[HOW TO] format sd card with paragon partiton manager

So I decided to make this small guide, on how to partitioning your sd card with paragon partition manager… There is many different ways, including a script an xda forum member created, and ubuntu as well.. But I assume paragon partition manager might be the best for all people who don’t know how to use Linux very much..

Or at least a wrap stick (a thread that contains many highly used threads like in the developement and hacking section under the main thread) would be useful.

i think this is the easiest way. I did this to my card and took only a few min. def the way to go.

its a good guide, but i have a question everytime i try to format this way in paragon it says cannot create partition because all primary slots are taken, it says this when i try to resize or create new. any ideas?

Ok I resized my card using paragon my fat32 is 5gb and my EXT2 is 1.5gb. I went and tried to follow these instructions http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Haykuro_Apps_to_SD and for some reason I am not seeing the system/xbin/busybox folder.

how many partitiosn it list for the sdcard? sometimes when you use the usb cable then tend to mess up.. try creatign the FAT32 formatign it and than rezise and make teh ext2

i am still using JF build haven't tried Haykuro builds... sicne my phone is smooth im kinda of lazy to be recofniguring not sure how that works mayeb some oen else can help you.

funny ting, my pc never reads my sd card unless its through the phone. Ive tried the card on multiple systems, and i get the same results. so im forced to modify the card while its in the phone.

A few things here:
1. Unless you're planning on downloading every app ever made, you're never going to need a ext2 partition larger than 500mb, and even that is a LOT. I tried to fill my partition and managed to squeeze over 300 apps on there before I ran out of room...then I had to painfully uninstall them all cause I didnt feel like reformatting/reflashing/restoring.
2. Make sure you're using the right version of apps-to-sd. Haykuro's latest builds can be found here. The apps-to-sd versions are linked at the very top of the page.
3. The directories you're looking for are NOT on the sd card. They are only visible on the phone through adb. If you're not familiar with adb, do a quick forum search on how to set it up.

when uiu partition via usb cable the partition tend to mess up.. and not moutn o n the phone..
what you can do is, insert the sdcard check min my computer under management and assign a letter to th sdcard so the pc will read it mount it

Thanks will look into the adb issues but I am using the 5.0.2Hr apps to sd build.

I been trying to format the ext2 in my SDcard with Paragon Partition Manager but it saids I can use a demo version but it will not allow me to do the ext2 it saids I have to buy the full version. could someone tell me where to get the software that will work? thanks

[Q] I screwed up (Solved)

I was trying to update a friends transformer to ICS (revolver) and I forgot that you have to put the zip on the internal storage (at least that's the only way I know how to do it) I'm using roach CWM based 5.5.0.4, I was playing around in there and, this is where I really screwed up, wiped /system. I have adb access and I'm in recovery but there's no rom installed on the tab because of me wiping /system. The rom is on the sd card (not the internal storage labeled as sdcard, an actual sd card). I tried pushing it from adb but I was probably doing it wrong. I was looking for a way to mount the internal storage but I didn't see any. I've tried several options but none have worked so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

so why don't you just install the rom from the microSD?
You have a 5.xxx recovery, and that allows you to install zips from microSD. Just pop that into a PC and copy the rom file on it. Select install from microsd and there you go...
PS: wiping /system doesn't format the internal storage...

I have the rom on the external sd card. I tried the flash from sd and it was looking at the internal "virtual" sd card. I didn't see an option to switch to the external sd and I think there are some recoverys that use the external sd as default but I haven't been able to find one. If I did find one it would have to be an image so I could flash it through bootloader.
I was looking for a .img file to flash through bootloader but couldn't find one of those. I tried adb push to get the .zip onto the internal storage but, and I'm sure I was doing something wrong, that didn't work.

wait wait wait... just to clarify, are you using the full size sd card on the dock?

I think the guy said MicroSD up there, the one you inserted on the side. But the onboard CWM only detect the internal virtual SDcard.
Now he screwed because of the full wipe prior flashing while the intended Rom was placed in the MicroSD..
Yea, if the transformer comes with B70 or below, then you can use Flash to do the magic.

no, no dock. I'm using the external micro sd.
So I finally got it to push, I renamed the file ics.zip because I didn't feel like typing out the whole file name and because I used .zip at the end the file was actually ics.zip.zip, that's why it couldn't find it.
cmd says:
C:\Transformer>adb push ics.zip /sdcard
1333 KB/s <268182367 bytes in 196.431s>
It pushed but now I just tried "choose zip from sdcard" and I got "couldn't open directory. No files found"
Edit: For some reason nothing was showing up at all on the internal storage so I rebooted back into recovery and all the files that were there before returned. I didn't see my ics.zip in there though which was odd but in searching through the folders i found an older version of a rom I flashed on there when I first rooted it. It's on the welcome screen right now.

BTW, I did research and the problem is solved now, you'd have noticed if you read.

