[Q] HTC Inspire Recovery Trouble - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi, I was trying to un-root my HTC Inspire and I managed to get it from S-OFF to S-ON, but now I have no recovery and whenever I turn on the phone, it's stuck on the white HTC screen...I am able to load into HBOOT though. How can I fix this? Is there a way to flash a new recovery from HBOOT?

What method did you use to unroot? If it was the hack kit then go back to the hack kit thread, look at the first post, find the info about the irc chat, then jump in for some assistance.
Hell jump in there anyways just to see. Maybe they will help.

I donĀ“t know how u did it, but in now that u are s-on, you will only be able to flash att's RUU. Flash that from fastboot and you should be fine.

So even if im S-ON, shouldn't I still be able to flash the PD98img.zip?

[Q] Desire S rooted needs unrooting

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, basically I bought my desire s a few weeks ago and managed to root it, then added a Rom. However I believe I need to put back a stock Rom as it needs returning owing to a faulty speaker where I can't hear it ring, the output is getting worse each day. So basically I need to know which Rom and how to do it. I have tried searching but come to a dead end, lots of help for the desire but not my desire s. Many thanks in advance.
I'm sure I saw a thread knocking about in this forum where someone described the process of returning the phone completely back to s-on stock state, but I can't seem to find it myself now either.
Iirc though, restoring back to a stock rom and kernel may be enough to override the hboot and make it s-on and without root. There's something somewhere about flashing a stock hboot I'm sure.
Sorry I can't be more help than that.

This will over ride your alpharev hboot with an Eng S off hboot flash it via bootloader or Android flasher 1.8
Once you have done this you can flash an official ruu which remove your s-off and root status

Then put your phone in fastboot making sure it says fastboot usb then run Android flasher 1.8 chose hboot and browse for the .img file you extracted from the zip file earlier if all goes well you will be eng s- off then you can reflash an ruu

Desire S looping after rooting with SuperOneClick

Hi,
I just tried to root my Desire S.
SuperOneClick said it succeeded but the it rebooted and now just before it gets to the PIN screen, it changes back to the white "HTC quietly brilliant" screen.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thanks

Have you tried to take out the battery and try again?
First try not to pull the battery you could end up with a very good fried e-mmc chip. Now can you get into recovery? Or do you know how to use adb? If you can get into recovery then just wipe everything (cache, dalvik cache) then fix permissions then see if it boots.if it doesnt try flashing a new rom if it helps.

hmm, I'm glad I didnt see that 2nd post before I pulled the battery out!!
I can boot it now after pulling the battery out.
Its not rooted though so something went wrong.
Should SuperOneClick 2.2 just work first time or what?

Actually, is the rooting process different on the Desire S than the regular Desire?
I have a regular Desire and I have it rooted and flashed, with S-OFF. I did it in this order:
1: Root
2: Flash CM7
3: S-OFF
Is the Desire S different? I've just read a guide and the guy does S-OFF first, then roots the Desire S. Is this the correct order?

Head to revolutionary and do s-off and clockworkmod recovery image process then flash superuser.zip you can collect anywhere from net through that recovery.then you can download rom manager or 4ext recovery update to flash a newer better custom recovery image.after that you will be able to flash any rom.

Sensation bricked! Stock ROM, S-ON Never Flashed before and no cwm Recovery...help

My Sons HTC Sensation started playing up last night and stopped working!
Sometimes it actualy boots into android but then freezes and only a battery pull turns it off.
Somtimes it starts but the screen stays black but you can hear the welcome sound.
I played around with pressing buttons and sticking in the charger cable and got into the boot menu by pressing volume down and power.
But it is a "virgin" senation, completely stock without any cwm recovery and its never been flashed before. And naturally its s-on because its all completely stock.
Who can give me a tip on how to go about saving this phone? Is there any way to install cwm recovery on a s-on sensation and then flash rom?
Is there an PG86IMG.zip available to flash cwm recovery onto this s-on phone?
this should belong in the Q&A, not Dev section...
that's debatable seeing as I need to install cwm and a rom...
I'm not a complete newbie, I have an 3VO 3D with s-off and a good rom but I have no knowledge of sensation hence my plea for help here...
Is there an PG86IMG.zip available to flash cwm recovery onto this s-on phone?

I assume you've tried a factory reset? It's a long time since mine was stock, but I'm sure you can factory reset by holding the volume down whilst powering up and then choose the option from there... I could be wrong??

I've seen that thread but I have no knowledge of Linux and I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a PG86IMG.zip that might install cwm onto s-on device.
There is an PG86IMG.zip for 3VO 3D for s-on and also cwm that works with s-on devices.

That is to s-off the device and then install cwm. I cant get into a working android os to be able to use the http://revolutionary.io/ website. And I was hoping to be able to flash a recovery onto this s-on
still belongs in Q&A
click this link, shows how to do everything to the Sensation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
step 2 should have the custom recovery you are looking for, but it looks as if you would need s-off first? not sure, never tried it that way lol. tried running a RUU?
That link is for s-off...
For 3VO we can flash recovery with s-on, why isnt the same available for sensation?

Go into bootloader and do a factory reset. You can't flash custom recovery on it and you can't s-off it if it doesn't boot.

