[Q] Key Dock lock - Asus Transformer TF700

I can't get the Key Dock to lock the tablet in place. When I slide the tablet into the key dock, it clicks audibly. I can, however, just slide the tablet right back out without so much as touching the lock slider. Can't find anything on that in the manual.
Can somebody please help me?
Edit: problem solved, please close thread, thank you. Turns out you have to slide the lock over to the right yourself, which is hard to do due to the slider not being broken in yet.

The dock should lock the tablet, so you shouldn't need to do that youreslf. Only if you want to take it out you need to touch the slider. At least that was the case with the Prime, which makes much more sense..

That's what I l thought, too. It doesn't lock by itself, though. Might have gotten a defective unit. Oh well, doesn't really bother me. Let's just hope I never ever forget to lock the pad lol

When I put the tablet in the dock, it clicks just fine and can only be removed when sliding the lock to the right. Might've been a defective one indeed. Best to go to the store and replace it with a good one while u can.

[Q] Can't unlock my DHD when the phone is laying flat on a table

Hi,
I got a DHD and for some reason I can't unlock my phone when its laying flat on a table.
I've recalibrated my sensors and still no change. The only way it unlocks is if I tilt it on an angle. This also affects games etc if its not on the correct angle.
(PS. This is the standard unlock slider on the DHD + not talking about the pattern unlock...)
Thanks in advance,
OGEZZY
cant unlock when slanted? you using pattern unlock or ??
Sorry I didn't explain it correctly.
I can't unlock the fone via the normal slider. This only occurs when the fone is flat on a table. If I put the fone on an angle or hold the fone in my hands I can pull the slider to unlock the fone without any problems.

This makes no sense whatsoever! The g-sensor has no effect on the lock screen... Have you checked the tasklist to see if there's any background apps which might be overriding screen input? I know Handcent can popup SMS notifications over the lockscreen... Maybe there's an app waiting for input, prompted by the orientation of the phone...
It's a long shot, though. Does it do the same on any other horizontal surface?
It has to do with how a touchscreen works. When you don't hold your phone in your hand and only use your finger to touch your screen it is less responsive. Mine does it too, it still works but i did notice it is less responsive.
Thats how capacitive touch screen works, they need a guiding ( electricity) true the body of your phone true your finger. It is less when not holding your phone.
That`s capactive touchscreen "issue". Holding phone in hand has better "ground" and touchscreen works better. Everyone has it

Yes I have same thing...
I had that. Calibrated my phone and it was a little better. Then after a while it was fine didn't come back. Forgotten about it until I saw this thread.

Did you already try a factory reset?
It is always worth a try when dealing with any kind of computer problems
Another possibility may be that you have sweaty fingers or some kind of fluid on them that makes the touchscreen unresponsive.
If it still doesn't work, you should probably contact HTC about it. You may have got a bad device.

[Q] Problem with Trackpad on Keyboard Dock

Does anybody encounter any freezing on the keyboard dock for their Transformer? I just got my keyboard dock today, and every time I hook up the tablet to the keyboard dock, the mouse pad works for some time and then completely freezes. I can confirm that the tablet is properly connected, because I can hear the firm 'click' of the button, and it goes from being in the unlocked to locked position. Do you think it might be an issue with charging? Does the dock need to be charged fully? Or can the dock function on the tablet's battery? Or is it just a plain ol' bug that needs to be ironed out by Asus?
Any help/advice would be appreciated!

My software is indeed up-to-date as of yesterday, to the latest 8.2.3.9 firmware. Considering that others are also having this same issue here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063853), it looks like a software bug to me, and a really annoying one at that. It essentially renders the keyboard useless after a minute or so.
Asus, please help!

The trackpad disable key is the 4th button from the left on the top row of the keyboard. It looks like a little trackpad with a diagonal line through it.

The dock freezes even after disabling the trackpad, which makes me think that its not an issue with the trackpad, but the dock itself. Nothing a firmware update cannot fix I hope, and soon. Come on Asus!

