I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section or for anything else.
Hey guys. i have been messing around with this AT&T LG thrill 4G for some time now waiting for a blasted update. aren't we all?
I have also been trying to find the best base band for my area, i find the answer is unclear from searching around. Is there a special sequence flashing the base bands to achieve the best results?
As of now im running the Acura team ROM fine. i previously was running the KING ROM with no issues until i tried a different base band and loss data. anyhow i went back to the BB that worked with king before and could never get data higher then 500 kbps.??
Also thanks in advance to everyone that uses there time to make this happen for us all!

Well i think i have finally made my peace for now, i seems hit and miss.
Its kinda weird to be honest. i can flash a new rom one min and get 500kbps data, and flash a different one and back and get 3G speeds. I have settled with the samba rom with v18a base band. all is well for now.

Sorry to make a new thread for this, but I can't seem to see the same problem anywhere else. I recently used the methods and files on g2hacks.com to root and upgrade my Android to Gingerbread.
Everything seems ok, I got my Swype reloaded (thanks me for remembering to backup the Froyo! lol), and now I've hit a snag.
I'm with t-mobile in a very non-t-mobile-friendly part of the country, I've got all the unlimited nationwide stuff, so I generally connect to the local Unicel signal as opposed to the T-Mobile one (even though I pay unlimited web usage, the t-mobile signal around here doesn't seem too happy to accomodate).
But since I updated to Gingerbread, I'm getting an error message when trying to search for and subsequently selecting a network. "Error while searching for networks." Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas? Thanks so much in advance.
Honestly even though Gingervillian is an awesome rom! and the creature did a great job. I'm still using cyanogenMod most stable version it seems a little more stable and runs really smooth. I would suggest posting in the G2 area of the forums or in the GingerVillian thread.
First post, but been reading since my Xperia X10 days. So first of all hi everyone, and thanks for all the hard work out there. I've seen several threads on this already regarding the upload cap. It's extremely annoying, and seeing how there's also a new tweak out there for better speeds, I wonder why google doesn't have it spec'd like that to begin with. I also wonder does anyone know why I have a capped radio baseband? Some people said it went away with 2.3.4, but I got the UCKD1 with my OTA (Telus Nexus S). Do i need root to change baseband? I assume so right...I don't really want to loose all my stuff rooting, and from what I understand that's what happens...Is it carrier specific whether we get the capped basebands? Any hopes in Ice Cream Sandwhich it will be an uncapped baseband?
Thanks!
its carrier specific. what is your upload speed anyways? i top out about 1820kbps.
radio
thanks. I already read through that guide. It does provide all the files/tweaks. Why are carriers placing those caps on devices? Can I change basebands without rooting? My upload sits around .4Kbps and download is around 3Mbps
Been With Sprint the last 8 years, got a chance to bail ETF free and took it! So far very pleased, much better call quality and data speeds, plus internet and phone calls can be done simultanouesly yay! lol
Question, I am very familiar with the phone as I had the same phone in the sprint version for several months (Epic 4g Touch)
question, I am super busy and I'm sure there are many fixes and tweaks that are unique to At&T and this phone that I just don't have the time to research right now, wondering if someone could please help a brother out. Got my Skyrocket last night, so far I'm rooted with CWM and running SkyICS.
Wondering is what tweaks should be done right away? Like perhaps data throttling (not even sure what the deal with this is, but have seen it come up) are people running different radio's/modem's than stock and getting better results? If so which ones? Anything I should know about roaming or custom PRL's that I should be running on this phone? Any other little tips/tricks for At&T? I have never been with att before yesterday. Thanks so much!!!

I made the same exact switch. There isn't nearly the development on this as there was for the epic. There is no roaming or prl on gsm....at least not like we could tweak on sprint. I don't think any of the roms or kernels are all that much different....find what you like and stick with it.

You don't have the time to research how to tweak your Skyrocket, but you had time to write this uber long post?
Good choice on the Skyrocket. I just got a white one with an early upgrade, and I'm loving it. I strongly recommend SkyIceCream ROM. It's pretty sweet and fast.
Enjoy you S/R

haha, ofcourse I have time to do some research, I'm just hoping someone can help point to me to common problems or which threads I should read to get the most bang for my time, also which things are unique to ATT that I would be unfamiliar with coming from sprint and not knowing much about GSM and how it's different from CDMA .
Thanks for the input guys, I'm happy to have made the switch!
The rom I'm on SKyICS 7.4 with the included kernel is running just fine. I do loose signal in my parking garage where I used to be able to roam when I was on Sprint. Anyway to force roaming etc on GSM? Thanks

There is ONE common problem that all SR's have, but it's not noticeable unless your told, so I'm going to be nice and not tell you, and don't worry, it won't hurt the operation of your SR.
Run the LA3 modem that was posted a few days ago, it's MUCH MUCH MUCH better then the KJ3 modem, holds signal much better.

I just picked up a white Skyrocket with an early upgrade. If you're referring to the problem I think you are, mine doesn't have it. I think only certain batches were affected. Either that, or I got very lucky.

