Guys, not sure how much you tested this ROM...but i am telling by experience in last 2 days after upgrade from DDKP3.
Better animations smoothness
Better incoming call screen / better responsiveness
Better multitasking
Much better Battery life
New lock screen is better than earlier; better response (also takes you directly on missed call details from lock screen if required)
Did not test face lock yet
I personally think its not just a value pack; its a complete ROM as you can apply it directly without having any dependency on any other ROM. Don't know why its called a value pack or a kind of service pack.
Worth a try!!

Hey guys I flashed this rom like shriom suggest in this order:
1. Flash KPE
2. Flash DDLF2
3. Flash BAM custom kernel v14 universal
4. Nandroid backup
5. Convert to ext4
6. Restore the nandroid backup
7. Go to "Tweaks" and select all and restart
8. Restore my Titanium backup with all my apps
9. Choose the "Ondemand" governor and "SIO" for I/0 Scheduler with No-Frills CPU Controller overclocked to 1.2 ghz
So far so good, everything works fine, even better than KPQ with all these tweaks. What surprised me most is that games work even smoother than ever, tested with Sonic 4 episode 1 and Virtua Tennis. Now this games works without lags, notice that sonic 4 was really laggy sometimes and virtua tennis too.
Also the scroll animation and behavior is more natural than in KPQ, it works more like a Vanilla Android.
So guys... follow my steps and enjoy this awesome rom, really worth it.

just to make things clear lag as in tw4 lag which i think exists in all the value pack firmwares right ? theres no rom lag as such
Samsung developers are 5 year old turtles xD
They just have no interest in giving us a proper ROM, they won't make any revenue so why would they care?
Meh.
Looks like the only reason Samsung promised Value Pack was to sell the remaining manufactured I9003...Their developers need to come to XDA and check the latest developments done on I9003 by the community. Hats Off to all the developers of this phone on XDA.
Good upgrade
Guys, not sure how much you tested this ROM...but i am telling by experience in last 2 days after upgrade from DDKP3.
Better animations smoothness
Better incoming call screen / better responsiveness

Much better Battery life
New lock screen is better than earlier; better response (also takes you directly on missed call details from lock screen if required)
Did not test face lock yet
I used the same settings and applications on this one similar to DDKP3 except earlier i was on EXT4 and deodexed; now i am on RFS and no deodexed.
I am comparatively a heavy user with hundred of calls a day frequently, 2-3 hrs WiFi/Bluetooth/games/text etc also.
I personally think its not just a value pack; its a complete ROM as you can apply it directly without having any dependency on any other ROM. Don't know why its called a value pack or a kind of service pack.

Don't we need KPE before flashing DDLF2 if currently on MIUI v-4 or CM9
What about the browser ?? Is it the same GB browser or anything they have upgraded like what is there in CM9 based roms.

With cm7 and the amc chip fix implemented I have achieved 2 days on a single charge. A few MMS, plenty of internet browsing(switching from edge to 3g only when i use the internet), at least 400 text messages, a few calls, and about 2 hours of accumulated music playback.
Brightness was at 50%, and wifi was always on.
cm7 10 characters
I installed CoreDroid 4 w\ Sense and Gingerbread last night... kinda loving it a lot right now. It's revamped UI for MMS without the stupida#$ slideshow is soooooo much better. That slideshow really annoyed the hell out of me!
I just got my Inspire yesterday an ms I'm loving it. Although rooting was not as easy as rooting my Evo or Atrix, I was able to get it rooted.
I'm currently running the Rooted Stock ROM and I'm getting great battery life. I haven't flashed any custom kernels either, just the one that came with the rom. Normally about this time on my evo, the battery is almost dead. But not this Inspire...this phone is a beast! I made a couple of calls, sent numerous text and been checking FB every now and then. All I want the phone to do is last at least the 8 hours that I'm at work. Anything after that would be fantastic.

