You guys should check this out if we want a working build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736529

Pre-ordered!!!

The Android SDK provides you the API libraries and developer tools necessary to build, test, and debug apps for Android.

A Nexus 7 Image Dump would be really nice!
That would help other Tegra 3 Device owners!

how?

[dev] data2sd update.zip script

Hello to all.
I think this week became the most important week for our desire.data2SD and camera working for hd ROM is two wonderful things.
Now I'm not an Android developer but this thread want became a point of beging to create a simple update.zip file for total automatic installation of wonderful data2sd mod.
I think became a must have for switching and trying ROM, no?
So if is necessary I can make my self as tester and help people to relase and easiest way to have data2sd.

I'm testing this script on AuraxTSense 8.0, for test my script you need to replace it on /system/etc/init.d/
For the moment problems seems to be with A2SD config (symlinks on /data) on this ROM, this version of my script probably have this feature corrected, I'm testing it on this moment, I don't know if it is the solution.
Remember remove .txt on my script before put it on the ROM.

I think that I found part of problem, I copy some part of code from A2SD script, that I removed and I'm testing now.
I have been using firerat's a2sd script to bind /data/data to sd-ext.
Just wondering how this script is different?

[DEV][Kernel]Porting kernel 3.0.8

!!!FIRST READ THEN POST!!!
I am not a programmer so do not shout at me , I try to help you gather as much information as possible. Of course, I trying port kernel by myself but is going very slowly.
I decided to start this thread and share with you information that I managed to collect. Topic applies to porting the kernel 3.0.8 for i9001.
I found a phone that has the same motherboard, CPU and GPU as the i9001 and already got an official kernel 3.0.8.
Why this kernel is good for us? - because has already almost all drivers needed by i9001 so porting will be easier.
Why we need it - better battery life, better cooperation with ICS/JB, better speed, new possibilities? And why not?
- What needs to be done?
- include and port file from 2.6.35.X - arch/arm/mach-msm/board-ariesve.c
- include/find missing drivers for i9001
- Links:
i9001 spec - Samsung Galaxy S Plus
U8860 spec - Huawei Honor
Kernel sources
Thread - Huawei U8860 Honor / Honour / Glory - Index
How to build kernel:
This howto is working only with 2.6.35.X kernel, when this project will be finished will add HOWTO for 3.0.8
You need linux machine, i don't know it is possible on Windows and if so i don't help you with that!!!
1. Download toolchain.
Download toolchain and extract it to /opt/ directory.
Should looks like:
Code:
/opt/arm-eabi-4.4.3/
2. Set up evn.
Edit your:
Code:
~/.bashrc
file and add at the end of file this two rows:
export CROSS_COMPILE=/opt/arm-eabi-4.4.3/bin/arm-eabi-
export CCOMPILE=/opt/arm-eabi-4.4.3/bin/arm-eabi-
Click to collapse
3. Download kernel - 2.6.35.14.
You can download kernel sources from Arco, Skywalker01 or Vitaliy_y repo, and extract to ~/kernel/, this kernels has already needed drivers etc.
4. Compile kernel:
When i'm compiling kernel i'm doing it in this way:
make ARCH=arm mrproper -j3
make ARCH=arm clean -j3
adb pull /proc/config.gz ./
gzip -d ./config.gz
mv ./config ./.config
make ARCH=arm oldconfig -j3
make ARCH=arm menuconfig -j3
make ARCH=arm -j3
Click to collapse
5. Output files.
mkdir -p ../kernel-out/modules
cp arch/arm/boot/zImage ../
find ./ -name "*.ko" -exec cp {} ../kernel-out/modules \;
Click to collapse
6. Create boot.img
split_bootimg.pl boot.img
mkdir ramdisk
cd ramdisk
gzip -dc ../boot.img-ramdisk.gz | cpio -i
Click to collapse
- Swap kernel and modules and then:
find . | cpio -o -H newc | gzip > ../newramdisk.cpio.gz
Click to collapse
- Creat boot.img
mkbootimg --kernel zImage --ramdisk newramdisk.cpio.gz --base 0x00400000 -o boot.img
Click to collapse
Download: split_bootimg, mkbootimg
Extract files here /usr/local/bin and set permissions to 755.
What i have done:
1. Added board-ariesve.c here:
arch/arm/mach-msm/board-ariesve.c
2. Included Ariesve board to Kconfig and Makefile.
3. Added missing files:
include/linux/fsa9480.h
arch/arm/mach-msm/include/mach/msm_reqs.h
Compilation error:
arch/arm/mach-msm/board-ariesve.c: In function 'pm8058_gpios_init':
arch/arm/mach-msm/board-ariesve.c:329: error: variable 'sdcc_det' has initializer but incomplete type

