If not stated in a thread, when should a file get renamed to this and loaded instead of running the recovery and choosing the file you want?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Wrong thread buddy.
Bring this to the Q&A thread.
Buuut to answer your question.....
Download a splash screen, rename it to PC36IMG.zip (if it isn't already named that), Turn off your phone and pull the battery, re-insert the battery, press down on the volume rocker and hold that while you then hold down the power button, wait for it to flash to your HBOOT, when it asks if you want to update, say yes, and when it asks if you want to reboot, select yes, or no if you want to go into your recovery for whatever reason.
Wrong section to be asking this. This should be in q/a section.

1. Take iPhone 4S battery cover off.
2. Take iPhone 4S battery out.
3. Reinsert the battery and cover.
4. Go into 'Android' mode by holding the 'Home' button along with the 'Camera' button.
5. Once in Android mode simply find the update.zip and flash.
6. If you have any problems, call HTC Customer Support.
ENJOY!

Oh man.
I'll see what I can do. Maybe editing the build.prop a bit and changing the Model Number to "iPhone 4S" will do the trick. I'll PM you once I figure this out. Take care, my man

I'm sorry I am new here hand I read somewhere on these forums that renaming the ROM too update.zip helps in the recovery install if I am a noob to it. Over on Androidforum I was told DFU was just the same as recovery just apples way. Thank you for your help
1. Hold iPhone up 1 mm in the air
2. Drop it
3. Return the shattered iPhone
4. Buy a Skyrocket
5. Flash NexusMod

You can't.. You keep asking how to do these things without root, and most of it just isn't possible. Sounds like you need to just take the plunge and root your phone.

why don't ROM devs pack ROMs into Odin-tars rather than in zip files and make us format-all and unzip through CWM. it seems like we'd have more uniform and error free installs this way. . .

You still have to tibu son Odin don't magically bring back your apps as far as wiping omg dark side superwipe a one shot wipe method and less likely to brick cuz with Odin if you forget one tiny check box your phone is done and you have to jtag any other brain busting arguments you would like me to shoot down

To answer your question...
Odin TARs aren't foolproof. Odin itself is finicky, and computers can be picky about which of the 4-5 USB ports Odin will actually use, then there's making sure to check off the correct options in Odin or you can (VERY) easily brick your device (messing up partitions)
Now I'm no developer, but between Android and Windows phones and the hundreds of flashes I've done, I prefer the zip file CWM method

Im not trying to get hand fed... i researched this before i asked believe me
Try this one
su
mkdir /data/system/theme
chmod 777 /data/system/theme
cd /system/etc/init.d
I think that's what I had done for my gf phone to get themes working. I don't own a skyrocket myself.
That should create the proper theme folder needed and set the proper permissions for it to work.
Oh also the reason you do not see the folder system under data is due to the file explorer you are using either does not have root permissions or does not support viewing the files. ES File Explorer needs settings change to view root folders before you are able to see it. Well long story short just use those commands in a Terminal Emulator app and you should be good.

no, cwm6 isnt the touch one, theres a separate code source for CWM Touch. but there is a beta CWM 6 for our device, just USB host doesnt work. its in the original CWM flash, towards the last posts. I'd be absolutely thrilled to get CWM Touch though
me, too.
I'll look into it.
