Hi guys.
I have a problem, very strange problem with my tf300t and its behave.
I dont know what is the problem. It is launching programs (like gmail from widget or google play when in app tray) or dont let mi to launch notifications bar or unlock. Really i cant do nothing, unlocking or turning off/on wifi is very big problem.
First thing i did was turning it off. Than i turned it on and it still was launching things. I turned off wifi (it was hard) and whole transformer. Than after 15-20 min i turned it on and it was working normally. I thought that everything is ok, so i turned on wifi and after few minutes everything started again.
I think about flashing 100% stock firmware from asus website, cos i have root and deleted some apps.
Have you any idea what is wrong with my tablet? I didnt unlock bootloader so i still have warranty. I bought it 9 days ago.
PS. I asked the same question on transformerforums.com.

try doing a system wipe and see if that helps

Sounds like you had the same issue I did. It acted nuts, like I was touching the screen and opening apps. I had to send it back to Asus, it is an issue with the touch screen. If you have only had it 9 days, take it back and exchange it.
Exchange it while you can. That is not normal and could lead to bigger problems down the road.
Still Charged Up
So i think about exchange. Will they do it if i have root? Its hardware problem, but i dont know...
PS. Should I flash full stock rom from asus website before sending it to them?
EDIT: So I did factory reset, asked asus about problem on their Service's web and now i want to send it to them, but today is Sunday and I cant contact them via phone.

Hi. its me again. I tried to flash stock rom from asus website.
I downloaded .zip file, than extracted it to get next .zip file with blob and meta-inf inside, Than I copied it to sdcard and turn on transformer (with sdcard in it) using power+vol down, than vol up to go to RCK. It started to looking for rom .zip file but I got Android bot and red triangle.
What Im doing wrong? I tried 3 different sdcards (1gb, 8gb and 16gb)

OK, here's what happened.
1. I installed Infinity yesterday and right after reboot, after I signed in with my gmail account and went to market to download an app I normally use, phone automagically downloaded all apps I had previously installed and used all the time. All by itself, which was a pleasant surprise. There is one app that I seriously need as is, which is old Tunewiki, as it still has my free lastfm account on it. Took me years to build my station.
2. I had Humble on the phone before. It's OK, but kinda sluggish. Infinity was apparently faster. So, in my wisdom, I played with phone and found that power button also has CWM recovery feature on it.
3. Considering all the prestidigitation one needs to do to put phone into CWM mode with fingers, I "tried out" how it works - and it worked fine, got me into CWM mode in about a minute
4. Cool, so even in more wisdom, I re-booted phone from CWM mode.
5. After reboot, all my favorite apps and all new settings I did in Infinity were gone. It, basically, rebooted to stock Infinity settings.
6. Now, here's interesting thing. Those apps I was missing, showed in apps list, but not highlighted and with little SD card logo next to them. Basically, they showed as "we are on SD card, not installed". Yes, including my old working Tunewiki.
7. I reverted back to Humble from CWM back up. Everything went back to normal, just like it's supposed to.
8. Re-installed Infinity. This time, apps that downloaded themselves and installed themselves did not do it. I lost my old Tunewiki, lastfm free account, and Voodoo Control now says that phone needs to be rooted in order for it to work.
9. I am back to Humble. Everything works fine. Well, except that with Infinity, streaming was much faster and reliable.
10. I want to go back to Infinity, but I want my apps back the way they did it in step 1. Or, have them somehow re-installed from where they are now, which I assume is SD card, based on that logo next to inactive app. I must have old Tunewiki and Voodoo control working, the rest I can download and re-install.
Suggestions, in simple English, please, are appreciated. I am not a developer, please, do not toss "go to TWI, freeze JLK, twick GHV" at me. I am a simple vanilla phone user that was not born with all that wisdom.
Many thanks.
If you read the op of infinity you would see it is a know issue with the old version of cwm download the new cwm and entering wont cause a data wipe. No being rude but this is clearly stated in the infinity rom thread. To save yourself from a headache in the future dont install anything on your phone without atleast reading the opening posts of the dev.