[Q] screen activation

1st, I'm spanish I'll try you understand what I say
I see that the tablet with the screen off (locked) can be activated without pressing the power button. Only need to put "near the dock"*
*making like you open the tablet+dock, but is not needed that the tablet was connected with the dock, I dnt know if someone else was noticed that... but I'm a bit curious about that and i want to know how its work? (magnet?, gyroscope?, magnet+gyroscope?) if someone knows it
and I say it to other people that dnt now this, THANKS
SOLVED MISTERY!
Like some says here its a magnet near the backspace key, exactly the "¿/¡" key
here is a really good cover mod idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507548 thanks to MrNago
nobody has any idea?
I think there is a switch in the hinge maybe? Seems that would be the easiest way to have the screen turn on while opening the lid while its on the dock.
I test one more time and I noticed that the system is only at the right side of the tablet and dock, like u see in this image. And its not needed any contact, but it need tablet and dock really near.
I think is a magnet system, but i havent any magnets at home to make a try...
edit: i have an error in the image, looking the camera i can see that the tablet is in the wrong side, we must see the camera down. Not at the top like in the image xD
ww.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6dKsGJ4VY
I see nothing in this disassembly to make this activation, this is curious, i want too know how it works
turning on via opening.
i tried looking using a magnetic viewer screen there are several places in the screen and in the keyboard that show magnetism, on the screen the two speakers are the main places and in the keyboard below the backspace key is quite strong as well.
i tried replicating the action using a strong magnet but i could not get it to work only when help above the keyboard does it work so there may be more then one place it looks at, i will try again when i have more time and then post results.
Interesting discovery! I don't thnk anyone actually tried this, though many speculated there were magnets in the base, many users said (and I agreed at the time) that the mechanism to wake the device was located in the hinge, though having a function like this actually does make more sense than an actual hardware switch that could fail at some point.
You should make a video and I will add this information to my epic noob thread!
thanks for replies, i tried with a small magnet without results, and try in other positions with the dock and negative results too...
I'm sure that the magnet of the backspace key its the "switch" or one of them, they are 2 maybe....
Guessing here, probably not just a magnet, maybe even an RFID chip of some sort..
Its a magnet that does this. Don't doubt. Believe. Removing the magnet and putting it back in is part of my hard drive soldering procedure.
it is a microswitch in the hinge, all experimentation I have done supports this, the only thing left for me to do is pull apart my dock and take high res pictures of the microswitch seeing as you all seem to need proof of it

Stevie, i did think so as well, but the device will wakewhen placed on the dock and removed even if it is not affixed in the hinges and even if the hinge does not move, i don't think you are getting what poster is saying, i will make a video myself and post to demonstrate.
HERE
Thereis also probably a switch in the hinge as well for sure, but this does seem important information, wonder what the mechanisms in the body of the tf are..i enjoy solid state switches like this
Oddly enough this is confirmed using Paul's ICS and my dock not connected. Totally bypassed the lockscreen. Held it as close as I could for about 5-7 seconds then on came the screen. Tried this at least 10 times (five of which I just was amazed) and everytime opened right up. Nice catch:thumbup:

You guys are right, there is some kind of magnet. For those that doubt it, like I did, try this:
First off, undock the tablet, so that you have the 2 items apart.
1. Lock the tablet, so that the screen is off.
2. On the dock, rotate the hinge outwards, so that you can put together tablet+keyboard without docking.
3. Actually put them together, so that their position is exactly the same as docked, except they aren't.
4. Screen should turn on. Mine certainly does!
Edit: as you can see, there is no connected circuitry between them and the tablet is waking up. Don't know about locking though, but I hope this gets things clearer and Modding nearer!

Hi.
No, there is no such function on the TF700.
The 7" Nexus tablet has it, but not this one.
For the Galaxy Note with a Flip Cover, we can to use the sensor of light and/or sensor of proximity to obtain the same result of Smartcover.
You must install the app Power Switch and it's work.
I think or i hope it's okay with our TF700 ... what do you think about this ?
i actually think thats a really good alternative...gonna look into the lite version when i get home...

I don't need a magnet. All I do is close the case with docked tab and it sleeps. Wakes when I lift the lid.

