Hello devs,
recently I updated to the last android sdk and got really excited about the new features. As the time goes by I noticed some annoying issues.
1.
Problem: Eclipse marks some line of code that is correct, as an error.
Solution: Project -> Clean
2.
Problem: When referencing a library project everything compiles fine and works fine when running from eclipse. But when you export the application and then download and run it, you get a "Class not found exception" sometimes.
Solution: Project -> Clean (project and library project)
This last one was really an issue to me because I ran the app from eclipse, worked fine and then published it to Google play and got lots of Force close ratings without knowing why!
I'm wondering if there are other people with the same issue out there?

Hey everyone,
Long time follower of XDA, first time poster.
I've got a custom ROM (eclair 2.1) which i've been porting running on a custom omap device for a little project of mine. Everything is fine, I have most Gapps working (Nav, Maps, Places etc.). But I can't seem to get VoiceSearch to run without giving me "connection problems" issue.
I've extracted Gapps packages from CM5. pushed NetworkLocation.apk (which solved a networkprovider error earlier) and the VoiceSearch 2.1 apk with still no luck.
Log cat is not throwing back any errors. Mic works fine, 3G works fine. I just get the "Connection problem" when ever the speech recognition intent is called. I don't understand what the problem could be...
So i'm hoping someone can explain what requirements, missing packages (etc.), i need to get it running
Thanks in advance
I've been seeing a lot of requests recently on StackOverflow and the android-developers group for help with building and extending the Launcher2 from stock AOSP.
I've tried building the ICS launcher myself a while back (June 2012) and succeeded fairly well.
I open sourced my efforts here:
https://github.com/RaghavSood/CompilingLauncher2
What doesn't work:
Adding a widget to the homescreen crashes the app as it uses a system level permission. Installing via root into the same place as other system apps may fix this, but I haven't tried.
The app list is strangely magnified. I had this working correctly at some point of time, but then I changed something and it got all zoomed in. Widget list is normal sized though. I don't remember what I changed though, as it was back in June.
If someone is able to fix it, I'd welcome patches and bugfixes. If not, I'll be getting back to it after march, as I have exams right now. Just dropped in to share a mostly working and compiling version.
EDIT1
After a request from a friend earlier today, I've also modified the JB 4.1 Stock AOSP 4.1 Email client to compile with the public SDK and published it here:
https://github.com/RaghavSood/CompilingAndroidMail
Gmail IDs currently login and sync and work fine, but hotmail IDs seem to result in server errors.
Reserved for future use.
Hello all,
From the recent access to the google play store from the nook hd+ and the deep discounts, I decided to get the nook hd+.
Indeed, it is a great device, and the addition of google play makes it so much more powerful.
Thanks to leapinrar's rooting and extras file, I can also download all sorts of awesome apps for it. I went ahead and downloaded the universal root kit as well as the extras kit that allowed apps of unknown sources to be downloaded to it.
However, there are a couple issues happening:
1. This happens intermittenly- Every once in a while, the nook hd+ completely resets itself for no particular reason. Sometimes it happened every ten minutes, yet it didn't happen at all yesterday. I am not sure what is going on.
2. This happens all the time- Every time I open the library menu, it crashes, saying "unfortunately, library has stopped."
I didn't have neither of these problems before getting it rooted. Can anybody point me to the right direction in solving this problem?
BTW, I put the post in this section, because they didn't allow me to post at the nook hd+ specific forums. Please redirect post to appropriate place if necessary.
Thanks in advance for all of the help!
Hi to every one. i am a newbee and want to develop some comprehensive apps. i got some problem here while developing a testing app. everything is fine. i got no errors in code. but when ever i tried to run the project on emulator or to the real device. i suddenly got an error saying " Unfortunately app has been stopped". what does that mean. i am using eclipse and setting environment properly. working on API level 19 which is by default downloaded with the eclipse package in latest versions. and not any else API has been downloaded by me.

Com'on devs .. answer please..
I tried doing a search and couldn't find a relevant thread, but I have a few questions...
OK first, the issue that brings me here is the only web browser that I like (Boat) has long been dead and out of development, it's long not been on the play store but I've had the APK for a long time and just transfered it to every new phone I got so I could keep using it. I have tried finding a different browser, but I hate them all, none of them have any of the features I want. My last phone was running Android 9.0 and Boat was still working on it. Well, I got a new phone now (Pixel 4a 5g) that has Android 11 and boat still mostly works... except it crashes if I click the bar at the top to type in a URL and a few other bugs... but otherwise still works flawlessly.
1. So, I'm wondering first is it even OK for someone to look to hire a developer to basically update a dead app? Any website and contact information for the original developer no longer exists, but I don't know if it's OK for someone to take over a dead app like that, if it would be considered stealing or something.
2. Second, well if it's OK... I have the last APKs of the browser and I had used a guide to deconstruct the APK into a project thinking maybe I can figure it out and how to update it so that it still works but... yeah that's not happening. So I have the APK files and the already deconstructed into a project and was wondering where I can ask about hiring a developer just to basically update the app so that it still works (bug fixes only, not really making any changes to the look/feel/etc, just fix any bugs or code that's old and deprecated and doesn't work anymore)? And when I say hire, I mean like actually hire, with real money.

First topic is about licence agreement and legal stuff. It is owned by "Boatmob, Inc." / "Digital Life International Limited" / "Crunchbase Inc.". Although the app was for free, it does not seem to be a free licences. But I am not an expert in this area.
About the browser app itself, I have seen that you were already active here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/boat-browser.3821682/
You either need a permission of the owning company and then maintain the app yourself (or via a hired dev), or you have to switch to another and still actively supported browser app.
