OK so i am wanting to make a new project but im not sure if what i have on the table right now is something worth going for. Its going to be a massive multi-tool that supports multiple phones including android, apple and possibly windows. It will be able to root your device if a way has been found for it. It will also have Semi-GUI layouts for programs such as ADB, NVFlash and so on. This will be a massive project, massive size and massive amounts of updates... almost daily as things change almost daily. But if it can be done i am thinking it would be the best tool out there and the most hated by some... hopefully not to much though. Here is a pic of something i threw together in a hour or so and has a project from december on the tf101. Please let me know what everyone thinks even if its bad or good. If you can code Visual Basic and want in let me know. I could use a hand lol.

I am looking to find out more information about this ROM.
It's been quite awhile since I've been part of any android development because once I got my hands on an iPhone I never looked back at my HTC Hero! Lol!
Anyways,
I am wanting to just ask about the basics before I jump into anything else as of the moment.
How would I go about getting new widgets for this?
-Clock
-Weather
etc...
I am also curious about boot screens that will work specifically with this ROM?
That's all I can think of right now. This ROM works really very smoothly and a lot better then this phone has ever worked before!

Since it's been sooooooo long for me, any kind of useful information to get me all up to date on anything would be great so I can dive back into my development stages with android again.
Thanks for any kind of advice and take care!
so i was keeping this to myself as it was going into real development as a new application but before it really took off its development has died so i thought id show you all what i was working on.
basically i wanted an app that would bring roms, kernels and their developers to the forefront; at the same time providing a way to manage your currently installed configs, in a similar fashion to rom manger.
seeing as development has died i've decided to share this as an idea on how 'I' would like to see a rom manager application look. the app was heavily inspired by the google card UI and the android play store. hope you like it and if anyone would like to use the concept be my guest.
i think the images below is pretty self explanatory so enjoy.
EDIT: sorry about the huge image size.

I was struggling to create clear folder structure for maintaining reverse-engineering projects. Also doing everything manually took that much time I preferred not to compile app and read .java files of cracked application just to check that I didn't break anything while working with Smali. That's why I created this project. The code is mostly uncommented but I have made it pretty easy to read if you know basics of Ruby though I'm thinking about commenting it soon.
The software is Linux only at this moment since I'm lazy, I don't like Windows and there is no good reason to prefer Windows over Linux while reverse-engineering.

I hope you enjoy, report bugs and contribute. And as always I'm not responsible of your acts and this shall not be used for apps that you don't have permission to reverse-engineer!

I made a backup with TWRP and checked system only, do I need to have data and boot checked also for the backup to work?
Um..
I really don't mean to be rude here. I really and truly don't.
But the reality is that you probably shouldn't be doing any of this without learning more about how Android works.
That's going to take some time, and patience, and will require that you do a significant amount of reading.
For your specific question, I'd suggest starting here.
I'd also have a look over here.
Thanks, I read both links, may practice with an old phone so I dont brick this one. I did accomplish the mission of getting root on it so I can bypass verizons damn hotspot block so mom can watch amazon video now and have wifi for her home.
