The interwebs today are a'blaze' with a rumored August 15th release of a Blaze Q - essentially a slider querty version of our blaze with a 720p display - that will launch with ICS. I don't care for rumors too much but I'm hopeful that the official T-Mo ICS for our blaze to be around August 15th - or about a month from now since the 2 blazes are rumored to be almost identical. Nothing official from T-Mo and as of today the support page still says release date TBD. Will we finally be getting ICS?

That's too long lol plus we need source which comes out up to 30 days after T-Mobile update :/

This is pretty much a failure on Samsung's part. This phone should have came with ICS too, honestly. Or at least it should have been released already.
Hopefully we can have an unofficial port of CM9 or JellyBean since the source was just released.

cm9 in time jelly bean it's eh also maybe since from api 15 to 16 wasn't that big of a jump
It could be sooner. I can't imagine T-Mo selling any Blaze 4g's on GB at all right next to the ICS Blaze Q's. Unless T-Mo is shipping all of their Blazes back to Samsung they need to have both of them running ICS by the 15th. I just don't see another price drop happening since the Blaze just dropped $50 not that long ago and is only 4 months old.
Ironic thing is by then we'll all likely be running a CM9 port from you and won't care until source is released

Relay 4g officially announced
...and it's identical to the Blaze minus ICS and the slider keyboard. Rumors had this device to based on the SGS3 with a S4 chipset but it is in fact what I thought it would be... an S3 with 5MP rear/1.3 MP front cameras, 4 inch SAMOLED display, 42Mbps '4g' from TMO.
Source article: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57...y-s-relay-4g-to-hit-t-mobile-in-coming-weeks/
So since these phones are nearly identical it would appear ICS will be released for us this month alongside the Relay.
I would also guess the delay has to do with the Apple lawsuit and Samsung needing to comply with their 'software enhancements' that were found to be infringing.

That's a big assumption. Usually they avoid upgrading a phone's OS when they have a nearly identical phone coming out because it can hurt the sale of the new phone.
Having a new phone that competes in the same space as the Blaze 4G is not a positive sign for us.

I'm not so sure. I believe the ONLY reason the Blaze was on the short list for the ICS update is because Samsung was planning on re-using the hardware from the Blaze to make a slider phone (aka the Relay) and put ICS on the re-released device. It just doesn't make any sense otherwise for this device to be getting the update.
Even if Samsung snubs us on ICS the Relay is so similar it may be very possible to develop ICS for the Blaze based on the Relay source (which from what I understand would be easier than porting the current GB source).
EDIT: I can find no information that the Relay will have a 720p display like was rumored. So the display will likely be the same as the Blaze too.
Doesn't the Relay use an s4 processor and the Blaze uses a s3? Wouldn't that make it harder to port

I will take your word for it... you know way more about it than I do (I'm just a noob after all lol). Still, from just looking at the specs everything about these phones (the Relay and Blaze) look exactly the same- same S3 @1.5, rear cam @5MP, front cam @1.3, same SAMOLED 4" 480x800 (driver may be slightly different), and perhaps the radio is different as well but it could be the same (after all they were calling this phone the Blaze 4G Q - there may be nothing different at all under the hood). I know the display is different for the S2 for sure along with the cameras.
I just wish things like this were simple (although I know they never are).
Stooopid question I'm sure, but how is it I can put ICS roms on my old Mytouch 4g and HP Touchpad, but not this phone?

Seriously if it were an easy thing to do, everyone would be making roms. It also depends on how many devs get the device in question among other factors.

OK, I just got eligible for an upgrade, and was about to pull the trigger on a Galaxy S2 when I picked up a Galaxy 8.9 Tab to play with. Long story short, I spent my upgrade money on it (and a sexy piece of hardware it is, IMO). So now I'm thinking about when to upgrade. I got to thinking about the fact that my Inspire does everything I want it to do right now (MIUI is sweet!). I'll have another upgrade coming in a couple of months (I steal my sons upgrades on my family plan and give him my hand me downs), so I have plenty of options. I also think that an upgrade unused is a waste of potential money.
So what's around the corner? Think the next best thing is coming out? I could just get the S2, keep the Inspire, and sell the new phone. I'm actually looking at the Skyrocket now, I like the idea of a little bigger screen, but 4.5" is about as big as I would go. Are there any other large screen phones on the horizon that I should be thinking about?
Check out the galaxy note!! One big ass phone/mini tablet.... ur choice!
Keep an eye out for the HTC Elite/Congressional. Should be announced at Mobile World Congress the end of next month, to be released this Spring. That is the one I'm looking for. No specs have been leaked on it, just the internal/rumored names and potential release date so far.