I've read through the threads on all the forums, and nothing definitive yet. Also things are changing so fast over the last few days, I figured this needed asking.
I'm hearing people say that some of the zip cooked ROMs can be installed on the 727R but only if you have the leak installed first with ODIN.
When I go through the leaked ROM thread, it says it doesn't work on Roger's Skyrockets.
So is there any way to take a stock, or non-stock GB ROM and get either the leaked ROM or a cooked ROM onto a 727R?
Thanks
This works on Rogers. I flashed this from stock rooted Rogers GB.

Some minor bugs but there are solutions for them all so far.

but to be honest my battery has been draining alot with this leak. also seems alot unstable atm. i know go ahead bash me but ive tried every rom to see if it would settle or be stable. but none so far and im just wondering if this leak is a problem for canadians or for "rogers" especially.
i didn't see anything about rogers incompatibility in this thread?

+1 today it's been unstable for me a lot and the battery leak is still happening
I think there may be slight differences between the Skyrocket & Rogers version, that only Samsung know about.
One only has to look at the Samsung Focus 1.3 & 1.4 revisions. Both are identical except for a minor difference, but it caused major headaches for MS when pushing updates. It wouldn't surprise me if Samsung does the same on the Android side.
So with this leak your running an unfinished ROM, & one that may not be intended for your revision of hardware
i think that could very well be true. because of this battery drain 2-3% every less than half hour is like does this rom really feel it should be like this. also reboot issues, rom hanging in here & there, its not about the "work-around" but actual work seems very unstable. their devs are even soo stupid that when i ripped dialer.apk they spelled dailer in 1 of the imgs rather then dialer..it made me laugh soo hard..

I've tried this version, Mostly worked ok but my caller ID stopped working?
I'm a newb so I can't post over there to find out if anyone else saw the same issue... maybe I did something wrong but everything else seemed to be great?
Thank you everyone for responding. Gonna wait a few days and see how this plays out for Rogers uses. Hope other Rogers users post results here.
If you are on Rogers, flash the thing from the second post then flash any of the other ICS ROMs.
GB-->ICS works
I used ICSMOD5 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566820
What I did:SGH-i727R
My ROM was running Malice from T989, with Streamline Kernel.
1)Backup!
2)Factory Reset
3)Advanced - Wipe Dalvik
4)Manual reset: - Mounts and storage, Format system, data & cache
5)Flash UCLA4 ICS radio
6)Flash the ICSMOD5_wipe version
7)Boot
8)Wait...wait even more...don't panic...
9)Enjoy
Everything including data and gps, and time issues were okay.
On the apex launcher, the messenger icon is bonked, just remove the shortcut and put the messaging shortcut again.
Wifi Tether: Starts up via toggle mod, can set password and stuff, computer connects to it but no data goes thru.
Will report back on battery use and possible issues.
So far so good.

Flash this modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24140728&postcount=5
Then type *#2263# into the Phone and Select "[4] LTE Band Preference" then "[7] LTE ALL". Once you get an LTE signal, then type *#2263# again and this time Choose "[1] Automatic" and it should work.
I've had to do this a few times, but I have gotten stable LTE on all the ICS builds so far.
i keep getting unknown id on my calls instead of it showing the number

confirm ICS-SUPERLITE 5.1 on Rogers Galaxy S2 I727
I like to endorse the custom ROM ICS-SUPERLITE 5.1 on Rogers Galaxy S2 I727. it is a SUPER ROM, improves the battery life, smooth, uncluttered and simple to install. mhx did a fabulous job.

+ 1, actually this has become my daily driver. There are some quirks as in callerid coming in from a telus cell but other than that everything else is solid. Also got lte to kind of work but it's just been started to get setup in my area lol.

I've been running Smooth Ice for almost 2 weeks with no issues. The first ROM I used to upgrade from GB was the one just called 'Working Rogers ICS ROM', or something like that. I used Superlite and then went to Smooth Ice and have no complaints.
well not to put my team's rom up. but if you use our rom after we're gonna update today you are not gonna wanna leave it =).. you think you had enough with other roms. haha you have seen nothing yet.
Hey fellow Canucks, I've tried at least five different modems for this badboy and haven't loved one yet. I had the most signal bars in general with UCLAC4 but found it was dropping data sometimes. Currently running UXKJ7 with AOKP R4ins Oct5, experiencing similar results. Anyone living in the GTA (Ontario) getting better results than this? Mind sharing your modem choice and maybe what build you are running? I feel like i am using extra juice that could be saved if the modem wasn't constantly struggling to achieve a connection. Any help is appreciated. HTG
Not in the GTA but on Rogers in KW. I did a comparison of UCLF6, UCLF5, UCLE2, and RUXLF3 and didn't find any statistically significant difference in ping, download or upload speed.
Mind you this was before LTE was brought to this area so I will have to retest, but my conclusion was to just go with the modem packaged in the official Rogers ICS release for the Skyrocket (RUXLF3).

Im mostly in Mississauga-Brampton-Vaughan area and use RUXLF3 from Rogers ICS, now on Orthus 4 AOKP JB with the same radio and very happy.
Well, happy to the point that there is nothing else possible to do in order of getting better reception.
No big differences between other radios really. One thing I can confirm, same as you said UCLAC4 was the best but too good to be true (back in the day whe I tested all available radios).
