[closed] to xoom or not to xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i should mention that i have already purchased my Xoom, so no further replies are needed. thanks to all who have and helped with my decision to buy a Xoom. i love it!!
that is the question...
ok, so the Nexus 7 just came out with JB and now the Xoom is scheduled to get it as an OTA as well, so should i get a Xoom (this one on Amazon http://amzn.to/LG6XAm) or the Nexus?
also how can i tell if im getting a US Xoom and not an Asian or UK one?

well, if you want a small screen, get the nexus. if you want a bigger screen, get the xoom.

well yeah that goes without saying. i think i would be happy with either one really. we have a kindle fire as well, so im leaning towards the xoom
there is also the new chromebook to consider
but back to the xoom, i keep seeing asian models and uk models and canadian models, how do i know im getting a us model and does it really matter?

Not sure if that matters. If you are in the US and you are ordering off Amazon, you should be getting the US one. I ordered mine refurbished from Amazon a few months ago and I have to say, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I think that the Xoom is still the best android tablet there is. The nexus is also going to be awesome so it really comes down to what you prefer in screen size.

i saw a couple of refurbed ones as well, remember who you ordered it from? and thanks for your reply, and with the xoom upgradeable to jelly bean, thats a plus too, that means it isn't irrelevant yet

Picked up mine from Tiger Direct a few months ago, not sure if they have any left now. Was a US version, spent the first 20 minutes rolling through also of the updates to be from Honeycomb to ICS 4.0.4. Amazing tablet, glad it's on the hook for JB.

I would definitely go for the Xoom if you want a larger screen. Just can't beat the screen size.

Wow.. everyone keeps talking about screen size..I could care less about that.
How about
ONLY 16 GIGS OF MEMORY!1
WTTTFFFFF
Seriously.. With todays programs/pictures/videos how they think 16 gb is enough is beyond me..
No expandable memory, for obvious reasons, MAJOR MAJOR FAIL!
Cloud or not, when I go away for business/vacation my tablet is what I bring, I load it with movies, apps, business files and so on.
16 gigs is a few movies these days, not including apps, or even jellybean itself.
So disappointing what google did, it's something Apple would do

i think you are referring to the new Nexus7 and the reason they have only 8 or 16 is to compete with the kindle fire which only has 8. so if you look at it that way and can get twice as much as the Fire for 50 bucks more, i would get that and probably will, but im leaning towards the Xoom anyway...do i really need a quad core processor?

Honestly, I'm on an 18 hour car ride right now with my Nexus S 4G in between my legs tethered to my WiFi Xoom switching between games, videos, Reddit, Tapatalk 2, and twitter, and dual core feels snappy smooth! I doubt most people need dual core, much less quad core... My NS4G is speedy on a single core 1GHZ hummingbird processor. Also, I think the quad core is at 1.3 GHZ and Xooms are set at 1.2 GHZ and can be overclocked even if necessary. The 0.1GHZ doesn't feel much different on my friend's TF Prime. I think the spec really is dead and quad core is but a buzz word. Decide based off everything else before you make something you prolly won't even use a determining factor. Either choice is great and both are easily hackable, so go with whatever you want more! At the end of the day, back camera, double the space, a bigger screen, Motorola durability (although ASUS is good as well), the full tablet UI (not the 7's ugly half phone half tablet UI), and the fact that it has a microSD slot make it a winner to me. Good luck deciding!

Search the Xoom forum for the how-to to flash US firmware onto your Xoom. It is the wifi model, right? If you have stock US firmware, you can get upcoming OTA. Actually, our devs will get you a better, more functional JB version in no time, so why bother with US firmware anyway.

actually xoom2.. but i m little bit confused on some sdpecs, especially the microsd issue..does it or does it not support microsd? i have find many references that supports that there is no microsd..while others support that there is..!?!?
also, do you have anyplace to recommend to buy from? (europe)

Simply put, the Xoom 2 does not, I repeat, does not have a microSD card slot and thus does not support it. At all.
The Xoom 2 is an abomination that no one should buy.

