Now that I have s-off, I'm wondering what rom is everyone using? I'm mainly looking for speed, but I do like the sense 3.0 lockscreen.
Any thoughts?
LeeDROiD Sensational V1.0 - 22nd July | APM | CRT | OverScroll | FAST & STABLE
That is my first choice.
Any reason why that would be your first choice?
Close to stock, but rooted and tweaked for performance.
Plus, the developer inspires confidence in me, somehow...
geeez s-off is made public today..

But of course!
However, why not have some fun in the meantime, once the original image is backup-ed with clockworkmod?
Theoretically - it should do no harm, that cannot be undone.
Have fun, if flashing constantly with new ROMs is fun for you!
Me personally - I cant wait for an plain android rom AOSP rom that has wifi calling - this is my dream

+1. As long as BT A2DP works.
I want CM7 something or other. I'd love to see a AOSP on this thing. Its such a beast of a phone. All the extra goodies, overclocking, and other stuff that's packed in. Hopefully we get a CM7 on it.
The rom (leedroid) I just flashed on my T-Mobile USA doesn't support RX diversity for the GSM network. So that means your reception will be poorer especially when traveling (mostly all GSM for us T-Mobile users) I tried to deathgrip it and unlike on the stock T-Mobile USA rom, my bars just stayed at 1 instead of switching to the antenna at the top of the phone and bringing me back to 2-3 bars. No RX diversity on 4G from what I can tell. Wait for something that is specifically for T-Mobile USA Sensation 4G users so we can have WiFi calling and RX diversity.
Is there any ROM out here that supports Wifi-Calling yet?
i noticed none of the devs here are from the US.. when will we get a rom optimized for tmous sensation 4g?
I am sure we will see some sick roms in the next few days.
I currently have a sgs2, ordered a sensation with att 3g bands today. I'm so excited that I can get s-off when I receive my sensation and flash different roms

LeeDroid's ROM seems sick Its tempting to try it out but I see some posting that there is a bit of lag . Oh well, let's give our devs some time to cook up some great roms
Eugene373 should be cooking up something soon.. Can't wait.
sorry for the stupid question but when trying to flash a recovery via rom manager i cannot locate my phone model through the phone list. i assume there is something i missed or i have to wait for the sensation to be added to the list ??
Sorry for the noob question ive been reading around and havent gotten a clear answer, any help is appreciated and thanked
I am waiting for CM7 or MIUI (preferably).
Is CM7 rom the only rom that offer nightly built? Why aren't all rom doing this?

I flashed Leedroid first but couldn't stand the lag, so I jumped over to Android Revolution and...we'll see how it goes :S

I may be reading your post wrong but I think your very confused on what Diversity is. It is nothing built into your handset. ALL PHONES WHETHER GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE, WiMAX OR WHATEVER SUPPORT DIVERSITY RX. In fact, it's not even a function of your phone. Diversity RX has NOTHING to do with your handset whatsoever!!! You do NOT have 2 antenna's. Diversity is at the cell site. Diversity is having 2 receive antenna's on a tower that are a part of a single sector (there are typically 3 sectors per tower, but can be more depending on the RF design). Anyways, how to put diversity in easy terms. So when your phone is registered on a sector, that sector will have 2 different receive paths originating from 2 different antenna's. What this does is allows the cell site to determine which path has the best (not to be mistaken with strongest, best means best quality) receive path for your phone and then utilizes that path. It's for quality.
Again, you DO NOT have separate antenna's in our cell. Whatever test you trying, is a fluke. Even if you had those, which you don't, that information would be written into the radio image, NOT the OS.
I'm so overwhelmed by the amount of radios I can flash and does anyone with T-Mobile in California have a suggestion for what they use? Right now my data speeds are pretty bad
Also, what is the difference between an RIL and a radio? I'm so confused!

