Userthread in the General section:
[ROM][CM9] ParanoidAndroid [Userthread]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What is it?
PAD (Per App Density) - choose a custom density for each of your apps!
PAL (Per App Layout) - chose PhoneUI or TabletUI for each of your apps!
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.
Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course.
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on.
This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size.
You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

Known bugs: (build 12)
To refresh the HwaSettings database you need to clear it's data.
Some apps don't like non-stock DPI values and will FC. Solution: Settings - Paranoid Settings - List of apps and apply "PhoneUI" + "Stock DPI (Phone)"
This fixes 99% of all app FC's!
Same bugs as all CM9 ROMs for the 2x due to the missing LG blobs (no full Chrome / Opera support, no video recording etc.)

Instructions:
Flash ROM + Hybrid Gapps
Advanced - Fix permissions
Reboot
Do another reboot!
You don't need to do a full wipe. Just flash and wipe cache + dalvik.
If you want to keep your customized densities then make a backup of your pad.prop file with the "ParanoidAndroid Backup" app!
If you're coming from another ROM a full wipe highly recommended. It might work without if you come from another CM9 based ROM but: don't even dare to post any bug reports when you didn't do a full wipe!
Don't restore system apps (like Settings) or system data (like Wifi data) with TitaniumBackup!
You'll find a new Settings entry "Paranoid Settings" where you can setup all the magic
By default I set it up to use the standard Phone UI and disabled the navigation bar which I don't need.
But you can enable it at Settings - System - Navigation bar!
If you want to use adb, here are my modded adb drivers for ICS.
If you have a problem please have a look at the Known bugs and Q&A before you post in this thread.
If you want me to look into an issue attach a logcat, I will most likely ignore bugreports without a logcat.

