root toolkit 0.8 - where my CWM ? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I use the tool root toolkit 0.8.3
I did "Backup & Root"
then Install "SU only"
then Install "touch recovery only"
I can't reboot in CWM -no app in ICS and no prompt when I close my tab and no cwm prompt appear when I push power + vol up or down....
how I can get this clock mod recovery ?
Best regard
Bankaiii

Volume down, then press power, then wait 3 seconds and press volume up.
If that doesn't work, try the PERI tool to get CWM.

thanks to answer me, but now I installed "everything" I'm afraid to use 1 click tool.
Or I have to uninstall all to use 1 click safely.
I dont want have 2 tools installed for the same job.
Why there is no prompt to ask to reboot in cwm , its weird !
which difference between touch clockworkmod recovery v5.8.1.8 and cwm from 1 click aka PERI ?

Root Toolkit Problem
Yesterday I used the Toolkit to Root my Asus Transformer B70 i believe (sorry its not here with me). I followed all the steps and everything went fine. I then upgraded the CWM with Rom Manager, Rom Manager was granted SU Permission so i know the root is fine, however when i try to flash a new Rom (Cyanogenmod 9) it just reboots (not into recovery) and does nothing. i also find Superuser keeps crashing and i think it is when i go to flash the new Rom.
Any advice?

Rouge XM supports external storage. That's about it.
You can safely use PERI even after using the other tool.
adrian- ROM manager causes issues. Bad issues. See my warning in general...
PERI can also fix that, use the fix bootloop option.

and about "1-Click Transformer Root" - which difference ?
how I can know if Im rooted ?

Just use what you want to use. Everything works. 1ctr does root first then cwm. Mine does cwm then root.

oh my god ! it works
But I must confess one thing :
Windows try to install driver when I plug the Tab - so When I remove driver (from device manager) and reboot windows I have to click quicly on icon (green color in task bar) to ask to stop automatic install. Cause I already install your driver adb.
So I think automatic install driver from Windows is the main problem for many people try to root and put cwm.
Now Im under with PERI >> Rogue XM Recovery 1.5.0 (based v 5.0.2.8) !!!
Thanks !
which rom you advise me (this is next step

Whatever rom you like, I'm currently switching between AOKP and gummy :]

ARHD
Revolver
AOSP Based

[Q] No OTA for me and some noob questions

Hello,
I need some help to get the new ICS update. I have a TF101 (no G), serial B80, with firmware HTK75.WW_epad-8.6.6.23.
Previously I was on 8.6.6.19 and used razorclaw to root it. Then I have done the wipe data, and installed 8.6.6.23.
When I boot with Power and Vol- then Vol+ to enter RCK mode I get the green android guy with exclamation mark.
When I boot with Power and Vol-, then Vol+ I get 2 options: Wipe data and android cold boot.
I used some apps to test if the device is root and they say no.
Sorry for my english, but it's not my main language.
Any idea to fix this?
The 8.6.6.23 is firmware for the 3G model. You will not see OTA since ICS is not released for G model yet.
You can try to manually install 8.5.6.21. You could also try rooting and installing cwm recovery and flash the ICS ROM
Thanks for the answer. I've searched around and it seems that I can't get back to 8.5.6.21.
When I try to install it I get the android guy with exclamation point.
I guess I have to wait for ICS on 3G model

Easiest way is to root, install CWM recovery and flash an ICS ROM. Either the stock rooted ROM or one of the many custom ROMs
I was in a similar situation. The ASUS recovery did not work for me either and I couldn't figure out how to install CWM. There is not a lot of help for noobs with B80s and with all the methods out there it was a challenge to find the correct one. Here's what I did:
1. If you are not rooted, follow the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427838 to get rooted. I had updated to the .21 firmware, and at that point, the nachoroot method is the only option. I had some trouble connecting ADB, but eventually I got it to work. This was the most difficult part of the process.
2. Install CWM. I was having trouble with this using the ASUS recovery, and I think it has to do with B80 models. I found the app in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180 and it is amazing. If you are rooted, it installs CWM even on the B80 versions. The custom recovery will allow you to install any rom.
3. Download the option B ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658. Place the zip on your SD card. This rom is the ASUS stock ICS firmware with root. Contrary to what some have said--I noticed a huge difference with ICS!
3. Backup all your user apps and data with Titanium Backup (optional). Do not back up system data, just user apps if you want to keep them.
4. Open your recovery. Shut the tablet off, and boot into recovery by holding down the power button and the volume down button until you are prompted to boot into recovery by pressing volume up. Pressing volume up should load CWM.
5. Wipe and then install! To wipe, select "wipe" on the recovery menu. Then wipe all data, cache, and dalvik-cache. To install, select install zip from SD card and find the zip file you downloaded in step 3.
Best of luck!
Hi,
may i hook in here, i've got a similar problem:
i TRY to get in adb mode, but it doesn't work as expected:
i used this thread initially (ASUS Transformer Root ToolKit V7.1 Universal (Windows) | 2011-09-22), i downloaded the toolkit, connected my turned off tab to the pc, booted via Power + vol up, it got connected to windows and i installed the drivers. so far so good. BUT: if i start adb server and use adb device, i dont get any devices listed... i cant do anything. And when i use this nvflash method with the download.bat file, i get an error and the usb connection vanishes... i dont have any further ideas what to do. but i can boot afterwards normaly to 3.2.1, though i dont get any updates
any hints? Thanks for reading anyways
thanks, DK

