Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I don't see a forum for the phone that I own. Here's my problem, flashed a keyboard file and now my phone is stuck on the boot logo. The phone does not have CWM installed at all. However it is rooted, and does have busybox pro installed. The phone also does not have a external SD card slot. So I can not load a stock rom and flash it back via the sdcard.
big question now, is there a way for me to connect my pc to the phone and see the internal storage of the phone, if so what do I need and how do it do it.
Thanks
Not the wrong forum, since your device isn't listed this Q&A section is the correct place posted. Unless this thread got moved?
Firstly, how did you flash the keyboard file if there was no CWM (Recovery) installed ?
Now can you answer these questions. It'll help me.
1. What device do you have.
2. Did you device have recovery before you "flashed" the file?
3. Can you boot into bootloader
4. Since you don't have an external SD card, I don't know? But you can push files to your SDcard via Bootloader I assume.
5. What file did you flash? (Link to file).
6. Have you tried to force flash an official update for your device?
Explain these questions and I'll have a better chance of helping you out. And so I can explain it you properly.

1. I am using BLU vivo 4.8 HD (also called gionee elife E5)
2. there is a android recovery on the phone. I tried the erase data/factor reset option and nothing happened
3. I don't think so. I can get into a recovery window by pressing power and the vol up key
4. That's the problem. I don't know how to get my computer to see the phone via ADB when it's connected.
5. I flashed this keyboard http://www.thetechaholic.com/article_1087.html
6. I would try to flash rom but i can't get access to the phone when it's connected to my computer. And there's no external SD card available
Boot into the recovery, your PC should detect your device. Using adb push an official update. Then force flash the official update.

I did boot into the default 'android recovery' screen (from factory) but when I run 'adb devices' from command prompt on my win 7 machine it doesn't list a device. When I look into device manager I get a big giant yellow question mark over the phone. I can't see the phone
I had to install all the phone drivers, then try different usb ports, another way is if your phone connects to odin t shoud be read from adb, but i have vista, so it could be all different.
Uhm the best way is to download, universal adb drivers. Install it. Then download drivers for you device. In device manager click the triangle one and then select to install an updated version of the driver. When prompted on which driver to install select composite adb interface.

Thank, okay I got the drivers installed.
Rebooted the phone into recovery (factory not CWM) and selected 'apply update from adb'.
At this point I'm not sure if i should go with CWM recovery image or the actual rom. I choose the cwm recovery file. Sent the file via ADB sideload, Installation starts on the phone then fails with "installation aborted"
Not sure what to make of this

You can try using a jig....
You can buy it or make it...
Just Google it
It forces phone to go in recovery and from there you can push the rom files using recovery!!

Hello rolexconfuse. I also own the BLU Vivo 4.8 HD.
I am curious. What factory rom did you use to bring your phone back to life, the original from BLU Vivo 4.8, or the one from gionee elife E5? And how/where did you get this ROM? Thanks!

Hi
I`m a noob needing some help. I recently got my Nexus S (i9020T). I have not rooted my phone or modifyed it in any way.
2 times I have had the update notifyer telling meg that there is a system update available(currently runing 2.3.4)
When accepting the update the phone gets stuck on the Google screen. Nothing happens for a long time. Both times I have ended up pulling the battery and the phone starts up again without problem.
I tried once pressing the "volum up" and "power" buttons and using the recovery option(after puting the updatefile og the root of the phone in usb-mode). The same thing happens.
Anybody have a solution for me. Need a fix as I do want the ICS update when it releases.

If the phone works then there is no need to send back. Google online "Download 2.3.6 update for T-Mobile" . a website should have it . The file should be 96 MBs long. Download astro file manager because u don't really need the PC to update ur phone... once the update is downloaded just find the file in astro / downloads / ... press and hold on the update and rename to update.zip ... then press and hold again and move to Root of SD ... turn off phone and boot into recovery and install update from zip

Hi
Thank you for the reply.
I have tried this solution. When booting into recovery the phone stops at the Google screen and nothing happens. Have left i alone for up tp 2 hours without anything happening. It's not responding at all. Having to pull the battery to start it up again.
Did you try to reset the phone to factory-reset before updating?
Just tried to. It gets stuck at the Google screen yet again.
thats not good
Now you can do 2 things :
1. Send the phone back to samsung to repair/update
or
2. Root the phone and then reset it back to stock and try again.
If you decide to root your phone, you have to
unlock the bootloader (everything will be wiped)
install custom recovery (ClockWork)
install root
install the rommanager-app from market
download the stock 2.3 from the RomManager (includes stock recovery)
try to update over OTA again
and if it works you can relock the bootloader
this works for my nexus s i9023 ... i hope that this works also on your i9020T, but im not sure
Do you have a link to a walk thru? I've tried some "oneclick roots" but they all gets stuck at "device not found"

