Weird battery issue - HTC Sensation

I have a Vodafone Ireland sensation ,with the latest ics build, I keep having weird battery issue, it takes up to 5 to charge to 100% but yesterday when it reached 80 % I rebooted the phone and on startup it went to 100% ,average battery temperature is around 35 to 45 when in use and battery widget identifies the capacity as 1580 mah although it 1520 mah, same app on my Desire hd gives the right battery capacity ,and on my hd2 it give the right.mah reading too .the phone feels hot on the SIM card and memory card area when taking cover off, so decided to dev unlock ,and installed custom roms but the issue still there both my old phone last a day longer than my sensation.
I really appreciate your advice and guidance

Hi,
The Sensation has notoriously bad battery reporting.
It does take a while sometimes to fully charge, not always.
It is not really comparable to Desire which has single core and different CPU.
Your best bet is to experiment with different combinations of ROM/kernel.
People seem to be able to get 2-3 days out of some of them.
It also depends largely on how you use your phone...

This started happening to me again a couple of weeks ago. So I bought an anker battery and the problem went away. I switch both batteries every day and I don't get anymore reboots and messed up battery stats.

Had that problem too... I suppose everyone have it. I also bought 2 Anker batteries, charged fully, wiped batt-stats, and all is good now.

wow, ankr batteries... (must buy)!!!

hi guys,
I must say I'm very very very impressed with my aankr batteries I got from ebay.
with the stock battery, (lastest insertcoin rom)
battery would drain 7~8 % on light use.
bit better on cyanogen mod but prefer Sense over anything else.
got 2 ankrs yesterday
fully charged (first cycle)
battery drain is significantly better.
2% per hour on light use ( some music, podcasts, as before with the stock battery)
I think everyone should get one of these.
Already a thread...
Sent from my HTC Sensation
I am thinking of picking one up myself shortly as i now have my CPU running at 1.5GHz funny enough i have not noticed much of a drain battery life wise but still struggle with a full days use.
From Sensation Accessories Forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128568
srry it was an repost.
i was just too excited with the result.
8-4pm i have about 40%left
(with stock battery it went down to 15~20%)
since it's my first charge, it will only get better
Thanks and srry again for repost.
I think the anker batteries are the best thing to happen to the sensation, besides cm7 lol. But with the anker battery I can get 20 hours on a single charge, no BS, I have the screen shots, just don't know how to attach them in XDA app
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
You can get way over 20 hours. I've had 30+ out of it loads of times. (with fairly light use obviously)
Sent from my brain
yeah I can.vouch for that ....I just got it nd just flashed the messy rom aosp rom and first charge lasted over 20 hours I'm on second cycle now and I'm over 23 hours and I believe at 35 % left ......not even using special kernel ....but I'm gona install new faux kernel and I'm hoping to get Even better life .....

remember boys, to go through 4-5 charge/discharge cycles, like recommended by the instruction manual. it gets better after that.

battery life warranty issue

Alright...this is not to complain about battery life, or how long your battery lasts..i promise..let me tell you my story
My phone got stolen, the warranty people sent me a new one...everything was good ...loaded my usual custom rom..and put my chichitec battery in...
But im getting really bad battery life..so I reversed to stock rom..and getting the same thing..Im getting like max 11 hours on it..but it seems weird that the discharge is (to me) feeling a little accelerated. Im am using this new phone just like i was usuing the other one (the stolen one) yes i understand there are diferent variables however I have kept them the same for the most
Has anyone heard or had the experience of a bad phone that is eating too much juice??? remember..this thread is NOT about the battery itself but the PHONE
thanks!
If the battery is new just give it a few full cycles
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
it aint..thats the worse part ..my chichitec I used to use it on my old phone...could having a new phone act the same way, meaning because its a new phone it needs a couple cycles?
Ok i recommend flash your custom rom and drain battery to below 20% rhen charge for 8 hrs the use the app called battery calibrater from app market then while its on 100% after 8 hrs keep charger plugged in and calibrate the battery following instructions in the app and use normal one or two time and let us no

roger that! will do! thanks for the advice

Evo3d battery for UK sensation users

yesterday i came accross this website call Mobilefun.com
and i seen the evo3d battery which i know works in sensation.
since i was thinking of getting a original htc battery for my htc sensation.
i thought this might be a great deal because the battery was on for £22 including post.
but the thing that suprised me that i ordered the battery yesterday around 11 in the morning and i recieved the battery at 12.
here is some picture of the box and packaging.
i made this thread so anyone is looking for htc evo3d batteryu for thier senation and dont want to pay £32. then i suggest you order your battery from this website beside the delivery is very quick.
some picture of the box and accessories i recieved today.
and try this rebate code and you will get a free mobile cleaning cloth
PROMOCLOTH.

no just because i got the battery the battery isn't fully optimized but yesterday i fully charged my battery than i took it off from charger and turned the brightness fully up, turn the wifi, gps, bluetooth on and start playing shadowgun and my battery lasted nearly 3 hours
the real time was 2hour 39 min
wheras my orighinal htc optimize battery lasts me
1hour 55min
my normal usage on original battery is 14-15 hours. but after 5-8 full charge and fully killing the battery i will let you know my normal usage.
hm..
On my standard battery (1520 mah) it's working about 9-12 hours. Today I will buy evo3d battery.
Do you think it can work 20 hours after charging on this battery?
But I think this is gut idea to buy this battery, isn't it?

