Please help..my Commtiva Z71 have some problems with wifi tethering / portable hotspot..
im using LEWA ROM LeWa-z71-12.03.23-OptiMod-signed, kernel : Kernel_2.6.32.9-EA_09012012 (CM7.2).. when i start turning on the portable hotspot with open security (without WPA2 key) it works fine, but when i turning on the WPA2-PSK encryption, my SSID cant be discovered by other devices..
i've already tried to wipe dalvlik cache, deleting wpa_supplicant.conf, but still the problems occure whenever i using WPA2-PSK key encryption..
i tried another ROM like LiGuX, and CM7.1_EAv7.2, still have the same problems..i once used a custom Froyo ROM, the portable hotspot works fine, but have some problems with screen orientation, at landscape mode the screen is always upside-down ...anyone know how to fix this wifi tether / portable hotspot problem?

Hello,
I've installed on my X8 Froyo Pro v01 for X8 (Revised from FroyoBread) from XDA-RK. The rom works fine except that im having a problem with the wi-fi. In his features he says "Wi-Fi "n" Standard enabled" and when i tried to connect to my router after the installation of the rom the router actually crashed! No connection was warking even with ethernet. I've tried this a couple times (by restarting the router) but without luck. What i did in order to make it work and connect to wireless is that i change the wi-fi in the router to use mixed mode for B/G devices. I was wondering if there's a way to disable the N setting in X8 or do something else in order to make it work.
Thanks in advance.
I've got an unexplainable (to me) wifi issue. When I'm at university I always use the WLAN function, wich is working fine. The network uses 802.1x EAP with MSCHAPV2. But when I'm at home it (my 1S) just connects to my WLAN but I can't receive or send any data via wifi (WLAN works fine on my pc). At home I'm using WPA2.
Before I switched to the 1S I had a Motorola Defy and never had any problem with the same configuration.
Has anybody an idea how to solve this?
Hello all-
I have an AT&T One X that is rooted and currently on Viper 3.1.0 and ElementalX2.0 kernel. Since I've had the phone, I've tried various ROMs (except stock) but cannot get my phone to connect well to the wifi at my office. We have two different Wifi connections, a WPA and a WPA/WPA2 encryption. My phone connects perfectly to the WEP connection I have at home, but the connection at work is slow when it works, and will eventually stop working as the day progresses. Sometimes, like today, it won't connect at all. I have resorted to staying on 3G but I figured I'd ask if anyone found a fix, or if there is a setting I am incorrectly forgetting.
Thanks in advance.

my LG P500 with CM9, CM10 (oxygen ics, slim,...)but can't connect ah-hoc wifi from my laptop
(except roms from CM9.1.x Builds by Hepphappy)
how to fix this problem?
if it detects your ad-hoc wifi try change hotspot name and security settings, first try with no password, free hotspot to see if it connects
Android doesnt support AD-HOC networks.
I connected my phone trough a laptop wi-fi hotspot made with a third party software, google it
Hi all,
I'm looking for a way of turning my droid device into a portable Hotspot but using my existing BT Connection.
Essentially, I connect to BT OpenZone to access the internet. I have other devices I want to connect to the internet but they don't have browser options to login to BT Openzone.
So is there anyway I can use my droid as a hotspot without using mobile data.
Many thanks.

You could try:
- installing BTWifi app to auto-login to BTWifi hotspots
- setting up Android wifi hotspot on your android device
- turning off mobile data on your 2G/3G/4G connection
- setting up your other devices to connect to the Android wifi hotspot on your device
- keep your device plugged in to the mains for as long as possible
If you are rooted and running a custom rom like CM11, firewalls like AFWall+ give you even more options
