Where are all the ROM devs?

I see a couple people but where are all the roms? google even released 2.3.4 source but I haven't seen the explosion of developement for this phone yet. despite a few issues this phone is one badass phone. after i got one without screen bleed and really sunk into it this phone is better that any android i've ever used and has features the Samsung Galaxy S 2 won't have such as nvidia tegra 2 which in my opinion is a much more solid piece of hardware and a much more well known company than the one on the SGS 2. and Smartshare, Ultra dolby digital mobile!!! this phone is the ****! plus i heard bionix was coming to this phone via team whiskey! I see faux released a rom and he doesn't even have the phone! we have a good start but....
Where are the devs!!!??? please we need you people. you guys make phones these expensive things worth purchasing for the insane amounts of money they cost. oh mighty development lords, please develope!

Totally disagree, maybe for someone with some flashing experience yes, but for noobs it would be a total mess, flashing o2x roms on g2x phones... not to mention wrong kernels, maybe even radios...not a nice thought..

+1 would be a disaster.

I agree development is slower than I'd expected..

I was gonna make a ROM, but the stock ROM with Titanium Backup is best for me. If you build AOSP you lose the awesome Camera app that LG wrote and you lose all the cool apps that come with the G2x.
For me I just uninstall the apppack app and freeze the wifi calling app and I'm good to go.
I tried the GB build and it had GPS issues and didn't have the nice camera app.
So I'm happy with the stock setup with a few tweaks.

The Vibrant has been out for 10 months. The G2x has been out for barely 2.
Development will come.. It takes some time though. Not every Android dev has the cash to buy a new phone every time one comes out.

It would help if anyone could build a kernel from the lg source that didn't break wifi and bt. All attempts have failed.....

I don't remember really seeing any major development for the Vibrant until after 2 Months!
And we already have a. 2.3.3 and a 2.3.4 Rom out!

i agree. guess i feel spoiled from all the vibrant support. i figured this phone would explode fast in dev. since we had root so fast and dual core, plus being a google phone. hopefully t-mobile gets off their ass and releases the official gingerbread like they promised before i purchased my phone (which was the ONLY reason i even was ok with purchasing an android 2.2 again). maybe that'll fix the problem ttabbal was talking about with the kernels.

PROBLEM with TBOLT DEVs

When the Tbolt first launched, there was so much anticipation and excitement, as the threads were alive daily with so many different types of ROMS.
Now they all seem to be moving away from Xda.. is it the community or is it the phone.. I can definitely say the golden era for the TBOLT are over, its probably good compare to other phones, but it seems like its on a downhill descend.

There was a somewhat similar spirited thread started yesterday. It's locked now, and this one may well share a similar fate shortly. That' said, I'm not aware of any devs that have left XDA in a while. There's plenty of devices that have far less development than the Tbolt. The ROM count in the dev section is hardly a useful measure of development and progress. Allow me to point out a couple things you haven't considered.
The last OTA will likely be the last Froyo OTA. Normally, an OTA would spur on a new wave of ROM updates, but this isn't the case because of 2 factors. The OTA was only marginally better than the MR2 leak that some already built ROMs on, and Froyo is pretty much old news since the leak back in July of GB proved to be approaching OTA release quality. That's been the base of Gingeritis for a while now, and is becoming the base for uberBAMF and several others. BAMF is an issue all it's own, where their Sense, deSensed, and ReMixed ROMs made for a veritable plethora. It appears they'be given up on Froyo development and focused in GB, and in a manner that will avoid 3 or more flavors of the same base. Because of all of this, yes, you're definitely seeing a certain reduction of active ROM threads, not just here, but across any development site.
It makes little sense to assume devs are leaving to go to other platforms because, at the moment, the Tbolt is still the cream of the crop, especially on Verizon. And before someone points out the EVO 3D, I'd like to point out Sprint's lack of LTE which makes all that power rather pointless.... It's just another over-juiced phone on a substandard network; a situation that's been the case on every carrier until LTE arrived.

Oh and BTW there are tons of ROMs and Kernels and Mods and devs for the TBolt.

There is plenty of development. All the developers that left post on a different forum now.

I've got an Inc 2 and a tbolt. I'm happier with the Inc 2. I never had 4g so no big deal for me.

1. the bionic is essentially an lte droid x2 and cvcps who brought cm7 to the droid x, d2, and d2g (the latter 2 through others adapting his work with 2nd init) has a bionic and is doing it...theres nothing surprising in that really..as long as moto didnt change much around
2. jt1134 is it essentially when it comes to sgs cdma aosp in terms of getting it going...he *just* got a charge a few weeks ago and its bad esn/damaged and hes still made a lot of progress...if anyone can do it on a phone that has crazy samsung coding and ril mess its him
if you *really* wanted aosp you should only buy phones that have it already

yeah and the guy who got the fascinate aosp is working on it now...but touchwiz is screwier than blur under the hood
if not for the encrypted bootloaders, motorola would have the easiest skinned phones to have aosp on as there are the least changes from stock android

If you wanted AOSP so badly, you should have waited for it to be available on an LTE phone before you bought one. Buyers remorse is no reason to come onto the forums and ***** about not getting something that's unsupported and done in the developer's free time.