Really tempted to get this as it seems an awesome price for an official battery with higher capacity...weirdly it looks a completely different shape on the website:

Evo3D battery:

But in your pictures it does look the same shape as the Sensation one, are the websites photos just messed up?

anker battery claims that they have 1900mah of power but nobody know what's the real mah. beside htc 1730mah is guaranteed 1730. because they cannot advertise wrong but since anker is 3rd party you can be guaranteed with them. beside i would rather buy a offical htc battery rather then 3rd because you can guarnteeill work
but that was my point of view but if you think anker is better than legit company batteries than go with it. because its up to you to decide what to choose.
I get evo3d batterie
Today I get my evo3d batterie. It's a little bit bigger, but it's working great on sensation I starting tasting it and after week I write is it worth to buy it
I also buy 32gb sd card for it, so I will have a lot of fun:d
hm, strange but batterie works same as original in sensation... any suggestions why?

HTC Sensation isn't charging fully

Hey,
I have had an HTC sensation for about a year, just recently it has started to not fully charge even when plugged in over night. It happens on both my phone and my wife's, I have tried flashing different roms and wiping battery stats with no success. I will plug the phone in most nights about 11 P.M. and get up about 6 A.M and it only has about 82% charge. I have tried several different charges as well.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Out of curiosity, have you tried switching to another battery to see if it's the battery or the device it's self? If you put a new battery in and the problem still persists then it's likely a problem with the device. But I would check to make sure it's not the batteries going bad. Strange both devices are doing same thing!
Sent from my HTC Sensation
It does indeed sound like the battery, maybe you can try your wife's battery in your phone?
Because both devices are doing same thing I would NOT use wife's battery to test. I'd get a new one for the two of you. Hopefully it will solve the issue. Are you both still using stock battery? You might want to give anker a try. It's a extended battery and under 20 dollars! I'm really hoping this will solve the issue. Let us know keep us posted. Best wishes!
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Yes we are both still using stock batteries. Thanks! After your initial post I found 2 Ankers on amazon for $30 so I am going to try that, I will post my results when I receive them a few days from now. What was so strange was that it went from charging to full in 2 to 3 hours to 82% in 7 hours.
It was the battery, a cell had gone bad. I purchased the Anker batteries (1900) and it charges in about an hour and a half and lasts 16 hours on full use, plus I sit in an office where it searches for 4g all day if I allow it. Over all it was a vast improvement and all I had was a bad battery.
Thanks for your help
So glad you got it fixed!

random shutdowns and battery drain

hi fellas,
i have a sensation z710
i have random shuwdown problem for a while.
i tried different roms, different kernels, firmware update, battery calibration. i put a piece of paper on the bottom of battery
but i still have same problem.
and i noticed that when phone has %70-80 charge and when it shut down, after i start it again, it says low battery and shows %10-15 battery.
i wanted to try another battery but i dont want to spend money for that before i would be sure, problem is my battery.
is there any thing ı can do to fix this problem?
thanks for helping

Although I can't be 100% sure, it sounds like your battery... What battery are you using?
I suggest you buy an original Anker 1900Mah battery, and see how you go.
you need a new battery, your battery is getting old, that is why random reboots are popping......how long did u have the battery? If u have the battery for almost a year and a half, time to start changing
i have stock battery and it s almost two years old. Time to change battery ha ?

YES! Please get Anker Battery from eBay or Amazon. It will make your life more easier
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-Exten..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item4ac3f8bf01

battery lifetime does not only depend on age, but also on usage.
for my knowledge (correct me if i am wrong) lion batteries suffer age and heat (so usage in my opinion has a little impact only). i received my htc sensation some mounths ago from my brother that changed phone and the battery was swollen. in fact the phone shuts down very much. i have an anker battery from some days and the problem disappeared check if he battery is swollen, if yes change it!

They are affected by chage and discharge as well. The charge and discharge is hard on the battery and causes it to wear out. But that's also how you use it. So basically using it wears it out. Same as car tires. They will last a long time if you keep the car parked. But the more you drive the faster the tires wear out.
