are you soff?
i presume not and just HTC-dev unlocked
if so this is the perfect guide for you
flashing roms with S-ON
read and follow the guide to the letter (as you are not having any rom installed ..you can skip the adb commands and can just connect the phone in fastboot and follow the fastboot commands from the guide)

How to get S-off after doing HTCdev Unlock Method

Ok guys first of all i have to thank trkaaa for his guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21922297&postcount=1
Also have to thank JTNiggle for his guide to get custom recovery after HTCDev Unlock. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
Also big thanks to the team that created the revolutionary method.
Before we begin im not responsible for anything that goes wrong. You made the choice.
Here is their site: http://revolutionary.io/
I preformed this with a TMOUS Sensation 4g and had a unlocked bootloader with
S-on. Im not sure about other regions
To kick things off if you did the HTCDev unlock method then you probably
have hboot 1.80.0000(or at least i did) with S-on. If so then proceed
1. First get this rom and flash if you dont know how to flash with HTCdev method
then follow JTNiggle's guide.
Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201697&highlight=real+stock+experience
2. After flashing that rom boot normally. Now your ready to preform the revolutionary method. Plug in your device and don't forget to get the older
drivers if ur running windows. Older driver can be found here:
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
3. Download the required revolutionary files and run revolutionary as administrator. Then fill out the form thing on the website with your device
information and type in the serial number. (Make sure you type it in correctly)
4. After hitting generate key it will provide you with a key and type that correctly into cmd window. Make sure you type it in correctly its case sensitive.
Then let revolutionary do all the work.
5. Caution: Ur device will reboot into the bootloader a couple times dont worry its normal. After that it will ask if you want to flash clockworkmod you can if u want to( i didn't because i personally wanted to flash 4ext recovery).
6. Enjoy folks u now have s-off on ur device
Hope this works for u guys a it did for me
Thanks u all for ur help i wouldnt have been able to do it without u
if at all possible could u hit the thanks i really want this thread to get on the
android development page but u see im a new user so yeah
Message me if u guys have questions i will try my best to help u guys
Also if anyone has tried this method plz feel free to post below ur results
This can be used if you used the HTCDev unlock method and you wanted to flash the
new firmware to get ICS on your sensation. Furthermore im not sure if this is compatible
with the Sensation XE model.
Here is a mirror for the 2.3.3 rom: Dropbox
Thank you so much

I don't see how this has fixed you phone.
I installed the rom mentioned, now my phone freezes at the boot screen with the HTC Logo. Which is no problem because I will restore my backup. But isn't getting me any closer to getting me S-OFF, as I still have a HBOOT of 1.27.000 which makes it impossible for me to use revolutionary.io
any ideas?
Alright i think i know ur problem i believe its the way u are flashing the rom. You have to put ur phone under usb debugging mode and use the adb tools to flash the rom. Meaning you cant directly place the rom on the sd card and hold volume down and power to get to recovery.
Use this way of flashing a rom:

Tell me if that works

You have Hboot 1.27 which is one of the Hboot versions thaot comes with a official ICS upgrade. For you to achieve S-off you will have to use Joupunutbear S-off not Revolutionary. You can not downgrade your Hboot version while you are S-on. Go check out this guide and this tool as I think they both will help you, but I recommend using the tool to do the S-off. There is another guide you can use too but it requires you to use HTC Dev unlock first, so I do not recommend it.

Sorry but what you suggested will not work for them unless they are able to flash a unlocked Hboot from here, the instructions to flash ot is also there as well. But still the main problem is they dan not downgrade their Hboot so this would be useless to tem as far as tring to gain S-off.
Thanks a lot im sry im new to this stuff but u deserve a thanks and im glad u helped
EDIT: This worked for me. Thanks a lot

pretty big emergency, got my friend's(!) phone bricked 3.33.709.6

tried to s-off, got stuck in boot loop.
I know that the easiest way to solve the problem is to flash the same rom as before, but I just can't find that said rom.
Unfortunately, I can't search the chinese web very well because I can't read it.
It would be amazing if someone could find me a (I believe this is TW ver) 3.33.709.6 rom or ruu.
I'm super desperate and have been working to solve this for 6 hours now.
more info plz..what SOFF method are you using ?
or are you doing HTC-DEV unlock ?
I did htc-dev unlock already.

and if you want to revert back to normal working condition ..check the troubleshoot point #4 in my soff guide (link in my signature)
I've already used your tool, sensation is not recognized by adb because it can't do usb debugging because the software is not available.
basically, the entire data partition has been wipe.