Q&A
Q: Some apps Force Close for me
A: Some apps don't like non-stock DPI values and will FC.
If an app Force Closes go to Settings - Paranoid Settings - List of apps and apply "Stock DPI (Phone)" (or custom 240 which is the same thing).
For apps with widgets also check the "Force Scaling (widgets)" option. After a reboot your problems are gone.
This fixes 99% of all app FC's!
The next 0.5% are caused by restores from TitaniumBackup. Please try to avoid any unnecessary restores!
Q: My status bar disappeared?
A: Hold power button until Power Menu comes up, click Expanded Desktop.
Q: Video recording isn't working
A: Yes, that's LG's fault, we need the official ICS release for that. You can use "Videocam illusion" from the playstore. No HD but at least recording is working with it.
Q: Paranoid Android settings force closing?
A: Clear data for "Settings" and see if that works. If it doesn't, did you do a full wipe before installation? If you didn't, then that is most likely the problem.
Q: My Youtube videos won't play?
A: Turn phone to landscape mode, and turn off the HD option.
Q: I saw something about a hotfix in the thread, do I still need to flash that?
A: No, you only need to flash hotfixes if they're mentioned in the first post. If not the hotfixes are already baked in into the newest version.
Q: I don't have the on-screen navigation buttons? I want those bacause it looks nice in Tablet UI!
A: Go to Settings> System> Navigation bar> Softkeys, also works without Tablet UI.
Q: No USB mounting support for my SD card?
A: The stock kernel doesn't support UMS. Flash a custom one (like Harsh's) and go to Settings> Storage> Menu> USB computer connection.
Q: The Stock browser crashes from time to time.
A: Yes, the Stock browser crashes when turning from landscape to portrait. The ROM now supports HWA settings, so all you need to do is disable the HWA for browser to fix the rotation crash.
Q: What are the major bugs in this ROM?
A: Nothing ROM related! There are only the typical ICS bugs. We need the official ICS release by LG to solve them. Examples are no video recording(Camera does work though).
Q: Does Chrome work?
A: Nope! Cnrome does not work because of missing drivers. We need the official ICS build for the Optimus 2x.
Q: My font size is rather small?
A: Increase either the default or the apps specific density at Settings> ParanoidSettings or go into Settings> System> Font Size> and choose another font size.
Q: I've changed some things in Paranoid Settings. After rebooting, these Settings now force close, what do I do?
A: Just reflash the ROM without wipe. This will fix it because it replaces the (modified)pad.prop in /system with an unmodified stock(as the ROM came) pad.prop.
Q: When switching through homescreens, I get a blue outline of the screen and I don't like it, how do I get rid of that?
A: Go to Settings> Launcher> General> Disable the "Tablet effects" option. Then go to the Homescreen settings an change the Transition effect to Standard.
Q: My alarm didn't ring today, so I was late for work, then I got fired, then my house got reposessed, then my car gave out of gas, so now I'm just sitting under a bridge with my phone and what little battery I have left. Why didn't my alarm go off?!
A: This was probably a bsod (black screen of death). All phones react different to different kernels, you have to try yourself which one works best for you. Don't undervolt! Undervolting increases the chance of bsods a lot. If this only happens during charging it's a charging bsod with an easy solution: Go into Settings - Developer Options and check "Stay awake"(No man's financial life was harmed in the making of the above question)
Q: Does the HDMI connection work?
A: Yes! The HDMI connection works at full 1080p HD, just not at 720p though(just like CM7, and any other ROM). Just plug it in and it recognizes it just fine!
Q: When using a root checker, I got a failed root check(saying I'm not getting root access). What do I do?
A: Try wiping the data of Superuser. If that doesn't work, try updating the SU binary, or the app itself. If that doesn't work, the ultimate solution is to wipe data(a complete data wipe/factory restore in CWM to be specific), and reinstall the ROM, this might not work however, a trick that has been used by a fellow Optimus 2x user, found that he had to erase all internal memory in "Mount Storage". But, in reality, there is NO need for a root checker if everything else Superuser related works, so don't worry!!
Q: Can you include the Optimus 4x lockscreen?
A: Unfortunately: No - and there's nothing I can do about that as long as the ParanoidAndroid team doesn't release it's source.
Q: Why isn't Opera working?
A: The newer versions aren't working on P99x ICS unfortunately. You need to use Opera Mobile v11.5.3 or Opera Mini v6.5.2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extras/Fixes!
Some settings menus are not reachable in TabletUI and Portrait view, the problem is the too small screen size.
For example: Settings - Security - Screen lock - Pattern: The Next and Cancel buttons are missing in TabletUI.
There are three workarounds:
Most of the times it's enough to just tilt the device into landscape, the missing settings will appear due to a specific landscape layout.
Setting the Tablet DPI (128) does make it work, but it will get pretty tiny.
Last but not least: Apply PhoneUI (and if needed even a dpi of 240).
Thanks to our good friend cyansky_1, he has found a solution to APN's disappearing, he has made a thread in the General section that tells all about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823097
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P999 specific:
Q: What kernels should I use or are available for this ROM?
A: Harsh Kernel: http://bit.ly/Nkvc3C
Jarvis Kernel: http://bit.ly/M2tkRv
Morfic Trinity Kernel(Only flashable on the non-touch ClockworkMod recovery): http://bit.ly/lICWzJ
Faux123 Kernel(Look for the P999 ICS kernel!): http://faux.androidro.ms/
Quick tip-
Faux kernels have two versions: The "sv", or standard volt version, which starts at 1.0 GHz, and goes up to 1.55 Ghz, and is not undervolted, the kernel that does not say "sv" in it's name, is the already overclocked kernel, it starts at 1.1 GHz, and goes up to 1.55 GHz. Remember, get the latest version for ICS!
Q: What baseband can I use this on?
A: Any! This rom supports all old and the (new one(if you have a noise problem with calls)), just read here: http://bit.ly/OlC3eT
Quick tip-
March 2011 baseband: Slow GPS locks(cold start), worst call quality out of all three, possibility of slower data speeds
July 2011 baseband: Slightly faster GPS locks(cold start), slightly better call quality, possibility of faster data speeds
March 2012 baseband: Fastest GPS locks so far(cold start, ~8 seconds for me inside, with wifi off), best call quality, possibility of faster data speeds, screen of death issues fixed for the most part
Q: I'm having MMS(Picture Messaging) issues?
A: Switch to data, Wifi MMS is a pain. I've always had the problem of MMS over Wifi on any ROM every now and then. Data always works, though!
Q: Bluetooth calling doesn't work?
A: Nope, not if you're on the March 2012 baseband, to fix this you have to use the kdz method, download the V21E.kdz and read this, it should help: http://bit.ly/PkCK6P
Q: Wifi calling force closes?
A: Go to Settings> Paranoid Settings> List of Apps> Click "All" tab> Scroll down to wifi calling> Click it. Now select phone UI in first box, then Stock UI in the second box, hit save! The reason for wifi calling force closing is because T-Mobile made the app specific to the 240 ppi because the G2x is stock 240 ppi, therefore the app will force close when not in its correct density.
Q: My data drops when on Facebook and in the Play Store and various other apps, what's happening? It's annoying.
A: This happens to us all. GPS is kicking in when using those apps. It's a problem that started way back when 4.0.4 became available. To fix this go to Settings> scroll down to Location Services> and unclick the option that says GPS Satellites. Remember! Re-enable this option when you need GPS!
-Thank you all for these questions, and these answers! And this will be updated in the future!

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, and indeed it's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank.
Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. i'm calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.

still thank you both for making your posts as short as possible!

Sorry didn't know you guys were still posting.

Same here, and took off my sig, it was obnoxious anyways, so I changed it. This will be my last off-topic post on this thread.

I'm downloading, going to try this.

The link for the gapps is painfully slow.. Is it me or anybody has the same issue?

If possible, could you provide a mirror for the gapps? It will take me 30 minutes to download while the rom took me if anything a minute or two.

