[Q] OrDroid 9.0 Wi-Fi Tether Solluion..Please... - HTC Sensation

Heyyyy...Guysss
Anyone is having the solution for Wi-Fi Tethering in OrDroid 9.0 ???
Please suggest me something...I'm heavy user of Mobile HotSpot....

Wifi Tethering is broken in Ordroid, Just change ROM if you really need it.
Or wait for shnizlon to fix it

No need to change roms! Please use wifi tether from the playstore it works perfectly! Yes it works with ordroid! Its all in the settings. It goes as follows, always power off device remove battery place back in power on each routing session that said here are the settings, make sure routing fix is checked, disable wake lock. Check set up wext ad hoc, device profile, generic ics, DNs, 8.8.8.8, lan,192.168.2024, transit power disabled, you are good to go.if it starts with a error, just do the power off battery pull. You will have tethering again. Its a free app in the playstore called wifi tether. Hope I helped! Happy tethering

Moving to ARHD for sometime....

Yes it's a pain but hey, at least it works and you can tether, better than not tethering at all I'd say ....

You should try another Rom . Ordroid will not be getting any updates. It is finished. However its developer moved to team venom on viper Rom.so perhaps give viper a try . Hope this helps.

Ordroid isn't supported anymore. Flash ViperS ROM instead.

Wifi Tether

I followed Attn1's root guide with success. The only problem I had was that the built in tethering app wouldnt work for me. I pulled android.tether_25.apk from my rooted custom rom evo 2.2.1 and installed it in my rooted Inspire 2.2. After installing and running it once then stopping it (ok'ing all the super user prompts, I restarted/not powered down the phone). So far so good. I thought I would share. Use at your own risk.
I haven't had any issues with the WiFi Hotspot on my phone after rooting, but one thing to try is setting the WiFi channel manually, instead of letting it set it automatically. I had to do that on my N1 when using the DesireHD/DesireZ roms.
To manually set the channel, go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings, setup your network as you want it, then press Menu and go to Advanced. Hit Wi-Fi channel and set your channel then go back.
That may or may not help. Again, mine seems to be working fine and I have my channel set to Auto, but it might help someone somewhere
Just tried it. Worked like a charm.

WiFi Tether for CM7

Anyone know where I can get a working WiFi Tether apk for CM7? The one I have from CM6 isn't working.
The stock tethering app works fine for me
Why wouldn't you use the built in hotspot? It works great.
You just need to use the built in hotspot, under wireless settings. You have the same features, can change the ssid, and password encrypt it. I'm using it right now.

use the built-in tether app. To make it really easy add it to a PowerControl widget (add widget to screen, select "Portable WiFi Hotspot" from the list of options).
If you don't want to use it, the other best one (in my experience) is called something like "Wireless Tether for Root Users"
Just use the built-in option under wireless settings...
Or check THIS page
Lol poor rickballer

I don't know if this has been mentioned but the stock hotspot iis pretty nasty. I suggest that
When I try and enable the built in Portable Hotspot it immediately deselects and says "Error." Any ideas?

This. Thanks for the help guys and putting up with a lame thread.
Not lame for asking a question. You could have posted this in the development section.
Sweet, looks like restarting helped, my 4G speeds still sucks though in this area, i restarted and threw 4G and tethering on and tested my speed on my ipod touch and got .32Mbps/.21Mpbs and my battery was draining 1% per minute, lol.
Running CM7-n#14
I love the built in tether, but is there a way to make a widget for it? I'm just lazy and don't like having to jump through menus haha.
Its built into the power control widget.

widgetsoid makes just about every setting option as a widget.
Will I get charged by Sprint when using the stock CM7 tether capabilities?

Elegancia 3.1.1 apn

I flashed this and it's great but claims to have free tethering but when I turn it on it connects but doesn't let Internet pass through. Should I use a downloaded tether app like open garden or does the htc hotspot work for anyone else?
Thanks ahead of time.
No mine does not work but its a known issue with ordroidn but I'm tethering again thanks to a wonderful app called WiFi tether. At first I thought it doesn't work but found out it was my settings that were incorrect. Once I got the settings correct I was up and tethering in no time! It's a great App! If you need help with settings just let me know and I'll help! But this application really works! I'm finally tethering again! I'm so happy! You might want to try this app if you want to tether, remember get the settings right and you will be tethering also in no time!

I tried that app, didn't work for me.
What setting did you use?
I tried what was mentioned in the app description off the market.

Settings for working tethering app, WiFi tether. Here you go.

WiFi tether free from the play store. Power off phone, take out battery for three seconds, put back in power up do this each tethering session. Make sure routing fix is checked, disable wake lock, use channel 11, check set up wext ad hoc, device profile generic ICS, DNS 8.8.8.8. ,Lan 192.168.20 24, transit power disabled. SSID Android tether. Then you should be good to go. If you get a error message, power off , remove battery, wait 3 seconds, put battery back power on you should be good to go! I've found this app working perfectly in 3 out of four different Roms I've tried. Hope this helps and happy tethering!

anychance it'll work with the Netd (master) setting? I have another android phone that i want to tether as well as my pc, and I know that androids don't do adhoc networks....
I'm not sure but I got this WiFi working with wext ad hoc, network. If you follow the above settings it should work for you.it worked in 3 of 4 sense 4 roms. It didn't work with the imagination Rom. Same settings . I know that sense 4 has trouble tethering but so far its been working wonderfully.works on ordroid too. Give it a shot. Works for me and I
Wanted to possibly help others who were trying to tether

192.168.20.24 isn't that an ip adress ? If so i wouldnt post it here lol..
Swyped From My Sensation.
It's the ip for an adhoc connection between phone an pc. There's a whole bunch of presets in the app. Posting them here doesn't matter.

For those trying to tether earlier Android versions, Gingerbread etc, I found the standard wifi-tether app wouldn't work.
Instead I found 3.1 beta 11 on the web, then simply changed the device-profile to Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE).
It works perfectly and no need to reset or battery pull either.

I'm running Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0.0 and tried the above settings several times with no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Power profile (wifi / BT / etc.) toggle

I was wondering if it was possible to set up different profiles for what is turned on at certain times instead of having to pull down the quick settings and select each toggle every time.
I would like to have mine set up to do this:
Home - Wifi On, BT off, GPS off, wireless network off.
Car - Wifi Off, BT on, GPS off, wireless network on, pandora started, app remote (from sony) started.
Work - Wifi off, BT off, GPS off, wireless network on.
i found this thread where somebody was looking for something very similar but i'm sure something else has come along since '07: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300605
thanks for any help
Which ROM do you have? If you have albino's 4.2.2 ROM you can go into settings and set your profiles to whatever you like

thanks, i'll have to check that one out. for right now, i have installed smart wifi toggler and i am just manually toggling bluetooth. i also tried profile scheduler and it had good intentions to do everything i wanted it to do, but it seemed buggy.
