[Q] Screen saver for when plugged in?? - General Questions and Answers

I've done about 30 min of research into this and haven't found any app doing this. Just a round about way using Tasker or with no delay with alarm clock plus.
I've never made an app before so I have no idea how technically difficult this could/would be...
If phone is unplugged & inactive for time = x, then screen off as per normal.
If phone is plugged in & inactive for time = x, then launch live-wallpaper/photo/app.
Maybe working unlocking into screensaver exit if possible?
I don't have a scooby if this is do-able, easy or impossible?

Stopwatch & Countdown timer

I was looking for a stopwatch/countdown timer, but couldnt find one which continues when the phone goes into standby.
Regards
I thought I'd bump this up to the top, as I've done a few searches with no luck either.
IS there a countdown timer that works during standby?
(I used to use my old Palm Pilot timer to remind me about parking meter expirys).
Thanks for any help!
try Event Countdown freeware...works on wm5 or 6:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-event-countdown-v1-0.html
Thanks for your help, but that doesn't do it either.
Just for anybody reading this, if you set an alarm in wm5 or 6, the device will wake up and alarm will sound.
I have not been able to find a countdown timer that can wake the device and play a sound.
I'm almost thinking that it MIGHT be possible for a programmer (certainly not possible for me) to just "hijack" one of the alarms, and set it for some minutes or hours into the future??
Any help appreciated!
Try SPB Time maybe? I use the program but not for countdown timers really...
This doesn't look fancy but I have been using it tonight and it works just fine, even when the device goes into standby.

Thanks Mymegabyte, (wmstopwatch)
I tried that package a few days ago, if you try to use countdown, and then put the pda into standby, and wait beyoud the time you have set, then bring the device OUT of standby, the countdown timer THEN drops to 0, and an alarm rings.
In other words, it doesn't countinue counting down whilst in standby, and certainly doesn't wake up and play an alarm.
UPDATE; I had used the old version, I've just installed the new version on my HTC p3300 and the software shows NO keyboard, even after soft reset. so it can't be used....

[Q] Prevent WP7 sleep/standby while charging/on cradle

Is there any way to prevent turning off the screen while charging / on cradle?
I need it to see clock 24/7 while my device is charging.
Now if I connect device to the PC it goes standby (while on lock screen, when the time is displayed), even if "screen timeout" is set to never.
Thank you!

you didn't say which device you have, but if it's a focus then avoid this, you will get screen burn in
Bump...
I too am looking for this solution. Back in WM 5 and 6 we were able to set independent brightness and sleep times while on battery or while plugged in. I am on day 3 with this WP7 phone and am getting frustrated by the "simplification" of so many aspects that I was able to modify in the past.
If it's just the clock you need to see, then you might wanna try Nightclock, which is available for free in the marketplace. It shows a nice clock and has an option for preventing the screen from turning off.
While your lock screen does not require a password (pass number really) an extra menu item is added to the settings/lock&wallpaper/screen timeout drop menu... "never"
But if you require a password to unlock the screen, this "never" option disappears...
Unfortunately for me it is not just the clock.
While docked on my desk I like to keep it open on my SMS conversations to see if anything new has arrived.
While docked in my car on top of the dash, I like to keep it on maps to see if any traffic congestion might be ahead and listening to podcasts. Its rather distracting to keep watching for the screen to go dark and tap it every 5 minutes.

[Q] Is there a possibility (an app?) to make it impossible to shut down phone in cer

I would like to know if there is a possibility (maybe an app) to make it impossible for me to shut down / turn off my Android phone (in certain periods of the day). I want to not be able to turn off my phone.
(The reason behing it: In the morning every time the alarm goes off, instead of solving the math problem to turn it off, I turn off my phone and continue sleeping )

Wow. I thought I was a heavy sleeper, often hitting the snooze multiple times without actually waking up.
I can't imagine that there is a way to do this, without some sort of custom ROM that prevents shutting the phone off.
I'd suggest:
Putting the phone across the room so you have to get up to turn it off.
Getting an alarm clock and doing the same thing.
Getting one of the really annoying alarm clocks available at ThinkGeek.com that require you to find a part or do a puzzle to shut the alarm off.

[Q] Can't get screen to stay on

I use my tablet as an alarm clock and it has always worked perfectly. After the last system update, though, I find that I can't get the sreen to stay on. I have the screen timeout set to 5 minutes, and I cannot override that. I went in to developer settings and set it so the screen stays on when it is plugged in, but that does not work. I tried using the system clock app and using night mode but that also shuts off after 5 minutes, even when plugged in. I tried turning on the screen saver to the clcok setting when it is plugged in but that still does not keep the screen on past 5 minutes.
Anyone have any other ideas for something I could try?
There are a bunch of apps and widgets that make it easy to switch between "normal screen off with delay" or "screen always on". Have you tried one of these ? Since your setting is blocked as you say, I'm not sure if the apps can override it, but you can try.
for instance No screen off (widget)
or Keep screen on (a background app that checks the device's inclination)

I use app Backlight Switch. It has options to show in notifications and has a widget. You can also create an app list that auto-toggles it.

Clock using considerable battery

So i just got my phone and set up my timer to wake me up for work. I don't like using an alarm because due to not having a set bed time(I work nights).
Before I went to bed I finished charging the phone to 100% and set the time for 8hr and 30 minutes and to not disturb. When the timer went off I looked at the phone was at 57%. I looked at the battery usage and it showed the clock had used over 25% of the battery.
I've never noticed this being a problem with other phones till this one. Is this normal?
I'm guessing the timer is preventing the phone from going into dose / sleep mode, or keeps waking it up regularly while it counts down
You can hold the home button to activate Google assistant and just say something like "Set an alarm for 7 hours", assistant will say "Done" and your alarm will go off in 7 hours
Try clearing it's data. Start over.
Also possible battery usage is being misreported as another app may be responsible. I've seen this happen occasionally.

Wait....you set a Timer or an Alarm? I don't think a timer would allow the phone to sleep but I wouldn't expect it to use that much batter power. Was it background or foreground usage?
I set a timer. If I read it correctly it was active usage
