[Q] Best place to buy jigs? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Okay, I've done it. I've got my phone so messed up that I need a jig.
I'm just weary of all the eBay posts and Chinese websites.
If you've bought one, I want to hear from you.
Where did you buy it from?
How much did you pay?
What should I look out for?
Thanks in advanced,
- Nate

LOL, not a big deal. I bought mine of eBay for $5 (or so). ALWAYS comes in handy....
It's only a male microUSB dongle with a couple of resistors soldered up to it
and that's all. Nothing to really watch-out for. I buy loads of stuff online (eBay)
i can always trust my money with PayPal:good::laugh:
Good Luck....

Making your own isn't too hard, I've made my own since I only needed it once.

For those who don't have any solderings skills and are lazzy (<like me). Spend a couple of bucks on a handy tool you can count on.

Hong Kong eBay sellers for batteries

I was looking to purchase the 2 batteries plus charger for around 10 bux or so on ebay, but there are a variety of sellers, If you made this purchase who was your seller and what was the experience in terms of both shipping time and quality of the batteries? there is one seller on there that shows pictures of the batteries that says its "made in japan/finished in china", wonder if thats a better battery? Thanks!

I have two from spider foot they don't last as long as the oem. Good for backup though.
I just got my order from spiderfoot yesterday. It was 11.99 for two batts and charger plus usb cord and car charger. I ordered on the 28th of Dec so that's what, about 13 days? Not too bad for snail mail I suppose. I got one charged up before work yesterday and it lasted 6+ hours with fairly heavy use, I have a boring job at times. The other one I charged last night has 51% left and has been running my phone since around midnite, moderate use(I do sleep!). Bottom line for me is I now have three batteries and a way to charge them outside the phone so having three charged overnite isn't a hassle. What do you want for 11.99 anyway? Lastly, the charger gets them to 100% unlike the screwy samsung charging system or code...finally full batteries again! Like I said before, what do you want for 11.99?

Kinda reminds me of a $20 dollar hooker. You got the clap. You get what you pay for. Why do you think it was so cheap?
You save money by buying a cheapass battery from someone in china. You know how much they cut corners to maximize profit? Don't cry when a lithium ion battery explodes or catches fire in your pocket. Even the chinese living in america know better than to buy stuff made in china. They know it's crap. I work with them, I see it all the time.

Talk about uninformed. You think they go through drastically different quality control? And go ahead and find me the articles from exploding batteries since you know millions of them are made in China each year. . . . .
Maybe you should lay off hookers no matter how much they cost . . . .

Very funny response. I'm tempted to scoop a bobo battery and charger too off Ebay. I find myself charging my phone 2x a day. I think I'll stay with domestic sellers though. Makes business a lil easier for a few different reasons.

Lol surprisingly I don't. That and I think it would be much easier to solve any issue that may arise dealing with someone in the States over someone halfway across the world. There are certain expectations that are implied.
Took 9 days for my spiderfoot order to arrive to Atlanta.

Last time I think I found someone who imported them from China and sold them on ebay for a couple of extra dollars, so it was basically the same. I've done this for numerous phones (just neurotic if not a bad battery) and I have never had a problem. I WILL say that the generics don't always seem to last as long (maybe not on first charge but they may die quicker) than the OEM one I got, but I also got an OEM off Ebay that was DOA so go figure.
As for blowing up in your pocket....I'd be more afraid of dying quickly etc. I doubt it will blow up, link please
went ahead and purchased from spider-foot, so far no explosion lol, can't complain for 11 bux...thanks

[Q] Is it safe to buy this battery?

Im thinking of buying this battery, it says oem but is it safe?
Anyone can help
h**p://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-1500mAh-Li-ion-BATTERY-Samsung-i9000-Galaxy-S-/150478327638?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2309350f56#ht_943wt_905
well it will be safe, wont be as good as an original samsung battery,, but it will do the job if your on the go.
They are safe. I have purchased a couple & have had no problems with charging in the phone & with a charger, but you won't get the same amount of power out of them as you would with a genuine Samsung battery. OEM seems to cover a multitude of sins, especially from China. I think they are more likely to be about 1100mAh. But for the price they are ok.
thanks for your answers,
edit : so they wont explode then, good to know
no they wont explode... lol
if they did then the US army are wasting millions
they should just buy a load of these in bulk lol
Why not just buy from Amazon or one of the online Tech shops? Price is not much different and quality is assured. If things go wrong you have easy ways to deal with it.
Sorry for my noobness im not very familiar with the amazon system, does it allow paypall payment?
Also can you post a link to the battery you are refering
thanks
you can also but batteries direct from samsung for 29-39 depending on site and when.. i have a few.. pricy but you are guaranteed to get geniune batteries and they always have worked better for me than any ebay knock offs (even the ones that look genuine but i am sure are not)

Just go to www.Amazon.com or www.Amazon.co.uk if you are UK based or whichever your local Amazon is then type in Galaxy S battery as a search.