^^^lol
yeah the Xoom does have a microsd slot but you will need to upgrade it. my wifi was of the Asian persuasion so i had to get the US wifi firmware from the motodev site. once that was installed and i did all the OTA updates, the microsd slot works. actually i think it works when you hit HC 3.2
dont really know much about the Xoom2 or the Xyboard, but you can fond those specs on the motorola site
as for my Xoom, i have Codename Android 3.3.1 (JB) on it and I love it

I recently had to send in my Xoom to Motorola for some hardware work, got it back wiped and on 4.0.1. Its been a long time since I have been on honeycomb, but I figured since I had a 100% wiped device, I'd flash my old stock images of 3.0 just to remind myself of how bad it was.
Reflecting back, honeycomb should have never been released to the public. It was terrible and definitely a beta product.
To my main point though, I went ahead and flashed an older recovery that only supported internal sdcard, after reflecting on how bad 3.0 was, planning to move a backup from my sdcard to the internal memory and then restore the backup. And then I was reminded...Android 3.0, the first iteration of Honeycomb, didn't support the sdcard yet. I ended up manually taking OTA update so I could get sdcard support, transfer the backup and then restore it (have since flashed TWRP).
Anyway, while I love my Xoom, its deployment last year was horribly rushed and it shows. The Xoom was plagued by a poor display (not IPS), no sdcard support on launch, beta level software, horrid marketing and silly prices.
And thats the end of my rant concerning the Xoom's history. I'm glad we have such an awesome community to support this thing; to be honest, if it wasn't a GED, I don't think we'd be so lucky.

For the price $400 .. it's not worth for Xoom - almost 2 years old device and may not receive future updates.
I recommend you to buy N7 or if you want bigger screen , find a refurbished Xoom on ebay (about $250 , I'm using one and everything goes fine.) or maybe Asus Transformer 1st gen.

maybe you should have read through this thread first. i already purchased a Xoom ($360 on amazon and well worth it), installed the U.S. wifi firmware from MotoDev which allowed me to get all the OTA updates to Jelly Bean, unlocked the bootloader, flashed a recovery and now am running custom JB roms
love my Xoom and glad i got it

[Q] Why the Xoom?

Hey everyone,
I'm considering a wifi only tablet for my birthday (April 23rd), and naturally the now popularized Motorola Xoom popped into my head as a first choice. The question is, is it already being trumped? I've heard of numerous other Honeycomb tablets coming out that have equally (if not exceedingly) impressive specs and similar pricetags, such as the Acer Iconia and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
All in all, I want to know, what makes the Xoom worth it (if it is worth it)? Why have people been eating up this tablet in lieu of other impressive competitors around the corner?
I've never owned a Motorola product before, so if someone could elaborate on the quality of their products, I suppose that would help in deciding as well!
Thanks for your input in advance.
EDIT: Please, no one suggest the iPad; if I had any questions concerning that toy, I could just walk into the nearest coffee shop.
Buy what you can and when you can. Technology waits for no one. It might be the best now, tomorrow who knows.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Live for today....
I agree, sure there will be better ones that come out and they probably will be cheaper. But the xoom is here now. Even if I knew the samsung was going to be just as good and half the price I would not wait 3 months with no tablet to save the money. I guess it depends on your financial situation but frankly if you are worried about your finances you probably should not get any tablet as it not something really anyone "needs". But even though I don't need it, if I lost mine I would buy a new one the same day to replace it. It depends on what makes you happy, the xoom makes me happy so its a easy decision for me, regardless of how others may think of it.
Every day I have it it just gets more and more useful and enjoyable for me. When netflix hits its going to better, when more tablet apps hit its going to be better, when os updates come out its going to be better, the future is still pretty bright for the xoom even though new tablets are coming.