[R.I.P.] [ROM][AOSP][09Jun] -=BlackICEv1.60=- [2.3.7][LMUE8.9CFSb7][OC2.0GHz]

Welcome to BlackICE
Dear Friends, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Mr BlackICE died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was an excellent ROM with a stylish physique and good battery usage. He had a long life and continued to be popular in his later years even after the younger generations of ICS and Jellybean sprang up. I know he will be missed by many.
+ + + R.I.P BlackICE + + +

What is BlackICE?
BlackICE is a CyanogenMod derivative; modular, extensible and dark... Very dark
Heavily tweaked to boost battery life and performance, fine tuned for Desire HD and Inspire 4G
All the great features of the LordModUE kernel
This is an open project, we accept cooperation and patches
You can build your own BlackICE
Friendly Advice
If you are flash BlackICE over a different (not BlackICE) ROM a full wipe / factory reset is required
Remember Mom's advice: brush your teeth everyday and take the 5 minutes to backup before flashing

Advanced install options
You can push a text file in /sdcard/blackice/autorun.txt with custom options for every flash.
See the example file
icetool script will take care of them and apply your typical options prior to first boot!
Current supported options at boot time:
Code:
# Switch gps.conf for your country (see /sdcard/blackice/gpsconf/*)
gpsconf [COUNTRY]
# Switch ril from the default (rils on /sdcard/blackice/ril/*)
ril [RIL_VERSION]
# Set LCD density
density [190|200|240]
# Boot sound off

overlay /system /sdcard/blackice/system
# Uncomment this if you want to overlay an existing
# directory hierarchy on sdcard over /data
overlay /data /sdcard/blackice/data
# Uncomment this if you want to enable braviaengine
braviaengine on
Renice script:
You can push a text file in /sdcard/blackice/renice.txt with custom renice of process.
These values won't be applied until you run the "Autorenice processes" option of icetool
If you need a decent app to change them and persist them, then buy SysTune from market.
See the example file icetool script will take care of them and apply your typical options when clicked on that options.
Code:
# Example renice.txt file
# Below a list of processes that should be reniced
# #1 : Process name
# #2 : Priority (ranging -20 to +19, being -20 realtime prio and +19 idle prio)
#
# These priorities are only applied *after* running "Autorenice" option of ICETool

How to enable BLN:
You can enable BLN (ButtonLightNotification) by going to CyanogenMod settings -> Interface -> LED notifications -> Advanced -> Use BLN
If you want to have a toggle in the statusbar got to
CyanogenMod settings -> Interface -> Notification power widget -> Widget buttons -> Toggle BLN
changing the order is just as usual in Widget button order.
If you want to disable it for certain apps, you can do this by disabling the LED in this specific app. That is the only way because BLN is bound to the LED flag. Introducing a new Flag makes no sense because it is not in the tools that App developers can use.
General idea behind the framework modification:
The general idea was to make the softkeys flash whenever a new notification arrives. However, there is a problem with that. Other than the "normal" LEDs (LCD-backlight and softkey-backlight, the notification-LED has a file called "blink" in
Code:
/sys/class/leds/green/
So you only need to write "1" into the file and the hardware will do the rest. (https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_ace/blob/gingerbread/liblights/lights.c, l.116)
Therefore I switched to only turn it on when the screen is off and a notification arrives. Having it turned on instead of blinking takes slightly more power, but has the same visual effect, because you would still notice it, as it normally is off when the screen is off.
Changes I made:
These are the currently up to date changes:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,11716
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,11717
To-Do:
I think Danny Baumann has a point when he said, it would be better to implement it device-specific because there are devices like the Samasung Galaxy S II that have this feature in a (custom) kernel. I don't know how to do framework changes device-specific though. But I am still learning and there should be a way. https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_htc_ace/blob/gingerbread/ace.mk looks key.
Update #1:
Danny pointed me to motorola jordan https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_motorola_jordan
So I will try to make AceParts and the corresponding changes in liblights/lights.c. If it doesn't go into CM then, I don't know what else to do

FAQ
SysTune discussion thread If you want to discuss your experience with various settings or see what others use then i hope you help filling up this thread
Works wonders with BlackIce
FAQ - thx maatsby
Q: How do i flash this?
A: MAKE A BACKUP!
If this is your first time = Full Wipe
If you're coming from an older version = Just flash (it will wipe cache's for you)
Q: What is the recommended radio?
A: There's no universal Radio + RIL solution in this ROM, nor any AOSP. You have to experiment
Lots of people use the newest 26.13.04.19_M. But it depends on your region, area, mobile phone carrier, ...
Q: What is the recommended RIL?
A: There's no universal Radio + RIL solution in this ROM, nor any AOSP. You have to experiment
All the G rils are there in ICE Tool for you to test what fits better
Q: But those guys at the radio thread told me that I must use XXXX-HM RIL for my YYYY radio.
A: Quoting kitecarl: As the saying goes, "Friends don't let friends flash H-RILs on CM7-based ROMs."
Seriously - stick with ONLY the G-RILs that come with ICETool and all will be good in the world.
Q: Something isn't working / is Force Closing!
A: This is a work in progress. If this is a new problem, report it in the thread.
BUT SEARCH FIRST. Chances are two other people have noticed this and reported it already
Q: How do I get a banner in my signature? How can I theme? I hate the default look!
A: Look at the user contributed extras such as BlackICE graphics thread by jameslsmith or BlackICE MODs: Battery and Notification mods by baltazar.nilsson. Or revert back to default CM looks by using the original SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk
Q: What is undervolting?
A: Changing the voltage available to each CPU frequency. Use ICE Tool or the Systune app (or both) to play with this
Proceed with caution. Freeze / reboot / crazy behaviour is a possibility
Q: Why does the market say this app is incompatible with your device?
A: This is due to the dpi. Sorry, but google doesn't like you to mess with dpi. If you use default device 240 it will work. However, if you want to use different density such as BlackICE default 200, either use the old market, or change the dpi to 240 in ICETool, download your app, then change it back. If you use the tool, Market app data will be cleared to make it work
3 in 1? I think so! Fantastic work guys

Google Now is now standard and only choice because of installation issues..
Supercharger removed for stability.