What you did was put your tablet into APX mode. That's only good if you're doing NVFLash not ADB.
To use ADB just have yourtablet on like normal with USB debugging turn on
Hi,
thanks for your fast reply, you are right. i got my adb device id when beeing in the os, so this works. but, trying to use nvflash/Brk's Asus TF RootKit over apx, i got the initial connection, but when i want to flash it looses the connection or dies or something... no idea what
you got any hints how i can come back to a clean version, which is upgradable?

Root and install cwm recovery on Stock Firmware 9.2.1.17

Hello,
How can i root my transformer and install cwm recovery. I have the official firmware 9.2.1.17.
thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230
searching is good.
Thank you,
I will try to root my "TF101" with Vipermod, I read that it was the only one who could root version 9.2.1.17.
Can i use the recovery installer made by gnufabio to install CWM recovery after ?
True, you can use this tool (and remember to use option-1) and it will root you. I did the same with my TF101 build C1O and v9.2.1.17 ICS ROM and successfully rooted it.
However the real problem lies after that. I have been trying hard the whole day to find a relevant cwm recovery for my device but unsuccessful so far. This is what I have done:
1) Download and install CWM ROM Manager
2) Download latest CWM Recovery using ROM Manager
3) Try creating back ROM - doesn't work (the Manager simply doesn't do anything)
4) Try getting into recovery mode by a) power + vol down button, then within 5 seconds, b) vol up button.
===> All I see is a dead android logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark. Some suggest that this is due to device not rooted but my device IS rooted.
5) Download this cwm recovery done by this kind person, into SD card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563249
6) Try 4 - but the same output as 4.
I'm kind of stuck - don't know what to do! If it works with you, please let me know!
Thanks!
Worked !!
Root with viper mod --> OK
Install CWM recovery --> OK
Reboot in recovery --> KO
so i have used an application called reboot2recovery and after i can go in recovery mode...
Now i am ready to flash a new rom
same problem for me!
exactly the same but the solution with this "Reboot to recovery" apk doesn' work.
any ather help and solution??
thanx a lot!!

[Q] How to root GEDified Xoom Wifi 4.1.2

I I have been searching for the net how to root my gedified xoom wifi 4.1.2,
My main objectives are
a) Root my xoom (because it is needed for OCing, but if i can bypass this that would be better)
b) Overclock it to 1.5
I have found 1 way root my xoom but i am stuck. The instruction says open the xoom and press down to display "android recovery" after i press up to enter android recovery it show : Entering Android Recovery Mode Reading ODM fuse:1. BUT after that i get the lying android with a ! on his belly. then my xoom restarts.
Please help me overclock my xoom because when i play Chaos Rings it lags, and its really frustrating.
Up, can someone help me with this?
up
So the fact that you're GEDified, implies you have an unlocked bootloader.
So, Install a custom recovery, I'd recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235170
Then in recovery flash the zip file I have attached to root. credits to solarnz for making the zip file.
Yup i think i have a unlocked bootloader, can you give me a step by step instruction on how to install the custom recovery and flash with the zip file? (FYI: I'm a newbie in this kind of stuff)
One more thing this is my MAIN PROBLEM

Gedified xoom
I've been trying to access recovery on my gedified xoom and ran into the same problem. Only when i got the sleeping android with the i on the belly, the xoom did not reboot. It was just stuck like that so I pressed power button + volume up button to exit and what do you know it went into the recovery mode. The xoom now says
Android system recovery <3e>
Use volume keys to highlight ; power button to select
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from USB drive
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Stumbled upon this by accident so dont know if it will work for you but hope it helps.
Gedified xoom