Good thing is you have choices! LG Moto Samsung. I personally wouldn't trust LG or Acer. There is no telling when or if you would receive updates and accessories. Motorola and Samsung would be my front runners. The Xoom is here now and you can read through the forums to gage how well people like it. Samsung is a little ways away but cheaper with similiar specs. I can't wait so its Xoom here.
Do your research and weigh the pros and cons of each device. Decide what features you find more important and make your decision based on that information. We could tell you all day long which device we would buy but its all about personal preference. You gotta carry thing around for 6-12 months not us.

I would go to a best buy and play with the xoom for a while. get a good feel for the hardware and see if you like the size of the device. You mmay find it too big or heavy. From what I hear about the Samsung galaxy 8.9, it may be the one to get in a few months. The LG to me is priced too high and wouldn't dare think about getting a tablet on contract. Acer and some of the others have been unproven and will have to prove something if I'm going to chose them over the competition that has built a good reputation with android over the last few years.

no point in waiting. By the time Samsung gets here, there will be another even more impressive tablet coming.
It is similar with me and when the Nikon D300s came out. I was puzzle on should I get D300s or wait for D400 or maybe something else.
Look at this way, I got the Nikon D300s...was able to play with it and took all those great pictures with it, that I would not have been able to during that period of me waiting.
So, either buy the Xoom now and enjoy having the use of it...or wait until price drop and think back of all those days you've lost not having the fun of having it. What makes it worst to wait, the minute you buy it...it either get discontinued or replace with something better. Technology waits for no one. Get it while it is hot.

From what I have read I would say that the xoom still has the better specs. Maybe I am missing something but the pricing is similar, run the same processor and ram, same screen Res and size (although I am sure samsungs screen is more vivid), and both have micro ad slots. The xoom however has 3g (upgradeable to lte 4g which is worth the price of admission right there if you ask me), is unlockeable and most of all isn't running a horrible skin like touchwiz. I can guarentee the developer support will be greater for the xoom than any of the Samsung tabs. The only spec I see that is slightly bwtter than the xoom is the screen and the 8.9 should cost a little less and have a little better pixel debsity. Oh and the Samsung tabs are a little lighter but that is a complete non issue to me. If you want a Tablet that will.never get upgrades and run a horrible laggy, cartoony, iphoney screen then get Samsung. I still think the xoom is by far the better Tablet and won't be trumped until quad core kilel (did I spell that right?) Processors are released.
I have had the xoom since release and I actually pay to have data plan so I can't comment on wifi only (and who can it's not out but from what I have seen it is the exact same just missing support 3g/4g chip. I personally want/need 4g so I purchased put right, but for most wifi will work fine. You can always go.month to month and the extra 200 to me was much worth knowing that one day Verizon lte will be powering this beast making it all the more better than the competition. The android tablet world is just starting and I really think that the xoom is the Nexus one of tablets and that is one of the main reasons I purchased it and after Sammy announced their lineup with touchwiz on board I think this (and LG) will be some of the only stock vanilla honeycomb tablets the market will ever see especially where iit is fully inlockeable. I would suggest the xoom to anyone and the 599 price point is perfect. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck in your future decision. Hope this helps even a little bit

Agree with everything you said, except: the Galaxy Tab 10.1 32GB wifi-only will be $599, just like the Xoom. So pricing is actually identical. The existence of a $499 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 might be attractive to some folks, but it won't of course be the same thing.
And I know Samsung did a really good job of going back and redesigning the Galaxy Tab given the iPad 2's strengths. But what did they cut to make the thing so much thinner, lighter and, as they implied in their statements, cheaper?
I think from what I see, the two factors that get me interested in Galaxy are
1) The much brighter and vibrant screen
2) lighter than xoom
But knowing Samsung and their support level or lack there of...Xoom might be a better choice....
I personally don't care for touchwiz, and the molasses pace that Samsung produces updates is criminal. Buying a device with an OS as new as Honeycomb from a manufacturer with a proven record of bad post-production software support seems like a bad idea to me.
Also, last I checked the 10.1V (teh stock android 3.0 version) does not have microSD
I will reiterate what another use stated, head down to Best Buy and get your hands on the XOOM to get a feel for the size and weight. I've done this a few times and the more I do the more I like it. Initially it feels a little heavy but you get used to it.
The XOOM is here now, the price will be similar to other 10" Honeycomb devices coming out and many of the coming devices will have custom overlays. (TouchWiz) I'd rather have the XOOM as it's a Google Experience device and will likely be the first device to get updates.
I think touch wiz should be least of concern. I think they confirmed that 10.1 will go live w/o touch wiz and it is an optional add on patch if you chose to.
Beside, touch wiz or not, root and replace with other launcher if dont like it.