Trackball Alert Patch to custom colors using lihermits app
v0.14 /28.06/
Camcorder is working, native omx encoding is working.
I've been lucky and can somehow play my recorded videos but reports say that it shouldn't do that.
Issues: video is capped at 15fps so it is a little choppy, recorded video is rotated 90 degrees
Usb tether is working, not 100% native, using a motorola tethering apk that runs in the background, but for the regular user no difference then regular tethering. (same as cm uses btw)
New options in evtoolbox
Moved stk.apk to system/app partition as it didn't work properly for cm7r2
v0.13.1 /16.06/

Added new adhoc (need testing)
Fixed bad wifi from last release
Added some stuff in build.prop (thx dk_zero, mms might work as in his ROM now)
Removed both dhcpd choice from aroma
*This release is mainly for testing out the linero toolchain, that's why it's missing some improvments. I need to know if I should continue on this or if I should go back to google before I use more time fixing camera and usb tether etc.
v0.12 /11.06/
Not many major changes for us:
probably 200+ new commits here. Vast majority do not concern Desire. but thought it was worth mentioning
bump IMM76L
surfaceflinger hacks: make ui smoother (error in makefile prevented them from being turned on before)
Added Dk_zero's script to stop bsod while charging
Also removed shaky's kernel as that causes the most problems.
Camera seems broken (video only)/ Will try fix it asap
v0.11 /03.06/
lockscreen 'wave' animations will follow re the unlock around (not just go right)
180 degree (upsidedown) rotation support
kernel updated: kgslv3.8, tiny rcu optimizations, autogroup, bfqv3r2, smartassv2, armv7 changes from caf (only stock kernel)
newer adreno libs: in combination with kernel updates should make ui noticeably smoother (same as for tiamat/shaky kernel)
updated cli tools: htop v.9, busybox updated 1.20.1, a2sd cleanup: checkext should work better.
Did fix some errors in updater script
Hopefully fixed "patched" gmaps (give wrong msg in aroma tough, havn't tested it)
Updated gapps
Did a "fix" on shaky's kernel that MIGHT solve BSOD while charging, not during regular use!
And quite a few things more that I forgot to write down before my PC crashed once again
v0.10.1 /28.05/
Fixed an error in build.prop that might have caused problems
Fixed supercharger v6 so it works.
This also stops reboot when installing apps
Updated kernel, a test kernel based on tiamat. Seems BSOD free!
v0.10 /26.05/
Readded a choice for stable kernel (old hwa)
Using the same adrenos as in 0.8 instead of 0.9, (increases bootime, but more stable)
Freed more space for cm7r2 + data++ to ensure no space issues
Gallery and panorama should now work for cm7r2
Some minor fixing with scripts
Slow wifi download is resolved for me at least
Based on a newer evervolv build (thx shaky)
Most of these changes isn't that effectful because camera didn't work out of the box so to get camera working then I had to "sacrifise" some of the new stuff. Nothing major and will give a detailed list later.
*Disclaimer
In one of the 3 installs I did my market was borked. Rebooted each time I downloaded an app. This was fixed by reflashing (with wipe)
**Seems it's supercharger that causes the problem, so avoid it this version
v0.9 /22.05/
Boot time improved
Removed sullier script and battery mod for now (will return when kernel is stable)
Also will delete those scripts at install
Updated drewis kernel
Updated shaky's kernel (Stock and strongly recommended)
Tried once again to fix gallery + maps issue for cm7r2 and data++
Some more things
DO A FULL WIPE TO ENSURE PROPER TESTING
v0.8.1 /18.05/
Two new kernels added one from shaky (stock)
and one from Drewis.
They are based on different sources so havn't had time testing both properly but
[B]BOTH GIVES BETTER HWA[/B]
KGSL: update from hacked 3.7 -> pure caf 3.8
BFQ: update v2 -> v3r1 CPUFREQ: ondemand: updates from caf and shaky156 MISC: updates from caf (mainly to build new ksgl);
Added the newest adreno libs
Added sulliers script which is a "New" cpu scaling
Fixed some permissions
Oh and added some theme changer (some evervolv thing) not very useful tbh
v0.8
Patch isn't a 100% full update but it's close so if you only want to patch 0.7 that's fine.
[B]Patch + full ROM [/B]
Camera is now fully working (all features, it's still possible with improvent)
Youtube is also working as stock. To get stock videoplayback flash [url=http://w289670.open.ge.tt/1/files/8U5MlhH/0/blob?download]this[/url] (unstable) Use MxPlayer instead

