Hi all,
I just noticed a problem today.
When I plugged my charger cable into the Asus TF300T Keyboard Dock as I normally do, instead of just glowing a solid orange, I'm getting a flashing orange light.
I tried to look in the documentation to see what a flashing light means and I can't find anything.
I tested plugging in the charger directly into the tablet itself and that LED glows a solid orange as it should.
Does anyone know what the flashing orange means?
Thanks
Rob

UPDATE: Seem search did not find anything before I posted this thread. I ended up finding a post where someone said the cable might be bad. I wiggled the cable and now it went back to a solid orange. Maybe I should call Asus and have then replace the cable?
Yeah I have gotten a flashing orange light a few times now. The light flashes when the dock battery is low. The dock is designed to drain itself before the tablets battery. I have used it docked for over two hours with the light flashing. When I plug it into the wall it will continue to flash till the battery is charged to a certain percent. I haven't seen it on any websites or manuals however if you have a laptop and the battery gets to a critical level they it will also flash. Keep it plugged in and charge it up and it should go back to solid.
I think that is normal... I have an Asus netbook that also flashes the battery led when it is lower than 10%. I think it is there just to warn you that the battery is over.
Still, this shouldn't happen on a dock, since you can use it without battery, and it gets pretty annoying...
It's a 2-step charging process. If the dock is used it will go to 0% by transferring charge to the tablet. Plugging the cable into the dock starts to charge it but at the same time it discharges into the tablet. The flashing light is just a low power warning on the dock, nothing to worry about.
My led is flashing RED, 2 seconds interval, I suspect a fully depleted or dead battery, anybody seen a RED light instead of orange please? Thank you.

Never seen a red flashing light on mine. Does it respond to charging?
My battery is on 0% and not charging, maybe dead, I think this is the sign, a 2 sec red color on/off pulse.
I think is red only when battery is heavily depleted.

I haven't run down the battery until today (always kept it plugged in) Is it normal for the charging indicator to flash red while it is charging? Or is there something wrong?
In my experience flashing red means the dock is dead and needs charged. Should be solid red or solid green when charging.

Yea seems like the dock was dead. After about 15 minutes of charging, it's a solid red again
Thanks

All this is explained in the little book that came with your dock. Solid Green above 95%, Solid Orange (they call it orange) means below 95% or above 10%
Orange blinking: Battery less than 10% more than 3%
Orange blinking fast: Battery less than 3%
Basically I just got my TF combo for few days, and I gotta say I'm impressed with it so far. However, I encounter 1 weird bug like this:
Ok, before I go to bed, I put the TF on the kb dock and plug the combo to the wall-charger (just like I charge my other devices). I can see the battery icon on the TF changed to a thunder icon suggesting it's charging. However, I've waited and see no fully charged icon at all. Then I let it charge overnight. The next morning I wake up (I've tried this for few days), I see the thunder icon disappeared (wall-charger still plugged in btw), and the kb dock has not been charged (or has been discharged completely somehow). I can say this because the internal TF battery is now discharged under normal usage and shows no sign of kb battery or the kb is charging the tablet.
So far, due to this bug, I couldn't experience the "16 hours" claim.
If you guys have any suggestions, please advise.
Thanks.

It came with 8.2.3.9 and no, I did not install any OTA update (I wish I could though)
its out. just check for updates, it will pop a notification. fixes most dock issues.
as far as I can tell, the 8.2.3.13 is only available to US and Taiwan customers only. Mine is UK version, so no update is available yet
With the dock plugged into power, what does the LED light next to the jack on the side of the dock do? Blinking red? Solid red? Solid green?
And the icon would be a lightning bolt, as lightning is actually electricity. Thunder is just noise from the superheated air caused by lightning.

Thanks for clarifying ^^ English is not my native language so excuse me for that
btw, when charging with the TF docked, the light next to it is solid orange (it's not so red ). When I'm using the combo, the light is blinking orange (slowly). I've never seen the light turns green ever!
Last night I reset the TF and unplug/replug the wall charger. I noticed this morning when I wake up, the TF still shows the lightening icon (it doesn't the other morning), but when I unplug the combo, the lightening icon disappeared immediately and showed no sign that the kb is still providing power to the TF (which I've heard it suppose to do).
I start to think I have a defective kb here...or may be just the FW problem...will have to wait till I get the newest FW update to find out But no sign of new FW for UK/WW SKU
Mine has been fine (got the combo last Friday) - charge took about 7 hours and light went green) discharging it over the weekend and not on the second recharge) - I'm in the UK with the fact installed FW - no issues here so is yours faulty? I'd get onto Asus myself?
when the dock is fully charged, the LED should go green...
hopefully the release with battery indicator of both the tablet and keyboard can be out soon...it does seem like a mystery to figure out which part is providing the power..(yes..we all know how it should work but this may not always be the case)
Quote from another thread
Solid Green light = Battery above 95% charge.
Solid Orange (they call it orange) = 10-95% charge.
Orange blinking = Battery less than 3-10% charge.
Orange fast blinking = Battery less than 3% charge.