I completely disagree, especially on such a new OS that will be receiving frequent, important updates.
The 10.1V will be stock android (this is the fatter version with the better camera and no SD card)
The super slim 8.9 and 10.1 will be touchwiz 4.0

the 10.1v was the one that came out at MWC before Samsung did a big re-design to make it thinner and smoother.
Then they released the new 10.1 and 8.9 as the "US Versions" at CTIA a few days ago.
It should be said that we really don't know which models or if any will be coming with TouchWiz4.0 on them. We have a whole 2 months before the new 10.1 even comes out. A lot can change in that time, and as far as Google is concerned you're not allowed to change Honeycomb's UI, so we'll have to see as that pans out.
Guys, I just wanted to mention that LG is apparently creating a nexus/purely Google tablet - slated to be the *real* "Nexus One" of tablets and receive the according amount of updates... the question is , how reputable is LGs hardware? Truthfully, because the Xoom and the Nexus tab will both run AOSP honeycomb, I doubt updates will come slower to the Xoom from the dev community or the manufacturer.

Considering there's still honeycomb tablets on 3.0 and the fact that Xoom is getting this updates before anyone, I would not call that an issue at all.
The tablet has been out less than half a year and already saw two updates.
As for the OP question, I got my 3G Xoom since day one, but I would buy it again if I was on the look for a tablet today.
I had high hopes for the Galaxy Tab but the build quality feels too plasticy compared to the Xoom.
------Warning------ ThinkPad Fanboy Comment Below ------Warning------
If you like the idea of the Transformer and HTC Flyer Pen, then I would recommend you take a look at the upcoming Thinkpad Tablet
You can't beat the legendary ThinkPad keyboards with anything. Oh, and judging by the pics, the build quality seems to be on par with the ThinkPad laptops.
That is the only tablet I would consider selling my beloved Xoom for.

I had the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and returned it 3 times because of screen issues, commonly known as "the 'oil slick' on the screen".
Got the Motorola XOOM and have been loving it! Feels solid and works just as good as the Galaxy Tab. Best part is, is that it receives the newest version of Honeycomb 3.x first!
I personally recommend it.
Have any questions? PM me.
PS. I'm not sure if it's because I have the US version (32GB WiFi) but I got the Android 3.2 update right when it was announced, others have been having trouble getting it.... I guess.

Both my (total stock) Xooms upgraded to 3.2 over WiFi no issues whatsoever.
I don't currently own a tablet, was interested in the xoom but had high hopes for the Galaxy. IMO the xoom seems the better option. I'm not a fan of apple but I constantly hear the argument "There's more apps for the ipad and nothing on the xoom" how true is this statement??? what's a "killer" ipad app that's not available on the xoom? I honestly know little about it.

It was Netflix until recently, now it has to be the video calling capability in Skype.
i must say that i like the xoom, just waiting for that 3.2 update. I also dislike the ipad =P but it is true that they do have cooler apps and what not. But everything except the apps, i like the xoom better.
EDIT: For those that are getting the update (3.2) is it the wifi xoom? Cause the one i have is with the data plan, but it's gonna be cancelled since i got it from my cousin. I heard that the non-wifi xoom gets the update first

iOS kills android when it comes to apps.
Netflix, Hulu, Skype, Free last.fm without having to use hacked solutions. I'm not going to mention how many games iOS have that makes my jaw drop but xoom is still a great product.

