[Q]Painting My P506 - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I were to take my P506 apart and paint it to look similar to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM_6wWzlR4o&feature=fvwrel , How would you guys recommend I do it? What type of paint should I use?

And if that sounds silly, should this fit my p506 ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Repla...ccessories&hash=item4167105b4c#ht_1859wt_1274

In the comments from the video, the guy says what he used: urethane paint.

Front physical keys don't match. P506 has pointy ones while P500 are rounded. The back cover may work but not guarantees.

Well, Is it just a button underneath? Would the p500 buttons still press the buttons underneath?

Didn't see the second picture where it shows the buttons as well.
I guess it would work. they're basically the same phone only for different markets.

Diamond "PEN" with stylus...

Has anyone found a replacement magnetic stylus for the Diamond that has an integrated ink pen?
Cheers
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4150&t_mode=des
Says it for the Diamond but the picture doesn't look like the Diamond stylus.
Maybe this one

One question, how they work? I mean, while using as a standard stylus and pressing the screen then it does not throw drops of ink??

Umm. so you have to remove this nylon cap every time to use the pen. No useful I think and easy to lose it.
I 'd agree. I suspect that cap would become loose as well and may fall off, then you'd be left trying to get the stylus out without the cap on
Escellent...!

This is the one!! They are a great little backup to have if you don't have a handy pen...used it many a time to fill in a form or whatever when caught short. Highly recommended!!
Thanks

Ok If you buy please leve feedback about my concern in the cap.
Its OK, but.....
Well, got the stylii today from HK and they are quite smart and functional. A few things to note though:
1) the "end" of the stylus that matches the Diamond case is matched well but is not the supe high glossy polish (perhaps a little bit of the gloss finish)....hardly noticable but definately very slightly different
2) stylus is NOT magnetised ..... but it does have a nice fit and does not want to "fall out" of the case. However, I am going to fill the hollow body with iron filings and then magnetise same (other half is science teacher!!) which will then make perfectionist me happy!!
Overall would recommend the purchase as good value for money (you get 3) and I only use it infrequently (on plane for visas, etc)

[Q] Do Optimus 2X cases fit the G2X?

Just doing some research. I thought the G2X had the same design as the Optimus 2X (P990) but Phone Arena is telling me they have different sizes. Is this true?
theyre the same phone the o2x cases only have a cut out at the top corner for the antenna or something but yeah they fit theyre the same size etc
I got one by accident (a rubber one from ebay) and it made accessing the power button difficult. It also exposed a corner to scratches.
They're OK in a pinch but I'd try to avoid them if possible.

can you please take a picture of it?
They are the same exact dimensions, so the case will fit.
Though, I believe the cut outs are different for the o2x.
So it will fit, though you may have a hard time accessing parts of the phone.

There's a lot of rubber cases like that. I don't think it's for the O2x as much as it's just the design.
I believe everything is the same except the radio/baseband.

Dbrand and Spigen Thin Fit?

Anyone have issues applying the thin fit case after with a dbrand skin on. It does not seem to fit well. Secondly, I find the thin fit case is extremely hard to remove. Is it just me, or is this how the case is supposed to be?
They revised the fit so it's not as super tight. I have one and it works perfectly with a dbrand. You can check my case review OP because I posted pictures of the fit with my dbrand skin in there.

Yea I think mine was too tight. It was so tight upon removing the case, something weird happened. My volume down rocker now takes more force to push than before
Mine comes off with marginal effort but it's rock solid.

That's good to know they revised it. I think I got the bad batch. Do you have any idea of what may have caused the volume rocker issue?

It sounds like the case is sitting lower/higher than if should be depending on which part of the rocker its touching. It could be due to the initial overly tight fit of the case along with the skin. The newer version I have isn't loose at all, and fits fine with a skin. I used it the other day and it felt fine buttons and all. Spigen cases generally have very low tolerances so they got better, but this can occasionally cause an issue for some people.

yea, thats the issue. the volume down rocker is not as tactile as before. It requires significantly more force, and feels "mushy" instead.

You could RMA it if it's that bad. Unfortunately if you can't get it to click then there isn't a whole lot that can be done. Have you tried physically moving the rocker from the bottom/top up/down (not the way it clicks) to see it that helps

Yea I see what you mean. It looks normal, but doesn't feel right when you click it. I'm surprised a case could have done this.

Hardware mod to remove Joying logo

Do you have any ideas about best methods to remove the big and ugly Joying logo from the face plate of the head unit?
The logo defeats the purpose of trying to look as OEM as possible with the head unit. I for one would not want any Chinese brand name visible in my car.
In my experience nearly all of these are stickon/glueon types (so its easy for multiple companies to use), so there is probably some way to remove it.
Its silk screened so I doubt you could remove it without also ruining / discoloring the bottom black layer. Most effective way would probably be to vinyl wrap the edge.
Model makers have special products for removing old logos and paint from models they are repainting.
I'm guessing some form of decal remover would do it, otherwise some ultra fine grit sandpaper would fix it.
I removed the "Joying" from my face-plate using a product call "Goo Gone" worked like a charm. I first tested on an inside area of the face-plate to make sure it didn't harm the plastic. http://googone.com/products/original/

Same here, I removed my "Joying" logo today using my fingernail.
Any photo's guys?

Seller responded to emails, at least seems to make ROMs better, has a warranty that has been tested to work, ships from Europe.
But this is not the topic to discuss this. Thanks for the suggestions... I'll try to find something like Goo Gone in my country.

You can order the unit without the logo. I just broke the screen and ordered the new screen without the logo but you have to advice them when ordering.

Show your custom Bezels

My original Bezel was scratched pretty badly, so I bought a custom one, it sticks on top of the original. I am very happy with the results.
there are some replacement ones you can get that are also different than the OEM one. The ring itself just pops off with a spudger and clicks back in place with a small amount of force. There is apparently a plastic "C" ring that you have to be careful of when removing the old one, but short of that, the process seems pretty easy
Dang! That's beautiful.