then you can try it manualy :
download superuser @ http://bit.ly/su2361ef and put it on your sdcard
adb reboot bootloader (the phone should go into fastboot)
download cwm @ http://www.mediafire.com/?xdpvcxiybcrzte5 (5023-green.img)
fastboot boot path-to/5023-green.img
now the recovery should start on the phone
in the recovery choose install zip from sd and look for the su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip and install it.
after that just enter "adb reboot" and your phone should start rooted.
now you can install rommanager over the market and look for an stock-image to revert back and retry to update it OTA.
Try install clockworkmod into your phone.
1. Boot into fastboot mode.
2. Install phone driver.
2.a. Get driver frome some where (try googling PDANET Nexus S driver (for your series)).
2.b. Install & enable adb and fastbott (googling too, there is some tutorial in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=881).
2.c. unlock bootloader.
2.d. flash clockworkmod.
3. Boot into clockwork mode recovery (in fastboot mode choose recovery).
4. Mount your USB driver.
5. Download stock ROM for your phone.
6. Wipe data, caches, and dalvik caches.
7. Install from SDCard, choose your stock rom zip.
8. Restart phone.
7. Optional -> lock your bootloader (the same way as unlocking bootloader, but change unlock to lock).

Yes phone booted in bootloader it say FAST BOOT & STATUS UNLOCKED, I can't enter in recoverymod, as I enter in recovery mod I get dead android with red ! mark.
When I purchased this phone (a few days back) I had Gingerbread, I updated it n due to low signals (I think) ICS installed properly but when it came to installing applications it got hanged, now I can't run applications properly as it reboot if I try to open any application.
I again try to update it from wifi from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1 ( As new update was available) but after complete download of JB when it started to installing I got that dead android sign with RED ! mark.
Do you have any idea what happened wrong?

Please guide me a little bit details as I'm new user of Nexus S & Thanks in advance..
You said install custom recovery right? now I have downloaded 2 files for Clockworkmod recovery 6.x.x.x. one is in .ZIP format & other is in .img format. Now the question is
1). Do I have to flash recovery by using this advance option of Nexus Root Tool Kit by clicking on FLASH PERMANENT & then clicking on recovery & then giving the path of CMW 6.x.x.x.IMG and then after giving the path clicking on ROOT & checking the "And also flash custom recovery" option?
2). Can I install .ZIP file CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP by just putting it into the SD card of Nexus S, turning the phone on into RECOVERY mode and the selecting INSTALL .ZIP from SD card (Something like this) then locating CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP & it will install it automatically?
I installed CWM recovery in my Samsung Galaxy Gio a year back & then installed Cyanogenmod in that phone but I have forgot the procedure but I think I did it like I entered into recovery mode by pressing some buttons & then install zip from SD (I think I did like this but not sure).
P.S: I can enter into recovery when I see DEAD ANDROID with RED ! then I press volume up + power button 2 times then it shows me stock recovery.
One last thing to ask, you said CHANGE SCREEN SETTING TO ZERO? What does it means? Screen setting of Laptop or Mobile (Brightness or what?)
Thank you very much for your support :highfive:

One more question just to conform something, can I use this Philz Touch 5.06.1 (Latest) on my STOCK ROM? I'm having ICS 4.0.4 build number IMM76D, can I flash this recovery? I have remember the old days when I flashed CWM in my Samsung Galaxy Gio, they had 4 types of CWM. One was for some RAW disk format, another was for EXT4 (Something like that).
Can I install it for I.C.S 4.0.4? Do I have to root my Nexus S I9023 after that or is it already rooted? that UNLOCK means my phone is rooted? What about the Super user application? DO I have to install in separately? Can I install Cyanogenmod after install this recovery or should I have to install Super user before installing Cyanogenmod? Hi,
I finally managed to update my Moto G to 4.4.2 by flashing stock rom. However, before I did that, my phone was rooted and I used Titanium Backup to back up some files. I then copied that folder to my PC. Now, I have tried to root the phone again using superboot, but my screen goes purple literally 2 seconds after I load superboot and then I have to switch it off and back on again. It hasn't installed SuperSU so I'm assuming my phone isn't rooted any more. I am a total noob in these matters and I really do appreciate all the help given on this site.
I would greatly appreciate if you can help me by getting my files from Titanium backup back up again, and how to re-root my phone. I have searched the forum but I didnt find anything too similar to my situation and I don't understand a lot of the terminology. It took me a really long time to even learn how to flash the stock rom!
So I would appreciate any help. Thank you
Root option 2 doesn't work either. It just says "waiting for device" at the first stage. When I click on recovery, it says no command. USB debugging has been enabled. Im confused!
Put latest superSU zip on /sdcard on phone. Copy across to phone using USB or use airdroid app. Search internet for superSU zip by chainfire developer.
Flash custom recovery CWM (search forum for it). Be sure to get the one for 4.4.2 bootloader.
Boot into CWM recovery (boot to bootloader and choose recovery option using UP volume button) and choose to flash a zip file and then pick the superSU zip.
You are now rooted and have a custom recovery.
For titanium backup, either copy to phone using USB or use airdroid app.
If you still have probs then let me know and I can give more detailed instructions tomorrow when I am at my laptop along with links to files needed.

