I saw the jellybean app has a Magazine app, that looks pretty sweet on Google Play. Particularly the text function and ability to scroll and look for stories / articles from anywhere in the book with 1 touch of the screen.
I can't get this app on my phone or Nook Color. Is it unique to jellybean, or does the TF300 install this app with the latest google play store too?
Thanks
The Google Magazine app is currently blocked in my country, so I can't say.
Just FYI, there are other magazine apps that work just fine.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS56aW5pby5tb2JpbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5yZWFkZXIiXQ..
Installed fine for me. I haven't really used it yet, but it seems to work fine. I just installed it like any normal app.
The play magazine app works fine on the tf300. I updated it today and it shows my subscriptions just fine and in lager print than on my gnex

Hi Guys,
So I got my SGT 7" Sprint unlocked yesterday. So far, I love it. The screen is gorgeous, and I really like its feel in my hand. Anyway, I have a 10 day trip coming up and I want to see if I can replace my laptop with the SGT for this period. Now here are the things that I generally would use during my trip:
1. Occasional TV episode/movie (all of which I have already, no Netflix/movie downloads required)
2. Some music
3. Facebook/Gmail/College Email (already set up on Email)
4. General browsing (some youtube, forums, looking up places to go in the city)
5. Google Maps
Seeing what I need, which apps would you guys suggest? I am guessing a media app, but I haven't tried the stock media app yet. Would I have to convert stuff for the SGT to play properly? Is there any way I can download the maps on Google Maps and store them locally so that I won't need 3G services if I don't have wifi?
Any help is very much appreciated. Also, I haven't rooted my Tab yet, but will do it in a day or two once I get the hang of it.
about the google map i can't help u with it ,
but if u want to root your tab easily by one click . just download the superoneclick search for it , and root ur phone with it , its so easy

1. Stock player works fine for most formats, You could also try these
2. Stock Music player works fine or you could try these
3. Official facebook app/stock email client
4. Stock browser, Firefox, Dolphin HD 5 / Official Youtube App
5. Locus Maps.
You shouldn't need to convert any videos etc as they should play fine, even HD. However if you wanted to save space you could downsample them to reduce size.
To root your device use z4root or superoneclick. Also check out teh sticky threads in teh dev section. DO NOT post topics there though, if you have questions etc go to questions section or reply to a topic in dev.

1. Moboplayer free from the market. plays most video format.
2. if it's just some music, stock music works fine. if you listen to music frequently through your headphones, i recommend poweramp cos there are lots of settings you can play with. NOT free.
3. default facebook app works fine. built in email app is good. i use it for my school exchange email.
4. if you're on gingerbread, stock browser is fine but the browser can't download certain format of files, for example .rar files. if not you can try Opera Mobile (free). it's really smooth.
5. maps... i use google maps..
these are some of the apps i use and i highly recommend them. all are free except poweramp.
Quick office, you can sync it to google docs, thats if you need to create/read/edit documents, it can also make power point presentaitons
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I just rooted my tab and will give all the apps a try. TheATHEIST, does Locus maps allow map downloads?
For movies and videos set browser to desktop and check out ::
letmewatchthis.com
When you watch videos there from tab use the megavideo link. It works flawlessly for me.

The latest version of google maps lets you store maps in a cache, to use without a data connection.
To take advantage of this, move the map around the area you want to visit. Zoom in and out, follow the roads, etc. The maps are stored and you can use google maps with no data connection.