Got micro HDMI ???

I finally found a HDMI cable locally.
That way if it did not work, I could return it.
I got it at WAL-MART. I looked at my local WAL-MART they do not carry this item. I found it at a WAL-MART when I was out of town this weekend, When I was walking around the electronics area.
I saw all the people with mix results so I held off for a quality cable from a company I can trust and been making cables for a long time.
I got the:
BELKIN - HIGH SPEED HDMI CABLE WITH HDMI MICRO CONNECTOR.
6FT. OR 1.8M
$30.00
I just tested it out for 5 minutes last night. It worked great. I set the HDMI setting to automatic. As soon as I plug cable in it worked.
I was saying, Awesome!!!
Hopefully this helps people who need the cable and are scared of what cheap cables can do to expensive electronics.
Running stock Gingerbread Rom.

That's what I'm sayin'! They all work the same. I'm not gonna spend 10x the price on something that won't work any better. To me, 1080p, is 1080p.
i can guarantee the $3 ones wont last..probably from ebay..lol but thats where i got mine from, cost me bout 10 bucks about two months ago and still works, i use it all the time especially weekends, make sure to check buyers feedback and also u can notice a crappy cable by looking at it...just be carefull when pickin but it's best to get one from a local store or t-mobile website
I had some money coming my way that I was not counting on so I say what the heck!!!
I saw all the complaints if all those cheap cables. I did not want to be one of those people.
I was just posting a options some people don't mind spending more on a quality product.

I've used my $3 cable almost everyday since receiving it 2 weeks ago and I've had no problems at all.
The cable actually looks like good quality....I got it from Hand Held Items. I'm usually the first to say when something looks cheap, but this $3 cable looks the exact opposite. I'm still shocked that stores can make money selling a HDMI phone cable for $30. What a ripoff....smdh
But I'm not knocking anybody who purchased that $30 cable, by all means if you got the money and want to do it .... perfect!

I understand...Im not trying to sell anyone anything, I just wanted anyone that may be in the market for a cheap HDMI cable to know where I got mine from. I'll admit, some of the reviews aren't so great, but there are more 5 ratings than 1 ratings. I guess I have one of the 'Good' cables.
Nonetheless, good luck with any decision you guys make.
I got HDMI cable off ebay for me and my dad for $1 each lol, still working strong, but I cant say these $3 ones for our phones will be the same, I will be picking one up for mine soon.
I return mine. I am trying cheaper cables now that I know my phones HDMI port works. The Belkin one was a perfect fit.

Since I can't post links: Visit NewEgg then search the item: RCE-6-MHEF
6+ft mini-hdmi to hdmi male for less than $7.
Food for thought... seems none of you have heard of the future of internet shipping -- NewEgg... quality cable if you ask me, have 3+ of the normal hdmi and they sell adapters if you already have a hdmi cord, because how many times do you hook up your phone to a tv anyways?
Good link. I have to check that out.

[Q] Logic board piece type

I have a couple of old logic boards that need a some little bits replaced. I'm confident I can do it, but I'm running into a bit of a wall as far as one of the pieces. This place is far more virtual than physical, but even so, I'm hoping.
On the board, on the edges, the little white switches that correspond with the volume and power buttons. Those are what I need. Ebay seems to be telling me that there are different types or models or something of this switch. And the only phone that they claim compatibility with is the new S4. Honestly, it *looks* like a generic piece, but before I order some from China and wait two weeks to find out I have the wrong thing, I'm hoping to find out what the deal is with this darned switch!
I plan to call some repair places tomorrow, it's just too late right now, and what can I say, I love you guys.
Thanks much anybody!
If they look the same then they are the same, don't heat them up too much they melt. If the part you found is Samsung its most likely the same as other Samsung phones. Post a link to the part found and the SK or I'll just open mine if I find it. Might be the same as the S2.

