Anyone else find that after updating to any of the new CM9 nightlies some apps became 'not compatible with your device'?
Specifically tinychat which I was using on this device before... I updated from #28-30 with no results, so I decided to reflash alpha 4 which I'm positive I had the app running on, but still no dice =\
Currently on UCLE2 ICS CM9-6/30-Nightly with CWMtouch-5.8
Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I can only really ask if perhaps a few other people could simply go to tinychat.com on their device and see if it says whether your device (non-rogers please) is compatible or not. Thank you very much! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I'm on cm9 07.02.2012 nightly and i searched for tinychat and i can't get it either. i've fixed market compatibility in lcd density modder pro and still cant find it. i went to the play store on my computer to find it and found it. I went to install but it isnt compatible with any of my devices for some reason. Maybe it's a problem with tinychat? any other app problems should be fixed by fixing market compatibility in lcd density modder.
Are they all on ICE? It could be the app doesn't work with ICS.

if you have Root and file explorer, go into your /system/build.prop and make sure this line that says: ro.sf.lcd_density=240 looks exactly like this.

Indeed I am speaking of all ICS firmware, but my confusion lies unltimately in my use on ICS before without problems. But thanks for the reply!

Thankyou very much, yet my ro.sf.lcd_density does in fact =240. I even tried using the GPlay DPI fix, and it allowed me to bring tinychat to google play, but when I press install & download it brings up '"tinychat - group video chat" could not be downloaded due to an error. (942)'
I suppose it's a good thing I don't have access to such a "social"/anti-social application all the time
Still, it's just really confusing and still would enjoy the ability to broadcast for people like when I was at my friends' concert the other night. But it's no big deal really, Ustream works and that's wonderful for that particular need. Thanks again to all the replies! :good:

Hi,
This is a subject that came up while discussing something else in another post, but it's important to me so I hope posting it here will be helpful both for me and others.
Many times, apps that are available in the Market state that they are uncompatibale with kindle Fire. When I got the apk file from another source, I was able to install it on my rooted KF with no problems whatsoever.
I don't know why this happens, but I understood (from the other thread) that the device's ID cand be changed so that the Market thinks it's a different device and will let me download and install the app.
How can I do that? I have the original KF without any ROM changed, only rooted.
If someone could post directions as to how this could be done (newbie level, please...) it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Yossi

Thank you.
It seems the solution in the thread only works on nonstock Kindle Fire.
I haven't changed the rom on KF and don't really want to do that unless I have no choice.
Is there another way?

You could try sideloading your apps but I recommend rooting or installing a ROM based off stock like MoDaCo.

The problem with the default Kindle ROM is that the bar at the bottom is oversized like two times compared to the default Android one. A lot of apps are perfectly fine on the Kindle, but there are some that get cut off because of that bar. So because of that, they simply don't mark it as compatible. If we had a fullscreen option globally, it wouldn't be a problem.

I tried this, gave up and installed Gede's ICS.
Every time I tried to download & install an app with Google Play It would crash. I tried uninstalling, installing from KFU, fixing permisions with the TW recovery and still would crash.
The other issue with using the stock kindle and root is your Build.prop may prevent you from getting many things that you may want to run that the kindle may be capable of running but can't due to restrictions set by the dev.
Hi everyone, today I was updating my SKY ICS 4.2E ROM with the latest update, I followed all the steps (it's been a while since Im doing this) and finished, I assumed everything went fine and continued using my phone. later i found out that the MMS.apk was missing and tried to reinstall it but never could. I also tried reinstalling the update but it didn't worked. so here Im asking for a little help, Thanks in advance.

Messaging isn't in Gapps.
OP, SkyICS uses Samsung's messaging apk so your best bet is going to be to re-install the base. I am attaching the MMS.apk from the SkyICS base, so you can try dropping that in \system\apps\; don't forget to change the permissions.
Thanks, I did that but it didn't worked either, but went to the play store and looked for the ICS message app and installed ;D it was that simple all the time, thanks everybody.
Before you reflash
Go to settings-> Applications-> all -> and scroll ALL THE WAY to the end of the list. See if it is disabled.
This happened on mine, just renable and was good to go.

I've had notification issues with that app; double-check that you're getting all your text notifications before you close the book on this. Otherwise, great app if you prefer the AOSP look, which I do.
It looks good, actually I don't mind how it looks as long as it works. thanks for the help everybody.

This is the only one of the ICS roms that caused trouble. installed with tiny fonts, on reboot it went into bootloops, and I had to reinstall from stock. Everything was wiped before installation.

