Here is the STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:
You need to have your eVo Rooted.. Like always I am not responsible for anything that you do to your phone. Period.
Big thanks to MIUI Dev Team, Bloody, Token, Triton, Ztahoez and anybody I am forgetting.
This will get Cricket or Metro working on MIUI or other ASOP ROMS.
If you want MIUI to work on Cricket or Metro follow these instructions. You can also use these same method for any ASOP ROM.
I use cricket and I am not on Metro so I cannot confirm this method works for Metro, but it definitely should.
CRICKET USERS
Step 1) First you need to change APN using APN BACK UP & RESTORE .. Install Apn backup and restore. Open Apn backup then delete Apns. Then restore the cricket.xml or metro file you saved.
Step 2) Download Bloody's ASOP mms web script zip .. Flash it from recovery. If you did it right you will notice mms app is now missing. But don't worry it will be replaced in the next step by a different one.
Step 3) Flash Token's cricket eris mms zip from recovery.. and waaallllllaaaahhhh
You will end up losing the original MIUI mms app but your phone will now have mms capabilities.

METRO USERS
You should only have to flash Bloody's zip and re-boot twice in order for it to work for you.

In all fairness, it looks like it was posted from his/her phone. However, yes as it stands it is near useless. You might be able to find something by searching, but links would make the post complete.

No offense to the poster this is great stuff just IMO I would have posted links so that others can give feedback and confirm or deny whether this works which I am sure it does.
Why are we left in the dark here. Can you post links to test to see if its working?

what do u mean that when you flash my zip the mms.apk is missing....it shouldnt be atleast
It deletes the miui app .. so in order for it to work right I flash the cricket Eris mms zip. It replaces the missing apk.

you know what i think i get what your saying now lol but see mines does delete the mms.apk from MIUI but it replaces it with another one. and token419's cricket zip for the eris just loads the correct APN along with stuff for people who are not on the android plan. So i can actually make a AOSP fix for you guys now since i know whats going on lol

Hey Bloody, I know you said that the MIUI mms was closed source, but if you could get that one to work... that would be awesome. I really like that mms app.. I hope you like the write up and if you think I can improve anything here .. lemmeno
oddly enough i have a flashed evo to metro and i can flash any rom and my mms/web always stays i have never had to reflash the mms pack and i just put miui on

I don't see why not.. in Sense Roms I change the default.XML file then flash Eris mms .. for ASOP.. I do as stated above.

Speaking of Sense Roms, it has been said that the 3.70 Roms are pretty Cricket-friendly... No need to replace the MMS.apk.
BTW, thanks for the write-up and links. I have been wanting to try the VaelPak Rom, and this should make it possible.
Yea for sense roms.. all you change is the default.XML using root explorer then flash Eris zip .. and everything works on your eVo. It does not change the mms app.. it only gets your mms to work.

I am new to rooting. After using my phone simply rooted i decided to flash a Rom. I am using Synergy but since i flashed it i am no longer able to recieve MMS messages. when i look at the message settings i am missing information. Please Help. I am missing some goooood Stufff.
You will probably have better luck posting in your phones forum (Q&A section), or even better in the thread specific to the ROM you are having issues with.
Unfortunately he can't until he has 10 posts. It's a nice catch 22. Im digging through search in hope of finding answers.
I don't think MMS over wifi works on that rom. Try over 3g?
Yea i tried posting it wont let me yet. I just don't know what else to do besides really flashing stock rom and trying again

i believe mms is borked on that rom. was for me.
I've got a question. If I wanted to switch to Synergy's new RC do I need to install any custom kernel or is it included with the install of the ROM as well?
i flashed that same ROM with no issue. you may try to reflash it and be sure to wipe everything clean. something may have just gone wrong in the process

currently have a 2.2 rooted metro shift, was on GB before root with no mms tried fixing using bloodykiller86 method and it was a no go..

I have actually paid to get my esn added to metros database (this is the easiest way otherwise you will encounter indefinite adverse opinions and it is plain annoying)....after u get your esn added to metro by either a metro rep or an authorized person or whatever, i followed blodykillersk' method and worked like a charm.....i am running gingerbread 2.3.3 and fully rooted .....

I got mine fixed. I'm gonna see if the guy that helped me will let me work on a .zip that you flash to your phone to get it to work. I tried everything too, but nothing worked. Do not do anything like use apn backup or anything like that. Let me just check with him to see if we can get a completely working zip. The one he gave me had to be tweeked a few times, so he just needs to work a few bugs.

I'm on metro, using supreme sense. Sweet rom. Give me a few, i'm gonna check with this guy to see if we can post his zip on here on how to fix gps. Its not anything like using apn backup or anything like that. Just hang tight, we'll get you an answer by tonight.

Hey, Fdx, I appreciated all the effort you and everyone else put into trying to get it to work. You honestly have to make so many changes to so many different things that unless you had metro to test out the tweets, there's no way you would figure it out. I'm just glad we finally got it working and we can help everyone else with this ongoing issue.