The Xoom does everything I want it to do (MZ601/UK/3g).
I'll be looking at a new one when they come out jsut because I can.
Best bet is to see what the second gen units bring to the table and what gains (for you) they offer over the new ones, if you have a friend with a tablet then have a play, doesnt have to be a Xoom anything will do just to see what you make of them in general, best to get one that will do what you want instead of just buying one thats well OTT for YOUR needs..
Chances are there will be loads of people like me that'll be selling there Gen1 tablets when the new ones are out meaning you can pick up a decent second hand bargain, if people are like me you'll get a decent bundle for less than what you would buy a new unit for, for instance I have a car charger, the motorola folio case, the motorola rubber cover an Otterbox and a 16Gb mSD card, that lot will still come in cheaper than a brand new one but it really does depend on what you want/need from it..
I dont think so. The xoom does everything the new one does. From what I've read there's nothing that really stands out that will make me make the jump.

Was hoping for a quad core but this one has the TI-omap. How does that process vs tegra 3?
also only has 16 GB. That's a step down in my book. They also don't mention an sd slot.

The ability to scribe with the forthcoming Moto digital stylus is enough for me since my slate is used in both a boardroom and classroom.
So basically thee devices are just Xoom+'s then as theres not really anything second Gen about then in the slightest...

Pretty much. I've got mine already - it seems better polished than the Xoom, but I can't really tell much in the way of performance - I've only had limited exposure to the original. And as kuroguy mentioned, there's sadly no SD slot (at least in the UK version) - though there *is* what appears to be a useless flap. Wonder if I'll figure that one out any time soon...
Still, it certainly performs well enough for everything I need - note-taking, youtube and the occasional bit of gaming. I just wish I could've found a full spec sheet before I bought it!

I remember reading somewhere it was a defunct SIM card slot. Perhaps the decision to remove this feature was after the cases had been manufacturered.
Off topic, but shouldn't XDA now have a dedicated 'Xoom 2' forum?
I don't think so because it isn't much better *and* this model is so much cheaper now. If the increase in price was proportional to the increase in improvement, that would be more reasonable.

I love my xoom and also own a touchpad running android and the xoom is just a great device. Touchpad already sent in for repair.
Got one
Got a XOOM 2 yesterday and it is sleeker thinner and sexier, but this native 3.2.2 sucks ass. Very laggy at times. Can I run a custom xoom rom on it?.l
No you can't install xoom roms and firmwares and there is no custom roms yet because of the locked bootloader . Yes honeycomb is a bit laggy for my taste too and that's why all of us wants ics as soon as possible. I install adw launcher because of that and i use most of the time firefox 11 beta for internet to have better lag free experience( if you make few customizations in about:config firefox can be very fast) .

Considering a xoom, still a good option?

have been looking round for a tab, while the transformer prime seems best its now almost double the cost of the xoom, even though the xoom is quite old, it seems anything else around is still tegra2 or dual core similar spec hardware to the xoom, so i dont see any point apart from the weight in getting anything newer or more expensive, is it still a good option guys? you can get one for around £260 in the UK where as the transformer prime would be £499 and the original transformer maybe £350
i just returned a scroll extreme as it was just soooooooooooooo laggy!! i dont want anything with huge lag like that again
This late? I wouldn't buy the xoom today at its current price.

So I'm the first to respond...the original Xoom is a wonderful device and is even better now than it was when it was new because it has ICS official update, and best of all, the most fantastic developers and real bleeding-edge advances in Xoom software. It's so well built and sturdy that the bit of additional weight doesn't matter. In my opinion the Xoom is still the best tablet available, as everything works well and there's tons of additional functionality with custom roms.
The xoom is built like a tank and with it's specs what else out there is better for the money. I have two of them and the last one I picked up for $315 U.S.
Picked up 32 gb wifi only xoom a few months back with original box and 5 cases (4 still sealed) for $275 off craigslist. Didn't think it was too bad and I'll be keeping xoom for awhile

