yeah, you must be one of the lucky ones. I called the local BB today in New Jersey here where my preorder is and the mobile rep told me the most recent date they heard was the 24th.

I dont know about this. I do believe you are telling the truth, it seems like no one at best buy knows. I was at best buy yesterday and the guy told me 24th along with motorola Xoom. I have a droid x and my 14 days are up on the 23rd. If its the 24th I am going to go in on the 23rd and return the droid x and get the thunderbolt the next day.

Both Minnesota Districts have no Thunderbolts in stock and 0 on the way, and 0 in the territory warehouse. I watched as the employee in Lakeville, MN today showed me the RSS page (Best Buy Inventory program). Had the right SKU, $749.99 price. Sad to say but it is really looking like the 24th. Keep in mind, these are the 2 districts their headquarters reside in. There wasn't even any in Edina, the location that is literally across the street from Best Buy HQ...
The question to the Florida guy, did you physically see these stock numbers?

Trust me I want to believe! I was just throwing in what I found today. And im not calling the guy in florida a liar either. Having worked at best buy in shakopee, mn for nearly a year, 3 years ago, I never saw a product that suddenly change to show tons of stock and see none on the way. Only way I see this as being possible is if Verizon and best buy made a huge deal along the lines of "hide the tracking info in case the iphone sales flop we will let you exclusively release it early." Just my thoughts.

Well I've bought alot of Phones from BestBuy In some cases, they would not get that phone until Fedex delivered it on that release day. I dunno Maybe the Verizon rep is right or wrong, but never the less its coming this month.

I don't know why they'd release it without advertising...most likely to help the iphone get as many sales as possible, but that's just sad. this thing is a beast, and deserves the kind of marketing the EVO got from Sprint..

in regard to some to stores not getting them and some will.....
a week ago i made a post saying it was gonna be the 14th, when i was on the phonewith various people from besy buy corp, id say about 50/50 of the time, id get a response saying...stores will start selling them on the 14th, however the stores who had the bad winter storms could be as late is the 17th.
is wisconsin one of those state that got 2 feet of snow by chance?
with that said, id think that was period when the phones were actually shipped, (when all the snow went through the midwest areas) apparently with a "tell no one they are here" note stuck to them? just my theory for what its worth i guess

Thunderbolt cannot survive 40MPH

Soooo my Thunderbolt was murdered today in a stupendous and awesome fashion.
I went to pick up my GF from her job to take her to dinner. We've been doing well lately. We were texting prior to me picking her up and she was so turned on I was going to get some head before dinner but in typical fasion I said something stupid when I picked her up and ruined it. So I wrote off the physical part of the evening, **** happens. So I decided to take her to Carraba's for dinner. It's a nice but not overly nice Italian place in Houston. We ate, we drank... me more than her of course. We were texting my friend tave about her... situation. That's a whole different discussion.
Anyways, 2 hours later I paid the bill and we walked out. As we were walking to the car in the parking lot I threw her up against the side of the Shelby and placed my TBolt on top of the car because it was in my hand. I'm kissing on her, feeling her up, getting her going.
I open the passenger side door and she gets in first and I get in on top of her. We continue as one might suspect and then decide it would be better if I were on bottom. She could then crouch in front of the dash for some head. So we both get out and get back in properly. We continue makin out and getting going. She looks at me and says there isn't enough room here. So I told her what about the back seat. She said no, there isn't enough room. I told her bullsh*t. Watch. Kicked her out and we got in the back seat. Sure enough there was PLENTY of room.
So we're going at it and she goes down on me. Let me tell you, it's some grade A sh*t. Top notch.
I finish... and we look at the clock and she needs to get home. So we get out of the back and into the front and reset the seats and I noticed I didn't have my phone in my pocket. So I look around and can't find it. In the mean time I started the car and noticed that it connected to Ford Sync. I decided that since it connected and BT is very short range that it had to be in the car and I'd find it later tonight. So I pulled out of the parking lot.
Few blocks later I get stuck at a red light. It turns green and we pull away, no problem. I'm getting into third gear and we hear this kind of crash, boom, bang. Not too loud but definitely audible and defnitely can't place it. Christy starts looking at my navigation system and notices the screen says "Phone disconnected".
Oh ****.
I flip a biatch and make another pass, nothing. Rinse, repeat, 4 times. Finally found it. I put my flashers on and get out of the car and pick up my phone. Screen is absolutely shattered. I pick it all up and get back in the car and immediately start laughing. The phone is totally FUBAR'd. No question.
On our way to Christy's house I start laughing again and tell her to put it back together and see if it works. Sure enough it did. Screen doesn't display shat but it connects to Ford Sync no problem.
So, the cost of the evening was dinner and a TBolt... the VERY LARGE upside was some head worth remembering for all time.