This app is VERY impressive, thanks for the suggestion. My friends' jaws dropped when they saw it in action. Silly iOS users.
Need some help
I installed Awesome on off ultimate on my Transformer Infinity, but have some problems. The only way to turn screen off is to press the Screen off icon. No gestures or flings will turn it off. Tilting the Tab turns it on ok.
When I pick ut the Infinity to bring it with me in a bag, the screen turns on by accident, draining the battery
What can I do to turn the screen off with gestures, including those needed to turn off the screen more permanently so that I have to turn it on with the physical on/off button?
Thanks

Incorrect.
There IS a magnet sensor on the tablet to turn the screen off when the dock is close to the screen. The magnet is on the right side of the keyboard dock, sort of beside the touchpad and under the menu key.
Problem is that sensor only gets activated when the dock is connected. Maybe there is a way to trick the tablet to think the dock is connected and enable this sensor. Sure would be handy to have a magnetic screen off switch on sleeves.

Could I ask how do you know this? Is there a way to check the presence and state of such extra sensor. In the kernel source there should be something.
I'll be able to confirm if the dock has a magnetic sensor in a few days. I have a magnetic stylus that I just got a few days ago that should be able to trigger the sensor if it's there.
What I can say already is that there is definitely a magnetic spot in the location described, to the right of the trackpad and below the menu key. My stylus holds on very well there. I had the tablet on the entire time though, so no chance of accidentally seeing any sensor behavior. Would check now, but I'm away from home for a few days and I forgot to bring the stylus with me.

To test it, it's simple. Put a magnet on the screen at the position corresponding, on the dock, to the one described by pileot and you ll see that the screen will switch off.
As pileot said, unfortunately, it only works when tablet is docked.

I have Apex Launcher installed. For my down gesture, I have it set to launch "Lock Screen App" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kennethcheng.com.lockscreen.free&feature=related_apps#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwOSwia2VubmV0aGNoZW5nLmNvbS5sb2Nrc2NyZWVuLmZyZWUiXQ.. Also, do you have set for the display to go to sleep? I noticed if I carry my tablet in portrait mode, the screen doesn't turn on. Maybe you can give that a try. Hope that helps.
I'm not understanding how to turn the screen off with ultimate on. What icon do I press. I press the one in the notification bar and it takes me to the ultimate on menu. It doesn't shut the screen off.

Just sent grandmaster an email if he can make a setting for us without a proximity sensor. Use with tablets. We should be able to set the tablet down for a couple of seconds and the screen should shut off. Maybe even give us a choice on how many seconds before the screen shuts off. I would like 3 second delay the off.

Several things. First, i have taken the dock apart (to ad pennies into the front of it to make it heavier so it tips over less) and noticed the magnet. Second because if you take a paperclip or other light, metal object and place it about 1 inch to the right of the touchpad and about 1 inch below the keyboard it will stick. Third, when the tablet is DOCKED you can put a magnet at the right spot in the screen and the screen will turn off.
Problem is it only works when docked.
,has anyone tried to use a magnet to sleep the infinty with the transsleeve locked in instead of the dock? Wonder if it just has to have something in the slots for the magnet to work.

Don't know if someone is interested in this, but due to this thread I was able to locate the hall sensor position of my TF701T. Obviously it is the same as of the TF700T. Without anything docked I am able to put the TF701T to wake and sleep with a little magnet.

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread but there is a solution for Eroc162 turning off the screen with a jester. It's called Screen off and lock. If you have the swipe to search button and don't use it this app will use that jester to turn off the screen. If you are like me and have flashed KatKiss KatshMallow 6.0 (Marshmallow based ROM) you can use the onscreen widget . Works great!

you probably disabled the trackpad on the keyboard. Look for the button on the dock that enables it again.
On the keyboard: Top row, 4th button from the left. Has an image of the touchpad with a / through it printed on it. Hit that.
Yeah I disable it when I'm typing on the dock for an extended period of time. Helps to not have my wrist causing the cursor to jump around in a document as there isn't any wrist detection of the touchpad to ignore it.
Lol well that's a relief I didn't even know there was a button to disable it ago I feel dumb but thanks guys
