[Q] Google Play Store aps not Auto Updating? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

When I first got the phone , when an App had an update on the Store, my HOX would auto update within 24 hours. No problem.
About 10 days ago I did a hard reset. Everything went well and I've verified all settings.
However in the past ten days - no auto updates, as the list of updated apps grows.
I've verified al settings, cleared Play Store cache, cleared Play Store data,
Nothing seems to make a diff. Same holds true whether I am on Mobile or Wifi.
Anyone else's HOX not auto updating?
Suggestions?

Mine has been working fine, noticed it updating a couple apps yesterday. Are you on stock or a custom Rom? Maybe try a factory reset if stock, or a reflash if a custom Rom...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

The reason I did a factory reset ten days ago was to address this issue, no joy.
Phone is HT25 and otherwise in great condition.
Two things non standard, not sure if relevant,
I have Fast boot disabled in power settings.
I am using SmartSync Disabler by Jan from here at xda to keep my wifi alive for more than an hour at a time overnight.
No problems with my google account as my Motor Xoom tablet auto updates quite frequently.
Frankly its an irritation more than functional problem. I don't mind updating myself.
Its just that my last hone, HTC Inspire had the same problem for nearly a year. Only thing that fixed it was when I installed Google Play Store apk to get rid of Android Market.
So ya know, new phone here and bothersome to see an old problem hanging around from my last HTC phone.
I can always try a factory reset but that didn't help last go around.

Did you find a solution?
I'm having the same problem...

Here's a few things to try to fix it.
FYI, I run CM10, so my descriptions of how to get to some settings may be inaccurate, but you should be able to do all of these on your phone regardless.
Go to settings->data usage.
Hit menu and ensure that restrict background data is unchecked, and autosync data is checked
Remove your google account.
reboot
add your google account.
Clear data for both the play store and Google Services Framework
Reboot
Final option
Run an RUU to get yourself back to completely stock. See if apps start updating again.

If you are rooted, you can use Titanium Back-up Pro to change the auto update setting.

+1 - I've used Titanium in the past to restore marketplace links, works well. If you can't cough up for this marvellous utility there might be other apps for free that just do this one task. Good luck in any case! :good:

Old Android Market after stock 2.2 update

I just updated to the stock 2.2 and noticed the android market app is the old version. Anybody else have this issue? Is there anyway to update it?

Clear the app data in the manage applications menu. Should fix it.

Worked like a charm, thanks for the help!

I noticed that the first time I ran the market app after the Froyo install, it was loading a different interface. The next time I used it, it reverted to the old one again. I've tried deleting the app date, rebooting, etc, but it never has gone back to the new one.

It will give it time to update. I flashed last night to clear out a few things and the market was an older one and stayed that way for like 4 hours, Then it changed.
After the update, I had the ancient market. After I waited about 5 minutes and checked again, the new interface was installed, no need to clear any data. The ROM must have included the other one and out just needed to update like on the old ROM.

Hmmm. I just browsed the market for quite some time, and it never has switched over to the new layout.
You probably need exit the market first. Try exiting and then restart your phone after a little bit to see if it installs the update. Remember that it's a background update and may not happen immediately.

Would it matter if I was on wifi instead of Edge for this to occur?
I was on wifi, but it shouldn't matter.

I just did a factory reset on my phone in order to attempt to fix the Quick Office problem, the market update, and some other weird quirks. So far everything appears to be fixed except the market. The very first time I loaded it, it was the new interface. The next time it switched right back to the old one.
OK probably stupid, but when I saw people talking about new market I thought it was just the apps available, and since I could get flash, I thought I had it. Now I see folks mentioning different interface? What's supposed to be different on the interface ? I think I have the same one as I had on 2.1

What little I saw of it, the layout didn't have so much green color to it, and the top interface was different. I plan on trying to delete the app data for it today and try to get it to update once I go into town and get closer to a tower. Maybe it will finally download and update.
Anyone else still have the old market showing up? It's been several days now even after a factory reset, and even though my phone loaded the new interface on the first run, it went right back to the old and never has updated. I've cleared data and so on, but nothing works. Should I try the "Uninstall Update" button for the market app?

