Hi,
I'm running NSCollab 1.0.50 with franco.kernel from Nov. 8 on a I9020a.
I have a script set to enable blinking backlight notification by do this:
echo 1 > /sys/class/misc/backlightnotification/enabled
echo 1 > /sys/class/misc/backlightnotification/in_kernel_blink
My problems are:
1) Sometimes after I've turned the screen off the soft keys are still sensitive to touch and when I touch one they all light up and stay lit up until i turn the screen on and off again. This seems to only happen sometimes. I haven't nailed down when exactly this happens.
2) Sometimes (more like rarely) the screen will be off and I will have a notification but the power button will not turn the screen on. It seems as if the OS is still running though because I can still hear when a text comes in. I don't know if this is the famed Sleep of Death because it seems like just the screen is off but it might be.
3) This is less critical but ties in to point 2). If I use the app SMS Popup, when I get a text the screen will turn on and then go off by itself, the lights will start blinking but then if I get another kind of notification (like an e-mail) I will hear the notification sound but will not be able to wake up the screen with the power button. Again it seems as if the OS is still running to some extent. This is consistent behavior and I've just uninstalled SMS Popup to avoid the problem.
It seems as if all the problems go away if I turn off BLN. I know the problem in 3) definitely went away because the behavior was consistent and I was able to test. I just love BLN so darn much that it's hard to live without.
So, has anyone experienced similar behavior to what is mentioned above? Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there some problem with my setup?

I've had the same issues with some kernels like netarchy. Or matrix. I haven't figured out why it does that. Its weird.

I run CM7.1 and I haven't installed the BLN kernel because for me the soft keys automatically light up and stay on until I turn the screen on. I do also have the problem with soft keys lighting up when screen locked if I bump them but it doesn't happen very often.

Which ROM were you running with those kernels? I'm trying to nail it down to either the kernel or the ROM.
I had the same issue running Gummy with the matr1x kernel. Im trying a full wipe as I installed the kernel just wiping the cache. Might help, might not. Ill post results.
Does anyone know if there have been any solutions to this issue?
I am running the CM9 nightlies on my NS4G and I also find that the soft keys will light up after I turn off my screen. They don't go dark again until I turn the screen on an off again.
Has anyone been able to get Light Flow to work on the OnePlus One? I like light flow a lot better than the CM notification center, but I just can't seem to get it to work.
Has anyone here getten it to work? If so, mind sharing your settings?
So far I've had one person say it worked and two not!
Can you try and see if led color tester by coolbeans works on the phone (with lightflow either not installed or disabled) and let me know if that works?
I'm interested in this as well. I enjoy Lightflow so much more than any of the other notification apps I've tried. I'll be heartbroken if it doesn't work...
i used lightflow with paranoid android and it works fine on my oneplus one chinese version

I also have this app on my OnePlus One. I noticed that up until the most recent build that all my notifications were working. Gmail and stuff were all fine.
Is it me or did the latest build change something? When notifications come in I get a white light blinking. When I power my screen on and off again it seems like Light Flow then registers, and now I get green pulses.
I'm not sure if its the most recent build of Light Flow or if its because I added a second Gmail account). I am rooted so I'm on root mode, but maybe some of my settings are whacked?

Yep, have the same "issue". Before the last Update everything was fine..
No Light Flow issues here.
Just got my OnePlus One today. Installed, restored the app generated backup from my S4, good to go.
Some apps need to have their own LED setting disabled for LF to work properly since the last version.

I'm aware of this for some users and I've just pushed out an update (it should show in the play store over the next few hours) I've had a few people testing who had that issue and reports so far seem to be that it fixes that issue.

Just got my OPO today and Light Flow is working great. Just restored my backup from my Nexus 4 and no probs. Love the new UI too!

You sir are a hero. It no longer requires me to use Gravity Box UNC to override settings.
Question: Do you recommend for high end phones like the N5 and OPO to run in foreground or background? I see no issues with background on my OPO and the app doesn't get killed at all.
Second question: You're still going to roll out global settings someday right? Having to change speeds for every app is a bit annoying, or even custom blink settings.
Final question: Is it possible to adjust the brightness for the LED? I see a brightness option in the sleep options for night blinking, but adjustments for individual notifications? Would be nice to have global for this too

On the N5 I find it does work better with the option on, without it once every few days maybe it'll get killed off by android (which is fairly normal for any background service) so it'll miss a notification.

Yes that's still on the list. If google hadn't brought out android L I'd have been working on that, but I've had to divert my time to issues with that!

There's a global option for this (in lightflow, settings, general settings, led brightness), but not individual, you'd just have to use the custom color option at the moment.
Lightflow works for me.
I can't get LF working, or if it does work it just flashes white. I'm 100% stock/unrooted so is there anything else I need to activate to get it working? I had no issues with my previous Nexus 4/5 so it must be something silly!
EDIT: Reinstalled and seems to be working OK now, so obviously something I did wrong!

Is it possible to have the lights on even when the screen on? Is that the "Samsung direct mode?" I don't believe that worked on my other non Samsung devices, so I doubt it will work on the OPO.
I ask because CM's battery LED seems to by default remain on even when the screen is on or off.

Correction! There seems to be a small glitch: At the end of Charging when switching to Charged it seems to start switching between Charging and Charged rather than just using the Charged notification.
I've a fix coming for switching between charged and charging.
What 'Device Settings' is everyone running to make this work? Is anyone using:
Direct Mode?
Samsung root mode?
Reset color before change?
Nexus 5 force LED reset?
For some reason mine works for a period of time than I start getting SMS's and it stops working. I restart the app, but it doesn't continue to work again. Not sure what's going on.

