What do you mean by "any Tmobile thing"?
If you're saying you want to get as far away from the stock build as possible with all of the bloatware, then I suggest CyanogenMod 7.2. This will give you a nice, clean ROM without any carrier bloat.

If you flash it you will now have a nice tablet with no data of any kind, no longer a phone.

[Q] Plain G2x AOSP rom?????

Hi, I am getting my G2x next Friday and of coarse, gonna be rooting it as soon as I have it. But I want a plain 2.3.3 OTA rooted rom. No fancy names, EagleBlood, WeaponX and so on.. where or which one can I get? That has everything stock so I can remove and play with. Thank you.
Try the xboarder pretty much stock and debloated

Use this. It's the best stock ROM we have. Super quick, super awesome. Debloated and tweaked for performance.
is this the official ota, or just a leak before ota happend? latest but rooted? just want to get my answers before my phone gets here and because i dont like all that much tweaking of a rom or adding stuff to it just like i noticed with the xboarder link he added that host file adblock, can that just be uninstalled and be back to normal?

or you can try faux's rom and kernel it works well.

There is no adblock. It's an optional add on. It is the official OTA. He just slimmed it down and made it faster. No UI tweaks, or graphical tweaks of any kind
Yeah I was using xboarders tweeked version and it was great Super stable and great battery life no real issues. The completly stock one is good to but the tweek is better. It was my favorite till I installed eaglesblood 1.0.8 that is the best ROM ever made great everything it has a few issues but they are not specific to that ROM no one has figured out A2DP yet to my knowledge. I'm sure they will soon though. I think everyone should use eaglesblood.
Here. This is the OTA 2.3.3 update. It is rooted but that's pretty much it. Still has all the T-Mobile blaotware, etc. Flash it via clockworkmod recovery.

Yea this is the same as the OTA from July/August, its just already rooted. Its not the leaked version from back in April or May or whenever that was. Right now this is the easiest (maybe the only?) way to have rooted 2.3.3 stock rom. You have to use nvflash (check development section for easy-to-use nvflash tool) to flash clockworkmod recovery and then you can boot into recovery and flash this zip.
And note that this zip will not touch your baseband.
Here's a link to the nvflash recovery flasher

perfect, everything i am gonna need.. thank you again

Check about phone in the settings when you get it, if your baseband is the march one then you need to run the lg update tool to get the new one.
No other way to get it, and it's a huge improvement.

If you flash a rooted room via clockwork it'll be fine. The official update can't be rooted but nothing can stop you from installing a completely new, rooted rom.

If he's getting it new Friday won't it already have the latest baseband anyway?

What do I need to change?

I sold my wife's evo shift on Craig's list and need to deliver it tomorrow. What do I need to change so the phone can be updated? Do I need to 100% unroot it, or just a change the rom back to factory? He likes that its rooted but its his first rooted phone.
Thanks

No you do not have to Unroot the phone. Just flash a new Rom on the device, any STABLE Rom will do. If the SD Card is going with the device your going to have to Reformat the SD Card. That way you don't accidently give away private information. That's it .

I'm prett sure you have to be on a sense based rom for sprint to be able to activate...

What Rom is most stable is a matter of opinion. I'm a Sense Guy so I'm going to suggest MikShifted G v2.0. Definately not stock, but close to it. With a ton of extras, Stable and Fast. You can try x99's GB Rom, very close to Stock Sense. Supreme Sense v9.1 which is full of Eye Candy, Stable, and Quick. If you want the latest Sense release for the Shift that is dead stock, only Rooted. I believe sparksco has one.

Check the phone info in setting you might already have the rom and radio installed when you rooted it.
If you want something that looks stock but is optimized under the hood, check out rum runner.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
There is no best rom as each rom runs differently on each device. I would be careful before you do something that voids the warrenty on a phone that is not yours.

P990 =/= P999 so don't try any P990 ROMs

LG has updated the software as of a few days ago. The newest version is LG-P999-V21y and is gingerbread 2.3.4. To update the baseband and all that jazz I believe you have to update it through LG's update software on their website. If you want to do that you would have to install one of the stock roms on the link in my last post, and then go through the LG updater (don't remember what they call it). Hope this helps
---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:22 PM ----------
and if you don't care about the updated baseband there is a already rooted version of it in the G2x android development section
ok, so then , is there a way to have a stock fw without TMO bloatware?
I know that P999 is P990 with radio to work with TMO AWS network and so on, but is that mean there not "generic" FW?
just compare CDMA "fake" Galaxy Nexus and GSM with yakju rom,
is there something like that for G2X? or it's like that VZW "fake" nexus?

I don't think there is a stock one without the TMO bloatware. You could just root and then use titanium backup to uninstall the bloat. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I'll read through the dev section to see if there are any "stock" or close to stock roms.

ignore the p990, as far as you need to know, it is a COMPLETELY different phone. unless you are a developer, you should NEVER use ANYTHING thats made for the p990 on a p999.
the p999 is the t-mobile g2x, the p999 is the phone that you have.
>>if you want a de-bloated version of the stock rom, search the development section.
>>if you want the complete stock rom, search the development section.
>>if you dont know what you want, just read the stickies in the general section.
what I mean is, that P999 has suffixes after the name, like DW, and etc,
what the difference between them?

[Q] New phone... To me. suggestions?

I currently own a droidx on verizon but I'm tired of the monthly $110 so I am switching to t mobile $30 prepaid. I just ordered a unlocked lg g2x running android 2.2 from ebay. It appears to be an amazing phone. I have experience in rooting the droid x installing roms etc. but lg is newish to me.
I assume first I should root the phone then install a boot loader and do a backup.
But after I'm a little hazy about. Do I update it then root it again or is there a one click program that will update and install root from my current version?
I assume tethering works in the same manner. And I can't find anything new about throttle override for t mobile. Does one exist? I mean I typically use 6gb every month now.
Thanks for your help and guidance
Mike
Boot loader is already unlocked. No need to root. Simply install cwm via nvflash. Download the rom you want to use. And install it via cwm. All the info you need is in the dev section.

Tethering works fine for me on stock or rooted. No known way to over ride throttle right now. The sim is the standard sized sim it's NOT a micro sim.

I got my phone in this week, it actually shipped with:
version 2.3.3
baseband m6600a-scautnz-2.0.9720t 1[jul 15 2011 10:00:00] mp:trulge_08.09.02r_mdm
kernal 2.6.32.9
software lg-p999-v21e
build gri40
I plan on using the phone on he $30 dollar plan because I plan on travelling and swapping sim cards when I visit my friend in japan among other places. The phone is unlocked and works with a AT&T card I hope it works outside the country too.
This lg is alot different than my droidx and an lg optimus I worked on. between what you told me and what the Guide told me, think I understand. I havent put anything on the phone yet, been waiting for my sim card
Question though, is there a reason to update the baseband? and when/if I do will it interfer with forgien sims?
LG G2X is a "stock android" it doesn't have a overlay or different UI on it... but does have a butt load of LG (poopy) coding, which is why root and a different rom is so good.
there is no reason to change base-band, IMO, from the one you are on. I had the latest base-band (Mar '12) and it has a little pllus to it like the GPS was a tad bit faster, but it had more downfalls, you cant have any other custom rom on it besides the one Kwes is working on and that won't cut it for my personal flavor as it doesn't get the kind of battery life CM7 base roms will get FOR ME.
base-band should not make a difference when it comes to changing sim cards and traveling.