My understading of the RIL is pretty much telling the OS how to use the radio that is installed. Hence the reason that they need to match. I was using radio 9007.19 with the .162 ril and had great speeds here in Utah(sorry i know your looking for someone in cali). But I have just last week modded the three sensations that I work on all to the stock 1.45.405 ruu so that I got all the extras that came with that firmware and I'm not running the newest radio of 9035 with its matching ril and have much better speeds and great battery life. Before I did this ruu installed about a month ago I tried this newer radio and had horrible results, slow speeds and wow talked about a battery sucker. But what every all came in that ruu(rpm.img maybe) really helped that radio in my eyes. Hope this helped a bit.
Are you on the stock rom? I've been using custom roms and my data has been much slower. I was thinking about going to the stock rom but I'm not sure if it's the custom roms that are slowing down my speeds or just the T-Mobile service in my area. I'm using the 173 RIL with the matching latest radio. I get under 1 mbps a lot of the time using the speedtest.net app.

Hence why what works for you, might not work for others and vice versa. So just download a couple of radio's and their RIL, and try each one (using the RIL that is compatible with the radio of course) and try out a few and see which one nets you better results.

Yeah, I've tried several RIL/Radio combinations with no luck. Once in a while, they will go to like 2Mbps, but standing in the same spot, I may get like 500kbps right after.

There got to be a latest radio for T-Mobile USA!
I will watch this thread closely because I am too looking to update the radio on my phone the difference is that I live on Florida.
I remember on my Nexus One updating the Radio was easier just flashing the Corean radio and Voila! Speeds close to 4G always.
While I was out, I did several speed test in the Orange County area. I got 7.272Mbps download and 1.919Mbps upload, and for the second run, I got 5.983Mbps download and 2.321Mbps upload. When I was indoors, I got 1.201Mbps download and 1.268kbps upload. I'm currently using Android Revolution HD 3.6.0 with RIL 173 and Radio 10.15.9305.02.2. My CID is T-MOB010. Hope that helps someone.

Yeah, I'm in So-Cal around the Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley/Garden Grove area. I haven't done any more speed tests since though. I'm on the 200mb data plan and the cycle just started like two days ago so I gotta ration.
thank you WTFD4V1D. im very close to garden groove so ill give this radio a try.

I also tried going back to the 169 RIL and the corresponding radio along with adjusting to these values in my build.prop file:
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=10
ro.ril.hsupa.category=6
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
There are two of these in the build.prop file and I changed both. Still using Android Revolution HD 3.6.0. I'm not sure if those speeds were because I was near a cell tower or something though since I did both of these in the same spot.
I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section or for anything else.
Hey guys. i have been messing around with this AT&T LG thrill 4G for some time now waiting for a blasted update. aren't we all?
I have also been trying to find the best base band for my area, i find the answer is unclear from searching around. Is there a special sequence flashing the base bands to achieve the best results?
As of now im running the Acura team ROM fine. i previously was running the KING ROM with no issues until i tried a different base band and loss data. anyhow i went back to the BB that worked with king before and could never get data higher then 500 kbps.??
Also thanks in advance to everyone that uses there time to make this happen for us all!

Well i think i have finally made my peace for now, i seems hit and miss.
Its kinda weird to be honest. i can flash a new rom one min and get 500kbps data, and flash a different one and back and get 3G speeds. I have settled with the samba rom with v18a base band. all is well for now.
I've read through the threads on all the forums, and nothing definitive yet. Also things are changing so fast over the last few days, I figured this needed asking.
I'm hearing people say that some of the zip cooked ROMs can be installed on the 727R but only if you have the leak installed first with ODIN.
When I go through the leaked ROM thread, it says it doesn't work on Roger's Skyrockets.
So is there any way to take a stock, or non-stock GB ROM and get either the leaked ROM or a cooked ROM onto a 727R?
Thanks
This works on Rogers. I flashed this from stock rooted Rogers GB.

but to be honest my battery has been draining alot with this leak. also seems alot unstable atm. i know go ahead bash me but ive tried every rom to see if it would settle or be stable. but none so far and im just wondering if this leak is a problem for canadians or for "rogers" especially.
i didn't see anything about rogers incompatibility in this thread?