How do I go from XXX to this ROM?
The fastest way to go to this ROM from anything is by downloading and flashing the ROM+Kernel on EXT4 package. That will format your partitions to EXT4 and then install the kernel and ROM. Note that this will wipe all of your user data in the process, so be sure to backup anything you may want prior to flashing.
Help, I restarted into recovery and lost all of my data!
This is an issue that affects people randomly. My opinion is that you can deal with it for the time being. I recommend using a good backup solution that doesn't involve recovery. I say this because I test ROMs and have had my data wiped hundreds of times due to testing over the past several weeks. If I can deal with resetting everything all the time as the developer, you, as the user, should also be able to make due until a permanent solution can be found.
So I do have a back up, except that it's Humble b/up and I don't know how to restore specific apps from it. CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions?
there was a saying back in my 'ol country: saving of a drowning one is the best business of the drowning one himself.
I have just updated to Infinity again, without any problems. But, this time, I updated with short ROM version, one that does not wipe all data and repartition everything.
Basically, all my programs and settings stayed preserved from Humble. All programs I was concerned about stayed untouched, but the rest of the junk is gone, just like I wanted it.
I guess, I can thank to myself for some creative thinking.
First, Lonnnng time reader/modder/hacker/technut, first time poster.
Secondly, my questions are: 1) Anyone else had such a positive experience as I did? And 2) Anyone else reproduce or trigger this ‘update’ in ICS?
Story below:
So I just purchased TF101 used, brought it home, and found out the long and hard way about the SOD/RR/DOCK/BATTERY/KERNEL issues that are plaguing a lot of users. So I researched for the past week (I'm a new owner), tried JB, ICS, etc, rom after rom. Still had same issues, and new ones (no wifi, sound, docking support gone, etc).
So, I went BACK to honeycomb 3.01 by flashing official update (WW version as I am in Canada) zip via CWM. I wiped cache, dalvik, data via CWM. Installed the zip. Tablet booted up perfectly. I did not sign into the google store. Turned tablet off completely WITHOUT being docked. Cold booted. Shut down. Used it for about 1.5 hrs, no reboots and could not repeat SOD/RR. However, HC is very slow compared to ICS. I then looked for the 3.2.1 update as it apparently makes the dock work correctly, and could never find it ANYWHERE (one rapidshare link and it was dead), all links were dead as the JP vers is the only one on Asus official site. 'check for updates' within the tablet did not work.
Next, I downloaded official xx.27 ICS off Asus website (around 253mB). Same procedure. wiped all cache/data/etc, flashed in CWM still (never put stock recovery as many recommended, didn't see the point). Booted tablet. Signed onto wifi, skipped signing in google account. Once in, turned off and cold booted back on. Used it for maybe 10 secs, and Asus updater pops up in task bar. The update had the same file-name of the update I just flashed however it had a July 27 date on it, and it was 302 mB (noticably larger than the 250~mB) update. NEVER saw this dialog before, even with my many attempts previously and all the different flashes/roms. Updater rebooted, installed itself (maybe 2 mins). I shut down completely once back in. Also, I still have not signed into my google account.
Following ICS update and shutdown, I then plugged my dock into wall outlet. I then finally docked (while off and for first time during entire process) the tablet, which then booted up. It immediately recognized the tablet, and made that ping sound confirming it was connected. Tablet booted up. I shut down, cold booted one last time. I then put it away on my shelf, lid closed. I opened this morning and 0 SOD or battery drain, which happened with EVERY SINGLE kernel/rom I tried for the past week. It would either SOD or RR. I left it open on 'about tablet' with uptime counter. It is still going. I checked various emails this morning, and ran some videos, etc, etc. Trying to reproduce RR/SOD. Usually it would occur within 10-15 mins of actually using it unit/being on wifi/etc/sleeping and waking.
I have a feeling that somehow Google is sending code (since you authorize OTA updates when you sign in) via being signed in that is somehow RR/SOD'ing (my theory), or there is some mysterious update I somehow triggered through this process. If anyone has reproduced this please let me know. But for now, this seems to fix battery drain at the very least, however I am running stock CPU clocks.
As i and many other are familiar with the RR/SOD troubles i have to say since i've updated with stock rooted .27 i haven't got the trouble anymore
Just checked and my transformer is still 86 % of battery capacity with an standby time of 1 day 18 hours
Before this update it almost always RR after using it when it was in standby mode again !
Ever since this update procedure my RR/SOD problems went down to near 0. I had one reboot in 3 long days of using my device, and that was from the stock browser. Which crashed before as well, anyways. I think this is a definite fix, which DOES NOT rely on external apps.
Not sure exactley how I triggered the update process. Please someone reproduce this 300~mB update that I triggered using CWM the entire update process!
Also, I have since extesively installed Google Play apps, and non-market sources. Not one crash, SOD, or RR. Dock work, charges excellent. Been using the unit for 2-3 days off and on with cbr viewer, movies n music playing, tonsof web browsing, etc. NO RR! NO SOD!
Hi all,
Has anyone experience some strange quirks after the latest upgrade by Asus.
I'm on 10.4.2, I think that's the version but I am going to include a screenshot of the system page.
So far the main issues are that the live wallpapers are being hidden behind a black background, but they are running. They show up immediately after boot but then get covered up.
The other more important issue is that I am having trouble installing app via manual apk install. And yes, have the setting check to allow for installing from sdcard.
However, I am working around it by: It seems if I attempt to quickly run the installation of the apk immediately after booting it works, if I wait until the system is totally up it won't.
I've considered that I have a virus, but not sure how to check for that.
I also looked at any apps that have anything to do with wallpapers or installation and I can't find anything. I really hate to do a factory reset, especially if the latest upgrade introduced those issues.
Again, I am not rooted and running stock of course.
Thanks!

