[Q] Without Android - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum but I learnt a lot here and I'd like to start with a question.
Is it possible to run a linux distribution on an android phone with dual booting or run a distribution on it's own with the deletion of Android OS?

Sort of possible.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696659 but not on any android although some devices such as the transformer have been hacked to run linux instead of android.

Thank you mistermentality! I already knew the VPN method to run Ubuntu on top of Android with sharing the kernel.
Of course I've read everything here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696659 but what I want is to run a linux distro on an ARM cpu without Android, so on the smartphone only that particular linux distribution would run.
For example you could choose which OS to boot.
I've created a blog which is going to deal with this.

Running Windows Mobile apps in Android?

I understand this is a longshot but is there an emulator or something that allows windows mobile apps to run in Android?
I'm thinking something along the lines of Cydia or Wine for Linux.

hm. the OMS thing is an OS based on android just like android is based on linux. So I think that it is an entirely different os
Possibly IDT you can do that.

[Q] android on windows ce 6.0

hi everybody,
is there anyway to get android on windows ce 6.0
i've searched the web for it but i can only find this site:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/17295-windows-ce-and-android-firmware/
but the download links doesn't work anymore so does anyone know how to get android on windows ce?
i will be very happy if android can work on my windows ce tablet
greetings from the netherlands
I can't imaging anyone anywhere is working on an Android emulator to run under Windows CE 6.0.
Your only hope IMO would be to find someone who is working on develop an Android installation that runs NATIVELY on your hardware. In this case you are looking for "Android on XXXXX tablet", not "Android on Windows CE6.0"

hi,
i need to read out the fully sw version using USB for following platforms in a manufacturer independent way:
- android
- WP 7, 7.5
- blackberry
- symbian S40/S60

using additional tools like ADB or similar tools for the other platforms could be also an option, but i need advice how to do it.
or if it is possible using AT commands please specify these.

You should learn linux basics and if you want to develop apps, you should learn java.
I started with reading a lot and trying things out
First rooted a phone, flashed a ROM/Recovery then unpacked a rom and changed files etc. repacked it and flashed it
Step by step you get to know more and more
Sent from my BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps using XDA App
Browse the forums, it may learn from these a lot.
