[Q] Delete ad files from a .apk? - General Questions and Answers

Sorry if this was asked before. I did a search and nothing showed up.
I was wondering if there was anyway to remove ads from a .apk file.
Like a link it opens to or something to show the little banner ads in an app.
How the app connects to the makers server and the server shows the ad?
I'm not sure how to explain it.
But the banner ads you see at the top and bottom of an app. There must be a way to delete the ads from the app right? Or delete a link to connect to the server maybe?
If there is a way, Please let me know.
Thanks.

Try using AdAway. Works pretty well for me

[APP] IM Beejive Beta

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but since it's a direct link from beejive.com, I think it should be? I'm not actually in the beta.

If not, can a mod please delete the thread? Thanks
I might give it a try. I don't IM much these days but it's still nice to have a good client there for when you need it..
ATM i'm using the official msn messenger for android (without ads mod).
Do msn have official apps on android? What the name of the app?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
It's called MSN Droid.
Edit: Actually I'm not too sure if that's the official app, sorry.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
still in beta and the UI is pretty good.
yet the function is rather poor.
No it's not msn droid.
It's official msn, but developed by PICA (chinese company http://www.pica.com/)
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/messenger_cbpe.html
I'm don't think it's available in english market, so heres a link to the apk (it is a free app, not warez) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BALZ1U08
It is modified to remove ads (the official one has ads >_<)

Need to hide app icon in notification bar, its truly annoying.
needs work but pretty good so far...will be paying for it once it becomes available...
Nice
Seems to work pretty good. I like the ease. It does appear to be on all the time though but I've not seen a significant battery drop to warrant removing it. Really wish they would have opened the beta up for more people, I hated just downloading it but not being able to participate in bug posting.
Actually you can participate, Maybe not bugs, but fatal errors that cause the app to crash you can send email logs of when the app crashed directly to them. After the app has a force close it will ask you if you want to send the log when the app crashed to them by e-mail.

You have to rename the file to change it to .apk file. (at the moment it's named BejiveIM.apk.zip)
If you have file extensions hidden then unhide them and remove the .zip and save.
I was getting a "Timedout" and then "no client key" yesterday but the app started to work again late last night. I'm not too sure I like the size of the icon like others have said, but I do like its the most stable out of the clients I've tried without draining my battery.... much.
Palringo is way better

Agree! Reason I uninstalled after a few hours. Besides that the app icon seems larger than any of the others I have. But not being able to disable the icon in the notification bar is extremely annoying!!

Hi, Thanks for posting this. I used to use it on my Berry all the time . . . I installed it from your link & imo it's the best IM client out there so far & still Beta lol! The feature that lets you email the conversation or post to twitter is sic ;-)
I'll definitely be buying this app soon as it's out officially.
yeah this app isnt bad at all, it seems close to trillian it will come down to 5 things...
-features
-batterylife
-speed/lag between IMs
-reliable connection
-price (seems like trillian will be free)

Web Attacks from Advertisers?

No sooner did I open the Inspire 4G page on my PC when Norton 360 notifies me that I'm getting a "web attack" from "www.zarbellot.com/6545S5/53Z355" (212.95.55.179, 80)
The first alert was named "Web Attack: Exploit Kit Variant Activity"
The second alert was named "Web Attack: Malicious Toolkit Webside 8"
Get rid of Norton. Problem solved.
Honestly though, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I have Norton as well, and NEVER that kind of message. Looks like ur system is already infected, and is peeking out when u access this page.
By the way, I am not sure there are ads on this site in the first place. I don't remember ever seeing one. And I don't see any cross site scripting either.
@rotchcrocket04: OOPS about that thanks.
Edit:
All the hosts I see on the HTC Inspire 4G page are:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/
http://media.xda-developers.com/
If anything, OP should run Malwarebytes.
OP: follow my link below, download it, UPDATE it, run Full Scan. Should take around or over an hour. Delete anything it may find. Let us know what happens.