Just in case... are you plugging it in the tablet or the keyboard? I don't think plugging in the tablet would charge the keyboard would it?
EDIT: ignore this post. I just realized my mistake ;-) I need coffee this morning!!!
Red?

How to completely discharge TF & dock?
How do you completely discharge TF & dock unit for a complete re-charge to eliminate any battery memory problem? Just use the units until it completely out of juice and shut down on its own I guess?
Thanks in advance.

there's no red..so Solid Red is just Solid Orange..and it's 10-95% charge..so presumably it's still charging..
I've been charging the dock only for 6-7 hours straight now, and it still shows solid orange light. I think I'm gonna leave it plugged in overnight to see what happens the next day.
How long does it take for your docks to turn green?
btw, is there anyway I can reset the dock somehow?

I wonder this as well ^^
OK, after plugged the kb in for at least 7 hours straight, I took it out and docked the TF. guess what? It's blinking orange, and not charging the TF at all!!!!
I just couldn't wait for the official .13 FW from ASUS so went ahead and updated by using Prime ROM. It comes with 0209 FW fro the KB as well, so hopefully it'll be fixed. I'll try and see in the next morning. But it seems like I'm having a defective kb here >_<
Damn!
How do you know what charge you have in your kb. For example my tf which is docked at the moment is showing 99% charge but that is presumably the tf only not the kb as well. So how do I know when the kb needs recharging ?
Also does the charge indicator light on the kb only show up when it is plugged into mains ?
I am using latest firmware in UK

At the moment the tablet only shows it's own charge, even when docked. And yes, until they add the battery meter for the dock in a future firmware, I think the only way to see the docks charge at the moment is by plugging it in and looking at that led.
It's definitely not holding any charge after fw update, and of course not charging the tablet Just called Asus, provided no help at all, said I should contact retailer for help Damn!

Hi, does anyone know have this product that came with the Anker 1900mAH battery for sensation?
If so, how long does it take for it to fully charge a battery, Does the red light turn green when it is fully charge? I'm confused what the blue / red light means. And does it matter which side you put the positive and negative?
Thanks
about ~3-4 hours from 30% for me. Blue light means fully charged. When you have it properly connected it briefly flashes red, which means it's ready to be charged. Then you can plug it into a power socket.
I've got the same questions, but the results are confusing. I have the positive and negative contacts touched by the pins, and if the Anker wall charger is -NOT- plugged into the wall, the red light will stay on. When I plug it in, the red light goes away and stays off. When I unplug it from the wall again (while the battery is still in it), the red light comes back on solid.
Is this normal? Should there be no light while it's charging? The wall socket works for everything else I plug into it, FYI.
When the pins touch the battery it should briefly (5 seconds or so) flash red meaning its properly hooked up. The red light will then disappear if you don't plug it into the wall.
When you plug it into the wall, it again turns red and remains red until it finishes charging, which it then turns blue.
Are you using the white anker charger? You might try a different battery, like a digicam battery and see if reacts any differently. I charged my canon Li ion battery with no problems.

It works, just took a long time to charge for the first time, since I drain out the battery, and will keep doing it atleast 3 times. Once its done charging it will turn bluish =) thanks!
Hello everyone, i juste received mine and the red is blue after 1 hour charging ... is it normal ? because i saw that it was about 3 hours charging !!!
i know that a full charge for a htc stock battery is 4200mv and what is it for anker battery 1900mah ?
For my stock battery i had to flip it logo side down so the connectors are on the right hand side, then i adjusted them to MATCH up the + and -.
What I was doing wrong at first was plugging the battery in wrong. The label should be facing up and the left pin on the far left contact. Right pin on the far right contact. The battery doesn't sit in it right. It hangs off the right.

