what is the filesize of your mkv files? Are they exceeding the 4gb fat32 limit?

If its the error saying your device does not support the file type, just ignore the warning and copy it anyway. It works.

No we can't, because the encryption happens without activate the switch.
I haven't got any solution till now. I tried many way (under windows: I tried to format and to destroy the partition, but it's impossible. Under Linux, I tried to format it but I had the same result! ). It's impossible to do something.
For your information: You can only copy your data by using ActivSyn in condition that you never changed the ROM under which the encryption was happened.
Did you try with a digital photo camera ???

I have seen in other Forum a guy who has the same problem resolve it by using Paragon Partition Manager. But the price of this application is 40$
I try Paragon Partition Manager 8.5 but I cannot delete the partition nor format the existing partition.
For information, I have this problem after flashing my Blackstone's ROM without removing the SDCard !!! and now it is in read only !!!

Does your card was encrypted? I ask you the question, because in my case, I can't format-it using camera.

I confirm that you can't delete and/or format partition. But you can recover your encrypted data with "Paragon Partition Manager Professional 8.5".

Is the file size over 4 GB?
Sometimes huge files being moved to the tablet will freeze and quit.
No it is only 700MB
And also I moved it from my downloads to my sdcard and it was fine
What is the space remaining on your internal memory?
Is it more than 3 GB?
Sounds like the Asus slow I\O bug raising it's ugly head...not sure about this however.
Are you on Jelly Bean?
Yes I have almost 20G left in my internal storage and I am on liquidsmooth JB rom

I wonder if booting to recovery then restarting system would help.
Not sure about Liquid Smooth, I don't think that would cause the slow down.

What do you mean with 'root folder' (for me, that is '/', and moving something there makes no sense), and how did you try to move the file, and from where?
Yes im trying to move it to '/' and I'm just moving it from my sdcard. I've tried using ES browser, root browser lite, and ROM toolbox's root browser and none work

OK, you should know this:
- The root filesystem is a ramdisk. That means, after shutting down, its contents are lost.
- The root filesystem is usually read-only, which is a good idea.
- Every file in there occupies RAM. If you copy 700 MB there, you have almost no memory left to run programs.
- If you fill up the ramdisk too much, the device will simply reboot.
So, in a nutshell, I think you don't want to do this.

as _that stated the theory, I think you probably missed read something, there is no reason you need to do this, I believe what you want is to move that 700mb file to /sdcard. Just curiousity, what is the 700mb file and why you need to copy it there?
I'm guessing you want the file on the root of your SD...
hello, ive been doing some searching but havent been able to figure out how to change the permissions of a file thats in /sdcard on 4.4.2.

I don't think you can.
You can't if it's on sd card as it doesn't need permissions. Move it to system and you can

I wanted to make a file read only, but i guess it cant be done. Thanks for the replies
just to inform anyone that may be searching for this as well, the reason it cant be done is a limitation of FAT32 which doesnt allow file permissions.

Couple of things...
1) Your /sdcard is not formatted in FAT32
2) The limitation is that Android is designed specifically to not allow you to change /sdcard permissions. /sdcard is mounted at boot with a specific set of permissions which are what the system wishes to maintain at all times, for all files.
hi all,
i have a problem with my galaxy s4 mini, yesterday i copied a movie from my pc to my phone, it was 1.2 gig big and after i copied it there was no movie to be found in the folder where i put it in.
i got a message that my memory was full, so im missing 1.2 gig of my internal memory, how can i fix this?
probebly it will be solved by going back to factory setting but thats a last resort for me, im hoping sombody knows a solution whitout a hard reset.
Silly suggestion, but have you rebooted the phone? Sometimes the file indexers crash (or get disabled) and the files are there but won't show up.
Also, tried another file manager?

You can, if you format your phone
If you copied the file via MTP from your computer, it sometimes fails to refresh the media index.
Try to look at the copy destination with an app from your phone, i.e. a file explorer that does not hide hidden or temp files. It possible that the file is there and you can manually delete it.