Just browsing through the page, I see non-xda-developer.com links including: netshelter.net, pdadb.net, altitudedigitalpartners.com, liftdna.com, googleservices.com

As expected, nothing found in 367397 objects except for a single "false positive" in HKCU for start_showhelp.
The "attack" was external, not from anything on this PC. It's a corporate computer, so it isn't used to view any "questionable" web content.

Plenty of ads from our favorites: zedo.com, doubleclick.net, atdmt.com, etc. (visible with IE, FF, and chrome)
The most insidious ones are sitting between thread replies, and they disable the mouse-wheel scroll function when you mouse-over the ad.

A lot of them are "flash" based (the animated ones), so if you don't have flash on your PC, that's probably why you can't see em. I've got Firefox on this PC, but that still shows ads.
Maybe you're running an iPad, ha ha ha.

Nah, not that smart too. But well, same at home too. No ads. These three are standard addons I install on all my systems.
IE 9/Win 7/Norton Security and never see these notices. I check my security log and no issues there as well.

i dont know the app you mentioned, but im guessing if you go into the system app folder, you probably would be able to see it there, and delete it.
EDIT: i looked into ispyoo a bit, try dialling

Thank you very much for reply. ))
But the app isnt showing in system folder too. That number is not working either. you can see how they trickfully said on that website "(Once iSpyoo is installed you will find a new icon on your phone. Or to make dial #4779* to open iSpyoo.)"
They dont want users to remove it easily.
But we know its there, because he got email confirmation of ispyoo is activated. And whatsapp conversation word files are being created automatically..

well its an app, so it definitely has to be somewhere. you can try /device>data>app, thats where user apps are, it might be there. failing that, i would download es file explorer and go the topmost folder, that contains all other folders, and search for all apk files, it probably will find it. if it dosent, search again with ispyoo as the saerch keyword, if tthat still hasnt found it use recovery to totally wipe the entire device.
or just ask the person who put it on to remove it.

Hallo
They have option to login to the website with usersname and password, and then go to uninstall option. It gets uninstalled from there to your phone.
We cornered the guy!!, and then he(scared) removed it using the users name and password he signed up for it. (A legendary old method for app solution!)
It even had option to disallow certain apps, or stop apps in the target phone. Do you believe? Now all good.
Thank you for your concern and help )

Hello bro, were you able to remove it from iphone? I had no idea... may be you reset the iphone? I hope something worked for you.
so, question still remains, how do you check the program is installed or not if it is hidden?
To check if the app is installed or not (while its hidden) you should have root access in your phone. Open the root directory and system folder and search for the installed apps. In this folder you will see all the installed apps on your phone wether they are hidden or visible.
Btw these days not only the syping apps are spying on users but even the utility or gaming apps spy on users via microphone or taking screenshots of device display to collect data and show revelent ads to them.

Remove ads completely

Hello! Sorry to bother you again, but I have a question about ads/publicity in the device.
A month or two ago I had oxigen 11, everything was working just fine, no ads, no problem at all.
But I made the mistake of update to 12. I didn't like it and then I downgrade to oxigen 11 again, only this time the phone has ads everywhere, on YouTube, redit, even the music player or the appstore.
Is there a way to remove ads? Using another rom or system? I know I can't remove ads from some apps, but is there a ad blocker on the phone or something like that?
For YouTube I was using vanced but they abandoned the project
I hope you can give me some advice about this!
Sorry if this post doesn't belong here, or if it's wrong to ask about this, but I don't know where to ask haha
Thanks again!

I like DNS66 - it's easy to set up and works well. You can get it from https://github.com/julian-klode/dns66/releases
There used to be an XDA thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-5-0-dns66-open-source-host-ad-blocker-without-root.3487497) but it seems to not be there anymore.

About vanced, yeah I downloaded an apk but it had ads too, I think it has something to do with my rom (even if its official) because before my first update to os12 I had os11 without any ads, or very few. Now when I use reddit, or 9gag app I get flooded by ads.
Do you know where can I find a Vanced apk that works? I would really appreciate that!