Someone who finally recognizes my problem, thanks for that. I can't s-off because I can't boot, that's why I was asking for a PG86IMG.zip to flash cwm on an s-on device...
I've been in the boot menu but didn't see any factory reset and that was only by chance. Now when I press volume down and power it stay black and just vibrates every 30 seconds or so...
EDIT: OK, I pulled the battery and tried again and now I'm in boot and lo and behold there is factory reset!!! SO I've pressed that and it rebooted and now its stuck on beatsaudio picture....hmmm 10 minutes later and I'm still on the beatsaudio logo....

You mentioned Beats Audio boot animation? Is it an XE? Are you from the US? EU? Somewhere else? What carrier is the Sensation on? It's important to know because different regions have different RUUs.
more info needed to select correct ruu... cid, mid, hboot version... will you post these for us please

Ok,
So I've used roms on my hd2 and one x, so I thought this would be simple on a friends sensation, oh how wrong was I.
I have unlocked the sensation via htcdev, installed clockworkmod and installed pyramids jellybean rom.
Now I have all sorts of issues, the rom boots then drops somehow straight to clockworkmod. I can't mount the sd card within clockworkmod to try a different rom and the phone is now useless, doh.
How can I fix this please guys?
Did you update the firmware? Are you s off or s on? If your s on you must flash boot image. Download 4 ext recovery, enable smart flash in 4ext. This way you can flash boot image. Please read flashing roms with s on. Also for that rom the firmware must also be upgraded. Let me link you to the guide to flashing roms with s on. This will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
Someone more knowledgeable than myself can give you step by step instructions to get you out of this pinch. But in the mean time read the link I posted about flashing with s on. It will help in the future. Best wishes not to worry I'm sure you can fix this.

HTC Dev doesn't really unlock it. It only partially unlocks it.
It doesn't s-off the device so you don't have access to the system partition, meaning you can't properly install a custom ROM without a few extra steps. And I don't think you can do it at all with clockworkmod. You need 4EXT Recovery which can flash a ROM with s-on. There's a few extra steps to doing it but it works.
You also have to make sure you have the correct firmware. So if the device was previously on a Gingerbread ROM and you didn't upgrade firmware, it won't work.
Now, the part where it boots then drops back into recovery is weird.
Tell us exactly what steps you did so we can better determine where something went flukely.
I'm CERTAIN it's fixable though.

Yes it should
Also some roms require 4ext it's a super easy touch recovery to use. You can download from here or the playstore.

Yeah I'm certain it's fixable too , just not sure how, lol. I'll give 4EXT a shot. I have no idea how or why it drops straight to clockworkmod either, I would expect it to reboot to clockworkmod if anything, but it just kind of switches from the rom straight to it, very odd.
If you could point me to a firmware I might need I would be very grateful.
It is universal 3.33 let me get link also 3.32 will work on most ics roms but 3.33 is the newest I'm running jelly bean and use 3.33

If you are s-off you shouldn't have to flash boot.img separately. It will do all that with the ROM flash.
Maybe that's what's screwy. Though a borked up ROM still shouldn't affect SD card mounting in recovery...that is really weird. Do you have a card reader that you can use to check the card out in your computer? I'm wondering if somehow you screwed up the card when flashing the ROM. Maybe it wont' mount because the card isn't formatted properly anymore. Stuff like that has happened before.

Hi,
It is a pity you went to HTC to unlock your phone.
I wonder if you can still s-off using revolutionary.
You are going to need to run a RUU,and hopefully get a working phone again.
Try and find a RUU HERE that matches your area and carrier.

Yup. If you have the 1.18 hboot you have Gingerbread firmware, which won't support Jellybean or ICS.
The good news is that you can flash a gingerbread rom and get the phone back to a working state right away if you need to get the phone back to the owner.
The RUU to restore is pretty simple. Then Revolutionary s-off proceedure is also extremely painless.
Reverting back to stock and starting over to s-off shouldn't take more than 15 minutes if you do it right. Then flashing the ICS/GB firmware (3.32 or 3.33) takes 3 minutes. Then the new rom takes 3 more minutes.
Just make sure you RUU to gingerbread and not to ICS. The ICS Hboots are harder to s-off. It's worth adding the extra step to flash the ICS/JB firmware later.
This is driving me nuts, tried 2 ruu's, both failed, if it was my phone it would be out the window!

[Q] Please help me get my ATT HTC One X up-to-date.

I bought the phone when it first came out. Play around with unlock bootloader, root and custom roms. I Currently have an older version of CM running on the phone with custom recovery.
I haven't touch the phone for months, and certainly I havent follow the forum for a long time. Recently I wanted to start use this phone again. I would like some help to get this phone up-to-date again.
1. Is there a way to turn this phone to the latest stock configuration? I will follow the forum to unlock, s-off, root again. But I wanted to turn it back to stock completely with latest firmware and all.
2. what are the latest version of radio, kernel, stock rom version and so on? how can I get them?
3. Any instruction would help.
My questions may sound very noob, but I hope someone can point me to the right way.

All I pretty much did was fastboot oem lock.
then try to connect to computer and run RUU. (I was told this is the way to restore the phone back to stock completely).
now all i can do is boot into bootloader. can't go in recovery can't boot into system.
I am looking for some to restore this phone completely to stock. (I don't need unlock or root).
I am only looking to make this phone an test phone for an new app that we are developing.
thank you

He told you how to get to stock here. I don't see relocking in there anywhere so why would you relock? You can relock the phone after s-off and ruu. This phone will brick if you have supercid and ruu or update to 3.18 so returning completely stock is difficult to say the least.