I have run both Revolutions, CoreDroid, CM7, buzz sense, leeDroid, and Dilli.
Before i say my favorite and why, I want to express that i might not have had the right rom/kernel/radio combo on some of my installs, so this is by no means a dig on ANY of them just my inexperience.
My favoirte by far is leeDroid. It has had the best balance for my phone on Battary, UI, speed, and sound.
On some of the GB roms I had some lag, especially after unlocking. On Dilli i had an extreme battary drain. I did like CoreDroid also. I have yet to try an MIUI rom as i enjoy the leedorid so much. I have never had a rom on my phone for this long.
I am actually suprised i haven't seen more activity on his thread, nor mention of his rom in the forum sticky!
Anyway, Thanks to all the chefs in the kitchen!! I have enjoyed all your roms and will be trying them all again!

"switching from edge to 3g" Do tell! Can this be done on a stock rooted rom or only on cm7? Thx
I was originally using the RCMixHD as well, but then i decided to switch it up to CoreDroid V5.1. I must say that i'm loving the custom ROMs, and must again give a shout out to the awesome teams that put these things together. I don't think i could ever go back to stock, especially now that i have Gingerbread!
That being said, my battery life has been inconsistent at best, and insanely pathetic at other times. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is the major cause of my woes. I know when i first flash the ROMs, the battery life is amazing, losing maybe 1% an hour over night. But after i configure it, install all the apps and what not, i lose on average of 3-4% an hour, in airplane mode & with NO use at all. When i actually use it, it jumps up by a factor of 3x.
So basically, i still need to find the battery sweet spot by getting rid of the apps/settings that kill my battery. I'm open to suggestions!
Use CURRENT WIDGET (app store) to find and kill the apps that drain your battery!!

Why do you care? 768 MB of RAM are there with one purpose only - to be used
;"http://www.rt-embedded.com/blog/archives/linux-memory-consumption" - A nice Article about Linux RAM management said:
Assuming there are no memory leaks, the reason that memory report tools report low amount of free memory is because the RAM is considered to be wasted if it isn’t used. This concept may require some time to digest, because conventional thinking may lead to the conclusion that an efficient system is a system with a lot of free memory. This is not entirely correct. In Linux case, the kernel tries to utilize the most of the RAM to improve the system performance. Keeping the cache means that if the kernel or a task needs the same data again, there’s a good chance it will still be in the fast cache in memory.

hmm, I am far from the conclusion that we are making something terrible when killing apps (the important one are popping back on immediately after killing)
but I am absolutely against this automated so called "advanced" task killers that can kill random stuff, like your launcher for example (this happened to me in the past and I was very curious why my launcher just restarts occasionally ) or freeze the device

Good so far. I charged it over the night powered off, wiped the battery stats in the morning. battery dropped 15 % for the past 16 hours. Performance is great. Reaper governor, 921 MHz max, 184 MHz min, UV all to -50
But I had disabled all the monitoring stuff so only time will tell. (my target is to get back my 5 days - As far as I remember it was with Tiamat 1.1.3 and the next version were not so good, but I am not sure)
P.S.: is it just me or on this compilation of OC/UV beater awake and sleep governors cannot be set simultaneously (for one profile)?

Root IS required !!
This mod will add init.d support to any rom even stock roms without editing the ramdisk. Instead it uses the post_boot.sh file that is in most if not all roms. It should work on most devices, if it does not work on yours please look in /system/etc and post the name of the file that contains "post_boot.sh".
This mod has been tested on the OneX and OneS.
To use just flash in recovery and add your favorite scripts to init.d.
For devs:
To add this method to your rom simply edit the post_boot.sh file and add this line at the bottom:
Code:
/system/etc/init.d/*
Easy right ? Suprised it hasn't been done before, well at least that i know of.
All files in init.d will be executed at boot just like regular init.d. You can also manually add the line and make it whatever directory you want.
I have attached a test file to flash to see if init.d is working.
Flash Init_D_Test.zip in recovery
Reboot and navigate to /data and look for a file called Test.log if it's there Congats init.d works.
Download:
http://goo.im/devs/smokin1337/Mods/Easy_InitD_1.1.zip
Changelog:
1.1 - fixed error in script
Definitely works!!
"Init.d support allowed the use of the CPU editor resulting in these results, proof that it works."
I've been testing this since this morning and I didn't hold back on use, forums, news, calls, and texting/mms as well.
Here's the proof but you have to be root and it will change your quadrants a little lower but response is up there with battery savings.

