit through Vmware (if this can be problematic)
thanks for any help in advance
To fix this, you will need to get your tablet recognized by your computer via ADB (in recovery) or APX mode.
You could have a bad cable, or it could be the VM causing the detection issues.
Is there a way you can connect it to a computer running Windows natively?
Does your computer make the new hardware sound when connecting?
Once you get it detected via one method or the other, here are my suggestions:
APX - Use the Naked Driver 0.72 and replace whatever driver is being used. Then use EasyFlasher to install TWRP 2.2.1.4 (it blows CWM away, and can read internal AND external memory)
ADB - use the Naked Driver 0.72 and replace whatever driver is being used. Then download the TWRP 2.3.2.3 blob from the TWRP project: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/tf101
Call the downloaded file TWRP.blob.
Then run the following from your computer via ADB:
Code:
adb push TWRP.blob /sdcard/
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/TWRP.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
reboot
Make sure it is a normal reboot to complete the recovery. Then reboot to recovery and you should be able to see the external card (so long as it is formatted for FAT32).
Thanks for the quick response and it probably is because I am using vmware... Unfortunately I don't have access to a windows machine right now. But I will definitely try to find one

** edit I'm assuming it got stuck boot the apps because now a my directories seem F&#cked up too... It now goes sdcard/0/0/0/(everthing else)
That's because your recovery is not compatible with 4.2.1. TWRP recovery 2.3.2.3 or 2.3.3.x should be fine as federuco said, to fix the sdcard/0/0/... issue.
For the stuck at apps thing, usually it's because you didn't wipe everything when changing rom. Make sure to do a full reset, wipe cache dalvik and system.

If you can get into the OS, install GooManager and install TWRP.

Use the Naked Drivers.
Let me find the link to the thread....
Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514942
Grab the driver pack in the first thread, update the device using the APX driver when in APX mode.
Then you should be good to go. I have used EasyFlasher via APX with great success.

Put your device in APX mode. To do so, make sure it's completely powered off (hold the power button 10 seconds), then hold down volume up + power for about 5 seconds. Do that while it's connected through USB. The screen will remain black so you won't see anything on the device, but you will hear a new device found in windows. Go in your device manager and look for either "unkown device" or "NVIDIA boot-recovery driver for mobile devices". If you see the nvidia one, right click and delete it; it should be come unknown. Right click the unknown device, install driver... navigate to where you extracted the naked drivers, and install.
Then use easyflasher.

any commands to flash stock recovery or delete cwm recovery from phone using adb or cwm
Have you tried to download a custom rom and put it on the phone by enabling USB storage in cwm? By doing so you could get the phone working again and then doing a stock reset. I succeeded once by doing this way.

Make sure you have connected to the internet. Now, in download mode when you get SAMUSUNG MOBILE USB CDC, see that you allow windows to install drivers automatically from the internet. It happened to me and now everytime when I connect it to a new PC I make sure that I allow windows to install the drivers initially. Win7 & Win8 both are great as they a least problems in installing drivers. If still doesn't work uninstall drivers and try in another USB and if prompted allow windows to install drivers. Hopefully this should work. Also let me know if you tried to connect the phone is some other computer.

Android phone stuck on boot logo

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I don't see a forum for the phone that I own. Here's my problem, flashed a keyboard file and now my phone is stuck on the boot logo. The phone does not have CWM installed at all. However it is rooted, and does have busybox pro installed. The phone also does not have a external SD card slot. So I can not load a stock rom and flash it back via the sdcard.
big question now, is there a way for me to connect my pc to the phone and see the internal storage of the phone, if so what do I need and how do it do it.
Thanks
Not the wrong forum, since your device isn't listed this Q&A section is the correct place posted. Unless this thread got moved?
Firstly, how did you flash the keyboard file if there was no CWM (Recovery) installed ?
Now can you answer these questions. It'll help me.
1. What device do you have.
2. Did you device have recovery before you "flashed" the file?
3. Can you boot into bootloader
4. Since you don't have an external SD card, I don't know? But you can push files to your SDcard via Bootloader I assume.
5. What file did you flash? (Link to file).
6. Have you tried to force flash an official update for your device?
Explain these questions and I'll have a better chance of helping you out. And so I can explain it you properly.

I did boot into the default 'android recovery' screen (from factory) but when I run 'adb devices' from command prompt on my win 7 machine it doesn't list a device. When I look into device manager I get a big giant yellow question mark over the phone. I can't see the phone
I had to install all the phone drivers, then try different usb ports, another way is if your phone connects to odin t shoud be read from adb, but i have vista, so it could be all different.
Uhm the best way is to download, universal adb drivers. Install it. Then download drivers for you device. In device manager click the triangle one and then select to install an updated version of the driver. When prompted on which driver to install select composite adb interface.
