Hi all,
I am in the process of helping my friend purchase an android phone. I'm not the best in decision making and since he is on At&t and I am on Verizon there is not a whole lot I can help him with... So I'm asking for recommendations on the best phone out there on At&t at a price no higher than $50 (refurbished is okay) This will be his first android phone and id love to get him to join the community but his concern is that he doesn't want the phone to be obsolete after a year (because he is signing a 2 year agreement) and doesn't at the moment want to flash any custom ROMs, but i may be able to change that.
Thanks in advance!

He could try to go with the Galaxy Nexus or wait a bit for the GS III. Not sure about the prices though.
ZTE Blade or HTC Desire

I would probably wait for the HTC one X or maybe the Galaxy S3 sort of next generation smartphones
My contract is almost up and I've been looking at phones, both upcoming and current. I'm also on att now.
My current phone is the Samsung infuse and I've been using many ROMs on that device. I've been looking into the HTC one x+. It has amazing specs. Also the gnote 2 is incredible but it may be a lil too large for carrying around.
I've never had a HTC phone but I've heard the ui is a little bit different. Samsung has touchwiz, but that can easily be changed though flashing ROMs. Is HTC sense something that is a love hate type of deal? I'm sure the development support will be great to fix that.
Just wondering others input. Been researching.

In addition, from what I've read, the x+ doesn't have an SD card slot but has a 64 gig model. I use quite a bit of storage, but I'm sure the large model will be quite spendy.

I enjoy sense on HTC but I know some people hate it. Definitely don't think its the worst custom UI out there

It depends on your budget. If you've got a fairly large budget and looking to get a fairly new phone with great features and future support and updates then I'd either go with the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Nexus, or the new Nexus 4. I have the Nexus S and it runs great, recently updated it to 4.1.2 Jellybean.
Remember it's all about your budget and if you're the type of person who likes to flash ROM's and whatnot.
Hope that helped,
Regards,

This helped me even more, thx bro, and yeah Gnexus is cheap and good, the nexus 4 is even better than the gs3 and gnex, but scores low in the benchmarks, so I think a food option is the gnex

Welcome,
This is the most slim and pretty HTC phone with powerful cpu and camera.
However, first you will need to check whether it is z520e(s4) or z560e(s3) on your box. If it's a s3 one, just return or sold it and get a s4.

Hi my brother wants a new phone he has 350. What ia the best Android phone unlocked for that price?

Try asking for sony prices I think they have mid-range phones that has a good price and a good build quality
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2
try some china manufactured phones
Chinese phones can be great for what they are if you find a reliable seller, but I wouldn't really recommend them due to lack of development support and often a lack or warranty and help if anything goes wrong. I think they're better suited for people who already have a phone and want an extra to play around with.
Hi I check prices on amazon and the HTC one and the galaxy mini are those good options algo for 300 the nexus 4 is a very good option :screwy:

Lmao galaxy mini? You're joking right? The HTC One is pretty much the best phone on the market right now (not even close to mid range) and the Nexus 4 is easily the best phone in that price bracket.

To be honest I haven't try a Samsung device yet
But after my experience with my htc sensation I think it is a bad idea to have a htc device :banghead:
Or isn't it?

I would say go for the nexus 4. You always have the latest android and this for a long long time, for the price you get some good piece of phone (hardware wise). One of my friends also has one and hes really happy with it, he never had any problems.
Agree you will never gou wrong with any nexus product ant nexus is the first device that gets all latest rom updates.

Depends
Depends on what kind of phone he wants.
I wanted a galaxy note a year back and bid one from ebay at 350!

The galaxy mini is a budget phone and performs awfully. The HTC One is above the price range but has received ridiculously good reviews across tonnes of tech sites, including my personal favourite pocketnow.com (where it got the highest score they have ever given a device). In the price range the N4 is the best device available IMO.
Nexus 4, gets the latest software updates and its cheap. Performs well and functions like it should with a big development support.
