Well... When the Galaxy 7.7 Tab for Verizon (which uses the same radio as the Charge) gets updated to ICS, the devs may be able to use the RIL to get data working on CM9. If that happens, then we may see Jelly Bean in the form of CM9.1. So, it's still possible. It just won't be an OTA.

We don't have a roadmap for ICS yet, so I believe the timetable for JB is pretty much "HAHAHAHA".

The Charge will see Jelly Bean when the moon has an atmosphere and is ready for settlement...

You make a good point. Dec 21 is the end of the world...we need a harbinger. Jellybean on the Charge on Dec 20 seems like a good one...

I have given up optimistic about this phone. The only ones doing anything good for it are the devs which I am very thankful for.

So does that mean Dwitherell is the only developer we have left? We're stuck with the PB&J 0524 kernel? It's a good thing my phone is running good.
The US high courts have banned sales of the Nexus due to patent squabbles with Apple. Next Apple will probably go after the Galaxy SIII. I guess we should all just give up and go get ourselves an iPhone.
Would someone please point out where the light at the end of the tunnel is?

I agree. It really seems like the basis for some of these injunctions are as generic as patenting a keyboard as "a horizontal surface with the letters and numbers arranged in an arbitrary fashion with the purpose of providing an input to a software system". Maybe there is more to it than I realize, but I don't understand how some of these things hold up.
I mean, wasn't one of Apple's complaints with Touchwiz the square icons?
It wouldn't be so maddening if it weren't so hypocritical. Look at ios 4, 5, and 6 and compare them to Froyo
ios 4: Look, now you have folders and multitasking. Aren't we innovative?
ios 5: Look at our game changing notifications bar, wireless syncing, and voice commands! You can even share items from other apps on Twitter and Twitter only!
ios 6: Now you can share things on Facebook too! INNOVATION!
I mean, I don't care that Apple incorporates solid features into their phones just like I don't care if/when Android incorporates solid ios features into the OS. But the hypocrisy to be like (read this in the comic book guy from The Simpson's voice) "we're all innovative and stuff and you guys are just stealing our ideas so we're going to sue you" is frustrating.
I don't see how its gone so far as to not be interpreted by the courts as a limiting of competition type scenario, but I don't claim to be well versed enough in the laws to make a real argument about it. My frustrations are largely in principle.

Here's some interesting reading about all the crappy stuff industries and governments do. I've been reading it for a few years now. It's pretty sickening.

from my understanding, IMNUTS primarily developed the kernels for the charge. I have not really heard of anyone else aside from Tonsit (but I haven't heard from Tonsit since his initial release of FP1 PBJ).
Dwith just develops the tweaked ROM, and does a damn good job of that too.
I suspect that if there is a VZW update to the charge, someone will come out of the woodworks with something for us. but otherwise, I'm quite content with tweaked to the point where I'm not even thinking about ICS or Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie...

To explain the negative feedback you've gotten thus far, porting to the Thunderbolt is far more complicated than to the Droid 1. The part of the OS that interacts with the radio is (as of yet) unique to the Thunderbolt and essentially has to be reverse-engineered. Slayher and toastcfh are working on a port of CM7 but it is an extremely difficult project for this reason. It's a whole different ballgame on this phone. Nothing to do with the amount of love for it. If there were no love for it, Slayher would not be working so hard to develop a port of CM7.
Who are you referring to? Verizon or the modding community? Verizon continues to hype their 4G network and the Thunderbolt with it. I'm sure HTC has Android 2.3.4 so we'll see what they do with it. The modding community has been pretty good about building off the most recent AOSP builds, but with the Thunderbolt having the 4G radio it has taken a little longer. Give it time. The OG Droid has been around much longer and more people own it than the Thunderbolt. As people upgrade you'll see more and more development for this phone. Personally I'm very happy with how quickly the Thunderbolt was rooted and how quickly devs started tweaking things.

Official updates? Probably not till later this summer and who knows if it will be 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. We'll likely see if in CM 7 long before an official OTA

Considering the fact that this phone has barely been out for a month and a half i think the dev is going pretty good. I think that's why people are giving you crap for this post.
There's a few threads on getting 2.3 working on the thunderbolt so its a wip at this point. Htc is supposed to release 2.3 "soon" anyways.

