Nope. You have to use the Asus app. Sorry.

Thanks.

(Q) Just to be clear. Unlock bootloader= Voided Warranty?

Just got my TF300. Is there no way to do it without Asus knowing? Just want to be clear that this is the only way to flash recovery at this time.
Unlocked bootloader = void warranty.
Yes. if you unlock bootloader, you void your warranty
No way yet, some of us are working on it but we aren't there yet. And yes, unlocking is the only way to flash a custom recovery, but you can still get root.
Ok thanks a lot guys. Just wanted to be sure. Just upgraded today from a TF101.
I already have root as I wanted to restore some stuff with titanium. I'm cool for now as far as roms go. And thanks to anyone helping us get the bootloader unlocked.
but...
Is their any way to lock the boot loader back? i mean back in the mytouch days you could have s off and turn it back on
No, not with the way Asus unlocks the bootloader.
I thought doing a custom rom voided the warranty but you can do root without voiding the warranty?

Correct. Rooting is just taking administer access over the operating system. Unlocking the boot loader to installed Recovery/Roms will void your warranty.

Back to stock...

As the title states if I root my device is there any way to go back to stock and re-lock the bootloader? Gonna be rooting soon and I'm used to my nexus devices that you can do just about anything with. Thank you in advance...

As far as i know there is no way to undo the bootloader unlocking procedure.
If you only rooted your device without unlocking the bootloader then it's reversible by doing a factory reset.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
Wrong section - to... Q&A section.
To answer your question.
As your serialnumber will be sent to ASUS you don't have any advantage or disadvantage to revert back to a locked bootloader or a non custom recovery.

Unable to update to Jelly Bean

I have been checking for updates over and over for the past 48 hours and gotten no update. I have heard that this is due to the fact that I unlocked my bootloader, even though I did nothing with it after that. I didn't even root it.
Can someone tell me how to lock the bootloader or which file I need to download to go back to the stock rom? This is starting to annoy me.
Did you even read the warning when unlocking the bootloader? It says you void your warranty and are running non stock firmware and will not receive updates. You have to manually update.
Also, you cannot re-lock the bootloader.

My whole point is that I did not run non-stock firmware. All I did was unlock the bootloader. I installed no roms, nor did I root.
I have read that if I flash back to the .29 stock rom it will re-lock the bootloader and allow me to receive updates.

Even if you're running stock firmware, and not rooted, unlocking bootloader is still unlocking bootloader, and you DID unlock your bootloader, so you DON'T get OTA update. and there is NO WAY to re-lock the bootloader, even if you can re-lock it, asus still know your bootloader is unlocked, because when you used the bootloader unlock tool, it sent your tablet info (serial number i think) to asus server.
Sadly it is true no OTA JB for you.... but if your dead set on getting JB read this....

This.
And in Asus' eyes an unlocked bootloader is not stock firmware....even if it completely stock.
Also really flashing old firmware......if even possible......will not really lock your bootloader

maybe it started to download some ota update and hanged without you noticing, lefting you in "limbo" - check if there is some file in /cache (you should be able to see it with esfile even without root, but you need root to do any change) or some log

How to install custom ROM on a locked bootloader

Hello,
Im a happy owner of infinity and recently I have been really tempted to install a custom rom. However I would never wanna unlock my boot loader as I don't want to lose warranty. So here are a few questions I have:
1. From what I read, there are roms that can be installed on locked boot loader, is this true?
2. If yes for question 1, then can u recommend the best and most stable rom for locked boot loader?
3. Would I be able to reverse this operation and reinstall stock rom, in case if I need to send it to Asus for fixing?
4. If reversable, once reversed, is warranty still intact?
I appreciate and thank those who help me with this.

no, it can't be done at this time.
The first reply covers it all. You can't have your cake and eat it at the same time.

[Q] TF300T Unlock bootloader w/o Unlock app

Does anyone know of any way to to unlock the bootloader of the TF300T without the use of the Asus unlock tool?? I'm sure there has to be a way to unlock this tablet manually without having to use the unlock app supplied by Asus. I was told by Asus tech that I would NEVER be able to unlock the tablet again using the unlock app because I already unlocked it previously (the serial number is shown as being unlocked in the Asus database) even though when Asus changed the motherboard they locked the tablet.
I figure is there is a manual way of doing this without having the tablet send information to the Asus servers/database (which is what the unlock app does) then I and others would be able to unlock the tablet without having the issues that people are having.
I know that for other tablets and android phones unlocking the bootloader requires the use of a pc and ADB commands, so what not the same process for the TF300T?
Thanks
