[Q] Problems with wi-fi after update to 3.33.401.6 - HTC Sensation

Hello, i have a HTC sensation with ICS 4.0.3 and Sense 3.6,
the problem appear after the phone update to a new version of software,
the new version is: 3.33.401.6.
The wi-fi is not working, i mean if connects to the router, i have ping from router but when i try to connect from phone on the internet is not working, i have try to restart the connection, restart the router, setup again the wi-fi settings, but still not working, if i use 3G connection, the internet is working fine.
anyone has this problem?

LE. i have try to connect on local network and is working, to my guess is that is something related with the DNS setting and network. anyone?

I have the same problem

i have talk with the technical support for HTC, and he said to me, that a fix is in deep state of working and soon an update will be available, but i don't know when.
Also i ask if exist any update for sensation and Android 4.1 and the answer was that is already been start to update on some phones, because 4.1 is available for htc sensation. Depends only when this will arrive to me
if you have any news about that, please tell me

Then the guy you spoke to was either lying or confused with ICS 4.0.3 (HTC sent an email to one user claiming Jelly Bean is Android 5.0 when is actually 4.1)

Because Jelly Bean has only just been released and not even htc's flagship phones (the one series) have recieved it yet

Same here :-(
Hi!
Same problem here. I had to intall the RUU 3.32.401.5_R to have wifi working.
I hope they solve it as soon as possible.

can you tell me how you done this? i am now in this Android stuff, and i don't really know

Hi!
Well because you are going to flash and older version of the software you need your phone S-off or unlocked, if not it will not let you downgrade.
If your device is S-off it's quite easy, only turn the phone on, plug it in charge mode to the PC, execute the exe RUU file and it's done in 10 mins. You don't need nothing more.
Good luck

Mine is no problem
Hey folks
Mine has no problem with Wi-Fi network. Did you guys try other APs as well? My AP is BUFFALO (WCR-GN), maybe it's caused by AP?

If you are using a fixed IP-address, try DHCP instead. This solved my problem untill HTC releases a fix.

thx, is working like this, strange bug,
the only thing now remains to see when HTC released a new fix, i guess meaby in a few months, the developer rate is very slow, this is my opinion

Thanks!

Eureka! Wow! This was a breath of fresh air! After being afflicted by the "benefits" of this upgrade for like 3 days, pulling my hair out, I stumble across the solution!
Thanks for posting this! Hopefully they fix this soon.
:good:

Hi
How can I revert to a previous version since I cannot use DHCP since it does not connect to my Belkin router.
Thanks

[Q] HTC ChaCha - WiFi Failure

Hi, I have found a problem with the HTC ChaCha when connecting to 'Public HotSpots/Unsecured Wireless Points'. If you switch or disconnect from one to another 'Public HotSpots/Unsecured Wireless Points'. The ChaCha will automatically Turn Off Wi-Fi and attempt to either restart it or do nothing at all. Pretty weird for a phone aimed at the general public?
But then again - all about the stock ROMS, can not wait for a decent update for some real ROM making. The current ones don't have any major differences to the STOCK really.
Anyone think if 2.3.4 for ChaCha will come?
is ur problem still remains or did u solve it ?
WiFi is pretty poor in this phone, in my house it loses connection way before any other WiFi device.
try 2.3.5?

Got the OTA as well today, but I don't really notice any difference.
It just patches some applications/lib/framework files.
No new hboot or radio though.
Then I won't hurry up and wait
Its for sense 3.0 with android 2.3.5 update or some update before it?

Updated, not noticed any significant improvements. Will check later.
Exchange inbox refresh
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know...
got the update too yesterday, and it brought a big improvement for me!
Now Exchange Inbox refresh works again...
before the patch it wouldn't sync read/unread and flag states of e-mails between inboxes on my phone and PC. It also kept piling up items in the phone inbox although i've moved them away on exchange.
Other than that I didn't notice any differences. Also the power button bug remains, though that is circumventable by activating the credential store.
cheers
After several hours, I can confirm that I received 3GB Dropbox bonus space, courtesy of HTC. Nice move indeed!
Just instaled update. Kinda no changes only live wallpers don lag no more with sense 3.0. Email works fine dunno about other things. Ty for let me notice update becouse i dont check them.

Does anyone know how does this compares to 2.13.206.1?
Is the 2.10.401.8 older, newer, or just form a different carrier or country?

2.10.401.8 is the version of the European unbranded devices.
I suppose that 2.13.206.1 is the same for other region or brand. O2 comes in mind
Example:
Europe: 1.28.401.1 -> 1.47.401.4 -> 2.10.401.5 -> 2.10.401.8
O2 branded: 1.31.206.1 -> 2.13.206.1

HTC is very slow I have stopped checking from 2 days. I even spoke to customer care they have no idea about it.
I've got ICS here in Qatar on my Sensation XE.
I've also run itno a bug where all Wireless enwtorks disappear within 5 seconds of enabling WiFi, meaning I'm very, very unhappy with the update. It seems to be a common issue with ICS roms, and the bug appears to be in the official release.
Hoping HTC solve the issue within a week, otherwise I'll consider rooting my phoen and applying the fixes which are detailed on this site.

Umm I have an XE and I'm currently in Qatar. I purchased this one in the Philippines.
I don't run stock (VI 4.0.1) but I also experienced this problem when I came here and it's really annoying. We're running the Qtel supplied WiFi Modem (Thomson). The thing was I didn't use it much since the wifi is screwing up and I was just staying home for a few days so I just let it discharge to empty.
I fully recharged it and then it automagically reconnected to the wifi. Weird I know but it's worth a shot
I've talked to HTC agent here in Dubai last night and he said "it will be available within this month". And I asked if it's this month March or next month April as it is almost midnight - he replied within April. Wow HTC in Middle East is kinda slow releasing this update, many have received the update already even unbranded ones got updates all over the globe. BTW i have normal sensation.
Now after hearing to everyone I feel that its better not to have the update if it has the bug which switches off the WIFI. I think Bahrain should also get within a day or two if it is ready for Qatar

I'd warn those who don't have a locally purchased Sensation against installing ICS as released in the OTA upgrade - as per the problem a number of us have, detailed above and in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24390705&posted=1#post24390705 thread.
While I suggest we confine discussion of the bug to that thread, it may be possible to revert to gingerbread if your phones CID has an available RUU which you can execute against. I also have a suspicion (or hope?) HTC have delayed the release of ICS OTA in the Middle East because the issue seems to be based on some sort of SIM related data.

Try going into Settings- Apps- All. Scroll down until you see Google services framework. Force stop, clear data. Then reboot your phone. Make sure fast boot is unchecked so it does a real restart. After that try the update button... If it works post back.

I did the same thing.
To fix it I backed everything up and did a factory reset. it then gave me the option for the ICS update after this.
it may not be the only answer but it works.