+1 today it's been unstable for me a lot and the battery leak is still happening
I think there may be slight differences between the Skyrocket & Rogers version, that only Samsung know about.
One only has to look at the Samsung Focus 1.3 & 1.4 revisions. Both are identical except for a minor difference, but it caused major headaches for MS when pushing updates. It wouldn't surprise me if Samsung does the same on the Android side.
So with this leak your running an unfinished ROM, & one that may not be intended for your revision of hardware
i think that could very well be true. because of this battery drain 2-3% every less than half hour is like does this rom really feel it should be like this. also reboot issues, rom hanging in here & there, its not about the "work-around" but actual work seems very unstable. their devs are even soo stupid that when i ripped dialer.apk they spelled dailer in 1 of the imgs rather then dialer..it made me laugh soo hard..

I've tried this version, Mostly worked ok but my caller ID stopped working?
I'm a newb so I can't post over there to find out if anyone else saw the same issue... maybe I did something wrong but everything else seemed to be great?
Thank you everyone for responding. Gonna wait a few days and see how this plays out for Rogers uses. Hope other Rogers users post results here.
If you are on Rogers, flash the thing from the second post then flash any of the other ICS ROMs.
GB-->ICS works
I used ICSMOD5 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566820
What I did:SGH-i727R
My ROM was running Malice from T989, with Streamline Kernel.
1)Backup!
2)Factory Reset
3)Advanced - Wipe Dalvik
4)Manual reset: - Mounts and storage, Format system, data & cache
5)Flash UCLA4 ICS radio
6)Flash the ICSMOD5_wipe version
7)Boot
8)Wait...wait even more...don't panic...
9)Enjoy
Everything including data and gps, and time issues were okay.
On the apex launcher, the messenger icon is bonked, just remove the shortcut and put the messaging shortcut again.
Wifi Tether: Starts up via toggle mod, can set password and stuff, computer connects to it but no data goes thru.
Will report back on battery use and possible issues.
So far so good.

Flash this modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24140728&postcount=5
Then type *#2263# into the Phone and Select "[4] LTE Band Preference" then "[7] LTE ALL". Once you get an LTE signal, then type *#2263# again and this time Choose "[1] Automatic" and it should work.
I've had to do this a few times, but I have gotten stable LTE on all the ICS builds so far.

I've been running Smooth Ice for almost 2 weeks with no issues. The first ROM I used to upgrade from GB was the one just called 'Working Rogers ICS ROM', or something like that. I used Superlite and then went to Smooth Ice and have no complaints.
well not to put my team's rom up. but if you use our rom after we're gonna update today you are not gonna wanna leave it =).. you think you had enough with other roms. haha you have seen nothing yet.
Hey fellow Canucks, I've tried at least five different modems for this badboy and haven't loved one yet. I had the most signal bars in general with UCLAC4 but found it was dropping data sometimes. Currently running UXKJ7 with AOKP R4ins Oct5, experiencing similar results. Anyone living in the GTA (Ontario) getting better results than this? Mind sharing your modem choice and maybe what build you are running? I feel like i am using extra juice that could be saved if the modem wasn't constantly struggling to achieve a connection. Any help is appreciated. HTG
Not in the GTA but on Rogers in KW. I did a comparison of UCLF6, UCLF5, UCLE2, and RUXLF3 and didn't find any statistically significant difference in ping, download or upload speed.
Mind you this was before LTE was brought to this area so I will have to retest, but my conclusion was to just go with the modem packaged in the official Rogers ICS release for the Skyrocket (RUXLF3).

Im mostly in Mississauga-Brampton-Vaughan area and use RUXLF3 from Rogers ICS, now on Orthus 4 AOKP JB with the same radio and very happy.
Well, happy to the point that there is nothing else possible to do in order of getting better reception.
No big differences between other radios really. One thing I can confirm, same as you said UCLAC4 was the best but too good to be true (back in the day whe I tested all available radios).