Hey, don't knock the OG Droid. That was a great little phone. It was my first Android phone.
The only reason I made my comment is because all the OP needed to do was click on TB development to see all the ROMs and support for this device. For only being out a month, there's a crazy amount of support.
OG Droid still rocks, I have one in front of me.
But dude obviously doesn't remember the wait for 2.1 on the OG.
put a nice silicone cover on it (sexual references meant) then show it love!
Only then can it be shown proper love .... lol
Sorry had this coming <<<<<
Anyway The Devs Are Doing The Thunderbolt Much Justice and are working and slaving for this device so there showing the love

Agreed. I've only used an iPhone briefly and strongly prefer android but there's no denying how smooth iOS seems to run. Jellybean makes this phone run just as smooth and overall I think faster still. Virtually no delay on anything, it's really nice to use like this

please tell me YOURE joking. I'm not biased. I like both OS's (own an iPhone 4S, SGS3, GNex, and iPad) But as someone stated, give credit where its due. iPhones are extremely smooth n responsive. You must have had a factory defected iPhone cuz I never held an Android phone that was as responsive as an iPhone. But I love how Android was able to give that iPhone like smoothness and even top it. No, I'm really not joking. lol
I have never "had" or will have an iphone, but i've held/played with 3 or 4 different ones that belonged to acquaintances and I wasnt impressed.
I didnt find them super "smooth", nor any more 'responsive' than my only current Android device (Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0)
I don't think all 3 or 4 were 'defective', do you?
I've heard complaints from numerous people telling me how slow/unresponsive/crappy their iphones are..
and my little bit of experience with them .. only strengthens the owners/users words.
I've even had a few friends give up their iphones (and ipods) and switch to android after they actually used an Android.
I don't know..
Kinda seems to me like the iphones that you guys claim are "smooth and fast and super responsive" are the "defective" ones.
Which would kind of fit for apple..
completely backasswards. lol

For all those comments regarding this iPhone vs android crap..... You do realize just how unequivocally seat of the pants and subjective all of it is? I can pick up 2 identical S3s and one will feel faster. I can drive to identical civics and of course mine is going to be faster because it's red. I wonder how many others read these posts and roll their eyes and question the intelligence of those writing them.
Keep it on task for once. JB is great. iOS 6 will be great. They are both phone eco systems with pluses and minuses. Stick or automatic. Total driver preference.
Now where are these CM10 builds!

I flashed the 8/16 awesome, slicker than snot on a door knob, clean as a whistle and fast as hell, but not a daily driver at least not for me, wonky data seemed to get better signal but dropped often, mild screen flickers every once and a while, had issues with netflix, nfl mobile, MMS worked but I had issues signing into xda for some reason, and after booting back up after a cwr backup I lost my data (IMEI, MEID read unknown) restored a backup and they were all back to normal......I think I sharted a little but luckily it was easily remedied.
I completely wiped everything even internal sd went back to bone stock, rooted then unlocked. Waited 10 minutes before I even touched the phone after flashing, said three hail Marries, and threw a horse shoe over my shoulder lol
I highly recommend wiping everything and going back to bone stock first for one it will rule out any ghosts in the closet that may come back to haunt you, and it also keeps the forums from clogging up with people asking for help getting rid of those ghosts, you're more of a control when you start from scratch and when you have problems you won't be using up the devs valuable time hunting down wild geese, that have nothing to do with CM.

Great phone, few annoyances
Overall I think it's a great phone, with a lot of potential. The battery life blows the Epic out of the water, the reception is WAY better, and the keyboard is amazing once you get past the initial learning curve.
Even the stock ROM is not that bad.. My only real gripe is the lack of any toggle buttons in the notifications menu. That drives me insane, I use those constantly and HATE having to go into the settings every time I want to turn anything on or off.
I am, however, eagerly awaiting a root method and some custom ROM goodness. Which will quite easily take care of the majority of my gripes (besides the non-removable battery).

I hated that damn epic. this phone is superior in every way. contrary to the "bigger is better" hype, I like the size of the phone. It fits nicely in my hand and I don't have to be a contortionist to get my fingers across the screen. the only issue I have to complain about so far, besides the lack of toggles, is that if you have head phones or a bluetooth device connected, the notifications play thru it instead of the back speak. But that could user error on my part.. It isn't that much thicker than the original Photon. I'm holding them both in my hands right now and the weight isn't that much different either, especially for a slider. I'm not in to much of a hurry for any custom roms. but it would be nice to have root. I'm sure shabby or one of the other great devs will have that taken care of soon enough...

There are other alternatives, just giving 1 example.
So far, my thoughts on this device are that it is amazing! This could just be because i'm upgrading from a DROID Eris from Verizon, but this device does just about everything right!
The keyboard is by far the best one I've used on a mobile device, its very tactile and the back light is bright and adjustable. The phones performance is top notch, no lag in apps or just scrolling around. I've even gotten my ps1,n64,and gba emulators running great with keys mapped to the keypad
My internet browsing experience is been quite good, even though I'm still using sprint's 3g network, all websites load up quick and are smooth.
The screen looks fantastic, although it isn't full HD, colors are vibrant and watching videos is great on the phone. Overall, i am VERY pleased with the device so far, and i cant wait to see what developers have in store for it!

