Ok, so I have a Nexus S, not 4G just the I9020A.
Up until now I kept stock Android on it, and the most creative I got was using ADW launcher EX.
After seeing ICS and waiting SO long, I just had to have it, I can't wait on Google anymore.
Anyways, I have a few burning questions
1. I'm running Cyanogenmod 9 downloaded from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356228, is this the LATEST version? I know it's called alpha 11 but I keep reading Alpha 13, can't find it to download though, so confusing.
2. Wifi isn't supported yet, right? It's not just my phone?
3. USB transfer is so sporadic, is this normal?
4. The Market barely works. I managed to download the Twitter app, and that's it, from other videos I saw, ICS automatically re-installed all their previously downloaded apps, no such thing happened for me.
5 - most important question of all - With all of this rooting, flashing, custom ROM's etc, when the OFFICIAL Ice Cream Sandwich for the Nexus S gets released by Google, will I still be able to download that and install it over the air like previous updates? (When I had stock gingerbread it just notified me and bippity boppity boo)
Or will I have to do something else?
I really love ICS but the ROM still feels just sort of like something to hold me over to the official update.
Thank you in advance!
Custom ics roms arnt ready for primetime just yet boss. Ive had the most stability with drew garens ics builds. He makes awesome roms. Id link his site but its prolly against the rules here so to get to the site just type in his namedotcom

1,2,3,4.. alpha11 is the older version of cm9, thats why your having those issues. the more recent cm9 is much better. alpha13 is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20220591&postcount=2236
also, there are cm9 "kangs" these get compiled on a daily basis, so contain the most current cm9 code. cm9 kangs are the same as cm9 but compiled by someone else, whose not part of the cm team, but do get compiled from the same cm9 source. sometimes they contain cherries, extras that are waiting to get approved for cm. you can get them here, the latest is always on top, and the cherries are listed to the right. the latest one is just cm9 without cherries http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/skankwich/crespo/ and there is a thread supporting kangs here at xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369146
Hi, so I'm looking for a rom that is Sense-free, allows blutooth to work with Sixaxis controller, allows Wifi-Hotspots, and doesn't have any audio routing issues. I currently run CyanogenMod 9 but I'm growing more and more annoyed of the Audio routing problems. Is there anything out there that will truly satisfy my needs? I'm starting to wonder.
Roms I've tried:
Virtuous Quatro and Inquisition. Both did not work because they had Sense hidden in their roms.
ARHD 6.6.7: Did not work because it was already a sense rom (This was my first rom)
CyanogenMod 9: Works with the things stated above, but I'm growing annoyed of the audio routing issues.
So is there a rom out there for me? Or will I just have to wait until a more stable CM9 to come out? Let me know, thanks.
jDrOid's ROMs
Try JDroid Exodized ROM (Without Sense) its an AOSP ROM, wish i can post links,
download it from this site: hox . jdr0id . com
Hope that helps.

That's Sense based
All proper AOSP roms are CM9 based atm, so will have the audio routing problems unfortunately
I've been looking up CM 7 Rom, I found one that looks good. SuperSensation. Do I need to do anything special to flash it on?
I dont really know about you guys, but i am running OpenSensation for like 2 weeks, and never had audio routing problems. But, instead, the battery drains like hell.

Cm7 is Android 2.3 and is dated. I think you'll need to be on a specific firmware to use it, in not sure which
I'd rather have a fully working rom than buggy or broken. Can someone let me know what firmware are you need to run? I have the latest and need to know if I need downgrade.
Have you tried going to any apps that require a microphone? And heavily draining battery is very bad I use this phone all day..

you need to be s-off'ed and downgrade the firmware to hboot 1.17 because cm7 is a GB ROM. Grab the 1.17 firmware here and follow the instructions to flash it here but using the hboot 1.17 file instead

I agree with you, but i'm already trying this ROM on my HOX i haven't faced any issue till now with audio routing. lets just pray nothing goes wrong agai; i had to install this ROM after all the issues i was having with HTC sense.
Finally. Someone who is more concerned with helping than making sure I have a "up to date" rom. Thanks.
I don't know if this is a general problem or just me but every time I change the build.prop codes then flash wallet,I reboot back up and the NFC options are gone. Im using the latest cm10 on Verizon's s3. I had wallet working on bean stock rom before this as well. Is there a different method for cm10 or is it just not available yet?

Which CM10 build are you using? It's my understanding that on the current build of the official CM10 NFC is not yet supported. This could be the case on the unofficial ones as well but I'm not sure.

