[Quide] Installing and Uninstalling Ubuntu Inside Windows - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello everyone today im gonna tell you how to install Ubuntu inside windows without messing up your partitions or your harddrive!
What is Wubi?
Wubi is an officially supported Ubuntu installer for Windows users that can bring you to the Linux world with a single click. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu as any other Windows application, in a simple and safe way. Are you curious about Linux and Ubuntu? Trying them out has never been easier!
How to Install Wubi/Ubuntu?
What we need is:
Installing WUBI
Click on the download button and Run Wubi Installer and follow the installation progress from inside Wubi you can choose Your disk space that you will choose for your Ubuntu Installation! and some other options like languege etc...
Reboot Part:
Now after you chosen that click next and the installation will begin let wubi do it's work, after the Download have finished you can choose from Reboot Now or Reboot manually later! I recommend the first option: Reboot now so go ahead and click on that!
Booting into windows FIRST:
After your PC is done rebooting you see a boot menu popping up there are 2 options Windows and Ubuntu What we now will do is choose WINDOWS FIRST! so boot into windows first windows may run a disk scan this can take a time depending on your hard drive Space, after windows is clearly booted up without any problems, go ahead and reboot your Pc again
Installing Ubuntu:
After the reboot is done And you are again in the BootUp menu Choose ubuntu now and let it start-up you see alot of stuff going on now after some time you will be welcomed to a installation screen of ubuntu click on install now and follow the installation procedure after the installation is done reboot ubuntu and you will be bringing back to the boot menu again choose Ubuntu and let it start-up after it's started up Ubuntu may ask for your password that you have set-up type in your password and log-in.
Congratulations you have installed Ubuntu!
You can now enjoy and figure out ubuntu
How to Uninstall Wubi/Ubuntu?
Shut down your pc if you are in Ubuntu if you already in Windows skip the ubuntu shut down part In Windows go to Configuration Panel and click on programma's after that search for ubuntu or Wubi and left mouse click on it and click on uninstall! so was that easy or not!
Greetings Safariking

WUBI is included in that ISO file right? So is there a need to download it separately?

Yes because you said that you do not need it

Actually, the link you've now included is just the 1.40MB sized WUBI installer.
The Ubuntu disk image specified here : http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop has the file WUBI already included inside the ISO file. So downloading this is what is needed.

Installed using only the Wubi file and it's working amazing!

[Q] Ubuntu Installation from USB

Hi Installed Ubduntu in my USB drive and booted ubuntu from my USB drive.. After that i created couple of shortcuts in my desktop and installed Real player for playing music.. i shutdown the PC after finishing my work.
But when i booted next time from USB in desktop noting was there and i couldn't find the programs i installed (Realplayer,Vlc)
Anybody can tell me why it is happening?
It sounds like you just installed the apps on the virtual drive and did not actually install it to the device
who can i change the installation location?
And wat about the files which i saved in my desktop?
What you have installed to your USB is the livecd, and not a persistent install. What you currently have now on your USB is the livecd, so you can try it out and install to your PC from the USB drive. There is a way to actually install it to your USB drive persistently. I would post the link here but I don't have enough posts yet, so you have to google
I don't know with which method you created the ubuntu stick. But i recommend doing it with the wizard tool from ubuntu.com.
Universal USB Installer

There you can also add persistence, which is then saving the changes you are making to the live system. Anyhow, for a real productive system i can only suggest to do a full install, instead of running it all from stick.
@Xadro
Thanks for ur response

I think your usb stick is too small try at least 2gb, the bigger the better.
Just been trying this myself with the newest version (1.8.4.5)
With my 1 gb stick i can't select persistance, with my 4 gb stick it gives me up to 2 gb persistence space.
I love ubuntu. However, I haven't installed it. Just usually boot it off of my usb. trying to find uses for it.
@Xadro
I tried with 4GB Perdrive and then i select 1GB persistence.. still whatever the program i installed will not be there once i reboot the PC.

vitrualBox in Ubuntu 12.04

hey guys im trying to use virtualBox on my Ubuntu machine. Im trying to run windows 7. Got it all set up and loaded with no problems. Heres where I cant get passed.
Im trying to get VB to utilize the entire screen space. Ive read through all the articles about installing the additions iso. I cant seem to find a good copy. Also I cant get Odin to recognize my phone either. I have USB set up in VB and can access the files on phone but cant get Odin to recognize it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can install guest additions from within VirtualBox. It shows up as a mounted CD drive. Open it, & run the appropriate script.
If your ultimate goal is to use Odin, though, I don't think it will work through VirtualBox. Maybe it's possible, but I think it needs direct access to the USB. You could just dual-boot Windows & do it directly.
Thanks for the info

thanx for the info dude. I guess i just assumed i could get it to work in a virtual machine. Could have swore Ive seen Adam doing it...mind u he is MUCH MUCH more educated than me. That is my goal. I have a linux machine and wanna use odin to flash Adams Odin root file for the Note 2. No problem running his CASUAL program, but need to root it first and as far as I can tell it needs to be done in Windows. I guess I can always turn a spare computer back into a windows machine...just didnt wanna have to go through the headache,.
Well, you can boot off a Ubuntu install disk (or make a GParted Live USB), then use gparted to resize your Ubuntu. Set a few GB aside for a new partition, then install Windows there, instead of installing Windows in the VM. It ends up being the same thing, just a few more steps to get it running.
Just make sure you back up your grub config and mbr. I don't think Windows would make your Ubuntu install vanish, but ya never know...

Oh, yeah. The default command to switch to fullscreen mode is Host+F, where the default Host key is Right Ctrl (so, RightCtrl+F).

does anyone have the solution to this ???? i've searched on google but no success!!!
Easiest way to solve it is probably just to do a reinstall. You did try that, right?

Strange, maybe 14.04 isn't compatible with your hardware somehow. Try 12.04 LTS

[Cube IWork12] Remove Android an install Debian or Ubuntu

Hello,
As the title says, I want to remove Android an install Debian or Ubuntu on my Cube IWork12. I think I can't make a normal installation because the setup doesn't have all drivers.