Better than the Galaxy S III?
So, the question for me is how does it compare to the Galaxy SIII?
Well the sg3 was out because samsung does not update crap. So I was leaning towards the htc evo lte when I heard about the photon q. Sometimes I have to compose some sizable emails for work and the touch typing can get pretty frustrating in those situations, so I end up using my epics keyboard a lot. Even thought about getting the htc and a blackberry just for emails for work

i did actually, froyo came a little slower but i understand why, back then AOSP was really closed off towards just the nexus one. you want proof in that look at how long it took from eclair to froyo vs froyo to gb, samsung had based the nexus s off its samsung galaxy line so it was able to know how to have the code work on the humming bird a hell of a lot sooner. in fact the gingerbread update was posted the day ICS was announced, thus making the epic only 1 update "behind". granted its two now but its also past its two year mark (or rather tomorrow it will be, i remember picking mine up on august 31st 2010 launch day)
the epic 4g touch launched with gingerbread not that long ago it got ics and will prolly get jellybean someday. sgs3 launched with ICS and the tmo version already has leaks of JB, meaning it will prolly happen soon.
now lets compare that to the photon (im sure a few other moto phones fit this bill) launched with 2.3.4, after 7?8? months got an update to 2.3.5 instead of ICS, ICS is coming later this year which means it will only be one update behind until Key Lime is released this november, what do you think the odds are of the photon getting jellybean officially? so as of this november it will be 2 behind and stay that way, considering photon owners are 1 year into their 2 year agreement for that device doesnt leave a lot of hope.

[BOUNTY][REACHED]Let's get nitroglycerine33 Eclipse ROM on our s3

The bounty has been reached! Thanks XDA! I'll update the OP when Nitro had a phone.
UPDATE: phone had been purchased and week be doing it Monday, confirmed by hesh.monster
FINAL UPDATE: NITRO JUST GOT HIS S3.... HERE WE GO!
If you haven't heard of Eclipse ROM you've probably been living under a rock. If you have heard of them, then you know of the unmatched stability and speed. Not to mention sheer beauty!
nitroglycerine33 is already working on a ROM for the s3, but doesn't own the device. This limits the testing and work he can do, so we need to get him one! I figure 450 is about the average price for one. So let's set that as a goal, nitro says he's already got 20 towards that goal. His donation link is at the bottom of this post. Please post your donation so I can keep track of the total. All donations are going straight to him and if we get more then what we spend on the device it will stay with him as a donation for his hard work.
Also I just sent 40 so now we're at 60 total only 390 to go! Let's get some Eclipse!

Solid. Stable. Sexy. Support.
That's Eclipse.
Get some
Sent from my S3
eclipse ROMs are more like AOSP roms, at least that's what it was on my DX2. correct me if i'm wrong
He made a great Rom for the Fascinate, Evil Fascination, based off touchwiz. It was the only Rom i ran for about a year. It was that good

I dunno man, a bunch of people bought him a Bionic and he never did **** with it. Kept saying he was gonna make an ICS Eclipse ROM but always had a story about how he was waiting for OTA. He could/should have built it on the leaks but he didn't. He was more focused on other devices. Just food for thought.

Yes his ROMs are usually similar to AOSP. Even his stock based use a lot of AOSP apps (dialer, gallery, camera, etc). They are oh so sexy, and incredibly stable and his support if the ROM it's unrealistic. If there's a problem he fixes it!

I couldn't agree more. I ran Eclipse on my charge and my RAZR Maxx I woods veer off and try others (,I think I have a problem) but would always come back to eclipse.

I don't know what happened on the bionic, but I do know that his ROM was great for both the RAZR and charge. He also doesn't release a ROM that isn't stable. He also already has a build for the s3 just needs some bug fixing. Which is hard to do without the phone.

Wow dude.. so two full builds from the last two gingerbread updates is nothing? Supporting builds for months and building blind for months is nothing? Just because I thought ICS was coming soon I never put out an official build. How do you think i built version 3.0?
ICS leaks were coming weekly for a little while there... I love people like you who feel entitled to things.