I don't have s-off so I can't get supercid. I've seriously tried everything on this forum.
I tried tw luu 3.32/ tw luu 1.35/ tw luu/ wwe 3.33 luu
I tried root-sensation-windows/temproot-sensation-windows/ 5 different roms and 3 attempts to flash firmware (failed due to s-on)
I really don't know what to do anymore.
I can't boot to os so typical tools do not work.
the rom I attempted to flash for the first time was ARHD. but it must be long gone cause I went into recovery and wiped all partition multiple times.
at the moment I think I have [L.E.R_Gentle]基于台版Z710XE_3.33.709修改_G2 on the phone but I can't tell because the phone will not boot to OS,
now tell me your status clearly ...
you did HTC-DEV unlock right ?
and you can boot into bootloader ?
then follow this guide to the letter ..and flash a custom ROM
dont come back with adb not working and all ..as adb is not at all required only fastboot is enough ..and that guide explained that too
so read read and READ ..dont be hasty ..as long as phone can go to bootloader you can get it to working condition

[Q] How to get started from my situation

Hi! I'm a newcommer to Android world . I really like the idea of being able to get my phone customized but the more I read the more difficult it gets. Right now I'm trying to process some data and i would really like some help .
1. The S-Off
As far as I have got the s-on is some kind of security system protecting system partitions from getting modified/ersed. But i have found guides here that claim that I can get root acces without getting s-off my phone. But the root is acces to the system files, right? So how does it work? To do flashing i have to have root or s-off?
2. The HBOOT
So the HBOOT is a bootloader, it gets phone up when I push the button. Bu it is also the partition on the NAND. It gets me confused as some say that bootloader is like a BIOS. But as far as I understand BIOS it can be manipulating crucial PC settings like for example the CPU clocks. But I read that in the Android we have kernel for that. Is this right?
3. Mu current phone state
After some reading I tried to get some information about my phone. So when I got to the HBOOT (?) it says:
***LOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIPS S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.02.0002
RADIO-3831.19.00.110
eMMC-boot
What bothers me is how from there i can get to flashing some Custom Roms? Currently I'm using official ICS becaouse I needed fully functioning phone for a while and didn't want to get it bricked. But right now I'm interested in change but when I think about it I'm getting confused. I would like to test Flinny's Cyanogen but I'm not sure can it be flashed on my hboot? Do i have to change hboot like it is in guide in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919
or just get my phone rooted on my HBOOT following the guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525100
?
Ok **roll up sleeves **
You need to decide what you want.
You can just unlock your bootloader via HTC Dev and still be S-ON and flash custom ROM's.
This is the easy process. The disadvantages are that you will loose warranty and will need to flash the kernel separately using a PC and some commands every time you flash a ROM.
On the other hand you can downgrade your HBOOT to 0.98 and then proceed to use revolutionary to gain S-OFF and unlock the bootloader. With this method you can still revert to stock in case you need to send the phone for warranty. You also don't need any additional steps to flash the kernel. It will be flashed along with the ROM.
In either case, after HTC dev unlock or downgrade and S-OFF you will need to flash a custom recovery which will enable you to take full nandroid backups and flash ROM'S.
Choice is yours
Read about both the methods and decide. Everything can be found in the index.

Ohh yes, forgot about that.
If you are on ICS, the only option for you now is HTC Dev unlock.