T-Mobile sent me a G2x without the T-Mobile Branding.

Today, I received my replacement device from T-Mobile, and instead of having it say "T-Mobile" above the display, it says "LG". It's a P-999WD, and has the July 15 baseband.
It's not an issue, but I thought it was pretty weird. Now I have an Optimus 2x ;D

Nah, it was a Warranty Exchange, so no battery/cover were included.

Here in Canada we only get the non-branded black/grey ones

No back cover included for me either. Only difference is the "LG" above the display.

They're not exactly the same... They are however VERY similar. I'd say maybe they're more like fraternal twins than identical.

Hmmm... I'm going to pick my replacement up from UPS in the morning. Wonder if I'll get unbranded? Guess I'll post back here once I find out.

I actually don't even think they would know that you're not the original owner, unless you tell them. If you do warranty through T-Mobile, you'll have to pay a $20 fee, but if you have Premium Handset Protection, which is $7.99 a month, it's only a $5.00 fee, but it covers physical damage, and theft. Normally, you can't get Premium Handset Protection after 14 days, but they'll offer it to you during your warranty exchange. Also, if you have Premium Handset Protection, they'll give you FREE overnight shipping if you request it before 8pm EST.

He must be one of those little kiddies that mommy and daddy bought a expensive smartphone for. that is the reason for all this crap on xda now because everyone has a smartphone now including the assholes. For some reason they all seem to be gravitating toward the g2x and that is not to say all g2x owners are assholes but I also have the sgs2 and this **** just doesnt seem to go on there.

There has been all kinds of drama over there. From people being accused of kanging other roms and people getting banned to just general retardedness like that guy. It's bad all over the place. Kind of sad really.
I agree. I think most of it is kids getting on here and thinking they need to make a name for themselves and show how badass they are.

Picked my replacement up today and unfortunately it's still branded. Screen seems to be much better than my previous phone, even though they were both DWs. Oh well.

I suspect vzw also. And i wont buy anything other than htc for build quality alone. You can have those flimsy other phones with easy dev and updates, but htc makes great phones. I was sold when my dinc got submerged in water yet continued to work great for a year.

Well, from the looks of that post... They are saying that they are trying to get more information regarding the progress of the update from the "inside". Which, to me, that implies their development team. I could be wrong, but it's speculation. No word back after that last post I made...

I know other see it differently but the way I see it... that is a very corporate way of saying "go f*** yourself". I think they're just hoping we will forget so they don't have to push an update. Sadly enough the Photon 4G the first 4G Tegra phone for Sprint got that very sad news recently. I just don't think that HTC will balls up and tell us. /negativity

I'm starting to believe you're right after Motorola did this to Atrix owners a few days ago. I know it's a stupid dream, but I like to imagine that, in the future, some company will introduce a phone that runs AOSP and has chips with open-source drivers. What a cool gadget that would be.

Someone should start an online petition and make HTC / VZW put the update out !

Both are huge companies that are supporting several devices, with prime focus going to development for new tech. Think about it, the TB is an old cell, we were lucky to see the leak. How much money will HTC make by putting ICS on TB? Nothing.
IMO, we got one update and a leak for a 2nd... we should only hope for an update, if it comes.. cool. If not, either wait for a dev or move on.

There seems to be a lot of tension here, and people do need to understand that this is an old phone. We were the first to get 4g LTE, and we had to be the guinea pigs for the network so with some awkward hardware and a non-standard RIL. HTC still made an excellent piece of hardware that I carry without a case or even a screen protector, and I will admit, I've dropped it and it has no scratches and no chips in it. I'd buy a new HTC phone on Verizon if it wasn't for Verizon's new policies. Heck, I'd be open to buying a phone off contract so I get out at any time, but I'm not going to do it because I have to, and as a reasonable data consumer who does have unlimited I feel no reason to pay the same(actually, more in my case) for less. I use ~4gb per month on my own, which is certainly acceptable and is in no way excessive, and shared data will raise my bill. As soon as my contract runs out(or I finally get PO'd at verizon and pay the ETF) I'm switching to Sprint and I'll be purchasing the HTC Evo 4G LTE.
I am certain that Verizon wants people to get off unlimited, so they will deny any updates for the Thunderbolt, because the earliest buyers are conveniently eligible for early upgrades now. I know of somebody who went into the store to buy a new battery and they tried to sell him a new phone because his was supposedly still running GB(which is false, he had Liquid ICS installed, LOL) and it is an older version of Android.