Opera Mobile 11 with adobe flash 10.3 is perfect.. in fact it's speedier than safari on ipad

Those looking for an offline navigation can now go to the galaxy app and download Nokia here official map for Samsung Galaxy device....
So hurry and Install the app and be tension free from Google maps which requires Internet connection for Voice Navigation..
But shows an error (SIG_FAILED)
I am Rooted and with Fast & Furious Rom .
Any one know how to get out of this situation...
I have the exact same error, i'm also rooted, don't know if it has any effect on downloads.
It's the first app in Galaxy Apps that gives me this error, i never had problems installing apps from the Galaxy Apps.
Fantastic, can and if yes, where can I download countries to my computer instead of phone?
I am rooted with X-Note ROM and Here works fine. So root is not a problem.
There are comments about installation failure in reviews section in Galaxy App Store and response from Here team telling that old version of Galaxy App Store can cause installation problems and suggestion to update app store.
Installed, Works perfectly. My only issue is I cant login to my HERE Account, It keeps saying Incorrect Email/Password - Which the same works fine on HERE Web. A few more smooth updates, and I hope I can get rid of Google Maps.
Installed & working perfectly, voice navigation working without internet, very good app

Couldn't install via net (deleted S Browser a long time ago), but reinstalled the Samsung Galaxy Apps apk and installed from there.
Working perfectly, and a nicer UI than OSMand, my default nav tool. Thanks to the OP for the tip.
Where are you guys downloading this Nokia here app ? it's not on the play store i did a quick search and i found Here by Varve is that the one ????
LOL!! My bad i found it its on the Galaxy App store Thank
it installed flawlessly awesome thanks
Market Helper is an application for rooted android devices developed by redphx. The application allows you to spoof the Google Play Store into thinking you are using a different device, with the key benefit of allowing the user to download applications that the Play Store flags as "not compatible with device." The application does not alter the build.prop file. More information and a download link can be found at the link below:

I was able to successfully use this application on my rooted Nexus Player. This is noteworthy because the latest posts in the support thread for the application say that it does not work with Android L, and that the dev is retired, such that an Android L compatibility update is unlikely. The Nexus Player runs Android L, and the application worked perfectly to spoof my NP as an Asus Transformer tablet.
Thanks for sharing this is a great news... do you see all the apps using NP's Play Store ? and how about paid apps ?

To be clear, this opens up app availability in the web version of the Google Play store. So you can sideload any app from the web Play Store. I did not see an expanded app selection in the Android TV Play Store app.
Yes, this absolutely works for paid apps. The whole reason I tested this was to get the Slingplayer for Tablets app on my NP. I was happy to pay $15 for the app, but became extremely frustrated that I could not legitimately download the app because I do not own any other android device besides my NP. By rooting my NP and using the Market Helper app, I was able to spoof the Play Store into thinking my device was an android tablet and bypass the restriction. Slingplayer for Tablets 3.5.2 works well on NP as long as you have a mouse.
Awesome I think you have achieved something today, so far I think this is the best method to get paid apps to the NP... I will give it a try today
Edit:
It works like a charm yay

I want to try it in the other way, I mean, install especific apps for Nexus Player in my HDMI Android Stick Like the Android TV Launcher, wich is only available for the Nexus Player. You think this is possible?
badass
this is badass thankyou
How do I get it to activate?
It's allowing me to pick what I want and all but once I try to activate it, it force closes.
Hi all. It seems there is another update to the Google app.
Now I just installed it on Kitkat.
I use the Google Now launcher...it now looks like Lollipop...white app drawer/icon an all.
Let's you manage cards now as well.
Impressed.
Hi All. Comparing my newish Mate 9 with my wife's rather ancient Galaxy S4, I noticed a difference in the Play Store app. My wife's has an extra feature in the hamburger menu just above 'settings' called 'Play Protect'.
From what I've read (I know it's function) all Android phones with Play Services v11 should have this new feature, but mine has v11. 3.02 but no Play Protect.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

In a different place, usually the same on stock/vanilla Android so hers must be different on TouchWiz or whatever Sammy calls their ui now. It's in - Google - Security - Google Play Protect and there's 2 options.
Ahh, that explains it! Thanks Benjmeister. I've also noticed that the Wife goes to the PlayStore and clicks on 'My Apps and Games' just above the list of app updates there's a little green icon with 'Play protect' next to it summarising when the last scan was made. I know I can (NOW) see that same info under Google - Security, she can see it within the actual App Store. What do you think? Another Samsung TouchWiz thingy?