The glitch seems to have exploded... nothing seems to be working now... not mail, not sms ... nothing. Tried to enable the root option but it makes no difference

The Nexus 5 thing is the only box I have checked (must've been by default since I didn't do it).

Not having any issues... maybe backup your notification settings and then wipe and restore them. Ensure LF has the proper notifications access, etc.

Nope. Nothing. Tried to clear the cache and data. Tested the notifications and nothing... Checked Notification access and tried enabling root mode. Still nothing... Phone is stock though rooted.

Does anyone know how to set up custom colour led notifications on s7? All I get is blue light. Tried light flow and light manager. It looks like Samsung made it difficult for some reason to set your own customised led notifications. Tried the recommended (by these led apps) "Samsung walkarounds" but still nothing. I tried
disabling notifications in Gmail, system's led notifications on ...nothing. Is there a fix for this?

Probably not. I corresponded with the LightFlow dev last year for a while regarding the issues with the S6. Basically Samsung has implemented their own code controlling the LED and it does not play nicely with LightFlow. He tried to implement some workarounds and there were some custom settings in LightFlow to try to get it to work but ultimately it was super buggy and never worked correctly. I ended up uninstalling LightFlow and just dealing with the stupid and unintuitive stock colors. :/

Thanks for reply. I wouldn't have a problem with keeping the stock led but it's pretty close to being useless. Blue light only for all notifications and even that is not reliable...and don't even start with red and green lights...I'm going to stop reading "professional" reviews because nothe even single one mentioned that led notifications on Samsung phones are screwed. Why Samsung decided to mess up this great and highly usefull and practicall feature is beyond me. This is exactly why people stick to Apple. Am ranting a bit, sorry.
Wonder if rooting & flashing custom rom helps with this.

I contacted the Dev in the weekend and this is a temp. fix.
In Lightflow, enable "Switch screen on" on all notifications that's not working, ex. phone, email, twitter, etc. Restart your phone and it should work. It works for me.
I swear by Lightflow. My favourite app.
So you have to have the screen come on every time you get a notification and then lightflow works as normal?
This is bringing back bad memories of hours messing around with this on my S6 lol.

Thanks but having screen switched on and off every time I get a new email isn't really an option for me. It would kill my battery in a few hours.

S7 - SM-G930F - 6.0.1 - unrooted
Light Manager is working fairly well for me. Different colors and 3 second interval.

Hmm, it actually seems to be working for me too, although I did get a message to install LightFlow Legacy app for some reason I can't remember now? And it said to disable the full version which is odd. All these strange workarounds thanks to sammy.
Eh it's partially working now. Blah.
So it seems to be working fairly well, except for Hangouts. It simply won't blink green as I have it set to. It seems to still use the default blue color and slow blink. Anyone else have this issue?
I use led blinker pro... No issues... Have full control over led colors, length of notifications, blink rate etc...

I already had that setup with the exception of the "device default" for the screen on time. Still doesn't work for me but I guess it's due to the fact that I have the always on display option turned on. This is reinforced by the fact that I get the blue LED until I turn the display on, and then the color I'd set after that.

Yep, that's the sign of the AOD issue. I decided LF gave me more useful information than AOD, so I turned AOD off. The LF developer is getting an S7, so hopefully he'll be able to figure fixes for these issues.
Light manager has been working almost perfectly for me with my exynos S7. The problem I am having now is that I can't find a way to stop gmail from causing the slow blue blinking LED and this always supersedes the light manager LED so if I get an SMS notification and then get an email the blinking blue light will cause the SMS notification to stop. So annoying. If I can figure out a way to stop this from happening I will post it.

Did you activate ambient display? It has to be set to turn on when a notification arrives.

Yup, its on together with new notification toggle. do you know if its for all incoming communications like text, email, whatsapp?

I tested it with WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Threema and BlueMail. It works flawlessly, though I would appreciate an update to customize the duration of the light, other colors and that it will be pulsating, etc.
Maybe a restart is going to fix your problem? Or try to turn off ambient display completely - restart - turn it on again. I read that others cleared data and cache of the app ambient display, that could work as well.

Strange but I dont see ambient display app even in system apps I cant find it.
Got it, still didnt help... guess factory reset is next.
Works for me also, too bad is only once. I hope a software update can add more options.

I was on chat with OP support because I have yet to see the horizon light turn on. I have tested notifications for various apps in a pitch black room with ambient display on, off, changing notification slider to all 3 positions, restarting the phone, hard resetting the phone (all the suggestions from OP support) and nothing fixed it. OP support asked me to film the issue and send to them so they could "isolate the root cause of the issue". FYI I am on OOS 9.5.3 in case that is a different. I feel like mine is defective since I have yet to see any sort of edge light up.

In the same boat just with a tmobile version running 9.5.5.
I didnt try factory reset yet, will try later..

Mine is an unlocked version direct from OnePlus....
Don't be too upset. Horizon lighting is absolutely useless in it's current state. OnePlus needs to work on this.

It just sucks that things dont work out the box. Same thing happen with volte, I had to go to a developer menu to enable the volte toggle.

Update to 10.0.1 or OB3. Original release of Android 10 didnt have working horizon light

When my phone is locked and the screen is off, notifications don't wake it up. The phone vibrates, the led lights up but the screen remains black. Does anyone have the same issue and know how to fix?

What ROM are you currently using? Also, have you verified that Do Not Disturb is disabled?

There should be a setting for allowing the Notifications to wake up the display. I think that is disabled on your ROM, so try looking for it and turning it ON.

You're right. I can't believe I spent so much time go through all the settings, even turn on Develop but have never noticed this option under Lock screen. Thanks!