Added hacked gmaps for those wanting that
Added Smooth Scolling + more volume steps patch
Added supercharger script
v.0.5.3 /07.04/
Video encoding is somewhat working, have had reports that panorama is also working (might need newest/the unstable camera to work)
Barcode scanner option should now work

Upgraded to 4.0.4 version
Added two more options to aroma:

barcode scanning should work(tested w/ google goggles) (panorama, video have issues, also there is a memory leak, leaving the camera app open for 2+min will cause OOM to kill the system server possible causing a reboot)

-boot issue fixed from 4.2
-dhcp fixed from 4.2
Updated Amarullz a2sd
+ some other small things
v0.4.2 /29.02/
Phone should not lockup anymore when rotating display. Landscape mode is still strange, status bar is rendered halfway off screen...but only when rotating right...going left its fine
Moved to cayniarbs stock(ish) kernel with my kgsl commits and ksm/zram backported from 3.0
EVtoolbox: new menu 'performance' control zram(aka compcache) and ksm, both disabled by default. ksm will reduce memory overhead by 10-15mb with minimal cpu usage (0-1%). ive read that ksm likes to have swap (10% zram should be enough) but*youll have to experiment and see. also added 'processor' menu (also from cm) to view/control cpu stats.
Apps2sd: support moving /data/data, (run 'a2sd install' again and choose y when asked about appdata) im still wary of how to handle wipes when appdata2sd is active. so ive added two functions to a2sd: 'nodatasd' which removes appdata2sd flag and optionally removes the appdata from sdcard and 'nosysdata' which removes only the system appdata (ie anything starting with com.android) from the sdcard
Browser: i revised hwcomposer. redering is faster < 1 to 2 secs max under heavy scrolling
Rebooting issues should be resovled
Added /system/etc/sysctl.conf to set various vm values. Feel free to modify to your liking
Updated both Nova and Apex launchers
Camera preview is still broke.

.. And so on
v0.4.1.4 /17.02/

Edited updater-script to work properly
Moved Bootanimation to free up space for cm7r2.
Reverted Google Talk aswell.
v0.4.1.1 /16.02/
Sorted contact sync.
Removed setup wizard because of FC issues.
v0.4.1 /16.02/
kernel update: 32bit color (fixes gradient backgrounds)
hwcomposer: rewrote from scratch for qsd8k. (main fix is screen off animation)
statusbar: new toolbox, settings button back to opening settings (swipe to change screens). notifications back to stock behavior. toolbox can even be turned off in evtoolbox
browser: slowed rendering, (fuzzy text takes a few seconds to clear up) is much faster now. (1-2 sec instead of 4-5)
Added aGPS as a option instead
Updated gapps.
known issues:
reboots under heavy load, it seems this is an out of memory error: ics seems to be a huge memory hog now that opengl is enabled. can be partially remedied by using a large swap partiton (i set mine at 256mb and haven't had a reboot since) or you can try setting 0 swap and see what happens. ive also changed a couple dalvik-heap properties but im still investigating work arounds and/or a fix.
removed omx libs due to build error (just use the ones from p8 if you really want them)
rotation still broke, seems to lockup the most on the home screen.
and everything else that was broke in 0.4.0RC5
v0.4.0RC5 /15.02/
Fixed most of the coloring issues
The modded mms.apk now work (choice in Aroma)
Data ++ have their own optimized installation
v0.4.0RC3 /14.02/
Small fixes:
Small change build.prop
Changed some dhcpd stuff (no major changes)
Fixed so you can manually search for provider.
added aGPS fix, report if this makes gps worse.
Added back the setup wizard at first boot.
The big changes is that we included a touch based installer which gives you possibility to customize the ROM. [B]Don't request things to be added in this forum.[/B] If you want make a post in desire general and I'll drop by from time to time. If there is a lot of nagging I'll just remove the whole thing.
What you can do:
It automatically finds your hboot and sorts the ROM accordingly.
Choose launcher (stock, nova, apex and trebuchet)
Choose a2sd scripts (stock, amarullz, regular a2sd, dalvik2sd)
Choose if you want softkeys
Choose if you want mms.apk that doesn't convert more then 3 sms to mms.
There is of course a typical installation, that keeps everything as the stock ROM is.

guys, trying trying, brilliant work
yes it works, unstable,but works
Quoting this from the other thread

Come on guys. This thread is getting more and more amateur as the days go on. No one knows which is the current version. Anyone who has working source should upload it to github so we can all work from it instead of this fractured, football team full of 7 year olds effort that's ongoing. I'm currently working on source from scratch but given the access I have to my environment, its taking ages.
If I had the source you guys were working on, we could all progress faster

Need a github page!
Not booting. Wiped everything, flashed rom, than kernel, sends me to bootloader. Stock hboot.
try new link, that problem should be solved, but wait 20 min
I know you guys have a lot lot LOT of work but would it be possible to make a few pics or even a quick video just to see progress and how smooth it is?