I'm thinking about getting the Galaxy Note this week...
The big screen will look weird when talking on the phone, but I'm looking forward to having a big screen for media, browsing the web, apps and stuff...
what do you guys think?
Personally I'd take a look at the Sony xperia ion... 12mp camera 1.5 duel core snapdragon processor and 4.6 in screen I don't have an upgrade for like over a year it sucks but it looks sexy hehe

i woulda been so bored of my inspire by now, but with all the cool roms i can play with its distracting. 12 months to go for upgrade, hope i can last!

My thoughts exactly. With such an active community for the Inspire 4G / Desire HD, an "upgrade" is only a flash away.
Speaking of upgrades, LorD ClockaN has an ICS rom in beta here:

Very smooth. I've been using it as my daily rom for the last two betas. Only problems are a glitchy camera and problems making calls over Bluetooth.

This is good advice, especially with MWC only a month away. I don't know about you, but I'd be kicking myself if I upgraded now only to see a whole host of slick new phones coming out in the near future. I wonder if global smartphone sales drop before MWC due to this.

Do you know how many dev work on international sgs2? They have dev thread full of devs from all over the world. I can guess about 20 devs or more and they have tons of roms and kernels. We have bunch of devs too but idk who will bring it on skyrocket. I am not talking about official ics either.
They got a leak. What can we expect you asked? No one knows it may or.may not get leaked. Depends on if anyone has a friend inside.. which i dont believe anyone on ou..r forum does so dont expect a leak if it happens great but just because the gs2 did does not mean anything for us. Ours is a completly different phone..
+1 Amen... Cant wait for ICS for S/R, will keep an eye out for CM9-stable in the meantime..
Knowing AT&T, they'll want to keep their latest and greatest phone with the greatest network up to date with the greatest software, so they probably have an alpha build of ICS for our phone, just no leak.
Hate to burst people's hopes, I saw posted somewhere in Twitter that someone had leaked a document showing the unverified release dates for various phones to get ICS.. however, the Samsung Galaxy S II series phones will NOT be seeing anything on ICS until approximately April 2012.
Now I know our phones are part of the SGS2 series, but don't know if it's included in that approximate release date !!

Lmao, yeah, I'm sure AT&T really cares about updates. That's why they haven't even bothered to push out the already completed Infuse Gingerbread update, even though that's one of their most popular phones.
I guarantee you this: The international Galaxy S II LTE and/or the T989 will get their release first, and we'll all be flashing ROMs based on that long before AT&T gets around to doing an update.

Yeah, this is actually a possibility. The Skyrocket HD might come with ICS, in which case we'll have it too around the same time.
Luckily there are a LOT of popular variants of our hardware that feature largely identical internals, so I'm not too worried about us having to wait TOO long.
That's the main reason I didn't get the Captivate Glide, even though I love landscape keyboards. The Tegra internals and Samsung's lack of firm commitment on updates were enough to scare me away.
I need to know I'm going to have ICS, and the Skyrocket, Vivid, and Galaxy S II were really the only sure things for ICS on AT&T.

you can install TMOBILE GS2 roms with skyrocket kernel, but not any other GS2 roms.
Why does everyone try and speculate? Patience people.... Nothing is different from the original statement from Samsung and it doesn't change anything trying to interperate things differently than what they are. And NO, the Galaxy S2 is not categorized the same at the Skyrocket.

Official statements:
Samsung Electronics plan to provide the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for GALAXY devices. The platform update for GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow.
The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.
For upgradable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers' requirements. [December 20, 2011]