Ok so I am in the process of doing this myself. I'm kind of doing this off my own back as I cannot get the AIO tools etc to work, but there is a nice way of gaining root on 4.1.2.
So, assuming you have an unlocked bootloader and a PC on Windows do the following:
1) Download the root zip attached above in this thread.
2) Download the latest version with install scripts from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782235
3) Put the root zip onto the external SD Card
4) Run the RUNME file
5) Use option 2 to boot into fastboot
6) Once fastboot is loaded use option 1
7) This will then install the recovery.
8) Power + volume up to reboot
9) Do not let the device boot into android, it will get rid of the new recovery menu, hold power (on the Motorola dual core splash) and get the device to turn off before android starts loading.
10) Once the Xoom is off, start it again, pressing the volume down key rapidly until you see some options at the top, select recovery, press volume up.
11) Welcome to your new recovery! So, we need to install the root update. So select install zip.
12) Choose the root zip, go through the options and install it.
13) Reboot your device
14) Check for SuperSU
Congratulations, you should now have root on your 4.1.2 GED'ed Xoom MZ604
Going put this in a fresh thread I think for any other self proclaimed noobs in my position

Same here... this is driving me mad... everything people describe in other posts just aint happening on my GED wifi Xoom!!
Please explain.......
1) Download the root zip attached above in this thread. -------- where?
2) Download the latest version with install scripts from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1782235 Which file??????
Here is how I rooted my xoom.
follow the directions here but instead of doing step 1 follow this for adb install http://www.support-4-you.com/main/i...ged-adb-installation&catid=40:how-tos&Itemid= it is a 1 click adb install then follow from step 2 on.
When you are done there you can install TWRP 2.4 touch screen recovery (a much better recovery than what you used to root.)
Download TWRP2.4 zip and put on the root of your external sd card. ( if you don't have a sd card we will do it another way just let me know)
Boot into recovery by turning your xoom off.
1. press power
2. when the moto dual core logo comes on wait 3 seconds and press volume down
3. recovery should be displayed across the top press volume up.
You can skip steps 1- 3 now that you are rooted if you download Quick Boot open it, select recovery and the grant Super user permission
4. go to install zip from sd card (just like when you rooted) and find the TWRP 2.4 Zip and install
5. reboot your xoom
6. you now have TWRP 2.4 recovery installed.

[Q] Boot into Clockwork Recovery mod

Hi,
I am trying to flash my LG P500 to Cyanogen Mod 9 and the manual I found stated, that I should partition my SD card using Clockwork mod.
So I found ROM Recovery app in Google Play and installed it. Afterwords I downloaded Clockwork Flash using ROM Mangager app and everything seems OK.
But when I try to boot to clockwork mod, my phone is always being flashed into factory default.
I power off the phone, press vol down, home and power on buttons - the phone starts up, an animation of white box and android logo beside shows (with a progressbar at the bottom) - I think this is because of installed clockwork - then I release those 3 buttons I was holding, but the phone simply resets itself into factory default.
I also tried to hold those buttons all the way, until some "DOS-like" screen shows up, but the phone keeps rebooting itself.
The next thing I tried was to boot into recovery using ROM manager app, but it also did not work - I don't know, if it should boot into recovery by itself or I should press those 3buttons (vol down, home, power on/off)
Could you help me, what am I doing wrong?
thanks

no, my phone is already rooted
That's the stock recovery, that means ClockworkMod Recovery did not flash properly. See if you granted SuperUser rights to ROM manager, and check the SuperUser app if you had mistakenly checked 'Remember Choice'.

Dont use Rom Manager.
You dont have recovery installed.
Find some other way to flash recovery.. there are many in this forum.
I suggest you use Rom Manager to download CWM and then boot into cwm .
I suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723
This is safe for installing custom recovery.
Thanks to Shinobisoft.
Use AmonRA recovery. Works flawlessly for all roms in this forum.

[Q] Cannot install TWRP

I managed to root my TF101 using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193
The problem is I TWRP is not installed.
When I press Volume Down + Power buttons and then The Volume Up, my device goes to a screen with 2 icons, "Wipe Data" and "Android" and after 10 seconds it boots to Android. I assume this is the stock recovery.
I Tried:
1) Both EasyFlashers (http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html)
2) Goo Manager
3) Terminal Mathod (http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/109)
All of them failed.
Is there anything else for me to try?
What were your steps when you tried using Easyflasher ?
I confirmed the device was in APX mode, through the device manager.
Run EasyFlasher.exe and chose the SBK1 (my TF101 is B60)
Chose "TWRP 2.2.1" and pressed Flash.
Everything seems to be working, since both in the command prompt and the device I get that the process was successful, but booting to recovery does not run TWRP, instead if goes to the screen I mentioned earlier.

Not sure it matters, but did you run Easyflasher as Admin ?
Ensure the correct APX drivers were installed ?
Reboot the TF once before trying to enter recovery ?
Held the Vol Down & Power from a powered off state until the white text appeared at the top of the screen, then hit volume up to enter RCK ?