The old thread was so full of bad links and really messy so i'll make a new one.
First of all this is not an everyday ROM and thing might not work.

Try and see. OP states this is not an everyday ROM. It's for development, please keep the thread clean.

As mentioned, the last thread was messy. This is a development forum, the whole point of the thanks button is to stop unnecessary posts like this.
It is so frustrating to try and look at progress and have to read through pages of people posting pointless stuff like "It doesn't work on my phone", "I have this setup, will it work?", especially in the old thread. Please try and leave the thread clean so the actual developers can keep a track of where they're at.

this is the 4th thread of this type, is it really necessary to open a new thread just bcoz the old one "is a mess" , this will become a mess too as soon as stupid questions start
Doesnt boot :-( Im stuck on Android screen about 15min
Nope. Definitely not working. Back to Gingerbread for now.
Out of 13 posts so far, 10 are a waste of space and don't need to be here - they are just clutter (11 out of 14 if you count this post of mine)
Sandvold, you really need to either a) get a mod in here b) alert a mod that this thread needs regular cleaning or c) just don't bother, update irc only and don't post anything on XDA until something bootable and regularly usable is available
The trouble with 99% of people on XDA is they never read the first post. So a first post saying "don't ask how to make it boot" almost always goes ignored. Sad, but this place is full of n00bs these days.
Getting "Random offset:0xd4" when installing cm7r2 Build.
Silightly modified the Nikez_Base_build by swapping two APK's posted on IRC. It no longer shows software buttons. It's easy to do it by yourself but I figured it would be easier to just upload it.
http://ge.tt/80BVGCA?c
If you're more of a do it yourself person:
Take the original Nikez_Base_build from the OP and simply overwrite these two APK's before flashing:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z7f8z8byxffilx5
But why do that? It's silly, just download the flashable zip above

Legal Stuffs
Yeah yeah... I know you guys already know this but it's just one of those things you gotta say anyway: Bad things can happen to your phone when you flash custom ROMs and mods. We at SynergyROM are not responsible if anything bad happens to you, your associates, or your device by flashing this ROM or any other modifications posted in this thread or others.
Reviews:
Q&A
Q: How do I install this ROM?
A: Download the ROM from the "Download Links" section above, place the file on your phone's external SD card, and then flash via your recovery. First boot after flash takes a wee bit longer than usual. You need to have an unlocked bootloader if you wish to take full advantage of this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835791
Q: How can I enable mass storage mode?
A:
Code:
To enable mass storage mode:
1) Plug your phone into the computer via USB and MTP will likely open as it usually does
2) Open a command prompt
3) Type: adb shell mountsd
At this point the phone's external sd card will open up in mass storage mode (so you can use it just like a usb drive). Be advised that mass storage and MTP cannot mount the SD card at the same time so MTP will show the SD card with folders empty and something like -1330850028 bytes of storage - don't panic, this is normal since, again, it can only be mounted one place at a time.
Code:
To get back to MTP:
1) While still plugged in via USB
2) Open a command prompt
3) Type: adb shell unmountsd
Q: Why can't I "adb remount"?
A: This is a symptom of the locked down kernel. We've created a workaround for now.
Code:
To set /system as R/W, in a terminal or command prompt type:
adb shell
su
sysrw
Code:
To set /system back to R/O, in a terminal or command prompt type:
adb shell
su
sysro
Q: How do I lower the WiFi transmit power?
A: Do the following
Code:
We've added iwconfig. This lets you set wifi transmit power. Download "wifi tx power" from play store or run the following commands:
adb shell iwconfig wlan0 txpower X
X == txpower(in dBm). 32/25/18/11/4
To make sure it set run :
adb shell iwconfig
and look at TX-Power (3rd row down)
Q: What other tools does this ROM have
A:
Native Wireshark app support
RUN THESE FROM INSIDE ADB SHELL:
Latencytop - For latency monitoring
htop - A system monitor
Powertop - Run with screen off to show number of wakes per second (helpful for finding rogue processes, batt drain, SODs, etc)
We also added the following text editors:
vim
nano
Q: Why doesn't this ROM have ___________ feature?
A: We listen to our users, so please leave us a polite request in the forums and we'll see what we can do about incorporating it
Q: This ROM is awesome! Will you have my baby?
A: No, but we do take a significant amount of time away from our wives/families to work on these ROM tweaks so that you don't have to. Donations help keep us motivated to continue to do so.

I really hate to ask such a Newby question but, does this rom need any special recovery/kernel to run? I know in the OP it says kernel coming soon but I don't want to flash with the wrong recovery and end up screwed. Also thanks for the ROM.

wow I can't wait to try this out. might be my first flash
Giving this a go now..

Nope, just flash in recovery as normal. This is just a /system/ ROM and does not include a boot.img or kexec kernel at this time.

We tested pretty heavily prior to release, so besides the known issues with the locked kernel, there shouldn't be anything major.
We listen to you guys so let us know if you see anything so we can clean it up

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. Downloading now.
Any mirrors? My download keeps failing. It's trying to serve me aj5.zip for some reason.

