Please help me getting the missing system apk!! - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
when I first received my tf300, I rooted it and installed titanium backup, and I used the titanium backup to remove some of the system apk, as I thought I no longer needed them. (I used to do this w/my samsung galaxy s)
However this action completely screwed up the firmware, I am still using .17 (ww) and couldn't upgrade the firmware to the latest version .30!
after some help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697283
I figured that I need to push the missing apk back to the system folder in order to upgrade my firmware.
So, if you have (ww) can you please get me the following apks from /system/app folder:
GenieWidget.apk
Kindle-OEM.apk
MyCloud.apk
PRAndroid.apk
PlusOne.apk
ZinioReader.apk
any help is appreciated! :victory::victory:

anyone?

hope this helps, i've had frustrating moments with android too!

thanks malamalaful, still looking for the rest of the apks:
Kindle-OEM.apk
MyCloud.apk
PRAndroid.apk
PlusOne.apk

[Request] DCSStock.apk

I failed hard when deleting some apps and I need a copy of DCSStock.apk for v3.26.651.6 deodexed. Any help is appreciated.
[Edit]
I found the file, just downloaded the ROM and extracted it from there. If anyone else needs it, I'll post a link in this post.
[/Edit]
Interesting... Why do you need the file? I've deleted ny from my ROMS once I noticed it always running and have had no issues.
I deleted about 13 apps at once, and I was getting sync stalls. So I wanted to find copies of all the apps I deleted and replace them one by one to try to find out which one was the problem. Turns out it was FriendStream.apk.
I've removed these so far with no problems, slowly working on removing more.

[MOD] Extreme deblur

Hello everyone, I've been playing with my defy on 2.51.1 blur for a while, trying to deblur it to the bone I removed a lot of stuff without messing with the standard phone operations like sms or mail sync, and I freed up almost 100mb of RAM.
Now I'm fine tuning my removal procedures but I'd like to start a sort of "mapping" of the remaining apps, in order to avoid renaming the wrong apk and finding myself with some broken funtions, which I'll probably discover in a month or so when I'll have forgot all my tweaks..
So here we are, the next list is the "non standard" apps I left untouched, mainly because I did not know what they do and cannot find any useful info online.
They may be "blur" or may not, so help identifying their usage would be good

Thank you all and sorry for the huge post.. hope it'll be useful to someone
just to clarify something, I know I left some blur apps in the "untouchable" list, but I did on purpose for different reasons. Sometimes an app is needed to properly use the contact list or send sms, sometime removing it made the phone really slow.. so I left them unrenamed
Well, as the APK's in the system/app folder differ depending on the ROM you use, this list might not be useful for all roms, but thanks for sharing, i hope this helped removing bloatware for many people.

I deleted blurhome.apk and found myself with 100% cpu occupacy all the time, as soon as I put it back where it belonged the cpu usage returned to normal so... not a good idea to remove blurhome, believe me.
as soon as I remove voice recognition I get an error popup which won't go away even if I reboot the phone, it keeps popping out, so voice recognition has to stay
quickoffice has nothing to do with blur, it's an application I might want to use, same for revolver and amazon. I mean, I DO remove them, but they're not blur related

I read a lot of comments about cpu usage removing blurhome, maybe it's different depending on the rom, I don't know.
Same story for voice recognition, I keep having that popup if I remove it.. but, no big deal, it's not blur related, I don't think it really slows down the phone
I'm more concerned about *moto* and *blur" apps/services
I'm using official froyo korea rom on my defy and it hasn't kodak perfect touch kpt.apk.
I want to install kpt.Anyone upload kpt.apk to anywhere please.
UgduiBill, voice recognition service always stay in memory, properly because of this, I removed it and I just never used this service.
fine for me.

Help uninstall bloatware from my FG8

I am curious where some system apps do reside. For example My phone has preinstalled "UCBrowser", Vimi and other useless applications for me.
I have the phone rooted but I can't find where they are installed! I also searched the 3.2.1 ROM by extracting system.img but the apps are not there. Where do they reside?
Thanks
If you're looking for the APK files:
/system/app
or
/data/app
However, you should use some dedicated tool to remove those preinstalled apps (in order to remove their data other than the APK).
Yeah, I've looked there, nothing. I tried many root uninstallers but no root uninstaller is able to delete the apps, they all say unknown error, cannot delete file please try again and so on. The applications are not running.
Similar but opposite case is with my alarm application, that one (also system app) uninstalled using root uninstaller, but I removed it by mistake probably as a part of some other application and now I can't get it back. Like UC browser I can't find it anywhere, this time looking in ROM image.
regarding the lost alarm app here are all "userdata.img" apps:

Its rooted and has busybox installed.
It should be noted, that these do not flash a kernel. When we get access to our boot partition, you'll need to flash a stock boot.img if you came from an AOSP-based rom. (Stock boot.img flashable via odin here (flash in PDA slot): http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/stock.kernel.tar )
CWM: zip
ODIN (unzip this first, flash in PDA slot): tar.md5.zip
Zip of the removed APK's (not flashable, you'll have to manually push these): zip
^^ make sure when adding these if they have an associated odex file that you add that too
EXTRA CREDIT:
flashable stock android apps (from cm9) (will remove their touchwiz counterpart): http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/stock.android.apps/

Thanks for this. Plan on flashing this shortly after I get my phone this week.
Excellent work!
The only question I have and didn't see in the OP was this:
According to Chainfire, there is a process that Samsung silently uses to check for root. This process is called com.sec.android.app.sysscope
http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/118/Triangle_Away_vs_Samsung/
Has it been disabled in this ROM?

clearly....... this rom is rooted..........
Does this have the notification area toggles removed? I'd much rather use a third-party app for that...
There are a few things on the list of apk's that I'd want to keep. Would it be safe for me to delete the ones on your list in Root Explorer though?
Also I swapped out the messaging app to CM9 version and email app to stock ICS already. Hated the Touchwiz versions.

