So I have read several places using minfreemanager helps with HOX multitask issues somewhat. My question is to what extent? Can you say use web browser, answer a text, then come back to same spot? What about same thing with gaming, streaming music in background and using gps? I really really love this phone, AMAZING display and build design. I am even willing to deal with the 10gb HD, but I stream music, read ebooks and use GPS alot. I just left sprint and want this phone sooo bad. Any input or personal experience on the matter will be appreciated and +1'd thanks!
I haven't used minfree personally, but I do have CleanROM installed. I can listen to Pandora while typing this, switch over to YouTube and watch a video (pandora pauses automatically) exit the video and keep typing in the xda-app and Pandora keeps playing where I left off in the song.
Is this the functionality you're looking for? I've been told the memory management settings in that ROM can improve it even further but I have yet to try those. The web browser isn't a fair test because the stock browser always tells it to reload.
I don't game so I can't comment on that.

Ok, just tried Pandora, GPS navigation, and I can start typing in here and switch to texting someone without it killing any of the apps. All my text stays on the screen in both apps. Not sure how much more you'd want really.

IM glad to hear this. What version of cleanrom are you running?

4.0 SE currently, but 4.1 looks to be even better at this.

Can anyone recommend a good podcast downloader and player for the evo?

I really like DoggCatcher.

I use a separate player and downloader, because I haven't found one solution that meets all my needs. For downloader, I use Dpod. It's functional without being overly complicated. It has a player built in, but I prefer Mortplayer. Astro Player is also very good, possibly better than Mortplayer, but it's buggy and the UI is hideous.

Thanks for the info guys =D

doggcatcher is the best.
Beyondpod for sure. Easy sorting and lots of options. Well worth the 7 dollars.

I'd recommend DoggCatcher as well.
'tuna
you can use NewsRob and/or Google Listen
I've been using Google Listen for my podcast-listening nees but I'm not happy with it and didn't even think to see if there was better (since Listen is directly from Google.)
Seeing how few people use listen, I think I'll try some others, starting with DoggCatcher.
Listen is a Labs app, pretty much meaning beta. I always get errors and it never remembers my place in the podcast and makes me re-download the entire episode. So frustrating!
Good thread.
True. Still havent decided on one. The market has a few to choose from. Im going to try out doggcatcher next and see what its like.

try miui music. that seems to be all the rave. I personally love the 2.2.1 com.android.music.apk... but don't know if its compatable with droid x.. can be found in the eris forums under development/froshedyo/version 7. long press volume to skip tracks but a similar UI just no visuals so it runs smooth

Doubletwist with AirSync.
PowerAmp. Best player out now, sound is terrific, and the EQ allows for audio tweaking to fit anyone's taste. Costs 4.99 in the market, but is definitely worth it if you care how your music sounds.

Its free on the market
It can do wifi sync if you have Winamp installed on your computer
I use mSpot. Its an awesome cloud based music player
+1 More for PowerAMP.
Lithium user here...and I personally love it.
The UI was just so original that I had to have it. I even went through the trouble of asking the dev to put it up on SlideMe market...as my bank won't allow charges in a foreign currency.
*OT*
Goddamn market...I swear...please convert currency FOR ME so my bank allows me to buy foreign applications...Too many times; I've wanted an app...but had to pirate it because it wasn't in the market or SlideME.
Player Pro (Paid) or Lithium Player (Paid). I hate the stock android player - no intuition whatsoever. I hate Apple products but the iPod/Phone music player is very nice.
I didn't hate the stock music player, but I downloaded the "leaked 2.3 music player apk" and I love the look and feel to it. With that app open, it feels like I am on an actual mp3 player and not a phone.

Glad to hear it. Mine worked amazing up until changing a few phone files for theme-ing. Now my music skips when running in the background if I'm doing any type of navigation on my phone (scrolling through apps, looking through facebook) Have you run into anything like that with the leaked app?
I use the winamp player, its pretty good

I've noticed this. Also, tons of forcecloses with the honeycomb music app.
One of the forum members on this site leaked a new motorola media player, its been reviewed on several droid blogs to be great, but apparently Motorola made him take it down.
tried real player yet? its not bad

I have tried google music , power amp and many others. Personally I love the stock htc one.
I don't like signatures....
Google Music has worked well for me.

Google Music, followed closely by winamp.
The only thing I like about the stock HTC player is that you can operate it at lock screen and notification bar. Other than that it doesn't have anything else.

For music I am using Music 3.0, which has a background that changes colors randomly. Considering the market recognizes it as Google Music, I assume it is, even though it looks nothing like the one in the market. For video, I use MoboPlayer.

I use PowerAMP and love it, very good, customizable, great EQ with presets and the ability to make your own presets, and native FLAC support. I haven't used GoogleMusic though, I got an invite but it turns out Linux isn't supported yet and it's just too big of a pain to move my music from my laptop, I have over 100 gigs.

Have you tried installing through wine? ?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Yeah but I couldn't get it to work well. Wine and I have never been good friends lol. It's very few and far between that I even think about using it. I could probably get it to run ok if I spent long enough toying with settings but with PowerAMP and a 32gig SD card I'm happy enough with how much music I have. If i ever really want something of my computer I have a VNC server set up on it that I can retrieve files over.
What do the people say?
Should I include ALLSHARE ? or is it trash?
i like the idea of all share but.... never use it

Toss it...
me to.. i like it because its 'not in the market' but there are other apps that do the same thing in the market.
I never use it either, I personally think its bloat, but I see alot of other roms are including it so I figured I would ASK!
Thx! Plz vote!!
bloat, keep out
Bloat.

Toss it. There is a better option.
UPnP and DicePlayer.
I have used AllShare A LOT. The problem is that it limits you to a stripped down version of Samsung "Videos" app. With an Exynos processor you'd never notice, but for the Skyrocket the Videos app doesn't work well with XviD. As a side note, to fix XviD choppiness, I run Gamecih 3.0 and set it to transparent, and all the lagginess is gone when playing XviD on DicePlayer.
Also, when you want to skip forward on DicePlayer when streaming over DLNA, it is simply stunning because it is so instant and responsive, unlike the Videos app which seems to have buffer issues.
Lastly, tou can download an updated AllShare from the Market if you really like AllShare or want to share your video on your phone to another DLNA device.
Installed Expirez ICS Rom and love the stability
The only bug i've found is that the stock music player tends to 'skitz out' for lack of a better term, when multitasking. starts playing the first like 2 seconds of songs, skips both forward and back songs on the playlist, and sometimes just stops altogether. has anyone else has this issue?
If it's a [Q] thread, it belongs into...?
No, not the General board - the Q&A board!
Thread moved.
I did have the issue, after about 3 minutes it played normal though....