Hm interesting... Why wouldnt you be able to push to /sdcard/ (notice the extra slash)?
Is that folder not mounted correctly while in recovery? Ive never tried ADB in recovery, only in android and push to /sdcard/ works just fine.
pushing anything to /sdcard does not work though (notice the lack of the extra slash). Might be my rom but doubt it since its the same on my phone and other tablet...

Like you said, /sdcard is wrong.
The correct paths are /sdcard/, /data/media, and /data/media/.
Most ADB guides posted on this forum use /data/media(/) though.

1.&2. his version might not support it and since i'm using Rogue XM Recovery v1.3.0 (CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7), i just thought being v5 it would. It was just a fast answer, no need for your superiority complex.

There are a lot of people like him in all the forums, it's best just to walk away. I'm not new but I wasn't thinking clearly due to lack of sleep. Also the tf101 wasn't mine, I forgot how Asus had the storage set up, and I was thinking it would have the same path whether you were booted or through ADB. I knew I screwed up, that's why I said it right in the title. Oh well, it's fixed now. The problem is that a lot of people turn developers and newbies away by acting like that.

Titan backup doesn't see ext SD card.

I have titan backup pro and it doesn't see my 32gig ext SD card. Any suggestions?

You actually do not need to store them on the external sd. Titanium stores the backups by default on the root directory of the internal sd card (memory) and are safe from being wiped when wiping data/resetting to flash a rom. People do choose to change that location to the external for swapping backup to a different phone and for extra security in case of a brick or some other issue that could arise, but it is not required to do for general flashing of different roms.
If you do want to change the location, go into preferences and select storage location, the back button will navigate to different locations available. Choose external sd and make your batch backup..that's it. If you already made a backup on your internal before switching to external, you'll need to use a file explorer (I like ES, but others are just fine too) to move the entire Titanium folder to the external card. Then go back into preferences and be sure to select the titanium folder you just moved as the backup location.

NONONO DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Well you can if you don't then move your backups to your ext or a computer.
I believe TWRP wipes the WHOLE internal card when doing a factory reset as the Samsung Recovery does. ClockworkMod I believe is the only one that doesn't.
You probably need to format your 32gb ext to Fat32 instead of exFat that it comes with. See HERE It doesn't hurt to do this either way, unless you plan on putting files that are larger than 4gb each onto your card.

I don't use twrp, I use cwm with zero titanium issues on internal card. I find it unlikely that twrp would wipe the entire root directory bank of files because that would also wipe its own file including backups made. I'd like some verification on this, though I don't not use twrp, nor have seen any reference to not using the default location in any of titaniums guides.

Quick note: I hate speculation. Please someone else chime in on some verification so that the op is getting accurate correct information.
My directions above ARE 100% correct if using cwm as your recovery. Titanium makes no mention or warning that you should change titaniums built in default storage location based on various recovery options. But again, I do not have any intimate knowledge of the workings of twrp, but certainly want to know so that my help is verifiable and accurate in the future.

Okay, if TWRP CANNOT wipe the internal card cuz of it's own files, then how the hell does the stock version do the same thing???
DUH!!! recovery is on a DIFFERENT partition! Know your phone!

Let's put this into basics. Do you know for a fact that twrp will erase a titanium backup stored in the default titanium storage location on the internal card, or do you need to change the storage location to external when using twrp recovery risk losing the backups?
All I got from you is telling the op to not use titaniums default location based on a speculation you had on twrps possibility to wipe it without any definitive info to back it.
My cwm based info is un-arguably accurate. So let's not confuse the original op's question here, and be sure your not rewriting the book on titanium.

First make sure your SD Card is formatted correctly (as FAT32, not NTFS)
Then make sure your TB is actually backing up to that drive. Meaning, go into a file explorer and make sure that the Titanium files are there.
If those don't work, try using a different Recovery.

I would gladly read any info I could on the android system. I admit I don't "know" my phone. I haven't been able to find info to get intimate knowledge of my phone. I just assumed the entire phone was wiped when I told it to in recovery. I can see where the storage drive can get rather cluttered over time then. Is there a way to do a full wipe to kinda clean things up in the future?
I'm going to have to buy the book android for dummies.
My mem card is stock 32gigs sandisk class 10. Straight out the package. The phone reads it. File manager sees it. Idk if I would need files greater than 4gigs. Didn't realize there was issues with the 32. Thought it was just the 64. That's why I got the 32 and not the 64.

Your correct, the 32 should have no issues, the problems come along with the 64's. My SanDisk 32 class ten has no problems with files over 4 gig. Appreciate the support!

I don't know for a fact that TWRP will wipe everything or not... I was meaning that the OP should copy his backups to his ext manually or to a computer JUST IN CASE. I thought I had read that the TWRP Factory reset/wipe did the same thing as the Stock's Factory Reset/wipe(Which erases ALL app data from the internal SD including TB's backups!