I had this problem...I was told to go to Applications->Manage Applications->All->Market and select "Clear Data". Then reboot phone. This should cause your "Market" to update after several minutes.
This worked for me.

Sorry I just read your post again and you stated that you already cleared data. I am not sure what to try. I cleared data rebooted left the phone alone for about twenty minutes then checked and the market updated.

[Q] Can't download/install any market apps

Today I received my new shiny Asus Transformer, everything works great except the Market itself...
I can't even download any apps, paid or free. When I try to download any apps, it start like trying to download, but there is no progress on notification bar and it just keep like that.
I reset the tablet several times, also, cleaned the cache of the Market and Framework services, shutdown (restart) several times... nothing
Is this happening to anyone? I searched this forum and performed the steps above, but still nothing...
Please, help
Have you look into My App area, you will see, not installed list of apps. I get that as well...I am not sure if it's a bug or intended. Sometimes, it would stay at download forever. I got to go out and go back into the Market and redo it all over.

Yes, sometimes the apps I am trying to download don't even appear there and sometimes it does. When it says "Installing" sometimes, 1 hour can pass and still nothing... no progress on the notification bar.
In fact, I can't install anything from there, not even using the website version, https://market.android.com/
I had/have this same issue I think its a bug in the market app. I've just flashed the new firmware and it seems to work OK now.
My solution was to press back over and over until I exited the market fully, then start a new instance of it. Works on and off.
Ill let you know if the update solves this issue.

Thanks for the info.
I tried that, still no luck I need to know if this is a widespread issue or not.
I have the EVO and tried to download apps and install them now without any problems.
Also, I have discovered that I can't log in into GTalk either, but I can browse without any issues.

Sounds like an odd issue with your account. Try to check settings, accounts an sync .. and see if anything is amiss. If not, then try to create a new gmail account, and use that to login to market/gtalk. See if there is some confusion as to your phone account and your tablet. Do you have settings>Privacy ticked off for google to back up your apps and sync them? Try disabling if so.
Had same issue and went into settings and had to delete my gmail account and then add it again, worked fine after that!
Thanks for the replies.
1. The Backup and Restore settings are turned off.
2. I have created another Google account and removed the original, still the same problem.
3. The EVO is currently off just in case.
After doing some research, I've discovered that Gtalk have something to do with the Market, if Gtalk can sign in, then the market should works for downloads. If not, then there is a problem.
ok... wtf
After adding a new Google account while replacing the original one, the issue still happened.
Then, I decided for a million times, to make another Factory Reset with my original account again... now GTalk logon and the Market download/install apps
I will keep this thread in mind and report if anything weird happens again.
Android Market hates me. I didn't really want to have to create another gmail account but I have tried every other trick posted and still can't get apps to download.
I had this same problem with my Samsung Fascinate. 3G would download fine but I couldn't get WiFi to work until just recently when I updated the radio that came with the OTA Froyo update plus a new custom rom/kernel. I'm not sure which piece all of the sudden made things work but I was certainly happy. What's so frustrating is that I set up a Droid on the same home network with absolutely no problems from day one.
Amazon App store works fine but many of the apps I want aren't available there. Grrr.

This occurred to me after rooting the TF. I was able to correct it by going into applications and force stop and clearing data on both Market and both google framework services. Then try to restart market, if you don't get a error go back to applications and do it again. Once you get the error reboot, when you try market after the reboot it will ask you to accept terms again and then all is was right again with the world.
I have the same problem. How I can do a Factory Reset?
It was working ok but now it gives an error with the server. Eventually it will download the aplication after trying several times but will fail in the instalation. I have deleted and created again my account with no results.
Welcome to my problem. Another member told me the issue lies with our google accounts and how it syncs up with the market.
I have tried the other methods deleting cache / signing in and out etc. to no avail.
Only solution is to factory reset. Sad thing is it has happened to me 3x in the past 5 days.
I only hope for a solution to this soon.
3 times, that is scary.
Something has surprised me when I upgraded my phone to the new Galaxy S 2 from HTC HD 2 running an Android rom. When I introduced the google account it automaticaly pointed me all the aplications that I had installed in the old phone (free or paid) and give me an easy option to install all quickly. They were identified as my aplications, even they were not installed.
Is this funtion present here? It will remember what aplications I had installed in the transformer before or I will need to look for all of them again?
solution to download apps
press on apps on the home screen. then press on market. this will get you started click on sign in at top right of screen. it should automatically do a sign in with your google account. then go from there