It doesn't matter which direction you put in the battery because it automatically adjusts the polarity. Just make sure the pins are on the + - of the battery and it's held in securely. I actually broke the plastic that divides the pins moving the adjustable pins on the charger so becareful.
For some reason on my charger (white one) there was an extra dummy peg that I had to use a dremel tool to grind down the plastic and remove. It works fine now though, charging one of the totally drain Anker 1900mah batteries that came with it does take about 3-4 hours.
The cool thing is that with 2 of the Anker batteries and this charger, I don't have to worry about charging my phone anymore, just pop in the charged one, charge the dead one, rinse and repeat! No more plug in charging. In the last 3 weeks I've charged by cable once.

That extra peg is for keeping the battery from twisting while in the charger. For batteries with pads on the left, slide the rightmost peg to the right. For right, use the left. Get it?
Yeah, I get that, but with the extra peg in there the Sensation battery was hanging off the by quite a bit. I still kept the one on the left side (which was shown in the pic when I bought it).
I have 2 Anker 1900mha batteries with USB/Universal Travel Charger (bought from amazon) and I'm very happy with it. It last a lot longer than stock battery, even 2,5 days sometimes with light use.
So I got 1 stock and 2 Anker batteries and I'm recharging it with this external charger, very rare with phone charger itself. My question is -
Should I wipe battery stats each time I exchange totally discharged battery to recharged one ?
Stock battery is used very rare, only when I'm travelling far.

No. Your batteries will last longer if you do not completely discharge them. It's better to charge them daily.

Thanks for the information. I honestly did not know why the extra pegs were for.
Can anyone help out?
This charger is difficult to comprehend.
First, the actual Positive and Negative on the battery? The label can be misleading?
Is it the far left and far right gold area? or the middle left & middle right? I have a Galaxy S11 so I have 4 gold sections and the "+" and "-" signs don't line up...
Can any one guide us to where to put the PINS?
Mine turns red , then blue in about 30 seconds, left it on all night but when I put in the phone it was only 50 % ??? after 8 hours??
No Directions came wiht the charger?

The far left and far right Batt gold area are correct for charger pins to contact. Red=charging Blue=done charging (s/b 100%).
How to Position PINS and battery in te ANKER Universal Charger
Hi all,
I got a response from "laptopmate.us" but it too did not work: they said to use the Battery connection to the far right and far left on the battery...this only caused me to see a red light for a few seconds then Blue...But the battery was NOT charged.
So, What works for me:
With charger facing toward you, Battery (front label facing you), I pushed the PINS over to the right of the charger, Connect the first PIN on the left...to the Battery connection "Second to the far left" and the next PIN (right PIN)... to the Battery connection on the far right of the battery.
This worked and the light stayed red until the battery was fully charged, then blue!
Maybe it is more of an art then a science depending on the battery you have?
If anyone is still confused, I can post a picture after I am home tonight....
Does anyone know if there is a difference between charging these Anker batteries with the wall charger or with a USB cable? Do the results differ?

m2 my battery ran out. Remember charge for more than 15 days. Now there are only red light flashing. I happened to pull the battery for charging but not I think the like. anyone has any idea to charge it with universal charger?
Same thing happened to me, what helped was to reset the device (small hidden button under the microSD cover) when it was connected to the charger.
After updating to KatshMallow #26 I noticed my dock battery was never charging above 92%. I plugged the dock in alone overnight and the next morning it only shwed 87%. So I connect the tablet and ran it down until it shut off. Prior to shutting down the dock battery indicator never changed from 92%. I also didn't see any indication that the tablet was drawing from the dock battery. I plugged in the dock with the tablet attached and once I saw the green light on the tablet I powered it up. Dock battery = 87%, Tablet battery 100%. I left it plugged in with the tablet attached overnight and nothing changed. Same indications the next morning. Dock never moves from 87% no matter what I do. I installed Dual Battery widget and it only shows one battery. ???
Not sure what happened, and I don't think the update has anything to do with the issue. The dock battery has probably been going south for a while but I didn't notice it until I updated to #26. I have searched numerous threads looking for comparable issues but nothing matches. Even so I tried some of the different apps suggested with no luck. It is puzzling that Dual Battery Widget only shows 1 battery when the Asus indicators show 2.
I have found a replacement battery for $29.00 but before I spend the loot and risk trashing my dock I would like to be certain that it truly is a bad battery and not some flukey software issue that I can fix. Also, all other features on the dock work fine.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: After leaving the tablet and dock combo unplugged for most of the morning, the orange power light on the dock began to flash. Once I plugged it in, it immediately went solid orange. My understanding is that the light flashes when the battery level gets below 10%. So is it working properly except the screen indicator is lying to me?