Thank you very much for your help. Just a few questions if you dont mind. How do I put the SuperSU zip on the /sdcard part of the phone? When I access my phone via the pc, i cant find that folder.
Also, how do I go about flashing the custom recovery CWM. I don't know how to do this. The rest I should be OK with.
Thanks again pal
Go to android development section and follow the cwm 6.0.4.6 guide you can get the latest supersu from chainfire website just DL the zip plug your phone in and open your device and place the zip there. Then when you flash cwm don't reboot just move on to updating SD card and flash the super Su zip

When you access phone via PC do you see a list of directories, eg data, documents, pictures. If so that is the sdcard. Just put the superSU zip in any folder, or just copy it across so its not even in an actual folder. As long as its on there its fine.
If you don't see the folders then maybe you don't have the right drivers for the phone. In this case may be easiest to use airdroid app.
You may need drivers for fastboot below though anyway - not sure on windows as I use Linux. Bit of reading on forums should help with that.
CWM - have you used fastboot before? Basically fastboot is a program you put on your PC to allow you to flash images to your phone. You will enter a command like
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
Where cwm.img is the CWM recovery file. You need to be in the bootloader to allow the phone to accept fastboot commands. The cwm.img is then flashed to the phones recovery partition.
Check the forums for a link to a fastboot program, that's the easiest way to get it.
Honestly, thank you so much for your help guys, a special thanks to you scott. I kinda understand now!
Now, I did all that, but I got a problem. When I try to flash CWM by using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
On my phone, it says mismatched partition size (recovery). Also, a bit off topic but when I try to restore factory settings, the phone doesn't do it properly. The android logo comes up....then it disappears, then appears again and disappears and so on.
Have I messed something up?
The partition mismatch is fine try factory reset on the phone setting not by recovery and see if that works

Hello,
I'm in need of some help. My little brother attempted to root and flash the tablet I gave him but he went wrong somewhere and we're unsure about how to fix it. He said he followed the guides here well but failed when he attempted to install the zip file (Something about a red X on the Android figure) it wouldn't allow him to. Currently the tablet only boots up in ClockworkMod Recovery and we can't seem to get Odin to install older Firmware since it won't recognize the tablet since it only reboots into the recovery screen or copy the file onto the external Sd since the computer won't recognize it as well.

Currently the tablet only boots up in ClockworkMod Recovery and we can't seem to get Odin to install older Firmware since it won't recognize the tablet since it only reboots into the recovery screen or copy the file onto the external Sd since the computer won't recognize it as well.

Did he make a backup in cwm first? Try booting into recovery and selecting reboot and then download mode (Odin mode.) If that works, you can flash to stock jelly bean through Odin.

Try to take the SD card out and load software with pc directly to sd card (use an adapter if don't have a micro sd card slot , purchased with a micro sd card if necessary as any will work)

To enter the bootloader use Power + Volume Up
Then Odin should detect your device
Have you tried "factory reset" in recovery yet? Also as @rap3rman said you have to boot into DL mode before Odin will work. Try looking in tthe development section at the sticky posts for the everything thread and find a guide to help you along. 2 min of searching and you can find all kinds of good stuff here.

just return to stock via method 1 in this THREAD
after that flash twrp using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery \path\to\twrp-recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and from there you can install your zips (supersu or custom rom) via twrp install menu.
ps:
if you're searching for some additional guides... see this STICKY THREAD
I use wug fresh you can even return to stock and lock your boot loader

i try to return to stock via method 1 in above THREAD
it didnt finish install the os - pls look at the attached file
but now when i power on the phone instead of the google logo i stuck on the 4 round color of google
pls try to help...
any advice?
tnx
It looks like fastboot is having an issue with the size of the userdata.img. I would skip to method two in the linked thread and flash them all individually. Make sure that you have nothing running in the background on your PC to ensure it can handle the load.

You need to update your version of fastboot. Older versions don't handle the large system.img. Easiest way is to Google 15 second adb install xda. Just run that.

if you are stuck on the boot animation, possibly your persist partition is corrupt. If you can use adb (usb driver installed properly, usb debugging enabled) then all you need to do is root the device and read the steps in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-to-fix-persist-partition-t2821576
(The part of the fix for BT and wifi is optional IMHO) Once you fix the persist partition you can boot normally. Then you can reflash to stock.