Yes, it seems that way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919 Guide here that is showing the proces of getting older HBOOT includes HTC-Dev unlocking. The bigger problem is that it includes many really advanced steps like creating gold cards and using Android Windows Tools which i guess are not the same thing as ADB(?) and there are no files becaouse
I will not supply the necessary files that is needed, you MUST know how to use SEARCH. I also suggest to give THANKS to those who originally made/uploaded the files.

wchich is overwhelming. The problem is that I don't want to get my phone bricked. My friend has Galaxy SII and is just flashing customs through Odin. I guess there isn't such thing for Desire S? So should i go this way? And if i follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525100 i will have custom rom but stock kernel? I have read that some Roms need specefic kernel otherwise some features or whole ROMs doesn't work which is just sad. And the only guide i have found of flashing kernel while S-On is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794867 but the guy there has different phone and different HBOOT so i guess it doesn't hel me...
You need to read more. With your current level of understanding I suggest you put your rooting plans aside and keep reading.

Try using Moonshine with the correct radio and firmware and you should be S-Off. Be sure to read and follow the prompts exactly. It is also important to have all of the phones drivers (including ADB drivers) installed PRIOR to attempting the S-Off.
Is the phone rooted?
Is a custom rom & recovery installed?
If so, you might consider running an RUU for the phone first. After the RUU finishes, do not root, do not install SU, and do not flash a new recovery. Just run the Moonshine S-Off method first.
Anymore questions, just ask away!

Hello everyone.
I tried using Moonshine to S-OFF my HTC One S (villec2), which didn’t quite go as intended and now I’m stuck in a boot loop.
I downloaded Moonshine from the Moonshine website, under HTC One S – S3 model (ville_c2), first download for ROM version 3.19.401.101 (I got that version number from Software information somewhere in Settings). I then made sure that the phone had Fast boot disabled under power options, turned off the screen lock, connected the phone to the desktop (running Ubuntu 14.10) via the USB cable, and did sudo ./distiller. Moonshine did its magic for a few minutes and, in the end, the phone was powered off. However, when I powered it on, it got stuck in a boot loop.
Now, to solve this, I rebooted into recovery mode (I’ve got something that says CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4, not quite sure where I got that) and tried restoring the backup I had previously made and/or wiping caches, none of which seemed to help.
So here’s where I am now: I can boot into bootloader just fine. The bootloader says moonshine S-OFF on top. Normal boot is stuck in a boot loop; it shows the regular splash screen for a few seconds, then a window entitled Android is upgrading… and a spinning progress thingy along with Optimizing app 1 of 24. for a second, then Starting apps. for a few more seconds, then the screen just turns off and the loop begins anew. Occasionally I can see, for a brief moment, an error message right at the end; I can’t quite discern what it says, but it is about a crash of something with gapps in its name.
During the boot loop, I can connect to the phone using ADB (and by that I mean that I can access the shell with adb shell or reboot into bootloader or recovery with adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery). Oddly enough, when I try to power down, the phone doesn’t power down but reboots into recovery instead. I tried powering it down by: holding the power button for a really long time (this, however, just restarts the boot loop); FASTBOOT → POWER DOWN from the bootloader; adb reboot -p; adb shell → reboot -p.
So, what do I do now? (I apologize if I made some obvious mistake with the procedure described above, or with making this post…)
EDIT: I also forgot to mention that the Moonshine directory seems to contain a file called boot_backup.img; can it help me with anything?
i have a problem with s-on. this app solved.
thanks for s-off
Hi, i want to thank all the people involved into moonshine's s-off solution for villec2. I've run it on 64-bit Debian Wheezy. It worked perfect. Finally my One S is free .
I can't thank you on solution thread because i have not enough posts to post anywhere.

Thanks again.