1. Yes, I am administrator.
2. I used Universal Naked Drivers 0.72 from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514942
3. Yes, after using any of the methods mentioned, I allowed it to reboot once normally.
4. Yes, I get the screen I mentioned with the Wipe Data/Android, when I press Vol Up after the Vol Down+Power combination.
When I say Run as Admin, I mean Right click the exe and choose Run as Administrator
I'd try using the drivers included in the Easyflasher bundle here (EDIT - Dev recommends the drivers you used anyway)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
As it uses APX this shouldn't matter, but make sure USB Debugging is enabled in Developer Options too and let it install the drivers while powered on and connected to the PC
I'd try another USB port too to rule that out
Which SBK/Serial is your TF?
EDIT -Another thought, are you running a stock ROM atm? Which one ?
You could try using Peri to flash TWRP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
I tried the Peri.

3w.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-tf101-development/33773-official-faq-katkiss-rom-formerly-teameos-4-android-4-2-x-tf101.html
Is there any other method, not using TWRP, to install KatKiss?
Update:
I also tried to install CM recovery, using the 3rd option of 1-Click Transformer Root. Again, I don't see anything to get installed (a blue bar is not showing) and it just reboots to Android.
Lately, I have a problem.
I get a "DMClient has stopped" error twice each time I turn the TF101 on. I think this is the ASUS update process. Can this be relevant?

Yes, I use the stock ROM, I never tried to install a custom ROM, until now.

Your TF is SBK1, so should have no problem getting a custom recovery flashed to it, the only thing I'm wondering is if the stock ROM is causing problems, I seem to remember someone else with stock having problems getting a modern custom recovery flashed too
Unfortunately the only way to flash KatKiss is from custom recovery TWRP as the ROMs are released in flashable .zip format
Do you have another PC you could use to try and flash TWRP via Easyflasher ?
What OS are you running on your PC ?
At least one of the methods you have tried should have definitely worked, so long as the TF is in APX mode, the drivers are installed, and the PC can see the TF, Easyflasher should have done the job
I never recommend flashing CWM as it screws with JB ROMs, but it might be worth trying to flash that recovery first, then a custom ICS ROM, after that if you get that far, try installing TWRP again before trying to flash a JB ROM
Just make sure you don't flash a JB ROM with CWM recovery installed

Hmm, you could try clearing the data / cache from DMClient in Settings > Apps > All
Code:
1. Settings
2. Applications
3. Running services
4. All
5. DMClient
6. Clear data
7. Force stop
8. Shut down and restart the tablet
Maybe there is an old update file stuck in cache causing problems
Have you tried factory resetting it 100% ?
I did a few things, at the same time.
1. Changed USB port.
2. Used the original EasyFlasher.
3. Cleared and force stopped the DMClient, which I believe did the trick.
Now, TWRP got installed, although It also did a hard reset to my device. When it opened, I had to setup the device like it was the first time I turn it on.
Anyway, I think I will continue to Kat Kiss installation now.
Thanks for your help.

Ah good news, yea it does sound as if the DMClient was stopping the install, Im not sure exactly how it works, but possibly if the TF thinks there is a pending update, it won't allow the flash until its cleared
Good thing you mentioned it, I was almost at a loss as to what was causing the problem
And yep, now you have it installed, make sure you are up to date 2.3.2.3 (Use GooManager to install the latest version), and then you can install any custom ROM you like from TWRP

I managed to root my TF101 using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193
The problem is I TWRP is not installed.
When I press Volume Down + Power buttons and then The Volume Up, my device goes to a screen with 2 icons, "Wipe Data" and "Android" and after 10 seconds it boots to Android. I assume this is the stock recovery.
I Tried:
1) Both EasyFlashers (http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html)
2) Goo Manager
3) Terminal Mathod (http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/109)
All of them failed.
Is there anything else for me to try?

this has a beta twrp zip that is flashable, maybe help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308565
Hello,
I'm trying to install the MarshMallow 6.0.1 Release on my TF101 (SBK2 -BBxxxxx) with stock rom IMLK74K.WW_epad-9.2.1.27-20120615 and easyflasher (universal naked drivers installed correctly on windows 10). I can flash it correctly but I have the same problem as lefterhs.
I have also tried different version of twrp, latest easyflasher, different USB ports, with USB debugging on the device, still same problem, only choice is android and wipe data.
I have also tried with CWM but I had the error can't mount SD card. Rooted with 1-click transformer root. I begin to believe I will not be able to change the ROM. Any idea?
Thanks,
EDIT: Problem solved, managed to flash Roach CWM 5.5.0.4 from EasyFlasher and flash TWRP 2.8.1.1 from zip inside Roach CWM 5.5.0.4 recovery. Then followed the procedure in https://forum.xda-developers.com/eee-pad-transformer/development/rom-t3318496. Katkiss is running on my tf101.