If you are serious about considering the virus theory then you can download "Avast! Mobile Security" from the play store and run a virus scan though there
either, "A" virus "B" something went screwy with the upgrade some file got corrupted
Hey Guys -
I hope this is the correct forum to post this in - its the closest I could find...
After owning an Nvidia Shield (now "Portable") and loving it, I went ahead and purchased an Nvidia Tablet which came in 3-4 days ago. It's great except for that without the Controller (which is on Backorder ), you really can't do anything a standard tablet doesn't do.
Once updated, I rooted it and proceeded to install all the tools and apps I use. One thing I had always wanted to try out was the Modded Google Play. I saw that it had an installer so installed it and applied the modded version. Once back up, I had some difficulty with stability so went back to the original version installed (4.8.20.)
Since then, sometimes when I boot up, WiFi doesn't work and is disabled. I'm not saying I can't connect, but that it's in the "Off" position and greyed out to where I cannot turn it on! After a 2nd reboot, it would work again.
Yesterday, I rebooted and it was disabled again. This time, though, no matter how many times I restarted, it was still disabled!! I tried uninstalling / reinstalling Google Play a few more times as well as a few other reboots with no luck.
I will also say that I tried one more thing which may be the cause. I tried out Freedom to check it out, but it crashed when opening plus I found out it takes away functionality so uninstalled it. After uninstall, I found out the hard way that I had to rename my hosts file to get online working. At that point, though, WiFi would at least be enabled.
Any suggestions for what I can do? If I need to restore to OEM, I will - I just need to know the correct process as I am rooted. I'm on build KOT49H.20258_426.6902.
Thanks!
I had this happen when I first booted mine up. Then again when I unlocked the bootloader. I didn't do anything other then keep trying and it came on. It hasn't done it since.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up just performing a full reset and starting from scratch. At least I know what I want installed on it, now. That resolved the issue and it retained the root.
Thanks Guys
I was really worried about it, I chatted with nvidia support and they said to return it to the store. For whatever reason it started working, and hasn't done it since. I've seen a couple posts on it, so it might be a software bug.

i just got my note pro 12.2 wifi version (international) a few days ago and already experiencing problems, firstly the wifi was so slow so i updated it OTA to the latest stock firmware i can't remember what it is but it's the latest official 4.4.2 they have and that improved the wifi but now i'm encountering issues of rebooting randomly after using facebook app. it's always after i lock the screen it suddenly reboots after 2 mins or something especially if i have say been using a lot of memory for it.. ie if i scroll down 4000 friends that's when it always reboots once i lock the screen. is this liekly to be hardware or software issue or an app issue?
i have only had it a few days so haven't managed to play with it enough to test it to the max.
just now it rebooted and i played one youtube HD video and used multi window to use the facebook app (old version 7.0 - i like this version).. but i hadn't used the facebook app that much while on, the only thing i did different was i plugged in my samsung s3 charger into the note pro to test how long it would take to charge using a usb 2.0 connection instead. it's official charger official cable, is that likely to cause reboot issues?
previously it was just after using facebook for a long time for a ram intensive amount, i also tested it after reboot and using facebook a bit and locking screen and it didn't reboot so it made me think ok it's just when facebook is being used a lot and all the ram and memory is exhausted caching 4000 friends viewing so i didn't think anything of it.
is this likely to be hardware or software issue? are hardware issues ever the main problem with rebooting?
I know the usual tests, having to use odin to flash official firmware, trying a different facebook version, removing and not using facebook at all and see if it still reboots and lastly factory reset.
ideally i'd like to avoid all of those things as it is a major hassle and i can live with the reboot issue provided it isn't a hardware problem. is there anyway to test it to know for certain it is hardware and not software and the app?
edit: it keeps rebooting even if i dont use the app
seems to happen when i lock the screen sometimes it just reboots randomly.
anyone else have this?
You could try to remove that facebook app and see if that fixes the problem.
does anyone know what is causing this?? is it hardware?
i've factory reset removed all apps, then added one app at a time then added about 6gb of videos and added wakelock detector. all seemed fine
then i tried to unmount the sd card and then it rebooted.. why is it doing this??