@OP: The problem with the 64gb cards that I was referring to is their format. I know for a fact that 64gb cards are exFAT. I "think" that 32gb cards are doing the same thing. I dunno for sure. The problem with these cards is that the phone will read them, any file explorer will read them, but Recovery's have an issue reading them. Along with AOSP ROM's from what I've been told(I dunno for sure because I've always fixed my cards before going to AOSP).
If you dont see yourself using any files over 4gb(which usually are just bluray rips) then you might as well just format your card to FAT32 just to be safe. Go to and follow the GUI option of this THREAD. This is how I did my card and it's caused me no problems. Like I said the only downfall to formatting it this way won't allow you to use files that are over 4gb in size.
Now, there has been other problems with 64gb cards as far as stability. This is all speculative since I have not experienced it first hand, but I guess a lot of people were having their cards fail period. Meaning they were un-readable in any format on any device. Like I said, I have not experienced this.

I definitely would like to know more, especially about whether twrp does a full format. And just so I know, for cwm to erase root files, you would have to choose the format system option as opposed to wipe data/factory reset (which does not erase those files)?

TWRP does not wipe /data/media which is the default save location for titanium, this location is the main directory of your internal storage. I have used TWRP on my SGS3 and my transformer prime and it has never erased this directory when doing a factory reset.

[Q] Nook color with no emmc and I don't know whats been done to it

So I bought this nook for my partner and now it won't boot. I like to think I'm comfortable with all android and every aspect of it but I'm likely not. the nookcolor-emmc-repair-partitions threads (both) don't work. So apparently he's erased partition 3. Thats about everything I know. Can anyone direct me anywhere or give me the most basic detailed instructions on how to do adb?

right now I can access twrp 2.1.8 from a bootable sd card and it'll run any rom thats put on the sd card we just want it to operate the way its supposed to

[GUIDE] Photo Recovery from Internal Memory

Hey guys, I've found a way to recover files from the INTERNAL Memory of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
A lot of people have said that it's not possible, but I'm here to prove them wrong.
You have to have rooted your phone before carrying out these steps. Don't post here asking for help rooting, there's plenty of other threads that can help you with that.
I hold zero liability in the event that you make a nice brick out of your phone. If you do not feel comfortable working with these commands, then please don't follow them.
You're going to need an SD Card that's at least the size of the internal memory on the phone. A smaller one would work, but keep in mind not all the files are going to be recovered.
If the SD Card is brand spanking new, you can skip step number 1.
Format the SDCard with a layer of 0's. This is done so that none of the old data will interfere with your recovery. This step is optional.
Root the Device
Install Terminal Emulator
Insert the SDCard
In Terminal Emulator run the command to gain super user privileges

Grant Terminal Emulator super user privileges
Run this command,

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p29 of=/storage/extSdCard/raw.dd
Wait. Leave your phone plugged into an AC Adapter, and go grab a can of pop. This command will take a looong time. Couple hours to a day.
Once the command is finished running, shutdown your phone.
Remove the SDCard, and connect it to a computer
Download TestDisk
Open PhotoRec
Select the SDCard and press enter
Use the first option of "Unknown"
Then press "Other"
Select the Directory to backup the files to
Profit

How it works:
By dd'ing the internal memory to a file on the SDCard, you're doing a raw copy of the data.
Once the data is copied onto the SDCard, PhotoRec will scan the SDCard for deleted data, doing so will scan the raw file for photos. Not just photos, all files can be recovered using this method.
This method works on all rootable phones, provided you can figure out where the dev block for the internal memory is.

Tbh I just downloaded the first app I came across that was free and had half decent reviews, can't remember what one, it was a little while ago, but there are loads of them in the store.

Newer devices(Such as the S4) have an ext3 filesystem I believe, and a few paid apps claim to offer support for it.
... Not to mention TestDisk is Open Source :angel:

Although some might well be limited to FAT filesystem, some are not, its up to the user to check before downloading and installing. After that rather simple search and install, I managed to recover every img file on my phone, current and deleted, and back it all up to external memory, all with a free app, which offers img file recovery for free and any other file type of your choice for a small, one off, cost, if you needed it. I recovered almost 1gb of img files in under 10 minutes.
Am I correct in assuming your method copies the entire contents of the internal memory, or a portion of it, to an SD card before starting the search for deleted files? I'm just an amateur with little knowledge trying to figure out how your method works. Sorry don't mean to bash your method of doing it either, just commenting on this as your post suggest no one has ever been able to do this before and your method is the one and only way it can be done.

But if the device is factory reset, will you be able to get files? If i sell my device i don't want anyone sneaking on my photos.

So i've followed your guidelines to a 'T' with a brand new 64g (huge, i know) Sd card, but the command line responds with, "writer error: file to large". Any advice as to how to proceed?