I have a HTC Sensation 4G and I have used both Virtuous Inquisition and OpenSensation and I have had the same problem on both ROMs, picture or media messages won't send, I can receive them just fine however. My phone is S-ON with Virtuous currently. Is there a fix I can apply or something? It is very annoying...
I'm not sure about s on because i'm soff but ordroid sends and receives mms. I send them a lot so I can confirm they are working with ordroid Rom. However, I used VI. Also and they worked just fine for me on victorious. Have you checked to make sure it's not a problem with your settings? If it is than no Rom will work. Take a look and make sure that's not the issue. Strange because when I ran victorious I had no problem with mms. I have heard of people having this issue and I don't think it's the roms because they worked well for me and for others. I hope someone has a fix for you soon! You can try a new download and re flash incase something was corrupted in the first download or try a new Rom. Like I said I know ordroid is working as it should because I use that feature often and send many pics mms. You might want to give it a try. If it does not work with ordroid, it's a different issue than the Rom. I really hope this helps some. Sorry I could not be of more help but at least you can narrow down the problem. I'm suspecting it's not the Rom but give ordroid a try and see if the issue is still present. If it is you will know its a setting or a problem on your end and not the Rom. I hope this helps some and hope the issue gets resolved soon!

That's what I did. I would note that the patch installs HtcMessageProvider and HtcMessageUploader from /system/apps.
I don't know whether it was these files or the ROM that carrier specific MMS settings though.

The only way I'm able to send mms is to disconnect the internet apn, either by enable wifi or rename my mms apn to "default,supl,mms" and choose it instead of internet apn.
If I try to send an mms with the internet apn on the data signal flickers and the message apk just continues to try sending it without success.
I've tried to
-disable the message apk and installed handcent and gosms. (one at a time)
-disabled auto receive,
-used gosms apn
-clean flash with full wipe
and of course I've triple checked my apn settings
I had no issues before i rooted it
I've searched the forum and havent found any post about this and no solutions :-/

Did you try other ROMs?
And you might need to update your Radio firmware.
I'm not really professional at this, but these 2 are the main factors.
Oh, try not using other Message app other than custom.
I haven't tried another rom yet,
I belive that since I'm the only one on this rom with this issue, there must be a solution.
The radio (11.24a.3504.31_m) is afaik up to date

Nope, your definitely not the only one on that ROM having issues with MMS. Did you not see the logcats I posted in the thread? I know of a few others also having issues.
The thing is, I can't get MMS to work AT ALL on that ROM. In the mean time I've switched back to Bruce's CM10 where I don't have a problem with MMS. Works perfectly.

I saw your logcat, and I know there are others with mms issues, but none like this.
I've read a lot of posts about mms issues but they're all the opposite of mine.
When I give op I'll try Bruce's CM10

Ah your the one that has the selectable MMS APN yeah? Many months ago I had this happen to me, and I thought it was strange. Pretty sure I did a clean flash and that fixed it for me (selectable MMS APN). There's a few reasons I can think of that might make this happen...
Multiple MMS APNs in the 'Access point names' settings. A incorrectly filled out MMS APN, making the phone think it's actually an internet APN.
I think this is a problem you need to try and eliminate first...
Have you tried hitting menu in 'Access point names' and selecting 'Reset to default'? What about a clean flash of the ROM?
Hmm I just had a vague memory of what happened when I came across this awhile ago. I'm pretty sure in my MMS APN settings it was trying to combine my Internet APN and MMS APN together in one setting, while still having a separate internet APN also.
Hope some of that helps in some way

Strange your card wouldn't work on Bruce's CM10 ROM. Your really getting bad luck huh lol. Not sure if you've read this, or whether you can find something relevant to your problem...

Thanks, I've been through the post but didn't find a fix :-/
I've just ordered a new sin card, as I read at some other site, that 4.2.2 in some countries needs a new sim card.

Hmm can't seem to find it again :-/
It said something about 4.2.2 approaching the sim in another way, and that some people might experiences various network/data issues.
but we'll see when my new sim arrives.

Could you please point me in the right direction?
I've spent the last two days searching for a site that could lead me to whatever radio i need, without luck :-/
I did discover though, that RIL and radio didn't match and have just updatet the RIL (it may be my imagination, but I believe that my internet is faster now) :good:

I have exactly same issue. I am also from DK (using Telia network with callme). The ROM is unable to change APN unless you do as you have written.
Did you solve it ? The issue is still on the latest Albinoman ROM

Nope I actually just flashed a 4.1 rom
I've just switched from Fullrate to Callme and thought that it might be it since fullrate dosn't provide 4g but no luck :-/
I'm at a loss here!
Please for MMS problems, try this :
in your APN settings, the one that gives mobile internet settings, try too add in APN type this ",mms"
For Exemple u got this :
default,hipri
then add ",mms"
To finish u got this :
default,hipri,mms
Juste try that.
If you got HardWare Problems, it cant make nothnig for u.

You wrote in the beginning of the thread that you combined the two APNs and could get it to work that way. How did you combine them ?
According to Albinoman it is "hit and miss" and dependant on the operators - in DK we are unfortunate apparently. I know however that 4.2.2 is working in other phones in DK

I renamed my mms apn to "default,supl,mms" which made it selectable
Then i found an app that could switch apn with one press on the widget
and when I was to send/recieve mms I pressed the widget button
I used handcent, because it was able to notify before the mms was downloaded.
That's the closest I came to an solution
Any idea which phones or provider it works on?