That makes sense. As far as the new policies go, they are dropping the unlimited data plan for anyone who upgrades to a phone? I know someone who upgraded about a year ago, as well as switched over his phone to someone elses family plan and retained his unlimited data

Plus you have to pay the phone upgrade charge now!

Hey guys and gals! I'm itching for the new S4. I just opened a new 2 year contract back in December and I'm growing tired of my boring iPhone 4S.
Which also has warranty until December off this year.
I'm looking for a creative idea to help me pick up this wonderful phone. I thought about taking my mint iPhone into bestbuy for the "buy back" plan that they offer and possible add a line to my current plan but I don't want to lose my current phone number.
Do you guys have any ideas that could help me out?

EBay or Craigslist is your best bet. You can probably get $350ish for your 4S.

You could try swappa.com, which is partnered with XDA and a link is conveniently located at the top of this page :good:

Ebay is my "go to" when I want to flip one phone for another. I believe there is also a XDA "marketplace" somewhere on the forum, but I do not have enough posts to try it out or tell you how good it is.

The market place section of XDA was shut down several months ago because of the problems associated with users ripping off other users.
As mentioned above XDA has partnered with Swappa which is a wonderful site started by android enthusiasts for the community.
Swappa is nice to do business on because of the system of fail checks that are in place.
There is also craigslist and eBay. With craigslist I know a lot of people that sell their devices locally for more money than it would bring online, but it really depends on the market in your area.

Xda marketplace is no more, it's swappa, cell trader online or another message board. EBay scams you out of about 15% off your earnings as listing fees, and PayPal will remove 3%

i would def recommend swappa because the buyer pays listing fee and you only have to pay paypal fees. which ebay you have to pay thier 15% fee and paypal fees and shipping too which i forgot to add that to swappa. then cancel your contract and resign up with the gs4

Thanks for the replies. I just left an AT&T store and the guy basically told me he would set me up a new line and strip it down to a 10$ dumb phone plan and throw the s4 on my current line.
He was gonna take my 4s in trade which would have covered my cost for the new phone and since I'm a union member my activation fee would have been waived.
I was smiling till he told me that my brother has to be there because only he can add a line cause its his accounts. I'm authorized for everything but that! Lol

I know using the 4s as a trade is convenient but if you have the case pay the $199 for the S4 and sell the 4s, that phone is still selling for $350ish at a minimum in good shape. Just a shame to see money down the drain that doesn't have to be. I sold my Unlocked 4s about 2 months ago with a few otterboxes for about 450ish

I may go that route actually, and use my sgs2 till I can sell it. I have a small hardware glitch with my current iPhone that I plan on taking in for a warranty exchange. Adding a line sucks because my brother lives roughly 2 hours away so not sure how to work the details out ya know..

Thats the easy part, just have him go get it and ship it to you. Shouldn't be more than $6 priority. If he uses a normal bank im sure you have a branch close to you and you can deposit the cash to his bank account to pay for the phone for you.

My att store was able to call the account holder to add a line. He was not there with me.

Ask AT&T for an early upgrade. I believe it would be $450 for the Galaxy s4, and just sell your iPhone and pay the difference. Your brother could do the upgrade in store and have them ship you the phone for free. I did that for my dad with an iPhone 3GS before.

I really really want a Boeing Business Jet.
Back in December I bought a 1993 Toyota Corolla, Neon Pink, w/ 223,000 miles. It's also missing a wheel. And a door. But I manage. Only cost me $200.
What can I do to trade my Toyota for a Boeing Business Jet? I'm not against prostitution, blackmail, extortion, or murder. Anyone know where to start? I tried posting some "hitman" ads on a few darknets, but they all want to pay me with these silly "Bitcoin" things... and Boeing insists I pay for my new plane in cash, not digital coins.
Any ideas?! Please help. I'm really bored of my Toyota, and I really want a private jet.
And of all the millions of websites on the internet, I feel like this is the single most appropriate place to ask my question. Again, I know I'm sounding pretty whiny and entitled, but this is XDA developers, so I figured that's the normal.

Why Upgrade to an 4S in decemeber? That was horrible..
I upgraded to the Note 2 in December, I have a S4 coming tommrow Early Upgrade cause Ive been through 5 notes with the same issue.

I'm extremely glad you feel that way about my post. Don't like it? Hit the back button and troll elsewhere.