the only thing i can see maybe 'better' for the money is the asus transformer 101 maybe just because its a little lighter and can be expanded with the kb if need be, also the connectivity looks a little better placed, and its just as supposed with roms and people using it. These are both £290 ish in the UK?
i mean the xoom 2 is a little more expensive but for that lighter slimmer body you lose the expansion slow, sure you can use the usb host but i dont like that idea, would prefer an expansion slot, the galaxy tab just seem out there with the price, then you have the acer a200 which ones again is similar so im thinking the original xoom or asus transformer in this price bracket is the best option...
I only got my Xoom about 3 weeks ago, £280 from PC world. Been an android guy for a year now so did my research to see what the community support was like. Noticed that we're getting official CM9 support, that made the deal even sweeter. Still team EOS provide excellent support on AOSP builds. Even in terms of specs, great screen, great processor, can be overclocked (and stable). In my opinion this is still a great buy!
I too want to buy a tablet. But I'm confused between xoom, galaxy tab 10.1 and transformer TF101.
So what do you guys suggest?
My requirements are, good support by Dev community and which wont brick easily...
Thanks..
Peace.
Hi I just picked up a Motorola Xoom WiFi 32GB via a pricerunner.co.uk search. This got me a £5 discount making the delivered price just under £245. I tried to upgrade to ICE/Android 4.0, but managed to “Brick” the device …so be warned and be patient.
Fortunately I manage to resolve this issue with the help of some XDA forum links, YouTube and Motorola site itself. I will try and write up the details of my problem and solution in another thread.
I am now back to the original Android 3.2 version and so far I am very happy the XOOM.

the Xoom has great community support and as far as I know the galaxy tab 10.1 does too because that was another option of mine and community support is a big factor when I buy a new product both I believe are getting official CM9 support. i can't speak for the TF101,I don't know much about that one

I have all three and the best will be the one you can find at the best price. All three are near similar hardware with each having an advantage/disadvantage to the others.
Community/Dev support I would have to say the Xoom wins though...as well as being difficult to brick. Google "Experience" device really makes the Xoom a great device.
(I use the Xoom, my wife is using the Transformer and I gave my mother the Galaxy Tab).
in my opinion, its the best tablet for the cost.
main cons are weight and potentially out of date hardware. that hasn't stopped it from being the first official device to receive 4.0.4
would love if i could get a 2nd one as backup.
HD dock is wonderful. it even works with my otterbox.
Xoom is the best overall tablet. Newer tablets have shinier items, but considering the durability, functionality, support and overall user experience, I don't think you could go wrong buying a xoom.
I do have a Xoom either and I think it's a good choice and you won't regret buying it. It isn't expensive for its quality and it runs very well and smoothly especially with CM9 ICS.

Actually, the Xoom has a better frame rate than the Transformer 101. You could search for the thread that proves it somewhere here in General or Q&A (sometime last summer?).
If you can find one for a good price I think it's a no-brainer. Great build quality and great active devs on XDa. What more could you possibly ask for?

check craigslist in your area, or look on ebay. do your research and you are sure to find a great deal!
I've had Xoom since almost release day. Wifi at start and chose it over the galaxy tab just cause it felt more rugged. Tab was nice but felt cheep. Haven't regretted it one bit. Now I own 2 xooms, wifi and 4g, wifi one my son mainly uses. Got my 3g/4g on Craigslist for 400, came dock, leather case and original box.
based on your guys opinions here and elsewhere, i ordered the xoom and should have it in my hands tomorrow. really excited about this device! i even changed my sig already

[Q] Which ASUS tablet?

I'm looking to get an ASUS tablet but with all the different models I'm looking for input from you guys that are rooted and running custom roms.
I'm a cellphone guy and this will be my first tablet. I'm not looking to get some pile that I'm going to be pissed off about because I can't do this or that.
I don't really have a "need" since I'm just looking for something to hack on...(root, roms, customization, web browsing..running benchmarks because I like looking at the speed, OC'ing... ya know the normal nerd shiz.
The "tinkering" is what I like, probably the same as alot of you guys, just trying new things on it and that stuff...just like my S3.
I'm looking at the tf700t right now for $300 used. I can't really find the difference with the "t" specification on the end..?
Which model should i be interested in if this isn't the "one?"
Am I going to be happy with this, being able to root and flash roms?
Is this the one with the plastic piece/bezel on the top so the GPS actually works decent?
Are these speedy or are they piles of crap?
Is $300 a decent price?
Would you go with Google Nexus 10 instead?
I
Is this the tf700t? removed