Does this ROM have that annoying always-there location reticle icon on the status bar? Is there a way to remove it?
Sorry to be repetitive, but can we flash this if we're already on the newest radios and kernel? VRLG1 with July 4th kernel.

[ROM][4.2.2] Unofficial Paranoid Android 3.69 Build - V2.5 TF101

Unofficial Paranoid Android 3.69 Build
Welcome to unofficial Paranoid Android 3.69 build for Asus Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) . This is my first ROM built from source. I am compiling it from Paranoid Android sources and their repositories. I will do my best to make this ROM for our wonderful TF101 as best as possible. However, this is quite similar to normal PA nightlies but with several goodies baked in.
"What's unique about this ROM?"
-To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.*
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.*
Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course.*
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on.*
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.*
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.*
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

The others are working flawlessly
How to report issues
If you have faced any problems other than the listed above, and felt like it's device tree related, be sure to go here:
https://github.com/TheMrcool212/device_asus_tf101/issues
Or if you want to make a public discussion for your problem, just post it here.
How to install?
Make sure your TF101 is rooted and the TWRP Recovery v2.3.2.3 or higher installed.
If you are coming from 4.1.2 and lower, you must wipe all.
If you are coming from older builds of this ROM, no need to factory reset. Just wipe cache, dalvik cache and system before installing the ROM. (NOTE: This will also deletes your mods you've installed before)
If you are coming from another 4.2.2 ROM, a factory reset is very very recommended.
1. Download the ROM and gapps
2. Put the ROM and gapps to your TF101
3. Reboot to the recovery
4. Make a backup (NOTE: Always always make a backup before performing something to your device)
5. Wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset and system

NOTE: I'll post a new changelog when theres a lot of changes, a release that are 'unchangeloged' are updated source only.
The changelogs that comes from the Paranoid Android team are here: https://plus.google.com/107979589566958860409/posts
Note: Mostly changes comes from Paranoid Android source. However if the device tree had a new changes i will post the fix
Q&A
"Do i need to flash the KatKernel?"
No, it's already included in this ROM with the latest version.
"Why the PlayStore appeared as no connection although i've connected to the Wi-Fi?"
Backup all of your data then flash the ROM with a factory reset.
"Does this ROM includes cherry-picks?"
Yes, most likely those cherry-picks are from CM10.1, AOKP or AOSP gerrit website.
Helpful Tips
Animation speed
-You guys know that Android 4.2 ROMs in this tablet are quite slow when opening apps, a window. If you want to make it look faster, go to settings > developer options, scroll down a bit > there is three options:
1. Window animation scale.
2. Transition animation scale.
3. Animator duration scale.
Those are set 1x by default, change it to 0.5x to make it faster or just off the animation.
Hybrid Properties
-The Hybrid Properties is the main feature of Paranoid Android ROMs. Since PA 3+, we can do lots of things with it. We can change the navigation bar color and also status when opening certain apps. It is also can change the layout and dpi's on apps like GMail, Google+ and Youtube to your liking. You can always reset the settings if you've messed up with it.
DPI and Layouts
-DPI is for screen sizes, most of devices have the same DPI, but others don't. Like this TF101, the proper DPI for this device is 160. If its higher or lower by the number it may have screen issues. You can change these DPI's the Hybrid Properties.
Other than DPI, there's 3 layouts. 360p is for phone mode, 720p is for phablet mode, and 1000p is for tablet mode. For example in the Hybrid Properties, you changed a layout for the You Tube app to 1000p. So if you go to the app the screen will look like tablet mode (navigation bar and stasus bar on below). However by changing these layouts it will not effect your DPI's.
HALO
Halo feature was presented by the Paranoid Android team since they released version 3.5. In this feature, you will get a floating bubble that will stay on your screen. When you have a notification, the bubble will appear in an icon of the notification and you can open it directly from there. This will make it easier especially while playing games or watching a video rather than swipe down on the status bar. To activate it, swipe down on the status bar and tap on the blue circle icon.
Tutorial
thanks for keep tf101 alive! Paranoid *-*
WOW! Awesome...i didn't think i will see this brilliant rom on our TF101
Downloading...will update
Thank you!
Roms running pretty well.
Ive used Pimp my rom to help smooth out the lag and switched to Opera mobile for the browser.
Got the settings menu text a little smaller by going into "language and input" and adjusting the font size to "small"...... the dpi is still a bit to big though lol.
Switched to Apex launcher which has helped a little.
Wee problem i found - on the keyboard dock, the numbers are coming up as hyphenated characters rather than numbers - i fixed this with "external keyboard helper" (i have the paid version which has been really handy)
As youve stated, the advanced sub menu force closes as well as the hybrid menu.
If you can sort out the lag and the small niggly bits then im sure the rom will be very popular :good:
Nice to have a tablet UI back!

The font is too big because of the dpi of the settings. I will change it too make it normal in the next build.

I've never saw Paranoid Android Halo (3.50) for 10 inch tablets. Only on phones and nexus 7. I think i'm sure that thats the cause of the Hybrid Properties crash. I'll wait for someone release the stable 3.50 version for 10 inch tablets like nexus 10 and TF300.
REMEMBER: The Halo version of Paranoid Android (3.50) is still in alpha build.