You can see them in the tear down over in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466906
The little white ones (power/volume) are what I need. Ebay has them, but a bunch have 3-4 letters that seem to somehow differentiate them, even though they all look exactly alike. (FNRG, TIM, NCYG)
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...=power+key+switch+on+off+replace&_sacat=43304
You know.. Looking harder. I think that stupid little letter thing is just so the item description isn't the exact same every time between all these different sellers. >:c

Yeah they are the same as the s2 I actually tried two days ago to salvage the buttons from a s2 but failed but they are the same the only one that should be different would be the camera button if it has two stage click
Just look for s2, the s3 looks completely different, my local parts vendor doesn't have the buttons so I don't try to repair them. Good luck the two pins on the back are the contacts the middle one is just support

Noticed that difference. Found a lovely deal 4 day shipping in the US (hard as hell to find stuff NOT from China), $5 for a lot of 4. ^..^ I'm a happy camper.
And yeah, I tried salvaging from another board. It came out fine, but doesn't seem to want to attach, plus I need three of them, so may as well go new!

I figure a buck for a piece, especially assuming it fixes the issue, isn't such a bad deal. ^..^ I admire the people who do this regularly and make some $40+ with costs being all of $5 including parts and shipping. If this works out for me, I might start offering the repair service myself. XD

Will do! I'm replacing a micro usb port too. far easier than the buttons, as the buttons only have those little pinprick through holes. I can't imagine I'd charge more than 30/40 + shipping. It's about standard pricing. I don't know if you've soldered on logic boards before or not, but there's a great tutorial(ish) series on youtube by user iRepairFast. Quite thorough.

Replacement USB-C to 3.5mm adapter?

I don't even know why Motorola trusted me with this tiny ass adapter But I lost the darn thing in a day. Does anyone know where to find a replacement that isn't from China and won't take a month to get here? I tried contacting Motorola about it but all they said was contact Verizon, which is useless considering they don't sell it. Any advice?
Not an answer, but similar question...does anyone know if a usb c to 3.5 mm male cord exists?
My headphones have a removeable cord 3.5mm male on both ends...itd be nice to have a cable as opposed to an adapter.

Yeah they're pretty cheap, but they all come from China.
I am thinking that will be the only option as the original is from China...and I briefly looked into it when I first bought the phone, I was then unlucky enough to receive a defective device and returned it for a replacement...well the adapter was in the bag not the box so I got a spare for the inconvenience of returning to the store.
Bump. Has anyone found a seller in the states? The only places that seem to sell them are from China.
Honestly, if you're a regular listener to music it might be time to go BT.
I've been using BT almost exclusively for a long time and and it's really nice.
First, no tangling of cords. No having to un-knot the mess when you take 'em out of your pocket or bag... no worry about snagging them on something when I'm sitting on the bus communicating to work.
Second, additional controls. Most BT headsets have controls for volume as well as track control so you can adjust without having to open the music app on your phone if you playing a game, checking email, or reading a book. Or...
Third, you don't need to be right next to your phone. You could have your phone tucked away in a purse or bag or briefcase or backpack and still listen to music. Or you could have it sitting on the charge on the counter while you're moving around the house... as long as you're not too far away of course.
Not, I'm not a serious audiophile, so I admit that there may be some degradation of sound quality going via BT. It's no problem for me, but I can understand that it might be so for some people. But unless your the type that really needs super good sound quality... or you just don't have the extra cash handy, BT is the way to go in my humble opinion.

I too only found ones from China, and I finally found a listing in the US for the exact same product in the chinese listings, the white one, and I bought 3 of them. Huge mistake, don't go for them. They don't support stereo headphones :silly:
Huge waste of money. I too decided to go bluetooth as the poster above me, I use a pair of Beats Studio 2.0 (I know you guys hate beats, blah blah blah) and they work great. I did manage to RMA my phone though, as I was having some issues with the power button, and they just sent me a completely new Moto Z Force Droid in box, so I have a spare turbo charger and a new headset adapter

Just came across two eBay listings for what appear to be OEM replacement adapters (SKN6474A), thought I'd share (after I bought two for myself, natch). Kinda weird: same seller, but the first link is for $7.99 Buy-It-Now, the 2nd is for $9.99 but accepting offers. Haven't received them yet so can't say for sure they're the real deal, but the seller has 100% with 150 ratings. Act quick!