Could it be a bad sector on the SD card? I'd long format it using a pc to be sure.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
it's not the faceboook k app i've realised now it just coincidentally seemed to be that as it is ram intensive.
i factory reseted and then put the app back on but didn't log in. 3 times it has rebooted by itself over different scenarios.. 1 plugging in a samsung usb 2.0 charger from a samsung s3, 2 when unmounting sd card, 3 when closing the screen when any ram intensive app is in the background (there's still like 500mb of ram left!! i dont know why it's rebooting like this.
i can't figure it out. is anyone else having these issues? im not sure if it's a kitkat 4.4.2 issue.. reading forums from other users with different devices i'm seeing the reboot issue coming up alot especially on the s4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/samsung-kitkat-systemserver-crash-fix-t2806046/page22
but i dont know for certain if it's a hardware issue.
my next steps which i really want to avoid is to factory reset AGAIN and not load any apps (the problem with this is it requires a certain amount of ram intensity to be used before it randomly happens.. if i dont add any apps like instagram or facebook or tumblr i can't get it back to the state where it reboots randomly)
i've also enabled all apps (i usually disable all the bloatware i can without being rooted) but it does bring up errors of android.core.process has stopped etc and some gapps errors (im hoping this is the cause of the reboot) and see if it reboots. it's difficult recreating the scenario consistently.
i udnerstand it might reboot if you've overused the memory but it clearly shows lots is free so i can't figure out what is causing it?
my next step after all this is to flash the latest version of stock so i can't put it down to the OTA updates that is causing it. if that fails i revert to odin to flash the original 4.4.2 it came with.. and failing that i'll have to return it
does anyone have any ideas whether it is hardware (maybe the power button is slightly off so when you press down it in a certain angle it triggers a restart?)
or is the motherboard or corrupted sector of the memory which when it writes over it causes the reboot?
i always assumed reboot issues were normally always firmware issues and not hardware.. surely samsungs quality control is a bit better than that??
If it were me I would yank the microsd card out, factory reset, set up just my gmail without allowing auto backup/restore and apply all updates. I'd then let the tablet run for a full day and use it just for web browsing and Youtube to see if the problem is still there. I would not install anything for at least a day, including the microsd card. This would be as stock as one could get and rule out the possibility of it being any software that I installed or the microsd that I was using.
I suspect it's software but the only way to know is to be patient and test it out for sure.

Hi,
same tablet, bought there is 3 weeks. I installed the latest firmware update (XXUANI1)
I rooted the tablet (to allow sd-card writing).
and that's it.
like some of you, I have random reboot.
I can't remember if it happened before the root or not. I think that yes, but I am not 100% sure.
I don't see anyone reported that the root cause random reboot...
it is really random. sometime, the tablet stay one night without reboot, sometime, I can have 3 reboot in one hour.
I don't find what kind of application is causing that issue.
I really believe that it is software. before the firmware update, I stayed 2 weeks without any issue.
I tried to reboot in recovery mode, and wipe the cache, without success.
I will probably try to do a factory reset...

Assuming you have custom recovery installed as well; have you tried wiping dalvic? It will force applications to recompile and possibly fix a corrupted application or its associated files.
Hi,
I just checke.…
I was thinking that the root method was not setting the knox flag, so i was thinking there is no recovery in the file flashed… .
I was wrong.
My waranty is void, knox is set. I still have no custom recovery : in the file provided by chainfire, there is a recovery which is probably coming from samsunG…
So i will install a new recovery and try to wipe all caches dalvik.etc.
Hi,
since my knox is set now :
I tried to install TWRP recovery, which allow me to do a wipe of the cache AND dalvik Cache.
it did not resolved anything. the tablet still reboots randomly.
then, I decided to restart from scratch :
I flashed the same firmware I had, using ODIN, and do not root it.
this is this firmware : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P900/XEF/
I will keep you updated if it solve the reboot issue or not.
thanks

Hi
I had the same problem and also thought it was the power button that was faulty but then I flashed the previous firmware then tried to use it a bit and no reboots since so I guess samsung released a new firmware that solved the slow wifi problem but then boosted it a little too much or so it seems judging by the reboots whenever there's too much overload.
So I guess for now I will stick with an older firmware
oops... it rebooted while I was surfing the play store so I guess I spoke too soon
