I took my rogers sg2 lte i727R to a guy who I'm assuming flashed a telus radio. I had him do this that I can use it on WIND mobile and it works 100% on WIND. My question is can I upgrade to ics or even a custom rom without losing or disabling what he did.
model number
sgh i727r
android version
2.3.5
baseband version
T989DTLKJ3
kernel version
2.6.35.11
build number

I'm also wondering if there is a different radio or modem, whatever it may be that I can flash that would work a bit better than this one. Thanks guys.
I'm pretty sure the radio has to be I727RUXUMA7, since I'm with Fido (same as Rogers) and that's what my radio band is.

Hi all,
I got a Nexus S a few days ago. It was an original rogers phone that was working on ATT in the US for the last month.
The phone is rooted. But it is not working properly on Rogers (Apparently it worked fine on ATT).
Does anyone have a rooted rogers Nexus S that is working properly on 3G?
If so, what are you running for ROM, Radio, CWM, etc?
Thanks in advance,
I have been pulling my hair trying to get this fixed.

Rogers Wireless Nexus S
Rom: SuperAOSP 8.0 Android 2.3.4
Build #: GRJ22
Baseband: NO DGSXXKD1
Kernel: Netarchy Nexus S 1.3.0.12 CFS 2.3.4
Recovery: Clockwork Mod v 3.0.2.4
Runs perfect on Rogers here in Vancouver. Check your other thread to see if the radio i posted fixes your 3G problem. It happened to me too when i originally flashed SuperAOSP, but finding the right radio will definitely fix it.
I have an I9020a running on Rogers. I've run stock, cyanogenmod, and a couple other custom ROMs without any loss of 3G. I am currently using CM Nightly 84.
I've also experimented with the various NS radios available and haven't experienced any loss of 3G connectivity. I am currently using the 2.3.4 radio.
Have you checked your APN settings to make sure that you have the Roger's access points inputted?
Thanks for your responses, Guys.

I have the SGH-1727r from Rogers, unlocked, currently running Superlite ICS 5.0.
I have a working Rogers SIM, and a working T-mobile sim.
I will be traveling to NYC next month and want to be able to use the phone there.
Do I need to flash a custom modem or rom or anything else to make sure it works?
Hi,
I have had the LG Optimus P999 for almost a year, and I haven't bothered to update it yet(2.2.2). I got it from WindMobile, and I was wondering if by following this vid I could update it to 2.3.3 successively. I want to install a custom ROM, but they all seem to require at least 2.3.3.
Right now it is unlocked and rooted, also I am using a Fido SIM card.
Any thoughts?
Anyone?!
My P999 was also from wind and I did not update the firmwire to 2.3.3. I just installed clockwork mod and flashed in a newer MIUI rom. BTW how are you able to use a Fido Sim card on a wind mobile version of the Lg optimus 2x

Well to my understanding(which is limited) FIDO uses GMS on frequency 850MHz and 1900MHz, which this phone supports. But I hear that to get 3G on this phone I need to be on WindMobile or T-Mobile. I have data with FIDO and it shows at 2G (with two little arrows going up and down). Besides that I find it stupid the the LG Optimus 2X in Canada it is actually a LG Optimus G2X in the states (from what I have gathered).Anyways, how did you do the whole proccess of installing a new ROM, did you follow something similar to this ?
Idk if this would help, but here you go.

Are you just looking to install Gingerbread or do you also want to update the baseband? If you don't understand the second part of the question don't worry about it. In that case you just need to install clockwork mod recovery using NVflash and then install pretty much any ROM you want.
If you want to update the baseband you need to use the offline method. Search for it.

When I got my P999 from wind with stock Froyo, I rooted and CWM'd it within 5 minutes of getting it. Use the Nvflash guides to install CWM.. All should be fine.

FM Radio is disabled Via Hardware on the P999. The P990 Has FM Radio but we don't. If you need FM, Use TuneIn radio, but you will need to have an internet connection. Since FIDO isn't Wind or Moblilicty etc, and our phone isn't a Pentaband phone, I don't think that you will be able to get 3G With the different radio that Rogers/Telus/Fido uses. Calls, Text, and 2G data will work fine, just not 3G.

WHAT IS CSC :TAKEN FROM HERE: CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider. Would you happen to know if Samsung usually updates the RIL changes between builds GB-> ICS->JB? Also, does using an older RIL with a newer modem cause inefficiency? thanks much

no I don't, but I think mohan_kr knows more about ril and csc
I realized after a few pm's from users that all radio files aren't equal, I decided to take a look at a few of them and seen some contain the ril and or csc files.
a user flashed a gb radio with the ril files and had issues on ics, he restored the backup and all was fine meaning the ril/csc files got restored but the gb radio(amss.bin and mdm.bin) stayed.
for now it seems trial and error and experimenting, maybe removing the ril and scs files for one rom/fw might be good but not for another
edit: the user was calderonr and quote "My wife has a SH-I727 as well, ATT Unlocked but her provider is Straight Talk Wireless. She has ICS 4.0.0 I believe UCLF6...GPS/radio SUCKS ..."
he used GB2.3.5 UCKJ2, he now has good radio/gps after restoring his ics backup
Which radios have the ril and csc files? I'm on 4.2.2 slim on the T-Mobile network. I think I may be experiencing radio issues and have been flashing tons of tmobile Hercules radios trying to get a better signal but they have the ril and csc files removed as well

Hello I've been viewing for a while haven't posted cause I've had no real solid input or questions but after some in-depth searching for a few weeks I simply cannot find a way to get LTE with Telus and the skyrocket.
I don't want to flash the Telus radios in this area of the forums because it's made for the T989d. That radio will only give me HSPA+.
So I tired flashing the latest Telus S3 radio and for a while I was getting LTE fairly regularly except the baseband version in about still showed the original version for Rogers and I have no idea if it actually flashed.
I recently flashed Slim Bean 4.2.2 v4.2 and it's running great and so I went to flash the S3 radio again and about still doesn't show the new version, yet according to TWRP the flash was successful. I have yet to see LTE since flashing just "H" and "H+".
Is the S3 radio really any different from the skyrocket? and if so are there any Telus LTE compatible phones similar (WRT the radio) to the skyrocket that I can take a radio from?
Thanks in advance
AmiablySoulless