I guess having S-On for Ville C2 means same thing...that is, you must flash kernel in fastboot mode after every ROM flash.
So you could use OTA but after installing OTA you have to go to fastboot and flash the kernel from that OTA. It also means you should open the OTA zip on your PC and extract it from there to have it at hand when needed

2-. if you want to install .zip rom flashed from recovery you DONT need be a S-OFF, but, after flash a rom you need flash boot.mg from fastboot.
3-.The problem with unlock boot loader its very strange, i relock and unlock boot loader a lot of time and no problems.
Hey guys
I sincerely apologize in advance if this is wrong thread to post such question in. Please be so kind to redirect me to the right thread, I just got registered
Here's my problem. Couple of days ago my phone (HTC One S, villec2, S-ON, here's the picture from bootloader http://tinypic.com/r/qo87k6/8) started behaving somewhat out of the order. Every process that was there, everything started throwing out errors with the likes of Google play has stopped working, Music has stopped working, Messages has stopped working, nothing was the same as it was before that. And nothing else like cleaning the phone with some apps from Google Play didn't help. Therefore, I decided to install myself a custom ROM
Phone was already rooted two days after I got it. It was pretty straightforward process really. That was two years ago. I needed root acess to install some app that required root acess, don't ask me which app was this because I don't remember, honestly. It also installed TWRP 2.6.0.0 and SuperSU
I downloaded ROM (this one in particular http://www.android.gs/update-htc-one-s-to-android-5-1-1-lollipop-with-resurrection-remix-5-4-4-custom-rom/), followed instructions, got into TWRP and this is when the turd hit the fan. Instructions said that I need to wipe my phone. I did just that, with one exepction - I wiped everything from my phone. Spare me saying that I'm an idiot, I've got over that fact already
Basically, TWRP said that no OS is installed. Everything was wiped out from internal SD card aswell, including my ROM file that I put on the phone. I tried with mounting USB storage, which got me into the SD card on my PC and I've put ROM file on it again. So I tried flashing the ROM with TWRP but it kept telling me that my device is not supported to install this ROM
So I was stuck in bootloader with option to flash TWRP.img file from fastboot enviroment on PC, nothing more than that
I've tried at least 4 different ROM-s. One got installed on my phone but when I rebooted my device it got stuck on HTC logo screen and kept rebooting (boot loop I think it's called) until I manually got into bootloader with combination of power down+volume down button
So I started looking for solutions. I found out, that there's two different "flavours" of HTC One S. One is ville, the other one is villec2, which I have. I've read all about RUU files that can help me recover my phone but after searching through http://androidruu.com/?developer=VilleC2 I found nothing that can help me. I've downloaded two different RUU's, locked and unlocked bootloader twice, rebooted RUU but none of them was compatible with my phone
I've seen something about OTA manual updates, which I also tried but it didn't do anything. I've tried flashing firmware.zip that I got from OTA update file, flashed boot.img but then the phone got to the point where it should update but it kept showing me red triangle. The only option was, again, to boot it into bootloader and I was back at square one
Then I read something about turning your phone S-OFF with that moonshine software and about installing any RUU I want without complications. So I got one and realized that I can't do anything with it because my phone only boots in bootloader and as far as I understand, you need to run distiller.exe while the device is turned on and it has to be in Android OS. Which is not an option with me, because as I said, I can only boot my phone into bootloader and then boot something else via fastboot commands on my PC
Am I screwed here? I've tried literally every single thing, I've looked over dozens of recovery guides for this phone but none of them worked for me. I heard that I need exactly the same ROM (matching CID and everything) that was previously installed on the device. Thing is that I didn't do any backup of stock ROM before all that fiasco. I've tried this site too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200930 but all links seem dead, because it only shows me some advertisement things and nothing else
I know I got myself in a situation where anyone with a bit more brain than me would use this bricked phone as a paperweight but I'm stubborn enough to try just about everything to revive my device. At this moment it's stuck in bootloop. I can't boot into recovery because it only keeps rebooting over and over and over again. Fastboot recognizes my device if I type fastboot devices into command prompt but that's just about it
So please, if somebody has the slightest idea what am I to do, tell me all about it because I've ran out of ideas and there's nothing more to my knowledge to try at this point. Thanks in advance!