Maybe I should explain my last post, I'm running Stock official release rooted, many people believed that init.d support couldn't be used for Stock builds but this allows you to be able to run scripts like this one I'm running "CLICK THIS LINK TO THE RIGHT, IT"S WORTH IT!!!" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584508).
This is the CPU editor which allows you to change cpu settings on a stock kernel and custom kernels as well. The One S has an amazing stock kernel but you can tweak it to control when the second core picks up and drops off, the cpu editor changes those settings depending on how you want it to perform for you by profile.
1. Performance
2. Performance and Battery saver
3. Battery saver
My pic above shows the first day of testing with moderate to heavy use using battery saver (#3) leaving the Min and Max at their original settings 384 and 1512 but telling the cores to work in a different way, instead of the second core picking up at 90% of the first core it picks up at 10% till it makes it to 100% of the first cores process making it snappy but when it reaches 100% the second core drops off and stops running.
When you put it in sleep mode it drops the first core to min settings and holds it there till it's needed. I had to have the init.d script in order to use this script because I like stock for the time being, personally I'm a MIUI fan but Sense 4 has a good hold on me at the moment.
Init.d allows these types of scripts to run on a device which in the past had to be a community developed rom, now it's possible to use a stock device rooted and still have the benefits of developed scripts like multitasking script, supercharger v6, OC daemon (Virtuous) etc...
Hope this clears things up for you.

As far as I can see, "init.d" Scripts are Tweaks which are dynamicly loaded on each startup by the ROM ( if the said rom Supports it ).
Im pretty new to Android, so Im googling my way thru it right now, but it seems pretty great what you can achieve with those Scripts
EDIT:
Woops, looks like someone was fast with a better explanation ^^
Thank you Orical

Most scripts that you'll find here are specific for their respective devices, the cpu editor is more of an universal tool like others posted in other forums that haven't made their way around the block yet but for the most part you would be hard pressed to find scripts that are meant for anything else on these forums.
Devs are really good about warning users if there is something that might be high risk to use.
You are right about the definition though, good to see some one uses that great friend Google that answers all your questions without asking anything in return.... Google is awesome! lol...
Orical, V3n3, thanks for the replies. I had an idea of what it did before, but I'm a lot clearer now. I know I've seen threads that say "ROMs with init.d only" or kernels, whatever, but now I can't find them anywhere.
As for messing with the cores, I'm a little hesitant. But I'm also a little curious. Does that script allow for any overclocking? I'm not looking for much, maybe like an extra 100MHz (just to get back what the 1.84 update took away, really).
Never mind, I'm just going to give it a try, made a nandroid and going for it. Thanks again.

No problem, this opens up options for all stock rom users now that had to leave stock in order to use script enhancements. I don't want to seem like this is my project here, Smokin1337 is the thinker and finds ways to make everything better for everyone. I merely tested it for our device but I'm sure devs will find this useful everywhere, big thanks to smokin for the find.
How does one apply this? I've flashed it and now what? Thanks for the great work by the way!

Now that you have init. d you can install a script that you can use to do anything you want, I would suggest the CPU editor smokin1337 made. Look at his sig, it's designed to help battery life without having to install a custom kernel bit it also works with custom kernels too.
PS yes terminal emulator is how you use it type "SU" then "CPU" and follow the menu from there.

Yeah he knows his stuff, it's not loaded in gimmicks and it does exactly what it should. More need to try it.
Is it possible to flash this without a custom recovery? Im on a evolte and i need this as a stepping stone to improve my multitasking, but i don't want to HTC unlock for a recovery.