We can use T-Mobile Galaxy S II (SGH-T989) roms, but NOT international GS2 or AT&T GS2 roms. VERY important distinction.
Our phone is the Galaxy S II LTE internationally. It's totally different hardware from the main GS2. T-Mobile's thing isn't LTE but uses the same hardware as ours for related reasons (needing a different modem than the one in the Exynos).
I think the Touchwiz will kill it. Pure 4.0 Vanilla is the best!
I brought up the thread for ICS which was a happy thing, but this is a sad topic. According to the att website, it is no longer available. It was on sale for a year, and it was one of ATT's biggest selling phone for a long time. It is now retired What are your thoughts on this? Btw heres the link to prove: http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/cellphones.html
the infuse was out of production within about 3 months of release. any infuses sold after that were either overstock or refurb. this is no new news. no surprise. it's a nice phone with nice cameras and a big readable screen but it was the last single core flagship phone and was released after dualcores were common. it's out of date and less powerful than many second rate phones on the market today in processing power.
i dont think a better phone is necessary, but the hardware profile combined with the samsung firmware keeps rom ports from ever being viable without sacrifices. as much as i have loved the phone it's about to be time for something new.
I completely agree with Dani, when i purchased my infuse i knew it was second string with the galaxy s 2 already out. I was on a tight budget and it was the best option and im not surprised it is no longer for sale especially with the s3 coming very soon!
This is saddening but understandable news. I bought my Infuse back in November 2011, non-contract for $485 after taxes at my local AT&T store, the sales rep actually brought me out a Galaxy S II at first and asked me if I wanted that instead.
I paused for a moment and told him I did my research on both phones and told him I preferred the Infuse's specs. Was satisfied with the RAM, the single core, and impressed that it had better battery life; not to mention it was a good $100 cheaper. I was coming from the Motorola Backflip and just couldn't take the constant slow downs and limited internal storage any longer, and a bigger screen was what I needed.
Fast forward a few months, and here we are coming up on the stateside release of the Galaxy S III and ya know what, I'm still Infuse strong. Samsung did a better job on this phone than they realized. I'm not likely to get an S III because I'm still satisfied with this phone, even with my upgrade available in August. Don't get me wrong, the S III is an impressive phone in its own right, but now that we have ICS, I see no reason to jump ship, mine is sailing smoothly

I dumped an Atrix for the Infuse and couldn't be happier. Faster boot, bigger screen and it performs better, running non rooted one-click 2.3.6.

With GOOG's announcement of a line of GNex devices this year I'm waiting on their offerings before giving up my Infuse to the kids.

I'd recommend the Ebay markets to get good deals if you're asked for a good non-contract smartphone.
Ohh on an off topic note. I tried to copy a home vid to my Mom-InLaw's new iP 4s and I couldn't. Even with iTunes and imported the video, I couldn't just copy it to the phone.

Where's the race?
I use Go, and their last update introduced the ics animations for the app drawer. If all you are looking for is the feel and look, there are plenty of options via gingerbread. None really being the "winner" as with most things...its about personal preference.

Amazonwireless show they are still available...$99.00 for a family plan update or .01 for an individual account upgrade.

Stop... Please stop.
There's absolutely NO REASON to buy an Infuse when the SGS2 i777 has been going on sale for $9.99 new directly AT&T.
If you qualify for a subsidized upgrade and don't mind being stuck in another two year contract do yourself a favor and get a SGS3, SGS2, or SGS2 Skyrocket.
This phone is dead to Samsung. There will be no further updates. While the devs here are doing great work, the most stable ROMs are derived from official releases or leaks from Samsung.
My Infuse was a great phone but it's been relegated to being a backup phone/MP3 player.

I wasn't advocating that anyone purchase this phone. This thread was titled "Infuse No Longer Available".....I was stating that yes they are still available.
I got my Infuse earlier this year, just wanting to get rid of my iPhone. Android is better on any and every occasion. Now I just wish that I had got the GS2 or saved up for the note...

I thought I would get some feedback from fellow One S users: I just saw how frickin' awesome Jelly Bean is going to be, and have come across an opportunity to trade my One S for a GNex (which has already begun receiving the JB update). Given how long it takes for HTC to roll out ANYTHING, should I make that jump? I know there are a few trade offs, namely an inferior camera on the GNex. But JB looks so sweet, and I am a HUGE fan of vanilla Android. What do others think?

I know the One S has better specs, but who knows how long we will be waiting for JB. I guess my main gripe with the One S is how we're stuck with Sense. I tolerate it, but I vastly prefer vanilla Android and AOSP. I know some AOSP builds have made progress but still have problems with no real solutions in sight yet, like camera and connectivity issues.

I was thinking about the same thing too but i'm just gonna keep the One S.
weeks from now we'll get it ported and our device will be SWEET!
Hopefully within 6 months HTC will give us an OTA update also.
Nexus has the better screen+NFC+JB but our One S is superior in design, power, camera, & sound.