I have never ran or heard of your roms (not trying to bash) but I donate to devs that get the device themselves and then show us their skills... I have a hard time donating to someone that should be able to get the phone somehow...? I am living on a set income but found a way to get this device because I love new tech but the comment above makes me think that you think your entitled to a G3 cause your a good dev that needs one (which I don't doubt).. Just sayin... Your work is hugely appreciated but you can find ways of getting the device yourself and then if your that good at what you do then your S3 will be paid for VERY quickly! Once again... Not trying to flame in ANY way shape or form... I would donate in a heartbeat if your roms are as good as people say but you just gotta get that S3 like a bunch of other devs have done on their own.

Unfortunately, most people don't bother to donate to a dev so on top of the time they invest in making the ROM they are also buying these devices. Nitro is a great dev and this bounty was set up because I and others want his work to come to the s3 NOT because nitro just wants a new phone. He already has many other devices he works on and bought himself. So I appreciate your view and agree IF it actually worked that way were people took care of there Devs but it doesn't.

Like I said I would NEVER bash a dev cause they MAKE this community what it is!! I donate to at least 2 devs a month and $10 at the very least... It's to bad others don't do the same... Granted it is a hobby for most devs that they LOVE doing but they also get treated like crap and people think that the dev owes them a fix right now!!! LOL That's not the case... I hope nitro does get a G3!! :good:

The guys got two kids, a wife, and a full-time job. Additionally, he's never abandoned a device, even when he's running something else. Heard of the X2? He saved it. He doesn't make it a habit to build off leaks, as many devs do. Want to know why? Because stability is his number one concern. This guy builds for YOU while he is working, or in between diaper changes.
What have you done for android? Besides make yourself look like an ass in here?
How many one man teams do you know that does that? Huh? Anyone? Exactly. People like you don't deserve to have fancy, fun devices. Go get an iPhone and take your ****ty, ungrateful attitude somewhere else. Or build something yourself.
See you guys in a week or so. I'll take a ban to defend a stand up dev/person.
Peace.

I had the bionic and ran his rom. damn right he made it great. why build off of a leak anyway. the leaks were coming so fast it was crazy. imagine having to start over every time. its called time management. building off of leaks seems like a good idea till you do it (I tried and failed miserably. but got a new phone out of it) I would suspect that you were not one of the ones that donated for the bionic because you did not say a bunch of "us ".so why is it any skin off of your back? thanks for the x and bionic Rome can't wait to run the gs3 version.

Just buy the s4 that's what I'm gonna do. In with the new, out with the old
sent from the scary door.....
I won't touch the S4 until it's been out a few months.
I'm done with buying brand new phones and flashing this or that AOSP port while all the kinks get worked out.
Better to stick with the S3 until ROM's & accessories are widely available for the S4.
Oh, but I WILL be going S4 as soon as that first killer AOSP ROM is finally bug free.
It took three months on the S3 for that to happen. Then it sucked again while everyone dumped the ICS AOSP before finishing adding all the extra super cool features, and instead started working on JB AOSP. Which took another three months to get all the features & bugs worked out.

Agreed... even today's AOSP ROMs for the i747 still suck IMHO !!
No offense to the devs, there just not there yet for me to hop on the train... but they're getting closer by the day!

On the GS2? No way, so many people are having SOD issues! If I had one I'd have a Rom on that thing no questions asked.

This is all a matter if opinion. As some dislike the bloat and useless features of TW. Saying nothing of their bloated pointless framework files.

Right.
Age has probably just caught up with me as I do not feel the urge to flash my phones anymore.
Even my good ol' international GS1 isn't up to par anymore even though I still use it almost every day.
It's lagging at leat 4 versions behind in both ROM and kernel lol
We might not even have to wait for a port. Look at the comments in that article, someone with a leaked 4.2 for i9300 (international GS3) shows a screenshot with "Smart Scroll"!
Worthiness: I worry about implementation. Facial recognition is nothing new; we've had that for decades. Retinal recognition (or pupil, I guess) sounds too new. And will it work everywhere? Do all apps have a "scroll" function? What about Flipboard and Currents, which are more like "next page" functions?

You're really missing out then. Some of the new 4.2.2 ROM's like CyanogenMod, LiquidSmooth and Vanilla Rootbox are pretty freakin incredible lately. All the good options are starting to go back into the AOSP ROM's now. And these are very reliable also.
I haven't had an SOD since 4.1.2.
I am looking foward to seeing this in action maybe i will spend less time cleaning my screen lol
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/03/06...ts-leak-confirm-smart-scroll-and-smart-pause/
It's not eye-scrolling. It's head-angle detecting. So, if you lean your head "down," it scrolls. And it can be adjusted per application (Chrome and GMail are two 3rd party apps listed with support).
~Ibrahim~
i as well just bought my s3 on a separate line and only cause i bought it refurb for 29$ to hold me off till the s4. but i also agree on waiting the usual 3+ months.