Good luck. You could ask moles or Aaron about it. They are nice peeps.
I noticed in this ROM there is messaging and people app. The first build i released also had the phone UI. I changed the dpi to make it look normal. So im pretty sure that this build are only meant for phones, not for tablets.
Paranoid Android Team had just released alpha 4 build for HALO version. I will update it to this device soon.
Great news! Thank you TheMrcool212 !!!!!!!
if i go to settings andf choose "advanced" get message "unfortunately, settings has stopped.
the same with "hybrid properties"
The pie is what making the launcher so laggy (even when the nav bar is hidden)
There is any way to disable the pie settings?

New features like Blacklist, expandable volume panel, and SlimCenter (not fully functional to inform of updates yet).
Basic BLN support in the kernel. Enable/disable it in Settings > Sound & notification > Notification > Notification light
Should be a noticeable improvement in the occasional lag, but there seems to be a general bug related to this that affects many devices. With our device, it's more noticeable due to lower resources in general than newer devices have.
Default DPI is now set to the native device default of 240, but you can change this to several preset values in Settings > Display > LCD density.

Cursory RRO Theme suport. Slim is currently not implementing CM's theme engine. RRO is better in many ways... If you don't know what RRO Themes are or how to use them, you need an app and theme apks. Special thanks to @RobbieL811 for temporarily hosting some of these builds! If you see him around, be sure to thank him!
GApps:
Use TK PIco GApps from AndroidFileHost | BasketBuild
(Main TK GApps thread on XDA)
TWRP Recovery:
TWRP 2.8.7.0 with F2FS support in IMG, TAR and ZIP formats. Thanks to @javelinanddart for compiling these.
Instructions:
Reboot to recovery.
Make a nandroid backup.
Boot into recovery. You need a newer version for lollipop. Tested with TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery linked above.
Make a nandroid backup.
Make sure you're on one of these radios or newer for now: I727:UCMC1|I727R:UXUMA7
FULL WIPE/Format: /system, /data, /cache and /dalvik.
Flash the ROM.
Flash GApps(use Slim Mini or Zero GApps).
If you want ROOT, you have to unlock Developer Options by going to Settings > About phone and clicking on the Build number field 7 times. Then you can enable Root in Settings > Developer Options > Root access.
Reboot when finished
Boot animation is delayed 10-20 seconds, and takes about 10 minutes to boot up on a clean flash, so be patient and give it time.
Enjoy!
Note: You may not see all the ringtones, notification sounds, etc. until the phone goes to sleep, or the Media Scanner finds them. Also, check the Settings > Sound & notification > Interruptions menu to make sure these aren't disabled, as in "No interruptions". This disables the sounds.
Issues? Post a logcat on Pastebin, link to it here, and provide as many details as possible, such as ROM version, GApps used, radio/modem, cell provider, or anything relevant to the problem or how to duplicate the issue.
Enjoy!
Screen shots and stuff:
NOTE: RRO is no longer part of the Slim sources. Basic layer support is included (v1). I am not sure where this is going with Slim but feel we need a theme engine of some kind. I've left these images here for fun. If I find I can pick the RRO commits back into my builds I will try, but if we go weekly, it will have to come from the bosses...
Some screen shots using RRO Layer Theme Synergy_v4 by Brian Gill are attached.
Note you need the Bitsyko RRO Themes app, which you can get by signing up for beta testing, and then you can use Google to find other themes. Full instructions are in the link.
Note there is some Teal mixed in with the Blue, but you get the idea...

Yes sir, it's what I primarily use. It still works well, even though it's discontinued.
My computer likes to connect to the phone's USB storage with PhilZ, whereas with TWRP it has trouble sometimes.
Both should work (for now)... [emoji14]

New build in OP with WORKING AUDIO ! Huge thanks to @gimmeitorilltell for collaborating on this! GPS locks fast... The source needs to be sorted out and pushed to Slim still, so if you're looking to build, you'll have to wait a bit. Still a WIP...
I need some people to test phone calls and SMS/MMS functionality since my Skyrocket has no SIM card. Share a link to your logcat on Pastebin if possible please.

OK, thanks so MMS pics aren't working? Did you set your default data type and APN correctly? If you can try other ones, it might be useful.
You can share your log using pastebin.com and providing a link here to it. If you can't post links, just spell out the url with words or PM me (if you can).
New build is up in the OP. Not a lot changed, except some source moved around on Slim since msm8660 got it's own CAF branches.
Beware if you try the torch tile, you will have to reboot to use the camera. This is an issue with the Nexus phones too and I hope to see it fixed soon.

Use the latest Slim normal GApps v467 or Slim mini GApps v467. The full GApps package is very large and might not fit into the system. I had issues with apps disappearing like Play Store and Play Services issues. You don't want that deal...
Just put this on my skyrocket. Wow! Its like a new phone . So fast and smooth. I had to order a new battery though. It will be interesting to see what the battery life is really like as the one I have dies pretty quickly considering it the original. Wish I could access all 16gb of the internal memory for apps though.