I needed a phone and its usually tmobile that gets the true android experience phones. Verizon always has bloatware. I didn't know the 3rd nexus was coming to verizon when I got my phone

I have used CM7 before, and I love it. I look forward to it coming just as much as a lot of people. But I'm not going to get pissed about it because development is going slower than I would like in the perfect world that exists in my brain. I don't get pissed because I know I'm unable to contribute to the process, so I have to just sit and wait patiently.
If you were contributing code daily and fixing issues, and the rest of the people working on the project weren't doing as much as you or stalling on the project, then maybe you'd have an angle for getting upset. But as it stands, you just need to STFU and wait for JT to make a breakthrough like the rest of us.

Really? Do you know where you are? This is XDA, Im pretty sure most of us here have used CM7 in some way. Not everyone here is a noob, fagtroll.
Also, since you posted this, moderators, members, presidents, ceo's, governors, senators and Samsung devs alike have all taken great interest in getting YOU CM7 and making sure YOUR android experience is the best it can possibly be. Rest assured there is a team working hard in your (timgt) favor. Can I powder your bottom? Do you need a hot towel? Just let us know, and I'm sure there will be a team of experts on it likity split.

I used cm7 for a while in my DroidX but ended up swapping to Liberty because I wanted my HDMI port to work.

Inexperience has absolutely nothing to do with the responses that have been posted here. It is rude and in all honesty a sign of your inexperience for you to complain about the speed of development. You are neither contributing nor populating the forums with decent honest questions or any positive material!
This is the exact reason that most devs have left xda alltogether. So take your whiney ass somewhere else or better yet sell your charge and use the money to get an iphone...

I used CM7, OMFGB, and jt1134's Vanilla GB on the fascinate, but I have nothing to contribute in the way of development of a ROM except for thorough testing. So I calmly wait and accept the fact I am on the dev's timetable. I suggest you do the same. Couple of things for you to consider:
1) Read the stories about CM7 on the Bionic. Everything I read said it booted on the phone, but is nowhere near functional enough for release. From what I have read of jt's progress on CM7 for the Charge, he is ahead of the Bionic progress.
2) Have you noticed some of the most respected devs, Nitsuj17 and Adrynalyne, have started chiming in here and are telling you to stfu? Especialy Nitsuj17, he is one of the nicest guys I have seen across many forums. It's a truly rare occasion when he responds to someone the way he did here, so good job. That to me is a big clue you are talking out of your ass and are the real clueless one.
Next time you open your mouth it would be a good idea to first remove you head from your ass. It prevents you from spouting nothing but a bunch of ****.

I think it will be considering the great progress some of these guys are making. Besides we will have(most likely) multiple Roms, before LG even thinks about the OTA.

Lol I know even nexus one is running ics, NVIDIA is a joke, the sad part it no one want to buy this phone either.

The Nexus One was destined for high end development anyways...But even the freaking HD2 now has ICS. Now thats ridiculous
But yah, ICS really has nothing to be depressed over. Except for the hardware acceleration capability...now CM9 is a whole other thing. But i'm sure CM9 will be available way before LG drops the major update.

I spent a few hours installing ICS on my daughter's Samsung Vibrant. It was nice to play with but not totally earth shattering. Some UI changes (improvements?), some different features. I was very excited about ICS now after spending some time with it, I can be patient and for the developers to work it out.

I don't think there will be any official ICS from LG or Tmo considering the g2x is already discontinued.

must just be your HD2 because it runs well on my Vibrant.
Anyway, we will probably see ICS from LG at some point but that will be the last update this phone gets.

I have ICS Passion 10.6 on my vibrant and its flawless and super fast. Still hoping I dont throw my g2x against the wall before before it finally gets it.
Let not your heart be troubled.

Before you smash the G2x, flash Phoenixblood rom + Faux latest cm kernel and let us all know how you feel about your G2x then lol
I think just about all of us are anticipating cm9 but i believe i have found the best cm7 experience with 0 flaws imo with PhoenixBlood rom

To me is not really about ics, its about how they treat us (g2x users) if it wasn't for cm7/cerqueira this phone would be nothing, im glad i got a good one but many people got ****ty phones and the only reason they did gb was because of the lawsuit. They don't want to give us a fish (updates) and they sure as hell don't want to teach us how to fish (drivers).
I for sure dont want nothing to do with lg/nvidia, had a chance to get 2 cheap LG tvs for xmas, went with another more expensive brand!

Well lets not be silly here. LG makes some bomb ass TV's and I wouldn't mind owning one at a good price. I just wouldn't buy another phone from them for obvious reasons, but that's completely different than TV's.