I hope it's just weeks. The One X port gives me hope that JB is on the way. 6 months just seems so long when it's already out now. And if it's a Sense update that HTC rolls out...ehh.

Lol ics is still pretty new, and cm9 is stable... just saying. Enjoy it. JB isn't much different anyway. Nothing like GB to ICS

I'm in the same kind of boat. but it seems the nexus has held its price very well! selling the one s in UK second hand, you would probably only see about £200-£240
Hopefully you are getting cash on top seeing as how a new GNex is only $350.

I do not know which rom you have tried but I am on CM9 alpha 12 and most everything works including camera. Its my daily driver and with no over clock have scored 5300 on quadrant plus have almost 400 mb of ram.

Things are working to a degree but CM9 is still far from my daily driver standards. I check that thread all the time and keep seeing issues pop up, particularly with picture/video recorder quality, which is a deal breaker for me.
And I would be getting money on top for the GNex, if this guy ever gets back to me. I wouldn't even really need much back to even out what I spent since I talked the T-Mo reps down to $100 for my One S when I got it.

HTC is not TOO bad when it comes to releasing software updates. It certainly is not the worst, *cough* Samsung. Once Google officially releases the source of Jellybean, HTC will begin updating Sense to 4.1. It's safe to say that we would not receive and update until at least 1-2 months after the release; possibly more, depending on HTC's developers. One thing I am skeptical about is waiting to T-Mobile to release their version of HTC Sense with T-Mobile apps and bloatware. If anyone is on stock T-Mobile waiting for an update, this is one thing to consider. I am sure this will not take long as all T-Mobile has to do is add its apps and bloat ****, then release it.
Regarding the difference between the GN and HOS handsets, our device is much better; at least, in my opinion. We have a MUCH better build quality (metal, sleek). We also have better specs, albeit, no sdcard slot. Just because a device gets and update first does not mean it is the best. The GN has it first because it is still the flagship stock Android device as it is a Nexus device. If our HOS was on stock ICS with no Sense, we would get the update at the same time as well, most likely. In sum, we just have to wait a bit longer
EDIT: benchmark scores do not mean ****.

Since t-mo HOS is identical to its international counterpart, we will be able to install the official update almost as soon as it comes out. (and the devs get their hands on it :fingers-crossed

Haha yes, since fwdkiller pulled a **** move and wasted my time I found a seller who wanted to trade a mint One S + a Benjamin for my Note. Screen feels tiny but I like how smooth it runs with the krait chip.

Dude, you made out like a thief at an art gallery. You probably could get 420 for the phone [from my offers] and getting a hundred. You got more than most people would get for a note. Congratulations.

I hope that you haven't made this premature nd stupid move till now, and if you did than you sure be regretting it.
We already have a almost everthything working JB CM10 (there's ur vanilla jellybean experience) and also HTC has officially announced that One S will get JB update soon and have already started working on it.
We would definately get official JB within 2 months max and that as good as it gets.

The choice was taken out of my hands:
Boss: "Hey what's this Android phone I hearing you guys debate about all the time?" (My boss is a bit of a technologically challeneged guy; he still uses Blackberry and had me set it up for him when he got it)
Me: (insert my explanation of Android, Jelly Bean, and the iOS v. Android argument here)
Boss: "Wow that sounds pretty awesome. What phone comes with that new Jelly Bean thing?"
Me: "It's going to start rolling out to the newer Android phones over the next few months, but the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has it now."
Boss: "Great! Order me one and set it up, would you? And grab one for yourself while you're at it."
(Tosses me his credit card)

i was just wondering if anyone knew or knows of any information about the HOX getting jellybean. it did come stock with ics so i guess it has a better chance of getting jellybean.
its a current flagship phone, it'll get jellybean.
I'm sure it will. The device is still brand new. And someone correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't HTC responded saying they are looking into it. That said, it doesn't mean that the incredible devs here won't he able to get it working.

well correct me if im wrong but the sky rocket was not as great as the gsII? i had the gs2 and i seen no point in upgrading for that one i might think that is why though imo
based on htc's wonderful job on updates in the past , im thinking sometime early 2013 if we are lucky.

I was pretty sure myself that the Sky Rocket was just a cash in. The GS II itself was the important phone at the time, but they did not get it out of the door with LTE. However, AT&T wanted to have a GS II with LTE so the Skyrocket came to fill that void.
That was my interpretation, but as always I could be incorrect. I admittedly didn't follow that closely since I was happy with my Atrix