If you are rooted follow the manual method in the op
Basically add this line to /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh
/system/etc/init.d/*
Then create the init.d folder

Tried this the other night, went to bed without charging my phone and my phone only dipped 1% in eight hours. Definitely a huge improvement on battery and I chose the middle setting. Awesome work.
i've been reading reports of users with N4's getting upwards of 50% increased battery life with the latest stock 4.2.2 update... found multiple people reporting the same thing on the N7 as well... i wonder what was in that update and i wonder if anyone that was using a 4.2.1 ROM that's now on 4.2.2 can share their experience on any increases or decreases they've noticed...
I'm currently running BB7, which is a 4.2.1 based ROM... was thinking of trying another ROM but obviously want to go to a 4.2.2 ROM with theme chooser to find out... just want some feedback before i make the jump...

i flashed a test build for BB8 earlier today... charged up and so far with sync on (usually kills my battery) and 4G/gps on as well and i dropped about 5% in just about 1.5hrs... that seems pretty good for me so far... i usually have to turn off sync and all data services to stay at a steady % for a while... hopefully when i turn thos things off, it won't barely drop... oh and that's with like 10mins of screen so far lol... just a few texts and screenshots to upload some images for my new theme!
This was on the first discharge cycle after flashing the new 4.2.2 Greenblue AOSP. I think it is going to get even better!

That's insane... o_o do you have only the screen turned out and didn't do anything? No way in hell someone can get 7 hours of on screen time in 1 charge and still have 26%, unless the phone was charged inbetween, just not completely.

How does the battery screen look though?
i'm extremely lucky if i can get 3hrs of screen time... i usually would get around 2-2.5hrs of screen... i also usually have 4G turned on... that 7hrs is not normal and def looks like an extended battery... no way thats stock... if so, what are your exact settings?
btw, my 2 days on 4.2.2 so far have been about the same as with 4.2.1 as far as battery goes... maybe a slight increase in idle time when i have everything turned off (not airplane just data/wifi/gps/sync/etc turned off)... still too early to tell for sure tho!

that cant be true...i used that combination many times and the most screen time i got was 4h30. i have seen some guys reach 5h and something but 7h and still 26% is just ridiculous. did you restore a nandroid backup that had screen on time recorded or something?
the only way i could consider that is if you put the cpu max @100mhz and left the phone with the screen on for those 7 hours without touching it lol
The best I've ever gotten was 5:20 hours of screen on time with a few 4+ hours of screen on time. I can only do it if I have WiFi & great signal like 3 or 4 bars & the ROM has to be CM10 stable which gives me best battery I've ever gotten I've said this in a few threads already. I can't believe 7+ hours of screen on time with stock 1500mah battery in the Nexus S!

basically my phone is just sitting wthi the screen on and all other signals turned off...
Most I get is probably like an hour screen on

This test is not relevant. Screen on without any phone activity is not equal to using the phone from time to time.

I have been giving each kexec and non kexec rom 3-5 says of recharging clearing stats and leaving them be to determine which kernel gives best overall battery results. I have noticed with my setup that kexec uses more than nonkexec. I am a heavy user with lots of screen time and am trying to determine what method is best. UI tearing or not, heavy usage I get 8hrs, 12 with light.
Gonna try to get some stats together to support my conclusion so maybe some else can chimera with their opinions and stats and maybe we can have a determination.

That's a known thing.. Kexec will draw more battery and ram. For battery, it cannot shutdown some UART ports. That draws out juice. For ram, kexec cannot completely remove all the ram that is taken by stock kernel. There are some secure regions that cannot be freed. That reduces the net usable ram.

I tried non-kexec roms like CM10.1 altered & Media is also taking about 47%. Deepsleep in cpu spy not working how it should be working.
I may have found my culprit. In my Google Sync I had a couple errors. I have disabled the faulty syncs and will try to post back if it yields a positive result.

A few months ago I had a problem with the media scanner causing a wake lock. My phone would never get into deep sleep and it happened on every ROM I tried. I backed up my pics and other irreplaceable files then reformatted my SD card. I haven't had that problem since. I think I must've had a corrupted file that the media scanner would get hung up on or something like that.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.
Any suggestions to prevent battery drainon Kexec ROM
I ran pac man kexec for 3 days and tried a bunch of it the fixes but still got awful battery life

CM10.1 was not too great for me. mostly with screen on. at idle it got 14 hours or so, but just an hour or so of screen time would drop it 40% easily. not a problem on AOKP now, which is not kexec.