You misunderstand...
This process does not PREVENT root, it silently checks in the background to see IF the user is rooted. If so, the process supposedly phones this data to Samsung's servers so that they know who is rooted or not.
I'm asking to see if this process has been disabled or not since it can still exist on a rooter ROM.

Is this as simple as swapping out apks? What CM9 messaging apk did you use? Did you have to mess with APNs at all?
Sorry for all the questions but I hate the stock messaging app. I've already deleted the email app and use Enhanced Email.
Thanks!

Yeah it was simple. Got the apk here. In Root Explorer, I just renamed the secmessaging.apk to secmessaging.apk.bak and then copied/pasted the Mms.apk into system/apps then changed the permissions, rebooted, done. It kept the current texts too and I tested sending/receiving sms & mms already.
This is great progress now all we need is the original wifi toggle back and Verizons stupid one gone

flashable zips are at the bottom of the op to accomplish these tasks
So, my understanding is...
1. I need to root and install CWM recovery first.
2. The CWM version and the ODIN version are the same thing, just one is designed for flashing with CWM and the other is for flashing through ODIN? So you pick one or the other? Is flashing through CWM the same process as on other phones? Put on SD card, select the CWM file, and flash it?
3. The zip of removed APK's is just in case we want them back? Otherwise, you don't have to download/install them?
4. After flashing CWM version, I can just flash the gapps and I'll be good to go?

1. yes, but you can use the odin image to accomplish this. it will flash this rom and root you all in one step
2. yes, yes, yes, yes
3. correct
4. don't need to manually install gapps, they are included since they were in the stock rom
Touchwhiz music.zip also adds myfiles, I didnt know if it was a dependency or not. Plus I, and other probably need to use it for USB-OTG cables.

Yes, it phones home.

[Q]Google Play No Connection On China MTK Phone

Hey, guys. I am not native English speaker, sorry for my English.
I bought a China Smartphone Haier HT-I860, technical details are here:
CPU: MediaTek MT6589
RAM: 1GB
ROM(eMMC): 4GB
Screen: 5 inch qHD(960x540) TFT screen
Cell network: TD-SCDMA / GSM and dual SIM card
Android version: 4.2.1
Kernel version: 3.4.5
I made a CWM recovery for this phone and flash Gapps (20130812 version from goo.im) into it. Everything works fine except Google Play. Everytime I click Google Play, it shows that "No connection, Retry". I am sure that my Wi-Fi network is OK. Other Google APP like Google Plus, Gmail, Google Voice Search works fine.
I have tried many method to solve this problem, like wipe /data and /cache, wipe dalvik cache, edit /etc/hosts, flash other version Gapps. All of these are *useless*. I think there are something wrong with this android build or library.
I have contact Haier customer service, they only send me a old version ROM. I tried and still have this problem.
I updated this ROM into Baidu.com. You can download it from http://pan.baidu.com/s/1dD3kWyH
If you want log or any other thing, please reply this post and tell me how to get it. I don't know how to get log or more.
Thanks

I have ran logcat on my phone, and got too many logs(about 10000 lines) to read. Here are logs:
But I found something interesting in logs:
Code:
E/DfeApi ( 1980): [1] DfeRequest.deliverResponse: Null wrapper parsed for request=[[ ] https://android.clients.google.com/fdfe/toc?shh=zen2II1nK1Sx2swLcCn16w 0xe8d195d1 NORMAL 12]
I search it on Google, find same problem like me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131790&page=131
http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?p=42588
Perhaps these problems are not solved.
4781 2688834
Still unsolved. Does any one have good idea?
I had similar problem with Coolpad phone. Here's what I did:
Edit build.prop file chaning language and location to en and US
Remove the existing vending.apk and what appeared to be google apks
Follow instructions in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874285
I'm not sure if the files provided in that link were the ones that worked for me or not, I found similar instructions across the net and downloaded a few different versions of google play, framework and login apks. I tried a few different files until one worked.
Don;t load the apps, save them in the system/app directory.
As outlined in one of the replies in the link above, edit the permissions for each of the files you copied and then reboot.
When I first did this, I kept getting various google... stopped working messages. I then went into app manager and reset the apps. This loaded some bloatware I deleted but after a reboot it worked fine. Now I'm freezing a few bloatware apps at a time to see what I can get rid of without impacting this.
One last thing I noticed was that sometimes when you load or unload apps, you need to give the phone a minute to configure itself. Don;t jump right into the app and get upset if its not working right.