Hard to tell for me since I never handled these guys.
Well Thanks for your help, if you think I'm missing the boat here and should go with a different tablet, let me know. I like the ASUS look, but not set in stone on it. I see some people saying they regret buying their ASUS tab and wish they went with the Nexus10. I like the Nexus10 too.
The first one is not the same as the second, the first one was the model before called the transformer prime, that one was removed from stores within about 6 months. I advise you to stay away from that one. The one on the bottom is the transformer infinity the one that is the better one. I have mine rooted and unlocked with cleanrom 2.4 and clemsyns 1.9 kernal. Boy can I say that its a sweet device now, stock it was okay but now its amazing. I would totally get it with the price of 350$.
This tablet has some advantages over the nexus 10 too.
Transformer Infinity's (TF700T) Advantages:
It has a micro SD card slot.
It has a dock that you can always connect to for extra battery life along with more ports.
Development is stronger AT THE MOMENT for this tablet.
For 350$ you can get 32 gigs of storage.
Nexus 10s advantages:
Better processor inside.
Better screen resolution.
Better support from manufacturer.
Disadvantages:
No micro SD card slot.
No docking station that adds battery life.
400$ only gets you 16 gbs of memory.
Not a lot known about this tablet yet to judge how great it really is or can be.
Hope this helps you out a little.

How does the n10 have better support? Asus is considered to be the best. Even if the n10 is a nexus, it's made by Samsung, considered to be the worst...

Because its a google product so logically google is going to release all of its updates and support quicker then any other device period. Dont get me wrong Asus has some awesome support.
Thanks guys.
I agree with the advantages over the Nexus tablet. I like the expandable storage. Plus 32gb for the price is great.
The resolution is better on the N10 but, really, I'm not a huge freak about that.
I'm sure the resolution is great and it has IPS mode right? I've heard good things about that.
I thought I'd be missing NFC, but in reality, it's a novelty to me, wow cool, ok move on. I've used it like 4 times on my S3, only because i bought a bunch of the tiles. They are in a drawer somewhere. Useless.
The dock looks pretty decent, kinda pricey but, i'll find a used one.
The infinity has USB OTG right? I'm assuming it does.
The processor difference between the N10 isn't that great and I don't really do anything that requires that much power..besides wow'ing myself with benchmarks, so i think it will be fine.
I'm not too worried about the updates since I won't be stock ever. I'm sure we'll be at 4.2 within no time if isn't already.
Thanks for the tips, I'm going to try to score the infinity off craigslist right now. I'll let you know what I think.
One last question..
The "gold" grey" models is referring to the actual color right or am I retarded? or both?

The resolution on the infinity still wows me though, its a nice looking tablet regardless. Sadly the infinity doesnt have USB on it however there is an adapter that plugs into your charger port to give you that support.
I have to agree that the dock is sweet but pricey, I personally dont own one yet and am patiently waiting for a Ubutu port before I make any further purchases.
Yeah the benchmarks on this thing are crazy if you do some tweaking, I will attach a pic with my benchmark on this post. It is pretty good.
Just make sure that it is indeed the infinity as the post says the transformer prime which is different then the transformer infinity. If the guy has the box the box should say infinity. Good luck man!
EDIT:Yes that is referring to is color not a stupid question either lol.

Congrats on the Infinity purchase!! You'll love it! Better choice than the N10 in my opinion. I had the Prime, then bought the Infinity when it was released and my girlfriend got the Prime. The only thing about the N10 that excites me is that GameLoft and EA said they are going to support it with their games. So that means the Infinity will get support too with its high res display!! Bonus!!!

Just saw a video where some guy had opened 6 3D games and was multitasking and playing fluently those games. You just can't do that with this tablet. This will die under 2 games already.