[Q] Apps don't restore to phone after bootloader unlock

Apps are not restoring from market after having unlocked bootloader (and phone got cleared).
I unlocked it yesterday and on a first run apps did get updated, and in fact I got the new market as well, which I hadn't had before.
I had to re-do the whole process (lock and unlock) because it hadn't worked correctly (syntax error in updater-script).
This time apps didn't update. I checked from my laptop and my market there did show all my apps (paid and free), although the one on my phone only showed the paid one.
Tried it again today and it still hasn't updated, even though I've let it sit for a few hours. Logged into my market today from laptop again and I only see one app on my account (the only one I've paid), but it might be because it is listed in the "My Orders" tab; there doesn't seem to be a "My installed apps" anymore. The free ones aren't listed any place I can find, although if I search for them individually they are tagged as Installed.
Is "Market" temporarily broken or is there something I can do?
If you've got titanium back-up try running market doctor (settings, more). It usually works for me.
The other option is to clear the data and cache for the market app.
The market can be a bit iffy at times but.the apps usually reappear eventually.

Still not updating...
I've reset the phone completely and have got it to sync with the couple of apps I'd added during today, but can't get back to the old ones I had.
I wonder if it's had something to do with having received the new Market yesterday at some point, but now being on the old one again after the phone reset.
Is there some way I can force the OTA Market update and see if that will sync me back?

Why is Google stalking me?

Since upgrading to lollipop I'd noticed a couple of small niggles with me Galaxy S5. As I've not had to rebuild my phone since purchasing it, I decided a factory reset wouldn't do any harm. Since resetting, Google play services keeps waking my GPS and searching for my location, this happens every few minutes unless I turn the GPS off. I've got all the usual Google stalking features turned off (Google now, location history, location reporting) but I've still got the same issue. I've even reset again and unticked the box to restore my user data... But still Google want to know where I am.
Any ideas how to resolve this one? It's a pain if I have to keep turning my GPS off when I'm not using it, especially when I had no issue prior to factory resetting.

It's more likely one or several of the myriad of apps/services on your phone. Do you have a weather app on your phone? Well, how's it going to know how the weather is, if it doesn't know where you are? Facebook by default wants to know where you are so when you post or send a message, it tells everybody where you are. Even apps like music streamers want to know where you are so they can tell you where you were when you heard something. Lots of apps that you wouldn't expect to use GPS in fact do. The vast majority of this data collection is completely innocuous and harmless, but you always have the option to disallow it. Or not use the app(s) as well; remember, it was you that granted the app GPS permissions when you installed it.

Thanks for your suggestion, I don't think it is another app though. Prior to resetting my phone the 2nd and 3rd time I uninstalled any suspect apps one by one to see which one was the culprit. In the end I just went through the entire apps list and uninstalled/disabled everything I could, it made the phone really unstable and practically unusable but still didn't stop Google Play Services using my GPS every few minutes.
Any other ideas?

how about "Android Device Manager " .. is that disabled?
There are a lot of guides about how to fix this. It isn't always the same service that is an issue...but you can try and disable some of the ones that are known to be problematic. For example see post #3 in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785128

Restoring Apps using Titanium Back Up

Since Android 6.0, I have used TB successfully several times to restore apps. For some reason today TB just hangs on restoration. The little symbol keeps spinning. Any suggestions?
Maybe someone can verify that they can restore missing apps to stock ROM using TB and what version of TB & SU they are using. I currently have TB 7.4.0 and SU 2.65.
I've had that problem from time to time. I'm using 7.40 also and I wrote the developer a couple of months ago about that problem. I never got an answer and forgot about it since it doesn't happen that often. I usually go into my apps and force stop TB to get out of it. By any chance it isn't an app on the SD is it? Eventually the app will restore if I play around with it.
Try restoring the app alone without the data then going back and restoring just the data.

Apps are on internal storage, backups are on external storage. Restoring app alone did not work. Reverted TB back to 7.3.0.2 and I can now restore deleted apps.
