See http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/. It is probably the easiest guide on how to install adb/fastboot.

I tried to install it, my path adress is:
%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\
I tried to add ;C:\Android at the end, but I can't get Fastboot to open! Help?

okay its my fault for accidentally deleting it but I need the sdk tools. i redownloaded it but instead of a sdk folder there is just a sdk doc file. i read it and downloaded everything through the sdk manager and the tools are still not there. im lost and i looked through the guides and didnt see anything there. so what do I do now?
http://http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Then run the Setup exe
im on a mac...guess i should have said that first but i found it...its just not in the sdk directory anymore...and thats wut i was looking for specifically...the sdk tools now ~/Android/tools
duh...simple answer...just overlooked it trying to get ready for work...lol

Hi,
I recently got ATRIX2 (MB865).
I own G-tablet where I use multiple ROMS and bit familiar with Custom ROMs, Flashing, Titanium Backup etc. However I never used ADB as it didn't needed.
My Question is do we need to install Android SDK for using ADB commands as explained on "how to Root?" thread. Is it necessary for both manual and 1-click methods?
I tried to use search but couldn't find much help. Hoping some one could help me out here. Sorry its such noob and repetitive question.
Thank you.

Yes you must have the Android SDK, for both the one click and the manual root options. The one click method also uses adb, which is just a utility that will get you a command prompt on the phones OS. The one-click is best for newbies, that run windows. If you don't run windows, then you will have to do the manual method.
Thank you!

Thank you. Now I installed Android SDK (including Eclipse though I understand it may not needed now) as explained on site.
When I navigate to platform-tools folder under android-sdk in command prompt and issue ADB command works as expected. How ever ADB command isn't working from C:\ . Do I need to update the PATH Environment to enable this? OR Can I put EXPLOIT folder under platform-tools and try for root ?
Please forgive my ignorance.
Thank you.

Hi,
is there a simple way to get adb drivers for my Nexus S 9023 for Windows XP32Bit?
I dont want to install the whole Andorid SDK on my Laptop, I think thats a little bit too much overhead to get MyPhoneExplorer up and running
Or am I thinking totally wrong? is there another way to get this running?
Hopefully someone can help me

Go here, scroll down to "Step 5" and download that .zip file. It has everything you need for fastboot and adb, and if you look in the video it'll show you how to install the drivers and get into the directory to use them via command line. No need for the whole SDK.
Thx,
this was exactly what I was looking for
everythink works now!

I tried to post this in the "Beginners Guide for Rooting" but I do not have privileges. I am trying to root my new s3 on a mac so I am trying to follow the guidance in section one of the guide. However the links for samsung drivers are in an .exe format and the link to the java jdk files has expired. I downloaded the samsung drivers from the link and opened the (.exe) file and I attempted to install another version of the java jdk. When I connect Adam's casual the app recognizes my phone but I am unable to see it on my Mac through Finder. Am I ready to flash if the casual app can see my phone? Or do I need the osx compatible samsung drivers (not with a .exe filename) and a specific version of java jdk?
Thanks in advanced for any help. I tried to search for the answers but I have been coming up empty. Even though casual see's my phone, I'm still not sure if its ok to start flashing.

I don't remember if my phone showed up on my Mac in finder, but Adam's casual recognized my phone, I rooted and unlocked using the tool and have been flashing ROMS ever since.

Did you download the samsung drivers in the link ( the .exe files) and install them on your mac? Also do you still have a copy of the java jdk files? The link in the "guide " is dead or the files have been moved. Thanks.
Mine did not show up in finder. I did have to download another program to interface with the phone. Just run Casuals and you will be fine.

If I remember correctly, you can't download the samsung drivers on a Mac. And no, sorry I don't have the files
There is no drivers for mac. The only thing that will show is a sdcard if you have one. You are good to use Casual.

Mine doesn't show the sdcard. I can use ADB but that's the only way I can communicate to my device over USB. I have't tried Casual.
Well I finally got home so I could use my Mac with my phone. Casuals worked great a couple of weeks ago as did adb. Now, I can't get either to work. I read that some are having issues with the usb ports on the newer MacBook Pros. I will do a little know testing and see if I can find a way to make it work post back. I tried rebooting, different cables, etc with no luck. If anyone knows anything, please chime in.

Okay, after a lot of digging, I finally figured out what I did. I take no credit for this, I found it on here in reply to a thread somewhere. I can't remember where as I usually view this site on my cell phone.
sudo kextunload -v /System/Library/Extensions/EasyTetherUSBEthernet.kext
from a terminal. I forget if you have to reboot or not.
This will disable tethering, but you can now see your device via adb.
To renable tethering once you're done debugging, use
sudo kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/EasyTetherUSBEthernet.kext
This is for EasyTether only, but I am sure that there could be another type of app that would do the same thing? If you could isolate the app, it should be as easy as replacing the EasyTether part of the command and running that. Good luck, I personally know how aggravating that things like this can be.
I'm not so sure is this tread better to be on themes and apps forum but did anbody know where I can found adb drivers for 32 bit Windows Vista

There are no adb "drivers" for Windows. ADB itself is usually obtained by downloading the Android SDK from Google ( http://developer.android.com ). There are also quite a few tools here at XDA that also contain ADB. Android Flash Recovery is one of those tools.

Installing the Samsung syncing software on windows will probably give you the usb drivers too.

That would be correct. Installing Kies will also install USB drivers. Still nothing to do with ADB as the OP is asking, although it could be a malformed question too.
Universal Driver
You can use the Universal ADB Driver by Koush plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/BQ5iYJEaaEH
"...This driver should work on all Android phones for all versions of Windows...."