It has tiny font cause I set its density to 200dpi by default - cause its given me best experience , if u dont like it, u can set the build.prop, at the density line to 240 and everythig should be ok (or flash another font I provided to have thicker font...other than that, I have no issues except ones from OP

I had no problems with installation. I experienced slight lag while scrolling apps, but I'm sure the Rom just needed to cook some more before I started messing with stuff lol. I loved the tiny font, the settings menu scrolls like butter and the response time for bringing up the multitask menu is amazingly fast.

a few times a day typically - so its just me experiencing this, eh?
@MatisyahuSerious haven't had that problem. I deleted all my music but i tried test tones for ya. No error though the test is only 5 seconds.
Does it stop in the middle or at the begining?
Could be a corrupt file?
And as for the lag in the app drawer I mentioned earlier, haven't had the problem since i jumped back into the rom.
I love the theme.
Thanks.
Love it
I am loving the rom however It is not allowing me to download a lot of my apps from the playstore. I recently wanted to load my lose it app but it tells me that my device is not supported. What does the play store see the phone as? Thank you in advance.
Edit build.prop and change dpi to 240 or you might be able to do it from the actual settings menu.
That's weird because I thought I would have issues with the dpi and the Play Store but I do not. I wonder why others have it
Hey guys.
Loving the MIUI Rom that I just downloaded, best UI I have seen to date.
One small thing though, not sure if anyone has experienced it, but I play Dragonvale, and for some reason, it simply doesn't work properly on the Rom.
When I open it, the screen gets all messed up, and that particular app, out of all the one's that I have, doesn't work.
Anyone experience the same thing?
Thanks!
Try Settings < Developer Options < and check in "Disable HW Overlays."
That was happening on a different ROM I was using. However I don't have MIUI but if it were my ROM that would fix it.

Hello there,
I got a problem with installing Open Pdroid on my Galaxy s I9000. Its rooted and running on CM 10.1.0-RC2 and Android 4.2.2.
The thing is, I can't figure out what exactly I am doing wrong.
I used Kobik77's ApG to create the update.zip and restore.zip and had no further issues with it.
On my phone I entered CWM and installed the .zip without any error.
I installed PDroid Manager via Google Play.
So far so good. But now PDroid Manager says: "The PDroid Core has not been detected on your device."
As of now I am not sure whether the patching Process via ApG has been a failure, something went wrong
when installing it via CWM, the PDroid Manager has been buggy, or none of it and I just missed
some detail, like the version I am using is not supported (though I am pretty sure I read somewhere that 4.2.2 and CM 10.1 are supported).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Edit: my problem has slightly changed. PDroid manager now always asks me to configure it when i install a new app. But when i attempt to do so, it says: "PDroid Manager has been closed."
When i open PDroid manager via the apps icon it still tells me that open pdroid Installation cannot be detected.

You are only flashing the update.zip file, and not the restore.zip as well?
I use ApG to build openDroid for my LG 4X HD and it works fine.
Hello, first of all thanks for the reply! Yes i only flash the update zip. Flashing the the restore zip would defeat the purpose right?

I can't think of anything obvious that would cause this. Are you running the stock Kernel? I would suggest trying a totally clean install of CM with the .zip file you created by ApG. Don't install anything other than the pDroid Manager and test it again. If it's still not working then try with a newer version of CM, possibly the latest nightly for your device.

Actually i have no idea if i run the stock kernal, as I said, I am pretty new to smartphones.
"3.0.76-gc0a8d45

..is what it says in the phone's settings. Doesn't sound like a stock to me.
I will install the latest nightly build first and try it again. If possible i want to avoid to go through the trouble
of reinstalling all my apps. Seems like I have to find a good backup solution earlier than expected if I
want to keep as much of my data as possible >.<
Well thanks again for taking the time to deal with my problem!

The kernel sounds stock - if you don't remeber flashing a different kernel then you're fine. If you're that worried about losing your apps then just flash the latest nightly and use ApG on that version to try - but do a NanDroid backup of everything first, just in case.

OK i screwed and bricked my phone Anyway i managed to try a few things:
I flashed latest CM nightly and tried to get Open PDroid via the update zip from ApG --> failed
I did factory reset and wiped the cache / did a clean install of ONLY (I just tried randome stuff here) the update zip --> failed
I did factory reset and wiped cache / did a clean istall of latest CM nightly, rebooted and installed the ApG update zip --> failed
Each time the PDroid Manager wasn't able to detect a, in my case Open PDroid, installation.
I noticed that it took especially long to initiate the download of PDroid Manager, I mean the bar before the actual download starts. It took a few minutes until sth. happened. Though i doubt it has anything to do with, I just wondered if it may be conflicting with anything in the system. But probably just due to the reset.
I am getting desperate here
Well anyway.. I may have done a mistake, but realized it too late: Did u mean to install without the gapps? .. I did install CM with gapps...
If I was meant to install CM without gapps i will try that tomorrow!
If any different ideas come to mind.. I will try anthing else too.
thanks again..
Hey, my phone's fixed and my problem changed a little, but i dont know if i it is any
progress.
PDroid Manager still displays the same message, that Open PDroid core could not be
detected, but whenever i istall a app now, it asks me to configure it.
When i press the button in the status bar, where it appears, it just says: "PDroid Manager has
been closed".
So basically i can't do anything with it, but it sometimes tells me it's there
any suggestions?

If OpenPdroid isn't working, have you tried Pdroid2.0? It's not the best solution, but it is one.