A nightly unofficial one released last night. 3.0.39
The only thing that is different about getting GW working on CM10 is you don't need to flash anything (except Google Wallet if you are using the .zip provided by ogdobber) and editing the build prop. NFC is currently broken on the newer CM (and all others based off of CM code) for the time being but I would imagine it would be fixed after the main bugs are all squared away.
The last unofficial build I that had NFC working was InvisibleK's 8/13 but that was before the recent MMS or RIL fixes.

if you took the time to read the notes on the release, you would see that it is not supported yet.
Since you did not, now you will likely have a ton of people telling you to read next time.
NFC DOESNT WORK. THEREFORE NOTHING THAT RELIES ON IT WORKS.
Its a piece of hardware, that does not FUNCTION yet.
did you also figure out that NFC doesn't work on any CM10 build yet so it doesn't matter what you flash?
Not to thread jack... but...
It's been quite a few days without any action on this thread and NFC is one thing I'd really like to try out. With that said I love CM10, currently running the 8-27 nightly without any other issues and love it... NFC isn't that important that I'd go back to a TW/Stock Rom for it.
Any word from the CM guys on when/if the rils and NFC functionality will be fixed up? Patiently waiting and love everyone working on CM10 D2VZW! :good:
Flashed the 8-31 nightly and NFC just greys out after ticking the box still. Wake me up when September comes
Sent from my R00T3D/UNL0CK3D SGS3 running CM10 nightlies
I was reading in the official CM10 thread that someone had developed a fix and that it would soon be implemented into the Nightlies

So I'm trying to prolong the use of this tablet but keep it stable and quick, and I think CyanogenMod is the way to go. There are a number of versions available for it, with 10.0 being the last stable build that I can find. I flashed 10.0 and it was quick and stable, except for one major problem: the Google+ app just would not load no matter what, and by searching I found others had the same issues with no fix.
So I'm back to stock 4.1.2 JB now, which is fine but I'd rather move to CM if I can. I flashed the latest nightly, but was having major issues with Gapps closing and the Play Store wasn't even available (even though I flashed the correct Gapps package).
For those that are using CM, which version is the best to use? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Honestly, I use the CM11 builds and they are working great.

CM10.1 (based on 4.2.x) really great. I used it for the past few months.
Never give me problem. Of course you must install 2/20/13 JB Unified GApps.
Looking forward to try CM11 but having hard time with TWRP (big part) at the moment.

Another vote for CM11, but you do have to install BigPart. That isn't a big deal if you read carefully through the resource thread before proceeding. I'm certainly not a tech wizard (color TV and phones without dials were big deals when I was a kid, VCRs didn't come out until I was in college, and I was in my mid twenties when home computers just started to become widespread) and was able to run BigPart without trouble.
I got BigPart working successfully with no problems on the first go. Merely requires some reading and should work fine.
Break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat ROM!
Can we start a list of sorts with Roms that work with the new bootloader?? so far i read that Dhacker29 has a few test builds of cm11 . i have one installed right now and it has some bugs but works and is faster than my hd has ever been . i can run this game i like and before it couldnt play without lagging now it runs crazy fast . anyway thank you Dhacker29 for the recovery and rom. i was reading another site and someone mentioned another dev that had a test build out for the new recovery but i cant for the life of me find or remember who it was. also how can i tell if a rom will work without trying to install it. i read that the kernel had to be 3.5 and newer or some shshhsh. anyway thanks in advance to anyone that responds
I second this. Was actually thinking of suggesting the same thing. Might help keep people from flashing the JB kernel Roms and asking what they did wrong. Least maybe a bit more.

almost forgot
heres a link to Dhackers Test rom that im using . it has a few minor bugs but all the hardware works soo

here's the whole directory with all his builds and where I think he adds them
I believe there is a PACMan Alpha out as well. Has the same bugs as CM11

Any stable builds? Maybe some that use stock and then tweak it out.
i think you can install the stock files and then root and use a root app manager to remove all the bloatware from your phone. there is even a thread that tells you all the apps you can get rid of without jacking anything up. here you can check it out

after root you can download xposed installer and then download one of the customizing modules and you can then change your icons in the status bar. nav bar, even alter the way your toast messages come in . anything you can think change the color of your wifi and 4g icons or change them to something entirely diff . here check that out too . you probably already know all this already but just in case.

This is what I did. I was already running stock KK before rooting/unlocking. Still running it now but I removed a lot of crap. I'm looking forward to at least a few stable ROMs to try out on this phone, but I'm cool with this for now.

Gummy rom tested on my xt925. Stuck at unlocked bootloader sign. I don't think xt925 is supported yet.
Yeah I don't know if any have xt925 support or not. Hopefully they will include them eventually.
Gummy Rom
I recently tried Gummy Rom for 3.4 kernel. It was pretty good, but had trouble with bluetooth freezing the phone and wifi dropout at times. It has great progress, and appreciate those who are working on it. :good:
I have installed dhacker's 4.4 cm build from 24/6. Happy to report that it boots - and so far, at least - works great. This is on an xt925! It's the first 4.4 bootloader rom other than moto that I have got to actually boot up on this phone.
I installed gummy and have been using the auto updater running nightlies right now I'm running 6-24 build . it seems like the the previous ver. had fixed the screen dimming issue but it seemed to come back on this ver. but rarely happens I haven't tied Bluetooth yet and the popping/static sound issue is still there but other than that I like the rom . thanks for

In droidrzr forums there is an Unofficial Omni Rom for kitkat bootloader..
btw, for xt925, dhacker says that we only need the new bootloader (maybe installing the leaked soak test from France we can use the newest roms)