It ran fine without any bug and everything working. It sucks because there is no CM Settings menu.....thats where most of the feature that I use daily are located. losing all those features to gain better new looks is pointless.

I like this phone but, because of the lack of support for it, not LG, NVIDIA and Google. Although it's blasphemy stating this on an Android focused website forum, because of the total messup with this phone, except for the devotion of independent developers and others who support/supported this phone, I will not be buying anything with NVIDIA in it, made by LG, and probably not Android. I am going to seriously consider phones which run the new Windows OS and the iPhone 5 when it comes out.

If you haven't heard of Eclipse ROM you've probably been living under a rock. If you have heard of them, then you know of the unmatched stability and speed. Not to mention sheer beauty!
nitroglycerine33 is already working on a ROM for the s3, but doesn't own the device. This limits the testing and work he can do, so we need to get him one! I figure 450 is about the average price for one. So let's set that as a goal, nitro says he's already got 20 towards that goal. His donation link is at the bottom of this post. All donations are going straight to him and if we get more then what we spend on the device it will stay with him as a donation for his hard work.

He made a great Rom for the Fascinate, Evil Fascination, based off touchwiz. It was the only Rom i ran for about a year. It was that good

I dunno man, a bunch of people bought him a Bionic and he never did **** with it. Kept saying he was gonna make an ICS Eclipse ROM but always had a story about how he was waiting for OTA. He could/should have built it on the leaks but he didn't. He was more focused on other devices. Just food for thought.

Yes his ROMs are usually similar to AOSP. Even his stock based use a lot of AOSP apps (dialer, gallery, camera, etc). They are oh so sexy, and incredibly stable and his support if the ROM it's unrealistic. If there's a problem he fixes it!

I couldn't agree more. I ran Eclipse on my charge and my RAZR Maxx I woods veer off and try others (,I think I have a problem) but would always come back to eclipse.

I don't know what happened on the bionic, but I do know that his ROM was great for both the RAZR and charge. He also doesn't release a ROM that isn't stable. He also already has a build for the s3 just needs some bug fixing. Which is hard to do without the phone.

Wow dude.. so two full builds from the last two gingerbread updates is nothing? Supporting builds for months and building blind for months is nothing? Just because I thought ICS was coming soon I never put out an official build. How do you think i built version 3.0?
ICS leaks were coming weekly for a little while there... I love people like you who feel entitled to things.

Man you are so off and wrong here. Been using eclipse for years. Droid X2, Wife's Bionic Still, my galaxy nexus, and both our nexus 7. Nitro puts out the best!!

I have never ran or heard of your roms (not trying to bash) but I donate to devs that get the device themselves and then show us their skills... I have a hard time donating to someone that should be able to get the phone somehow...? I am living on a set income but found a way to get this device because I love new tech but the comment above makes me think that you think your entitled to a G3 cause your a good dev that needs one (which I don't doubt).. Just sayin... Your work is hugely appreciated but you can find ways of getting the device yourself and then if your that good at what you do then your S3 will be paid for VERY quickly! Once again... Not trying to flame in ANY way shape or form... I would donate in a heartbeat if your roms are as good as people say but you just gotta get that S3 like a bunch of other devs have done on their own.

Unfortunately, most people don't bother to donate to a dev so on top of the time they invest in making the ROM they are also buying these devices. Nitro is a great dev and this bounty was set up because I and others want his work to come to the s3 NOT because nitro just wants a new phone. He already has many other devices he works on and bought himself. So I appreciate your view and agree IF it actually worked that way were people took care of there Devs but it doesn't.

Like I said I would NEVER bash a dev cause they MAKE this community what it is!! I donate to at least 2 devs a month and $10 at the very least... It's to bad others don't do the same... Granted it is a hobby for most devs that they LOVE doing but they also get treated like crap and people think that the dev owes them a fix right now!!! LOL That's not the case... I hope nitro does get a G3!! :good:

The guys got two kids, a wife, and a full-time job. Additionally, he's never abandoned a device, even when he's running something else. Heard of the X2? He saved it. He doesn't make it a habit to build off leaks, as many devs do. Want to know why? Because stability is his number one concern. This guy builds for YOU while he is working, or in between diaper changes.
What have you done for android? Besides make yourself look like an ass in here?
How many one man teams do you know that does that? Huh? Anyone? Exactly. People like you don't deserve to have fancy, fun devices. Go get an iPhone and take your ****ty, ungrateful attitude somewhere else. Or build something yourself.

I had the bionic and ran his rom. damn right he made it great. why build off of a leak anyway. the leaks were coming so fast it was crazy. imagine having to start over every time. its called time management. building off of leaks seems like a good idea till you do it (I tried and failed miserably. but got a new phone out of it) I would suspect that you were not one of the ones that donated for the bionic because you did not say a bunch of "us ".so why is it any skin off of your back? thanks for the x and bionic Rome can't wait to run the gs3 version.