Good to see progress.. By the way, you guys might already know this, but Google release a "Platform development Kit" in Google IO 2012, to help developers and manufacturers port new Android OSs (like Jelly Bean) to their devices.
I found the link below, maybe it can help bringing Jelly Bean to our device in the future :silly:

Thanks
So guys a quick review.
Oisis and me are both working on kernel now.
We are using parts of the Huawei honor kernel to make ICS camera work. But please be patient that it will take a while till we finish. and we dont give guarantee that ALL will work CORRECTLY then.
But for you guys, to see the status of developement and we are not bluffing ^^
Here you see the drivers which we'll use in new kernel.
https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei/tree/master/drivers
****Update Status****
Will be new in kernel:
- Changing drivers for radio (maybe will work then) -> https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei/tree/master/drivers/media
- Changing wifi drivers for better wifi thetering performance
- Changing Audio/Video drivers for ICS Camera -> https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei/tree/master/drivers/video
- And other little things will be changed (better battery usage -> new drivers/ better performance ... )
- Will change GPU drivers too -> https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei/tree/master/drivers/gpu

That's true, because that device got a official ICS update and the hardware Is nearly the same we can use its drivers and we think it will work.

2.4.3.0 is know to cause issues. Downgrade to a lower recovery and try.

Even though it says it is the new one, it should bring up like the last 10 versions available for download

Yesterday I tried installing latest Viper rom as well with the latest recovery and had errors. I'm not at the first flash but I'm not a developer as well. I tried again and again, restoring the original backup that I had, than flashing again...lol. I've never thought that the recovery is the problem!
Download TWRP 2.3.1 from here. For me it worked just a few minutes ago. I'm back in business!
I want to thank everyone. The recovery actually was the problem. I'm running TWRP 2.4.2.0 and Viper is installed. Maybe this is an issue that the dev team of TWRP should maybe look into.

wolfirotisha said, it worked with 2.4.2 but not with 2.4.3 (if I understood correctly).
I have the same problem and running 2.5.0.0 (also S-off, unlocked, SuperCID).
Now I'm wondering, if I should first try to get me a 2.6.x.x.

Did you build this, or did you just copy and paste files into a working rom? It'll be hard for a dev to help you if it wasn't built. (to my knowledge at least)

Here is my kernel with shelld in ramdisk, recently I've ported MIUI to Moto G, but it had many software bugs, so, I deleted ROM and now have only ported kernel.
Flash this manually, it's not a flashable ZIP.

Does ROM boot now?
Important! Forgot to say that this kernel is from GPE ROM, so you must flash GPE before flashing MIUI, because Motorola ROM and GPE ROM use different file systems. If anyone give me last Moto-stock kernel (from backup or by another way), I'll add required files to it too. But for Moto-stock kernel must be Moto-stock based port, the same for GPE kernel.

[Q] [ROM DEV] My Lollipop custom ROM isn't booting.

I've recently been working on a custom Lollipop rom for the One with dsixda's Android Kitchen for modification, and zipping the rom with WinRar and signing with this sign tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6050996#post6050996 I'm also unable to record a logcat, because adb doesn't detect my One when it is stuck on the boot screen (Stuck on OnePlus Logo). I was able to take a kmesg though, here is the output:

The rom is based on SlimSaber for the One but I have been customising APKs and icons, fonts, build.prop, etc. I'm flashing the rom with TWRP 2.8 and Lollipop Gapps, flashing the Rom is all ok but it flashes suspiciously fast, a lot faster than the Gapps. I have also added a custom kernel which is SM/Linaro (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/linaro-optimized-franco-kernel-o3-aosp-t2861919/page75) I've zipaligned all of the apks and there is no root as of now.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

If the system partition is properly written, then I suggest you take a kmesg. That's useful for logging when you can't take a logcat.

Thanks for the reply, but what do you mean by properly written? I also tried to take a dmesg by typing the command
Code:
adb shell dmesg
and the output was "Permission denied". I did this while the phone was on, does it need to be turned off?

Nevermind, I figured out a way to log it to a file on my sdcard, I'll do this and see what the output is. Thanks.
