NEED ROOT! put the zip file in /system/customsize/resource/ and replace the original one(bootanimation.zip or htc_bootanimation.zip) then reboot.
If you are not use a sense4 ROM, replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip
backup your data first.
you can use ROOT Explorer or ES File Explorer to do this.
GOOD LUCK~:good:

Any chance with white background and black font of quietly brilliant?
If you look in the file, it's just pictures named in a certain way so the phone knows what goes in what order, if you want moving things, out then first and then static image for when it is booted up if you know what I mean or the same animation after, lol at several boot animations and look though the zip file

Edit : I didn't do backup thats my fault . I just replace the file like copy and paste using root browser.
EDIT (again) : its working(finally!) .. what i did was, i rename the "bootanimation.zip" to "htc_bootanimation.zip" and voila!!...

my original bootanim placed in data/local and i have changed to this file by rename it to bootanimation.zip
but there's only black screen in boot.
what should i do to fix this??
thanks.
once again, i think down animation is too short.
2 or 3 seconds more would be nice

When will original ICS-rom for Desire S?..
I tried copying htc_bootanimation.zip via both ESExplorer and IOFileManager, both app failed to copy the file into that directory.
What am I doing wrong?
Also, in that system/costumize/resource directory, I have a file called bootanimation.zip. Do I need to do any cut/rename of any files here?
u need root access if u wanna push file to system and also if u have bootanimation.zip not htc_bootanimation.zip u need to rename file to bootanimation.zip
For some reason I found my zip file in system/media

ur welcome
Couldn't get this working when replacing htc_bootanimation however I tried it for downanimation and it worked but it doesn't take up the full screen.
Edit/That was with endymion, all good now, nice one..
(SOMEONE PLEASE PROVIDE PATH TO STOCK BOOT ANIMATION SO I CAN UPDATE THE CORRECT PATH) AS OF RIGHT NOW, THIS IS NOT CORRECT)
Here is a ported Jelly Bean boot animation. Had to port it over Because the OTA file actually had the resolution set at 640 x 640... not sure if that would have worked, but there was also some incorrect characters in the desc.txt. So I fixed all that and booted it up on my Galaxy Nexus, no problems. Should work on any 720p phone period, but here it is.
Taken from this file
5a07884d325c.signed-takju-JRN84D-from-IMM30D.5a07884d.zip
Here is the bootanimation, its a flaming nexus symbol basically.
>>>>>>>>> HERE <<<<<<<<<<<
1. rename to bootanimation.zip
2. mount system r/w in root explorer
3. move to /system/media
4. change permissions to rw-r--r-- or chmod 644 if using adb
5. boot and enjoy

That means you didn't over write the file correctly. Try again but delete or rename the existing bootanimation.zip in /system/media before copying the new one, and be sure you are using root access.
Our boot animation is in /system/customize/resource
Folder is named boot.zip or "ATT boot something" depending on the ROM you are running. Just back up the right file and rename it.

So, no credit for me really. I just tossed it in a cwm zip. It was bound to turn up sooner or later...

It's not a compressed zip file. It's just storage. Then you'll have to copy it to system/customize/resource after you've renamed the one that's in there. (something like bootanimation.zip.old) Then hit paste and set permissions to match your old one. Reboot & check out your handiwork.

The ORIGINAL animated boot image was a glowing Andy next to the word "Android." I posted it in another thread. I'll link to it when I get home.
Sent from Spaceball One.
I COMPLETELY forgot about the original Android animated boot image. Here we go.
1st let me tell you what and all required for a custom bootanimation.
You must have a ROOTED device.
A root file manager such as ROOT EXPLORER
Custom bootanimation of your choice
15-20 minutes of time
and importantly PATIENCE
if you have all these then proceed to the next step
Download any of you favorite Bootanimation from here or from any other thread/site
How to add:
You need root and CWM Recovery.
If you need the stock bootanimation then make a back up of that using RootExplorer
Copy the bootanimation to your SD Card.
Rename to bootanimation.zip -If the zipfile has any other name plz rename it to "bootanimation.zip" , without quotes
With root explorer or any other app that allows you to get to /system/media
Copy the bootanimation .zip into /system/media and replace it with the stock one (remember to mount R/W)
And Finally set permissions to rw--r--r--
Should Look something like this
x x -
x - -
x - -
All Bootanimations are of 320x480 size , so will support TIPO and MIRO ,but in Xperia J they might look small because of higher res. screen

I tried to port it correctly, edited the file resolutions to 480x800 and the one in desc.txt to 320x480, yet they seem to be off-placed, I can't see them.
